Amazing place, amazing food! I had the quinoa bowl and eggs and my husband had the traditional breakfast. Let me start with my quinoa bowl -- I've never had something this delicious ever and I eat out a lot. The quinoa was tossed in EVOO, sausage, tomatoes, onions and mushrooms and topped with two eggs. My husband who's not a quinoa fan tried and said it was really good. My husband's traditional breakfast came with two eggs, multigrain toast with some yummy home-made strawberry jam and breakfast potatoes. It was yummy! Our server Adam was super nice too and let me have a taste of their kale tonic because I was interested. I'm totally going to try and make that kale tonic at home. I don't mind waiting, but often there is nowhere to really stand... and you end up spilling into the dining areas, feeling sorry for the diners who you are imposing upon. My husband and I were looking for a place for brunch and this place came up on our Yelp search. Reviews looked great so we gave them a try. It was about a 25 min wait but for 10:30 on a Saturday, I didn't expect anything less. The hostess was friendly and efficient. Michael seated us and was our server. If all servers were like Michael, no one would ever complain about anything... ever. Michael was friendly, helpful with menu suggestions and personable. I got the Everything Salmon Benedict and my husband got the Mexican Street Corn Hash. YUM!! Both were absolutely delicious. Both these menu items would make me want to drive the 3 hours from home just to enjoy again. This was our first time here but definitely won't be our last. I know it's a chain but I really love this place. We usually go to the Kirkwood location. They have a lot of healthy choices but the not so healthy million dollar bacon is so good. Their juices are awesome and so is their coffee. I usually order the morning meditation juice to go. My favorite is their AM Superfoods Bowl. Their lemon ricotta pancake is my other favorite. This place gets very busy and sometimes they are short staffed, so service can be a bit slow, but the staff is always so nice. Use the waitlist function on the app for busy weekend mornings, otherwise the wait can be up to an hour. They seem busiest between 9AM and Noon. read more

We go to First Watch every few weeks for brunch on Sundays, and it is consistently fast, good and thoughtfully made. However, I needed to review today to say that their special of Huevos Ranchero Tostado was the best thing I've had there, period. Delicious hiusemade crema Fresca with chives, salsa verde made in-house, sunny side up eggs, chorizo, and seasoned potatoes on the side. The tostada was fresh and crispy, eggs were well made and the sauces were so so flavorful. Could use more chorizo though. Please make this a regular menu item!! They're also great for families, they've got high chairs, boosters and slings, and a pretty big kids menu. However, some of the items are pretty small even for our 3 year old. For instance, the half waffle is small, so we have to order her a full waffle instead. The fruit crepe is yummy, and they have Kid sandwiches for lunch too. It's one of our consistent brunch places, and we specifically like the Kirkwood location. The servers have been there for years, they understand customer service and are a smooth machine. I have patronized at first watch in VA MD, this was the most rude franchise. I use the yelp waitlist and it was 14 minute. But when I checked in it becomes 45 minute. Her excuse was there is a group of 15 who came in after everyone's reservation. I would advise people never to go there. read more

I always get the standard. Two eggs you way, choice of meat: pork sausage links, bacon or Turkey sausage. I've had all and I get Turkey sausage. The fried potatoes are amazing! Cooked with onions. Also whole wheat toast with strawberry preserves. The cheese grits would blow your mind. The million dollar bacon is good and I'm not a bacon person. It's like caramelized. read more

Thought we were going to wait because of the social distancing but we were seated right away and my big surprise was to see the entire restaurant full, not too much social distancing, a couple of empty tables and it looked/felt as before the pandemic. Popped into First Watch last week for lunch per a co-workers recommendation. Went with veggie burger with tomato basil soup on the side. Both items were very tasty. The burger was definitely ample as well as the bowl of soup. It was the perfect amount of food for mild hangover Friday lunch date. However, I do love the fact that you can opt for breakfast too if it floats your boat. The place was clean, bright, and popping but no waiting or any delays, which is always a bonus during lunch hour. The waitress was cool & friendly as well as every other staff member we overheard or came in contact with. The prices seems reasonable given the amount of food so all in all - good first timer experience. Big props for offering some vegetarian options. Overall it was an interesting place - I actually had never heard of before, and the name would've thrown me off just driving by. Sounds like a place to get medical supplies or something along those lines. I am sure I will be back in the near future now that 1. I know it exists and 2. Work just up the road. As I've said, chains aren't my thing. But First Watch has a bit of a soft spot in my heart because it was part of my childhood. I remember early mornings in downtown Cincinnati with my gramma. We always shared the Trifecta. She would eat the healthy part of the meal and I would eat the Belgian waffle covered with their delicious blueberry sauce. They don't use the same sauce any more and that makes me sad. But it's alright because there are plenty of other delicious things on the menu. I usually order an omelet - preferably one with as much meat and cheese as possible! It's a decent size and very filling. And works as a Paleo breakfast or lunch. But if I feel like getting crazy and throwing Paleo out the window, I order pancakes! These pancakes are ENORMOUS!!! I like to order two - one banana granola and one chocolate chip! I even pay the couple extra buck for real male syrup. This place is convenient, has decent service and great prices. I recommend signing up for their e-mail club - they send $2 off coupons out about every other month. You also get a free entree for your birthday! read more

I was in Kirkwood shopping at Global foods and stopped at First Watch for breakfast. I was seated in the back corner. I looked over the menu and was only interested in the standard breakfast. Several servers came to other tables near me but seemed to ignore me. I figured there was a specific server for my table. The new remodeling has ruined the ambiance by decreasing the number of booths as well keeping a few rather uncomfortable booths with horrible cushions. I order the veggie burger and it suppose to come with your choice of mixed greens or a soup. she didn't even asked which I prefer and assume I wanted mixed greens because thats What my burger came out with. Came to First Watch with my bff and two friends we went to college with who have since relocated to St. Louis. They suggested First Watch because they've been before and enjoyed it, and it was located between us, so was pretty convenient. I checked out the yelp reviews and was excited to try it! They made a reservation via an app and were able to be seated immediately, bypassing a decently large crowd of people waiting. Our waitress was nice, but there were multiple pieces of silverware that were dirty, and we were missing a glass. Of the three glasses that were on the table, one of them was dirty, too. We ordered coffee and needed to ask for half and half, as the default is a bowl of non-dairy creamers (really? even Denny's does better than that!). My three friends ordered various hashes and seemed to enjoy them, and I ordered the cranberry banana oatmeal. The oatmeal was fine, if a little basic- no steel cut oats here! It also inexplicably came with a dry english muffin. For a place that markets itself as having healthy options, why pair carbs with more carbs? Just the oatmeal would have been fine, but I would have welcomed a side of fruit. If you order this and want the english muffin, I recommend you ask the server for butter when you order, because our server was also a bit MIA during the meal. You receive your bill at the table, and pay up front before you leave. They were nice about splitting our bill! This is not a place I would consider for brunch in the future...it might be a Denny's alternative for breakfast, but I much prefer fancy brunches. Every now and then First Watch is the first (ha!) thing that pops into my head after a long night. "A-OK" describes my feelings about this place perfectly. I always (and I mean always) get the Eggs Benedict with tomato and avocado with fruit. It doesn't leave you feeling so full that you just want to crawl back in bed and sleep through the day. Because of this I cannot comment on much of the food but I can say [type] that the staff is always SO upbeat even when they are packed which is refreshing. And while it may be loud and crawling with little kiddies most of the time- it kind of makes this place what it is, and I kind of like it :) *the coffee is pretty standard too. read more

Not a great brunch time. Call me crazy but I had never heard of First Watch...new to the area...they didn't have these where I come from. So, I had no idea that it would be basically like a "better" "healthier" Denny's. First off, what is with the trick of putting down a coffee pot on the table and then charging you for coffee if you happen to drink from it? It would be like if a restaurant offered you a basket of rolls and then put it on your bill if you happened to eat one. I wanted the coffee anyway, but I thought this was unnecessarily tricky. Plus, it seems like it creates one of two things happening 1. You don't want your coffee carafe and so they dump it wasting gallons of coffee each day or 2. They take your coffee and recycle it to another table. I am not content with either of these options. Anyway... Food was not good. I would highly discourage anyone from ordering the biscuits and gravy. Maybe this is just something that cannot be done healthy and tasty at the same time. The waiter forgot to ring in part of my friend's order and so brought it out so late that we just had to have it packed to-go. For a chain restaurant serving breakfast, this is my least favorite...and please remember its group of competitors does not set the bar too high (Perkins, Denny's, Bob Evans, etc.) read more

This must be a franchised location. First the food was still good minus the burnt toast and few burnt potatoes we had. Service was great as well. The downfall is a side of bacon (3 pieces) at this location cost $5 might as well have ordered another meal for this price. Also I'm genuinely curious how much their ice cubes cost seeing how coffee has free refills but iced coffee does not. Every other location I've been too has free refills on iced coffee. We went to First Watch for a large family and extended family breakfast Saturday morning, Labor Day weekend. We called ahead for a "reservation" since there would be more than 7 in the group. They first said no reservations, but I reminded them their website says if more than 7, they will try, so the guy took our info. We were meeting about 8:30, so we were just ahead of the rush and didn't have any trouble. The food was great -- eggs done perfectly (can't stand burned or scorched eggs!!) and the bacon was nicely crisped. Drink glasses and cups were kept full. Service was very prompt. I thought by signing in in yelp...to go eat at this dinner....was a good idea...don't hey me wrong..love the food..a little pricey...worth it..the problem they don't understand yelp...oye they was so busy they just didn't check the compet computer...it said on line 20 to 40 minute wait.so I signed in at 10:20am...party of 7+... That's where the problem goes..i had a party of 9...so I called them explained that my daughter has cancer..stage 4..she felt good enough to get out..that's amazing all by itself...talk to a gentlemen that acted like he knew what he was doing..till he said..WE DON'T TAKE RESERVATIONS..i replied you're on yelp. This place has my new favorite breakfast -- the fresh fruit crepes. It's crepes stuffed with banana, strawberries and kiwi. Then it's topped with strawberry yogurt and cinnamon. You also get granola to sprinkle on the top and a muffin of the day. YUM. read more
