It was decided to go to First Watch since we were up and about early that morning and they were pretty much the only restaurant opening soon at 7:00 am. I was excited to go because I thought I remembered ordering food from them at work before and their potatoes were good. By the time I parked the car and went inside my friend was already seated and ready to order. Arriving so early meant there wasn't a lot of patrons in the restaurant already and I loved that (quick service) I'm going to keep this short. There isn't a better way to put this but our server seriously had a communication or comprehension problem. I'm not too sure if it was just difficult for her to understand or what was going on but there were multiple occasions I had to explain something to her because she just didn't understand. The biggest issue was with a drink I ordered that she communicated and correctly so I asked for the manager to come over so I can get it but understanding of what was going on. Instead, when the manager came over, they had my drink in hand and not to speak with me. This interaction was a little uncomfortable because our server relayed wrong information to the manager and what I explained my request that understood what I wanted. I also informed the manager that our server had a problem with comprehension. The potatoes were extremely surprising because I thought they had more flavor the last time I ordered them As well as iron and peppers I only received one big onion In the Potatoes and it was highly surprised. The buttered grits were ok and all of my food was hot so that was good. I seriously hope I remember not to come back to First Watch for breakfast because I do not want to be disappointed again. This is the reason I am leaving this review so I can remember this is not the breakfast decision I want to make again. I do appreciate the manager taking care of the situation however I don't like feeling as if I'm trying to get over or looked at that way because of a server who had a hard time with comprehension. That put aside, my drink was good and my friend enjoyed their cranberry mimosa. It was a cute touch to give the juice and champagne separate and that cute little bottle. I think the last time I went I ordered lemon ricotta pancakes possibly or some form of extra protein pancakes that were really good but it's hard to get simple or classic wrong and that's just not worthy of going back.

First Watch never disappoints when it comes to a satisfying breakfast. I went with the banana-blueberry pancake, and it was massive, fluffy, and packed with fresh fruit--plus that dollop of whipped butter just sealed the deal. The cheesy scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and those sausage links had a great savory bite. Everything was well-seasoned, fresh, and came out hot. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, perfect for a slow morning or brunch with friends. If you're a breakfast lover, this place needs to be on your list! Food and customer service is consistently good! We love going on weekdays when it's quiet. It's very peaceful. We are regulars here so the servers know us now LOL.

F is for First Watch (2nd of 3): The Laurel location is the only one that fails to get a 4-star and in one case 5-star review of the locations I've been to. I went to this location 3 times as it's the closest location to my home. I used my birthday deal in February 2023 & then again in February 2025 with my g/f this time. I also visited with my g/f in March 2024, not on my birthday deal. Saturday, February 11, 2023: I was on a walk in Odenton with a group I was in and suggested going to First Watch with them. I mentioned my birthday deal and needed at least one other since it's a BOGO and said Laurel location probably still makes the most sense, it was closest to my home. The two of them agreed that sounded good. I got one of my 2 usuals either the pancake breakfast or the omelet as well as a blueberry drink, which were all good. Service was pretty good as I recall. Sunday, March 24, 2024: My g/f & I friends' who are a couple wanted to do a double date for brunch somewhere. He lives in Laurel, and I live just a couple miles beyond Laurel in western Anne Arundel County in Russett. We came up with First Watch as we like all like it. The other friend & woman in their relationship had a lot of dietary concerns & considerations, and she asked a lot of questions to the server about several items. These were not unreasonable and completely fair questions, and the server had an attitude to her and was curt with her answers. Frankly, this server had a bit of attitude with all of us to a certain extent. Sunday, February 16, 2025: I was here to use my birthday deal with my g/f. One of the 3 visits here, where I actually took a pic of my food. I got the omelet, potatoes, & toast; delicious per usual. A different server than from 2024, but he was kind of unfriendly & curt too. In general things were a little slow in terms of the service. Further, the 3 times I've reserved ahead at this location, it's always like another 15+ minutes beyond the posted time. In general, they don't seem to be running a very tight ship here, and there is some lack of urgency to get the orders in, out, the customers in & out efficiently. Two negative somewhat negative experiences out of 3 make this the worst of the First Watches. One positive in 2025 was when I showed the cashier the BOGO birthday, he took off & handed it back to me. I said so I can use this again. I wouldn't use again here to be fair, I'd go to different one on this deal. He said that was fine, and that gave us the opportunity to try the new White Oak location in early March, which will be my next review.

I'm so sad because I can't order from this restaurant anymore. I love the menu but the quality is terrible and this is my third time in a row receiving a bad delivery. My whole frittata is burnt to a crisp and I didn't get the two expensive items that I added to it which was bacon and sausage. I've been coming since it opened but I'm done now.

I came with the family and had a good time. The space is large with plenty of seating. But be prepared to wait becuase it always seems to be crowded when I come. There was 4 people in our party and we all thought the service from the wait staff was excellent. Everyone's food looked great and from the silence at the table obviously it was also delicious! I ordered the 2 breakfast tacos thinking it would be light...to my pleasure it was tasty and filling. The sprinkling of tain on the fruit was an excellent touch. Overall the food and atmosphere was great. I do recommend!!

    Breakfast hash
    Candice H.

This restaurant is always consistent with a good hearty meal. During this visit, I ordered a breakfast hash that came with chorizo and egg with potatoes and tortillas. I also got a side of their grits and the kale juice. Each item was absolutely delicious 10 out of 10. For reservations I do recommend if you're coming with three or more people that you try to be strategic and getting on the waitlist if you're coming with one other person I recommend just sitting at the family table. It's not that bad and you will have a quicker experience. The staff at this restaurant are always incredibly nice incredibly kind. The restaurant might appear to be busy on certain days, but I do recommend just planning ahead. It also can be a bit loud but it's a diner style restaurant so that is to be expected.

Okay, I so wanted to give this establishment 5 Stars, really I did. Well, let's start at the beginning. Decent crowd of patrons for a Tuesday morning. Place was packed, bright and welcoming. Menu looked appealing with a vast selection of goodies... Seated and not greeted by our waitstaff, who asked for our drink selection and looked and sounded "disturbed". Strike 1 Took our order and disappeared into the open kitchen area, which was bustling mind you. I didn't smell anything though. Food arrived in a decent amount of time. Here in lies the dilemma The Works Omelet: looked and tasted premade. Did they add the filling afterwards then heat it again? (egg over cooked and lukewarm, how?!) Toast...no preserves in sight. The potatoes...frozen then reheated? Zero flavor and zero taste Strike 2 Tri-Fecta: Belgian Waffle and Eggs were great. The Million Dollar Potatoes, they need to change the name. There are no words. Waitstaff never checked on our table to see if we needed anything, or if our food was okay Strike 3. We didn't finish our meal or ask for boxes for the leftovers. Nah... Will I comeback to try something else? Perhaps. The carrot cake pancakes sound like they may be a vibe. As it stands, First Watch needs to make be believe that SOMEONE is watching the food and the service here. Solid 3 Stars. Restroom was immaculate and coffee was superb... that's all

    Lavender French toast

Yeah, I know we all have our own First Watch favorites but I'm not here to talk about mine. Friends, I veered off course (live a little, right?) and got something off the Spring 2025 Menu... the lavender French toast. First off, it's a beautiful dish. Second, that ah-mazing lavender whipped cream with the gingerbread crumble is the star of the dish. Third, but whyyyy when the French toast should be the star? The French toast tasted like it was simply brushed with the batter instead of being dunked in, and allowed to mingle with it. What a shame. I got carry out and the service was pleasant, the meal was prepared quickly and the parking was plentiful.

Got brunch around 10am, perfect timing because there's no wait. By the time we left there was a long wait!! Ambiance was lively and busy for brunch. Food was yummy and our waitress accommodated well for a friend with a gluten allergy. Omelette was yummy especially with the potatoes. Just a nice brunch place for some simple breakfast items. Will have to come back to try other foods.

To my surprise, they had the biscoff chicken & waffle available for dinner too, so of course I had to try it and it was delicious. The chicken was flavorful and the waffle was well made (just the right amount of crispness). There was a biscoff cookie on top of the whipped cream and biscoff butter on the waffle, but the butter didn't add much in terms of flavor. The mac and cheese is solid and plentiful. They also participate in restaurant week so you can get a good amount of food for $35. However the sweet potato bread pudding was bland. However, I would say that the music plays from a little Bluetooth on the corner of the restaurant and it's not the greatest quality, would cut in and out, and it was just blaring way too loud, making it hard to have regular conversations. Service wasn't too bad overall. There was only one weight staff who had all the tables in the restaurant which made her spread out pretty thin. But we wouldn't get regular refills or Water and took so long to get water (waiting up to 20 min to try to get her attention) and at the end of our time together she finally gave us a pitcher of Water, but a little late as we're most done. Also, it took a while to get basic things we had ordered coffee but either she forgot to bring us coffee or she didn't ring it in and we weren't able to get it until after our food was delivered. So service, while she was friendly and kind, our service was definitely subpar. Hopefully this wasn't bc she had automatic tip bc our party was so large for her lack of service. 1/5 for service The food was amazing for the most part. I had gotten the salmon BLT and it was moist and tender with good flavor and seasoning, and the bread had a great texture and flavor to it as well. The bacon was nice and smoky and the sauce that was paired with it made it great. The hashbrowns were so crispy and seasoned with great flavor and salt! This was a winner! 4.5/5 Yeah, I got a bunch of other dishes, but I only tried small bites here and there of other people stuff. What I would say, is that the Cajun pasta shrimp was cooked perfectly and was tender and had great flavor! And that sauce was amazing! The sausage I tried wasn't the best but decent! We got biscuits and wings as appetizers, and the wings were great, good flavor, good crunch, and a decent size. However, there needs to be more wings in the order for the price. The hot honey sauce as good! 4/5 The biscuits were pretty moist and had a great texture and consistency, You get two for the order! 4/5 Overall, the food is pretty amazing. However, the service was pretty bad. Maybe this was a one off but just prepared for a long waits for everything from water to getting a drink order.

The decor was very nice, quaint, and beautifully Afrocentric, which I loved. I started with the waffle, turkey bacon, and eggs; . I also tried the crepe version of the bacon, egg, and cheese, which was really good. For something sweet, I went with the s'mores crepe and it did not disappoint. The hot chocolate was also a hit--very rich and comforting. What made the experience even better is that this is a small, newly opened woman & black-owned business, only about 4 months in, and they're already doing things right. Overall, a solid brunch spot with great vibes, good food, and excellent service. Definitely worth checking out and supporting.

Have been dying to try Crepes on Main once I found out Laurel had a dedicated crepes shop! We…read morewalked in and there was plenty of seating even for a smaller establishment. There was also a beautiful mural. In terms of food, I was really excited to try both the sweet and savory crepes. There was one couple ahead of us who walked in at the same time as us, so while their order was being made, we perused the menu. There was only one employee at the shop making the crepes so their order took awhile (they waited at least 15 minutes for two crepes). We finally got to put our order in and the employee said it'll be 15 mins for what we ordered (chicken & shrooms crepe, shrimply the best crepe, and s'mores crepe). Each crepe is moderately priced but I was pleasantly surprised at how big the crepes were. However, while we were waiting for ours to be made, the couple who got their order ahead of ours came back saying there was a foreign object in their crepe and they wanted a refund because they had no time to wait for a new one to be made. The employee seemed to not be sure how to refund the order and had to make a call which made our wait even longer. It also made me a little nervous for what I'd find in my crepe - but our crepes seemed okay. The employee also forgot to make our s'mores crepe so there was more of a wait for that, but we dined in so it wasn't a huge deal. The service overall could be improved with better staff training and just more staff in general to handle orders even on what they might think is a slow day. We eventually got our crepes and the shrimp crepe was delicious and had a little spicy kick to it which i loved. It also had a little salad in there so half the crepe was cold which I didn't love but could deal with. The chicken & mushroom crepe was also fantastic and had even more flavor and a kick to it. The s'mores crepe was also a perfect sweet finisher to the meal. All things considered, I'd come back once in a blue moon, but once they add more staff and have a more efficient process, I'd come back more often for those delicious crepes.
