This was my first time trying first watch! I got a blueberry pancake, Bacon and Kale juice the the food was wonderful and Flavorful, the bacon perfectly crunchy and chewy, the pancake was a little under cooked with some batter in between, but came with jelly which was a perfect combo, the Kale juice reminded me of when I was little and would make juice with my dad. The service was good, the server gave me a small cup of the juice and I was hooked on it. The pancake was bigger than my head and I could barely finish! I had never heard of First Watch before, let alone knew it was a chain that specialized in breakfast and lunch. Their expansion has not made its way to the West Coast yet. This location on Haggerty Rd was in a corridor that has really picked up lots of businesses since the turn of the century. From reading the other reviews, I wanted to avoid the peak hours to minimize the wait time so I arrived during the final hour of business for the day. My first impression upon walking in was this is not a typical diner setup like a Denny's, IHOP or Waffle House. It was a lot more modern and open than those establishments. The menu had a solid variety of choices although they seemed on the pricey side. Two things on the Seasonal Items chalkboard hanging on a wall by the cashier caught my eye so I ordered both, the Holey Donuts and the Steak & Eggs Hash. The donuts were cinnamon sugar-dusted cake holes with dips of chocolate sauce, mixed berry compote, and vanilla creme anglaise. I liked that they offered three choices. My favorite was the compote because of the tart fruitiness which provided a contrast to the already sweet dough. The hash was made up of seared flank steak cut into cubes, seasoned potatoes, house-roasted mushrooms and onions, baby spinach, mozzarella, parmesan cream, and fresh herbs. It was topped with two eggs sunny side up which was my choice. A piece of parmesan-crusted ciabatta bread also accompanied the dish. I thoroughly enjoyed this hash as a version of steak and eggs. I didn't experience any hiccups with the service so perhaps that was luck or arriving at a less busy time. The kitchen did take awhile to prepare my order as it took over 20 minutes before the plates arrived at my communal table seat. Overall, I rated this visit between 3.5 and four stars. read more

This was my second and last time coming here. The business is run poorly and it's so unorganized. There were way more empty tables than there were tables where people were actually sitting. But yet there was a 30 minute wait. I get it, maybe they don't have the staff... I put my name in online and once we arrived, I checked in. The woman at the from stated it would be 5 minutes. After 20 minutes of waiting I checked in to see how much longer and they had no recollection of my name on the list. So I said we were told 5 minutes and it had been 20. The lady did then seat us immediately. Once we sat down, the waitress was very sweet and attentive. But I felt like there were wayyyyy too many workers, not really working at all. My husbands food came out first and after about 15 minutes I asked where my food was. She went to check and thought someone else had brought it to me. She did then bring it to me. The food was good but the way they are so unorganized is mildly infuriating when spending this much money on breakfast food. This was my second experience here and I won't be back. We were here a few months ago and the wait was about 30 minutes. Once we were seated, I could tell why they had a long wait. They were very short staffed. The hostess was checking in customers, seating diners, and also bringing food to tables. Once I received my food, the waffle was very hard. I had to send it back twice for being overcooked. It was also odd that the first plate I received had four strips of bacon but the next arrived with only three strips. The final order I received had four slices. Today was my first visit. The concept is open and welcoming. I tried the shrimp and grits and let me tell you - it did not disappoint. It's a bit spicy so if you don't like spicy you might want to skip it. I also had the pomegranate sunrise, I think that was the name of it. It has fresh pomegranate juice with lime and tequila and it was delicious. I will definitely go back. Also my server was Nicole and she is a delight. First Watch's name is fitting for our 1st meal of the day. We got seated immediately, a waitress arrived immediately, and not surprisingly the food come out hot and promptly. Online the restaurant may appear small, but it has ample seating with 2 people, 4 people and 6 people tables/chairs. Loved the floor to ceiling windows that brightens up the rm. Started with Bloody Marys & Mimosas, interestingly, the bloody mary mix comes in a miniature bottle and so does the champagne for the mimosa. I was hesitant to order the Chickichanga dish because it's wrapped in dough, I don't like doughy food. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the tortilla is toasted. Also ordered a Chile Chorizo Omelet, both dishes were delicious and the freshest food that I have ever eaten. I wouldn't be surprised it they grow their arugula on site. The Grits side and pork sausage links were also tasty First Watch menu is inclined towards turkey and chicken and not beef and pork. Our waitress Erica was very attentive to us she readily, eagerly responded to our every request, with a smile, Thank! you Erica. The quality of the food is so terrible, you're better off going through a drive-thru in terms of quality. I don't even bother to dine-in anymore because it always takes over 45 minutes to get a table during non-peak times. Pretty damn good for a franchise. I have been to two different locations- Houston, TX and most recently Livonia, MI- and the food has been consistently delicious! We attempted to beat the church rush on a Sunday but when a new brunch place opens in the area it's nearly impossible to not be on the waitlist. They told us an hour for 2 people around 10:30am but they also had a first come first serve community table so we opted to sit there because the hangriness has already kicked in. We still ended up waiting about 25-30 mins for a server but she was very nice and apologetic. They still have a few kinks to work out with understaffing it looks like. I ordered the Parma Skillet which is italian inspired with sausage, mushrooms, Parmesan, sun dried tomatoes and scrambled eggs. Plus I added spinach and zucchini which was a great call. Skillets also come with home style potatoes, toast & homemade jam and fruit. Soooo good! It definitely has a farm to table taste for a franchise. I'm the first to review! How exciting!! My family has had many experiences at first watch when we lived in Denver, and we were obsessed. We are moving to Austin, and while our house is being built, staying in Livonia a while. How lucky for this city to get such a great restaurant. When we around just passed noon, it was moderately busy. We were greeted with smiles and immediately seated. We were told a long list of things from the menu, and questions were answered (it changed a bit from when we were there last). My wife got the elevated egg sandwich along with a kale tonic, and I myself got the salmon Benedict. While we waited for the meals to come, my waitress approached and told us there was a hold on the salmon benny because the kitchen wasn't satisfied with the original one. Thank you. The one I ate was worth waiting on. Both meals were flawless. This is going to be a great restaurant for this area. A big difference though, is the serving size. What is normal in the Denver area, is small around here..but know that the food is HARDY, and so delicious. Glad we could attend opening day, see you tomorrow!! read more

I unfortunately have now had two poor experiences at this location. My first visit I was the only person in my group that just didn't receive their food - and when I did receive it my order was incorrect. I also ordered one of their specialty drinks and just never received it. I recently went with my family for Father's Day and again was the only person to not get their food on time - and was brought the entirely wrong order when it did come and had to wait for the correct order to be made. The bacon was very fatty and not at all crispy. I tried the Morning Market Veg Omelet that came with greens and toast which was pretty good, definitely could've used more jam and butter for the toast. It also felt like we were chasing our server around trying to ask for water and drink refills. I definitely recommend another location that has better service. read more

First time there on Thursday, 10/24. The interior is super cute, kind of rustic, farm-y, large space. The server was pretty friendly but being told that we've never been there, she set down the check and never came back. ‍ I ordered a special that will be going away come November, truffle and mushroom omelette. It was came with fruit, which in general I think is kind of weird depending on the season and what's in the fruit bowl. It also came with a slice of ciabatta with a nice little spread but nothing special. The omelette had plenty of mushrooms, which I liked, but considering truffles and mushrooms are so similar it needed another flavor. It also came with a weird little bed of arugula on top.
