My dad and I went here this morning and had a great experience. The staff was very welcoming and kind. Food was delicious! Ample parking available. It was busier than I thought for a Monday morning but we were seated right away.

A solid breakfast spot. Food is fresh and staff are friendly. Their menu contains many different options that run the gamut from healthy to indulgent. Today, I ordered the seasonal Pumpkin Pancake breakfast. It came with a large pancake that actually had a nice pumpkin flavor. I like the consistency; it was a bit more dense than a normal pancake, but it was really moist, not cake-like. The chicken sausage was filling, but not very flavorful. My eggs were cooked perfectly. The $13.29 price was fair and I would definitely recommend the Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast.

This first watch is brand new. We sat outside and the breeze felt good. I ordered a potato skillet dish which was delicious. It came with sour dough breaded lightly buttered accompanied with a fruit preserve. My dish came with a little fruit cup. We got the $1 million dollar bacon which is delicious. My wife got the Trifecta. That comes with a waffle, bacon, eggs of your choice. Our waitress sara was informative and very nice. Will return.

Went in on a weekday and were quickly seated. My meal was ok, lacking seasoning, I did have an egg white omelet though. The other member of the party tried food from their seasonal menu and was impressed their meal!

My friend is obsessed with First Watch. We indulged her and decided to join her for brunch there one day. We went to the newest Kentuckiana location on a Sunday. Full disclosure, I should have put our names in on the virtual wait list. It would have helped expedite our visit. We were quoted a 25 minute wait, but it ended up being longer. We got worried we were forgotten. Thankfully we weren't. But we know what to do for next time. When we did get seated, I got a coffee which was flavorful with great hazelnut creamers on the table. My friends got the seasonal drinks which were quite frankly gorgeous. We got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cinnamon roll as a snack to share. It was heavenly! For brunch we all got something different. My friend got the vegetarian sandwich, which she found hearty and flavorful. My friend who was jonesing for First Watch got the vegetarian eggs Benedict which was tasty. I got the Floridian French Toast with Grits. It was very yummy and I really appreciated it. I wish time wise this visit had been more efficient, our wait time was different than anticipated and our cinnamon roll actually came at the end of our visit. We will have to give this spot another try.

When we came here we did not realize that Proof on Main is a not only a wonderful restaurant/bar but also a 24/7 free museum. You can order drinks and then walk through the exhibits. We just opted to eat breakfast first. As soon as you enter, you are standing in a colorful and fun art museum. The walls are adorned with many different types of art from living artists. The staff also encourages you to walk through the dining room and if able they will walk along as your own private docent, explaining a lot of what you see. We had to pause the dining room and bar exhibit tour for a short time to have breakfast which included: - BREAKFAST SANDWICH - Scratch Biscuit, House Sausage, - FRENCH TOAST - Ricotta, Strawberry, Pistachio - BISCUITS & GRAVY - House Sausage Gravy, Sunny Eggs, Chili Crisp Scrambled Eggs, Melty Cheese, Hash-brown - STEEL CUT OATMEAL - Spiced Apple Butter, Apples, Candied Walnuts I will not go items by item but I will say that everything was so perfect-tasty-fresh. The portions are very robust here and I am sure no one goes aways hungry. They have a lot of unique twists on items as you can see by the menu we had. After breakfast, we resumed our tour of the main floor then the basement. It's hard to describe just how large the viewing area is and all spots within the area are used for some kind of art display... Even the bathroom. Everything is so unique and I tried to capture a fair amount of it in photographs and information about the piece as well. This too should be a must visit if your in the Louisville area. Set aside an hour or two to stop in and relax with some great food and art. KUDOs to the team at Proof on Main.

I did see there is a patio out front, then there is a small indoor seating area, but the real space is the back yard/porch. That area is impressive. The place is rather rustic. You order at the counter and they will call you when it's ready. No table service here. You are on your own to get a to go container and such. Usually that wouldn't be a problem, but when you are dining alone, it's kind of hard to go fetch anything. Do you leave your belongings? Do you leave your food? If you need more coffee, how are you going to carry it all? Even to just pick up your food. Do you leave your drink? Will you loose your table if none of your stuff is there? It can be a problem. However the food is delicious and the portions are generous with reasonable prices. I love that there is a section for my vegan friend... I always scan the menus for vegan options so I make informed suggestions if we want to hang out for brunch/lunch or dinner.

My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I came here two Fridays ago ahead of a bourbon tour (thinking, correctly, that we should probably have a hearty meal beforehand so we didn't end up face-first in a gutter somewhere). Several Kentucky natives told us that we had to try a Hot Brown during our visit, and since it was literally created at the Brown Hotel, this seemed like the logical spot. The actual Hotel has some gorgeous interiors, especially upstairs in the lobby. We didn't see that area until after our meal, so when we laid eyes on the Lobby Bar & Grill, we knew immediately that that was where we SHOULD have gone for this Hot Brown dish. J. Graham's, I'm sorry to say, doesn't have the history and personality of the rest of the building and just looks like a generic breakfast spot you'd find in any hotel. It probably exists solely because the other dining options in the hotel aren't open until later and they want to give tourists and their own customers a place to eat at all times of the day, which isn't a terrible reason in my book. But it's also unfortunately not very good, and the dirty walls and overall meh appearance of the establishment just make it very clear that the hey day for this hotel overall was decades ago. The service was the biggest miss here. Our waitress was scatterbrained, often not around or around but hanging out with co-workers or talking up other customers. It was honestly pretty mystifying because when she DID come by, she was often overly apologetic and trying to make amends. But the best way to make amends is not to have to keep doing that throughout the meal. She forgot my friend's coffee (didn't write anything down when we ordered, which is fine if you remember everything but...) and when my chum asked what was in the hummus (one of just three apps), she didn't know and had to go ask someone in the kitchen. That's arguably a nitpick and she DID try to figure it out, but the lunch menu is pretty small and it was a little odd that her menu knowledge was that limited. The bigger problem was that we were in there for over half an hour longer than we wanted to be because she wouldn't come by our table. I actually actively looked for her on the way to the bathroom so I could remind her to come to our table, but instead found her off to the side gossiping with other staff. Not a good look at all. So this might have been an overall positive experience if some of the hospitality from the hotel had spilled over here. We actually both enjoyed the apps, which were the only real positives of the experience. The Bourbon Barrel Fries and the Two Timer, featuring Smoked Bourbon Hummus (bourbon tends to be the theme of your days in this town, I've found) were both really good, and I probably ate more of those than the actual entree. The fries were cooked perfectly and were well seasoned/addictive. The Hot Brown was fine for what it was (we split it to try). It's basically a dramatic turkey melt, with slices of turkey coated in cheese and other sauces. It also came with strips of bacon on top, which on a personal palate level I didn't think really helped the dish so I barely nibbled on those. It's definitely a solid entry but it wasn't mind-blowing for either of us. Maybe it's just from where we come from in the Northeast, but I'm conditioned to like my turkey with accompanying stuffing, and usually in the latter part of November. I think it felt kind of weird to be eating turkey with warm cheese. But I'm glad we tried it and got the context at least. You might have a completely different experience with better service, but I'd still recommend going upstairs for any dining. It's a much better atmosphere and you can really appreciate where this hotel fits in the chronology of Louisville. You're not going to get that from going here.
