I'm gonna keep it 100 with you: If Yelp allowed halfsie ratings, this review would be 3.5 stars. But Geraldine's Kitchen is a beloved local restaurant, according to some locals I talked to, so I feel fine with 4 stars. They are probably doing lots of things right for lots of people, and maybe it's just not the place for me. I could tell that Geraldine's Kitchen was a local joint as soon as I stepped in. There were tables of old timers who looked like this place was theirs. They had newspapers open, empty plates next to full cups of coffee, and didn't look like they were going anywhere anytime soon. Usually, diner plus older men plus newspapers equals great coffee. But the math didn't add up this time, unfortunately. My black coffee was very bitter and tasted almost pruney! I got a Western omelet: ham, bell peppers, onions and pepper jack cheese. They offer half-size portions, which I was thankful for because I wasn't super hungry. The half omelet was a great size. It also came with a biscuit. The only hot sauce they offered was Frank's Red Hot -- not my favorite, but I used it because the omelet needed a little something. We also got biscuits and gravy, which were fine but not hot enough. If you order biscuits and gravy, they come a la carte, so if you want something else with them (like sausage or hash browns), those items will be served on their own individual plates. I guess we should have asked for the meal to be served on one plate, but I didn't even think to ask for that. Geraldine's is located in downtown Jeffersonville, and as far as I could see, the only parking was on the street. read more

First of all, it's in a great location in the business district but it's so inconspicuous that if you blink, you'll miss it like we did. We drove around the block twice and finally saw it. When you enter, you're greeted by friendly staff. We waited on the stools to be seated and offered a drink as we waited. The wait was only 10 minutes. One of the owners, Christa, welcomed us in. She was hard at work helping her staff provide good service. We both ordered the Greek Omelette. The Greek Omelette was so delicious. It was light and fluffy. The feta cheese, olives, onions, little tomato bits were so fresh and perfectly cooked. We were very pleased with our Omelettes. It came with the most delicious, homemade biscuit. One of the best biscuits I've had in a long time. When I'm in the area, I will definitely come back to Geraldine's for a good old-fashioned breakfast. They also had good options for lunch. read more

The service was friendly, our server was awesome, and the place has a lot of local charm, but it didn't quite land for us. My mom wasn't a fan of the food and didn't eat much of it. I thought it was okay. The coffee was weak and lacked flavor, though I did see a sign that says its ground in house, so that's cool. The scrambled eggs could use some love, and the country ham was really salty--great if that's your thing, though. The pancakes were yummy. The English muffins weren't really toasted. The food came out lukewarm. There was also some carpet on the wall next to us--interesting choice, though I imagine it's tough to clean. Overall, it felt like the food and space could use a little TLC. I probably wouldn't go back, but it seems like a beloved local spot, so maybe we just caught it on an off day. read more

I ordered the big breakfast eggs over medium with potatoes and gravy and biscuits including ham and I asked about the gravy and was told it was really good and homemade but the gravy was not very good bland and thin . We tried this restaurant once for takeout, and it was ok. We decided to give it another chance while walking around town, not realizing they were about to close. We waited at the entrance for someone to seat us, but no staff approached... even though the kitchen was still busy and other guests were waiting for food. When we finally asked ourselves if they were still open, we were told (with a smug look) that they closed in eight minutes. If someone had simply communicated that upfront, we would have left without issue. With the number of people still waiting to be served, there was no indication they were shutting down. Ultimately, it comes down to poor communication and a lack of warmth from the staff. We didn't feel welcomed, and unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

Although there was a 25 minute wait for a table(Saturday) we were able to sit on the stools rather than stand. Once seated we were promptly served. Our drink orders were taken and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. It's strictly breakfast and lunch fare as they close at 2 pm. It's nothing fancy but it was filling and really reasonably priced. It's a cute little local place(my oldest daughter enjoyed the ambiance) and had that throwback diner vibe. We were waiting in line, we were next. A lady walked in and walked in front of us. The waitress started waiting on her. We said we were here first. The waitress said she's just picking up a to go order. (I don't care what she was doing, we were in line first). Then they couldn't find where the lady placed an order and started taking her order instead of seating us. We left and won't go back. I agree you were busy. There were several servers. We did not mind waiting our turn and we did have time to wait. When we walked in someone said they would be right with us, we were fine with that. There were empty, clean tables but we should not have to wait for customers that come in after us. She was not just picking up an order, she was ordering. Geraldines kitchen is a downtown Jeffersonville Indiana breakfast and brunch establishment. Me and my wife and our one year old daughter made the short trip from Louisville Kentucky over to Jeffersonville Indiana to run some errands and we want to grab a quick bite for breakfast so we stopped in here to eat. The establishment is very small and has a very cute see small Southern town charm to it. They had some freefun and cute outdoor decorations including some cows and a cardboard cut out for photo ops. We arrived about 11:30 AM and they had a semi-decent crowd but we were sit down after about a five minute wait. The service was a bit on the slower side but they did seem understaffed however the staff was all very nice and courteous to us. I personally ordered loaded hash browns. They were a decent serving size and they packed a pretty good flavor to them. Overall a pretty solid meal. My wife ordered the I Want It All Omelet. She said it was very good and had nice flavors. She also got us a full order of biscuits and gravy to share. She liked them a lot and I was not a fan at all. The gravy was just OK and the biscuits to me were very bland and kind of stale. Overall this is a saw that little place. He has a very small town feel and I'm sure they have tons of regulars who enjoy it a lot. For me personally they could be a little quicker with their service especially on slower days like the day I visited. However if you're in the area and looking for a breakfast or Brunch Place Geraldine's isn't a bad option and worth checking out read more

This was our second time back, but with a much larger group. We were told to call 20 minutes before we planned to arrive to ensure seating (they do not take reservations, but wanted to serve as best as possible). When we arrived the seating we requested was given to another party of 11. The staff quickly realized that they needed to make adjustments. We were sat in booths separately from one another but at least were able to accommodate at least 5 at one and 7 at another. Then service staff are always very attentive and made sure to listen and make corrections quickly if there was an error in food or drinks. We shared French toast, loaded hash browns, loaded tater tots and gooey sweet grilled croissants drizzled in honey and sprinkled with cinnamon. This is truly a wonderful breakfast and lunch location that deserves great patrons to enjoy their atmosphere and food!! read more

Local restaurants are something that I truly love to enjoy and experience. Geraldines Kitchen does an outstanding job of providing some very delicious food and more specifically, breakfast food at that. The environment is very welcoming and you'll often find the owners of this establishment working behind the counter or making sure that everyone is very well taken care of. The food tastes great but my only complaint is that when I waited for some more coffee I had several servers walk past and even notice I did not have any coffee until it took about 20 minutes before I had someone fill up my cup. The prices here have gone up several times so I wouldn't recommend checking out the menus here on Yelp as they may not match what their current menus state. Outside of all of this, Geraldines Kitchen still makes for a great locally owned and operated place to dine in their breakfast tastes great and the food does come out rather quickly so you shouldn't have to wait too terribly long for those that are needing their hunger satisfied. read more

I have been coming here for around 2-years, for several times a week. I have repeatedly had to prove my dog is a service dog for anxiety... but after the 3rd time they made a big deal out of her, I am done. She is trained, well behaved, and a legit service animal. Not an emotional support animal. Mental health is a legit disability. I am fed up with having to prove myself. You would think after two years, visiting 3 or 4 times a week, they would have my back. So I am just done. Know that if your disability makes a little old lady mad they will ask you to leave or refuse to accomidate you. (Dog did not misbehave, grandma Karen just didn't like her.) Also they dont clean the grill well and the french toast frequently has a piece or two that tastes like onion. I never complained because I liked supporting a local owned restraunt. read more

Took a ridiculous amount of time to be seated when they weren't very busy at all. The waitress took her time coming to take our order. We thought we maybe caught them on a bad day and thought we'd give it another try. After being ignored for almost ten minutes by multiple wait staff that seemed to be doing everything possible to avoid making eye contact with us. That was until a guy came in behind us that didn't look like us. Then a couple of them perked up and sang out "we'll be right with you! ". At that point we left and the guy behind us was immediately seated. I'm not into begging someone to take my money, so we took our business elsewhere. My daughter, her fiance and I came for breakfast the Sunday after Thunder, and the place was packed with the line out the door. This was our first visit, so I don't know if this is business as usual or an influx of out of towners. Looking at the menu, my first thought was that I couldn't believe how low the prices are compared to other breakfast places. The reason for that is that the portions aren't as large as other places. I ordered the Rosie's Choice 3-egg omelet with sausage added. If this was 3 eggs, they were small or medium sized eggs; definitely not large or extra large. And the filling was pretty skimpy, too. Not many mushrooms and there may have been 4 sausage crumbles, but not more than that. Plus, it was just slightly underdone. Another 30 seconds or so, and it would have been cooked perfectly. My daughter ordered multiple items. She enjoyed the hash browns with gravy, but mentioned that the potatoes were just a bit too salty. She also ordered the breakfast sandwich on a croissant, and didn't care much for it. She said that the croissant was too buttery, and felt that it might be good on its own but not as part of a sandwich. I must admit that she can be a tad picky, so both her fiance and I tried the croissant and we agreed with her. The food here wasn't bad; just mediocre. We really enjoyed our food but the wait was quite longer than it seemed to be necessary. I don't mind waiting when tables are full or staffing is limiting the tables you can seat but when the employees seem to be in no rush to seat or serve, this is when I lose alittle patience. They have outdoor seating that they weren't using as well and the weather was warm but nice. You know when you just feel that people are doing a job but don't really enjoy it so their smile is just part of the uniform, that's how I felt. Food was 5/5. Service was 2/5.
