Loved it! A friend and I went there she recommended it. One slight - There was a wait (20 minutes) with 4 tables in view that were cleaned and open. Other than that it was absolutely good food, great waitress and prices were okay compared to other restaurants in the area who have raised their prices but the food and service stayed the same (nothing special). I had Avocado Toast and it was excellent. My friend said it was a franchise, I sure hope it does not get lazy with their menu and service like a lot of chain restaurants do. There's a new Breakfast/Brunch meetup in the Burg!! First Watch! Highly recommend!! They opened one week ago, yesterday and we were there!! Our server was Jessi, and she was super attentive and so very friendly. The food was excellent!! My husband had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes which he really enjoyed, and I concur that that the lemon curd was very tasty, along with the million dollar bacon that was incredible!!!!!. I had the classic eggs Benedict which I dearly loved the flavor, I could have used a bit more Hollandaise (personal preference), and of course the Purple Haze as my beverage with it's sweet lavender flavor that really complimented the entire meal, also fresh fruit and the MD bacon of course. Returned again yesterday because we couldn't wait to try more! This was my third time as we "practiced" on the store in Richmond, the weekend prior to our opening here. Once again it didn't disappoint!!! From the first bite to the last, in a word, incredible!! The banana nut muffin was a new item for us this time, and oh my word was it ever so fantastic along with my hot Earl Grey tea, and traditional breakfast that was customized with Scrambled eggs and Gruyere cheese, MD bacon..(that I must now get every time I go), and of course the sizeable bowl of fresh fruit!! The atmosphere is wonderful too!! There are very comfortable padded half booths and chairs, and heated outdoor seating also available. I can't wait to bring my BFF next time!! As a new restaurant service was a bit slow which can be expected. Food arrived after approximately 35-40 minutes and was cold. Server was also working the outside area so that may explain it. Overall the food was good and at least worth another try. Probably best not to go during lunch unless you have the day off or don't need to worry about getting back work. read more

This is the worst meal we have had. Super long wait. Waiter never checked on us. Wait to get in was 40 minutes, then another 45 minutes to get the food. The biscuit on our biscuit and gravy meal was burnt. The waffle meal was missing all it's toppings. And both orders of potatoes were way undercooked. I have been to the First Watch in Raleigh, NC and it was an amazing experience. They took pride in the food that was sent out and everything was perfect. The Lynchburg location was the total opposite. Right off the bat, the experience was horrible. We added our name to the waitlist online where it said 40 minute wait, received a notification that when we arrive to check in. When we arrived, we were told that it would be an additional 40 minutes to an hour. What is the point in adding your name to the waitlist/ reservation if you are not going to honor it. You had servers on their phones every time they walked away from the table and it must be a horrible place to work at because every person on the staff was extremely grumpy. Once we're finally sat (86 minutes including the online checkin wait time) service was poor. Food came out within 30 minutes but it was subpar. Just as an example, I had potatoes as the base of my meal and half of them were not cooked and the other half were extremely burnt. My whole meal tasted like they scraped the bottom of the pan and gave me the burnt remnants of potatoes. Adding and excessive amount of hot sauce could not mask the overly burnt taste of the dish. Several other customers today (including my group) had similar complaints about the food as well today. Willing to try again in a few months, but it is not a place I am going to take family or friends to any time soon. Maybe in a few months I will try again. The additional wait time and poor service is forgivable, but the food is not. You are paying for a decent brunch and when the food is not up to standard, it leaves a bad taste in a customers mouth. Zero Stars is what they deserve. 12 people in the place that were already eating. My wife and I waited for 25 minutes after getting seated and no service. Two other groups of two came in and got seated and received drinks and food while we did not even have a waiter acknowledge our presence. Service is horrible! I will never spend a dime here. I will make sure to tell all of my coworkers about this experience. This is my 3rd visit and there is always an issue. First Watch on Timberlake road is a disaster. So many friends and family members as well raved about First Watch food. Open only for breakfast and lunch only, my wife and I were really disappointed with the food quality. For example, my potatoes were way over cooked, almost burnt as if it were sitting on the griddle too long. Also places like First Watch seem to equate small portions, e.g., half a slice of toast, with breakfast being high end food. What nonsense. I have to agree with the other reviews that touted poor service. There were 2 people standing at the desk to seat people who just looked at us and stood there when we came in, neither of them willing to move to seat us. When I spoke up and we were seated, we waited 15 minutes and still no one acknowledged that we were there to ask if we'd like to order, no drinks, nothing. Other people sitting there the same amount of time with no service and waiting for their bill. We left. As we passed the front desk again on the way out, there were FIVE workers just standing there talking, doing nothing. Very poor service and it's a shame. read more

I have been to many First Watch restaurants over the last thirty years, even the legacy location in Bradenton, FL where the corporate headquarters are located. I've tried this First Watch numerous times since opening and was thrilled that we finally got one here in Lynchburg. This location struggles with kitchen consistency which historically has been a hallmark of First Watch franchises across the country. I get the same thing every time so I see firsthand how inconsistent their food prep is. One time my pancakes are just as I ordered them. The next time it looks like the cook took a hamburger press and flattened them out so that its like eating shoe leather. The servers are usually well-trained and friendly now but management had trouble finding quality servers when they first opened. For the prices First Watch charges, customer expectations are going to be high but FW doesn't consistently deliver high quality food to justify those high prices. read more

Went on Friday, Oct 7 about 11:00. Nice building, larger than I expected; decor is warehouse glitzy, with high ceilings and pipes visible...very modern. Also very noisy, like an Italian cafeteria. Took a while to be seated as the lovely greeter was also made to ring up customers, so she was doing double-duty. Wait staff was not trained; no smiles, no greetings, just grimaces like they were all dying; no smiles, no personality. Menu: a bit too large, VERY pricey for what you get. I ordered Eggs Benedict with a side of cheesy grits. The Eggs Benedict were okay except that the ham was cold.... refrigerator cold. Attempts to send it back were useless as waitress didn't come back by for 35 min. On the platter was a small knot of arugula...a weedy clot called a salad?? The best part of the meal was the little bowl of cheesy grits, very small and very pricey. They did bring a carafe of coffee, but beware it is very roasted. We ordered water but it never came. My friend ordered the much-hyped "Million Dollar Bacon" only to have it arrive undercooked (nowhere even near crisp) and overly sweet (when asked, found out they dribbled it with pancake syrup). Prices for all were epic...my 2 little eggs benedict and small serving of grits was almost $21 and then you have to tip on top of that. I know things have gone up rapidly, yada yada, but to turn a rather so-so breakfast into a $26 meal is ridiculous. I MAY go back for a sandwich in 6 mos...but they have GOT to train their waitstaff better. Be prepared for a two-hour breakfast at least. I've been there twice now and the first time I went on a Sunday, which I expected a wait, was unsure if I should use the online wait list, should have, my bad. I see a lot of poor ratings but I think people can be harsh if they have never been in service industry. You've got to know if you go to a breakfast/brunch place on a weekend it's going to be super busy and it's a lot! That being said I had BLT eggs Benny and it was good, the eggs poached perfectly and hollandaise was a little too lemony for myself and also my son that came with but potatoes were great, Bloody Mary was perfectly spiced and the server was delightful. I went back for lunch with my DIL and we both got chicken Avacado salad, Delish!!! The Roast beef & Havarti is to die for also! Once again service was on point. I will be back frequently. Good food takes effort on all sides. People need to know that a really good restaurant gets busy, staff doesn't always show up, the cooks are overwhelmed at times and the wait staff has to multitask like many people cannot do. Knowing that this is that good of a restaurant it would be a good idea to use the online "get in line" option on their website.
