I saw this place while shopping at Meijer one day and thought this will be a breakfast stop one day and since I was going shopping I stopped for breakfast. I was greeted, seated and menued right away, that should be a word. The menu is full of some great breakfast items and specials but I would keep it simple with the eggs, potatoes, toast and pork sausage links. My server did a great job but forgot my water which came after my food. My breakfast looked great with good quality food I noticed. First off you can see that the toast is good quality bread and the pork sausage links were the plump style. The eggs were cooked perfect and tasty. The potatoes were seared golden with a little onions in them that I liked and seasoned nicely. The toast was the whole grain hearty style from an artisan kind of loaf from a good bakery, no store shelf bread here. The pork sausage links were tasty and super juicy to my surprise. Wow I'm impressed with the great quality breakfast that they are serving. I totally enjoyed my breakfast and I would definitely recommend stopping by for a visit. read more

For those of us who consider breakfast food the only type of food that matters... there's First Watch. It's a chain with a handful of locations around the burbs here in the metro Milwaukee area (as well as throughout the country.) Their "thing" is they are only open from 7 am to 2:30 pm (ie "first watch") So they are concentrating on nicely done breakfast dishes, including a huge healthy food section. They have more lunch-y sandwiches and salads but once I see pancakes, eggs and bacon everything else kind of slips away. I had the pumpkin pancake platter from their seasonal menu-a chicken sausage patty (delicious and not over cooked) two eggs your way and of course a giant perfectly cooked pumpkin pancake. Real maple syrup is available for a small upcharge as is sugar free. The meal was nicely plated, served hot, and overall delicious. It was just the right amount of food. They have an extensive juice menu if you're into that sort of thing and bring you a pot of coffee when you sit down. I've read other locations throughout the country serve alcohol but not sure about this location. Everything was clean and the decor was sort of modern meets country. The quantity is sufficient and we never leave hungry but we also never leave feeling bloated which is good point in their favor. The service is hit-or-miss; sometimes the waiters are really paying attention and helpful and sometimes they are just not walking around enough. We been here when it is very busy and very light and it was still hit-or-miss. I really liked this place. I am sick of the same eggs and bacon and this menu delivers on creativity. Everything is cage free or freshly squeezed. I had the Asian Pork Belly Bowl which came in around $10.95. It remined me of the bibimbap they used to have at Locavore at Potawatomi. Two eggs were perched on rice and some perfectly seared pork belly. On top of that was Siracha and some pickled carrots. There were some jalapenos too if you needed more heat. You mix everything together and eat. Hubby is a meat and potatoes guy so he stuck with the sausage and eggs. The accompanying potatoes were a bit over done. The service was so quick to seat us the second we walked in and it took 5 minutes to get our food to us from when we ordered. My2nd time to a First Watch, both in the Milwaukee area and both times for breakfast. Impressive menu from traditional pancakes to some rather imaginative dishes. Seated immediately. coffee showed up soon thereafter. Person who seated us also provided menus at the same time. A nice time saving gesture. Very soon she came back to take our orders and I had not even picked up the menu yet. Service was almost too efficient. Placed our orders. within a very few minutes (and I do mean very few) our food arrived. Mine was warm but not hot. Both entrees were quite good and were ample without burying you in too much food. Two breakfasts, 2 coffees at $4 each, tax and tip was $40. Now I don't go out very much to eat. Too cheap I guess. My wife has a far more active social calendar than I do and she found the prices to be quite acceptable for the quality of the food and the attentive service. On a side note, I love their coffee cups. Big, white mugs with a handle large enough for those of us with short, stubby fingers to hold comfortably. We tried First Watch in Oak Creek through a couple of take-out orders. It was not great but thought the travel time affected the quality. So we gave it a shot by coming in and eating. The greeting was rushed even though it was not busy. There were plenty of people working but mostly standing around talking to each other. It took over 10 minutes before we saw our server. We ordered and they were out of some ingredients. The order came out with missing items, one of the dishes was cold and the pancakes came without syrup. It took another 10 minutes before we saw out server to get the order corrected. When we got the food it was not any better than the take out after we got it home. My girlfriends and I wanted to catch up over lunch, and none of us had ever tried First Watch before. The decor was light and airy, and although it was pretty busy, we were able to be seated right away and offered coffee. The waiter gave us an appropriate time to peruse the menu. I went with decaf coffee , which was good if a little watered down, and the Tri-fecta. My eggs were scrambled exactly like I like them- fully cooked. One slice of bacon got a little overdone, but it wasn't terrible. I chose the Belgian waffle over the multigrain pancake, and it was a little crispy and light inside. I rarely order waffles, because I don't like the way the butter just sits on top. The waffle came out hot enough that the butter mostly melted. The star was the berry compote. It was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. The only thing that would have taken it up a notch would have been a dollop of light cream. My mug and fork both had food residue on it, but our waitress was quick to remedy the issue and apologize. We ordered the Floridian French toast and Market skillet hash. The fruit on the French toast was fresh which I appreciated. It had the perfect amount of sweetness but I've had French toast with better bread elsewhere. The market skillet hash had a great variety of veggies and cheese, which was really delicious. It was a bit bland but some hot sauce helped out with that issue.
