Lemon Ricotta Pancakes
Jenna W.

Great brunch restaurant! It's popular for a reason so make sure to arrive before 10:30 on the weekends or join their online waitlist. We luckily only had to wait 5 minutes for a table for 2 and our waiter brought coffee over immediately. They had a special seasonal menu with summer themed items, as well as their usual menu full of variety. I ordered the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and loved them! Food came out quickly within 15mins. I was not expecting my pancakes to be so huge, they were as large as the 12in plate! Plus it was a stack of 2 pancakes that large. They were light and extremely fluffy, very flavorful even without maple syrup and the toppings. The lemon jam on top mixed with chunks of strawberries was delicious! A perfect mix of tart and sweet, wish there was more to taste with every bite. I wasn't sure if the ricotta was in the lemon mix or between the 2 pancakes though. The dish was large enough to fill me up and still have half leftover for later. Only downside is $14+ for pancakes is a bit expensive, but the quality was worth it.

This is always one of my favorite places for breakfast! We always try to get in the digital waitlist. We still had to wait a little but on a Saturday that happens. My husband and I both got hot green tea and waters. I ordered the avocado toast with fried hard eggs and added bacon. My husband got the turkey burger...and in his words...the best he has ever had. My breakfast was so fresh, delicious, and felt like the best choice.

First Watch is a solid brunch spot. Cute country decor, delicious food and friendly service. My husband and I went there last weekend. We got biscuits and gravy and smoked salmon benedict. And coffee...they leave a carafe of coffee on your table so you can refill your mug when you are ready. Highly recommend getting there early on the weekends.

This was a pretty decent visit to First Watch. I always appreciate the wide variety of health conscious items throughout their menu, which makes it super easy to find something when you have dietary restrictions. It was quite clean inside and the staff did a nice job keeping up with things during the morning rush. I decided to try the Frittata Rustica, with ham added to it (& without any dairy) and it was pretty yummy! Roasted tomatoes are always so dang delicious, and they were definitely my favorite part of the frittata. I don't eat gluten, so I asked to substitute the bread for a side of potatoes, and I'm really glad they were able to do that for no extra charge. It was the tiniest portions of potatoes I've ever had BUT I was still grateful that they were able to make that adjustment for me! I wasn't a fan of the dressing for the greens and it just tasted a lot like mayonnaise for some reason. Service was pretty good, except the waitress accidentally forgot to put in the juice I had ordered. It worked out just fine because I ended up being perfectly full by the end of this meal, and the juice would have been too much. Our waitress was very kind and offered to bring me the juice at no charge. I'll certainly be back sometime and I really recommend trying First Watch if you have not done so already! I think it's a great place to go if you're looking for expand your taste pallet to some healthy, yet delicious foods.

We enjoyed our experience here. I'd been to a First Watch in another state so I knew what to expect. It was my husband's first time visiting and he thought it was the best food we had while in Pittsburgh. I got the honey caramel crunch iced coffee and it was perfect - very sugary with a touch of coffee haha. I also ordered an omelette with a side of the million dollar bacon and it was delicious! My husband got an eggs Benedict (I think) with a side pancake and he enjoyed both. The pancake was just sweet enough to satisfy that craving and it was very fluffy and HUGE. Our son got the kids grilled cheese and he demolished it so I guess he approved! The service was great, we were offered refills, checked on several times and got food recommendations from our waiter. The place has a lot of tables packed in there. We did feel like we got a few stares from time to time being so close to others, but it was okay. The front where you pay is also kind of small and awkward as it quickly gets full in the front and it's a bit difficult to maneuver around people waiting to be seated. The price is slightly higher than it could be, but the quality of the food is worth it.

Another delicious breakfast from First Watch! I only wish there was a location closer to me. The food was fresh and delicious. The coffee was hot and had a nice flavor. The service was pretty good, they were very busy. The building was packed. The restaurant had a very long wait this time, over 50 minutes.

Stopped at a First Watch for the first time today and......WOW. The food was just amazing!! The best breakfast I've ever had and I'm 54 so that's a lot of breakfasts!! I had the eggs benny florentine and it was sooooo freaking good. My wife had the multigrain pancake and sausage and she's never had a pancake that good!! Keep up the good work!! The service was also exemplary!!!

Shrimp & Grits

This was my first experience with First Watch. They had a special summer menu, and I chose shrimp and grits, and kale tonic from it. I was impressed that they make their own juice with fresh ingredients. My kale tonic was yummy. The shrimp and grits were also quite good with plenty of butter and Cajun seasoning. We came in a small group, and they accommodated us well with an extra chair at a booth. Service was friendly and prompt. They had an extensive menu, and everything looked so good. I will definitely be back for more!

Have been going here a few times now and the food is consistently above average. The wait staff is kind and quick. When it is busy, it can feel very loud and crowded but it's worth a try.

What a wonderful little place to eat! Just saw it today and ate there. Since it was our first visit they gave me free million dollar bacon! What a way to wow me!! Our hostess and server were both so nice and friendly!! i ordered the million dollar potatoes. they were good but could have been better if they werent burnt.. but the waitress assured me it was because we were there late and potatoes scorched staying warm. they dont use microwaves. the tomato soup was excellent. husband had Monterey sandwich. so much turkey!! he brought half home!! i never get decaf coffee out but our server said it is made separate from regular coffee. it was soooo good! i cannot wait to return!! 0Planning for lunch on my birthday!!

Big bug with wings found in my food. Pretty sure it was in the 'million dollar potatoes' I got because I didn't see it until I dumped those out. Just really disgusted I was eating food with a dead bug in it. Food was good, they just need to work on their sanitary issues clearly.

First watch is a classic. I enjoy my visit there each time. The staff is friendly and the app to check in makes arrival a breeze. The ambience full of every. This time I tried an egg white omelet and it was flavorful with a side of fruit, we split the candied bacon which was fantastic.

Downey's House provided the local spot I needed. An ice cold Yuengling on draft went down very well, and while I didn't find pierogis on the menu, I settled for a phenomenal bowl of spaghetti & meatballs. Local marinara & meatballs made with the same recipe of the old Main Hotel that was in Carnegie for nearly 100 years. That bowl of pasta was SCRUMPTIOUS and just what I was after. I even talked my lovely wife into doing up her salad 'Pittsburgh style', which means adorning the salad with fries. And yes, it's as good as it sounds. Thrown in a protein like grilled chicken and that is a banger of a meal. Great dining area with a square-shaped bar and TVs with sight-lines in any direction. The service is friendly and helpful, and prices are probably lower than at some chain-y eatery that just makes your food via assembly line. It's local and sensational!

Not bad. Still edible. Later, when he asked about the manicotti & I said it was amazing, he asked if it was better than the soup. I said it was much much better and that I knew next time I visited I'd get the Caesar salad instead of the soup. He said he'd bring one to go, since their Caesar dressing is amazing. I said that wasn't necessary, but he brought one anyway. Wow. Portions are very large (without the extra salad, my manicotti would still be three meals for me) & the food is delicious. I explained that I was not from the area and where I was sitting and she barked "we don't really have a sign! I don't know if this was just an for the kitchen staff but food wise was not the best especially for a $45 bill!
