A delightful breakfast option right off of Glenwood Avenue. We visited on a Sunday morning around 9am and were seated promptly. Bright decor; nice patio. Best part of the meal? The coffee pot remained on the table! I tried the cranberry nut oatmeal and substitute the English muffin side for Rye toast with some of the seasonal fig preserve the restaurant was promoting. The fig preserve was really tasty. I know it's a bit of a strange combo (figs + rye) but it worked for me. The oatmeal was HEARTY! Banana, dried cranberries, and pecans. No skimping. In retrospect, I think the oatmeal itself would have been plenty (took some of my toast home). My partner ordered the Market Hash, which he devoured. Would love more vegan breakfast options (a tofu scramble?!) but for our first trip to First Watch, we both left very full and satisfied. We had great service. When my toast first arrived buttered, I didn't have to say more than two words to our server and he already realized the error and promptly took care of it. We will definitely be back! read more

Good place for a casual brunch. I hadn't been to Raleigh in a while, so it was kind of cool seeing the old Boston Market be transformed into something so open-floor-plan-y like this. I didn't eat so well the day before, so to counter that they have a healthy section to their menu, which I gladly partook in. I ordered the power wrap (From menu "Egg whites, turkey, spinach, house-roasted Crimini mushrooms and Swiss in a sun-dried tomato basil tortilla. Served with fresh fruit and a side of housemade salsa") and it was pretty good! Salsa was nice and spicy, ingredients were treated and seasoned well... my only two complaints were 1) the wrap was sitting in it's own juice when it arrived, and it was soggy on the bottom, and 2) this is just my personal taste, but there were a ton of egg whites on there, it may have overpowered the other ingredients a little... Nonetheless, I'll absolutely come back here next time I'm in Raleigh and check it out again! There were a ton of options and the plates that my family got looked great as well. read more

I had the traditional breakfast, 2 eggs over medium, bacon, home fried potatoes, English muffin, and coffee. My fella had the Triathlete omlette with home fried potatoes. I must comment on the coffee first. I'm a bit of a coffee snob (grind my own beans at home, French press, yada yada), so I was not expecting a cup of coffee that was up to my standards, but the coffee here is a-ok. I was impressed. The sugar offered is turbinado, which is fine by me, that's what I use at home. So - very good java. I asked for my eggs over medium, and they were done right. I asked for my bacon extra crispy and it was perfectly done. The home fries were not deep fried, always happy about that! To me, home fries should be made on the flat top grill and caramelized with some onions. First Watch does it right. My fella's omlette was about what he expected, could have been bigger and had more filling, but all in all a pretty normal omlette. He liked the potatoes as well. Everything was fresh, done the way we asked, and delivered to out table hot ind a reasonable amount of time considering they were fairly crowded. There are a number of things I'm looking forward to trying on their menu, and they do tempt you to come back by having you fill out a rewards card where they send you coupons and free offers. Excellent service, prompt arrival of food, healthful options, and reasonable prices! Wife and I had the kale and carrot based juices. Both are excellent. I juice at home but the wife doesn't like it. She loved these juices. They are filtered after being pressed. I don't filter mine. Go figure. The juices are VERY reasonably priced at $3.99 each for a 12 or 16oz glass. Hit up other stores in the area for a similar juice and you're looking at $6.99+ for the same thing. Wife had Keywest Crepeggs and it was a perfectly savory crepe! I had the works omelette and it was packed with meat and cheese and the fresh, cool tomatoes provided a nice contrast to the hot dish. The served was extremely attentive. Ordering a coffee nets you the whole pot. Love this place and will definitely return sooner than later! read more

We are now regulars at this restaurant and I thought I would update my initial review. I have never had a disappointing experience at first watch. The manager or owner is almost always on site and all of the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I appreciate receiving a carafe of water so I don't have to constantly ask for refills. They always get my order correct, even when it's quite fiddly: eggs over medium, half-caf coffee, etc. my favorite standard menu item is the carrot cake pancake. If you get one of the breakfast combos that it's a pancake, you can choose any flavor of pancake. If I could make two small suggestions: first, the items on the seasonal menus are awesome. So maybe switching them out a little more frequently would be good? The new spring ones just came up and they are both great (chilequiles and strawberry cheesecake stuffed French toast), but I know the fall specials were up all winter. The other suggestion is to see if you might build a stall and add another toilet at least in the women's room. When you have a popular and crowded restaurant, more than one toilet would make the line go faster. In fact, I wonder if it is time to open up another restaurant or move to a larger space? Don't go far though, we like having you in the neighborhood. read more

Overall everything was good, but a few sticking points dragging it down. We had a great experience with wait times. Got there early, put our names in, and by the time the later guests arrived we were seated, about perfectly on par with the wait estimate we were given. Sitting outside was really nice on a perfect day, but also because it was much quieter. Service was perfectly fine and our food was pretty good overall. I had the carrot cake pancakes, another had French toast. They let my boyfriend sub grits in for meat on his trifecta, and the forth diner got her custom oatmeal just right. So why only three stars? Because my boyfriend's sunny side up eyes came out under cooked. He didn't want to make a stink about it, but I could see the whites jiggle that under cooked jiggle as they were served to him. He realized after digging in I was right. I have a major issue when a breakfast place cannot serve eggs correctly, especially when it's so obvious that they are under. The chefs should know better and the wait staff too. It's dangerous. Yes, we should have spoken up, but it should never have happened. I understand poached eggs being under or over, but not something you can see by eye. Second, three of us got breakfast food that usually are eaten with syrup, and I had to ask for it. Again, I don't feel like we should have to ask for that. I'll stick to another First Watch next time, or pick someplace local read more

As myself and another minority are waiting for service, one of the attendants helped a white couple at the register then leave to help a gentleman (white) at his table. After helping the gentleman she totally leaves and does not return to help us. Reminded me of a cosmopolitan Cracker Barrel without the country store. I enjoyed the trifecta breakfast which is the same as Denny's $4 Slam but for double the amount. Yes, it is a little pricey but well worth it for wifi, clean ambiance, and good service without the "diner feel" to it. The manager opened the door for me on my way in. I had coffee and water for my drinks. Coffee was great, but not sure if they have ice as my water did not. I would have given them a five star if their was more than one restroom to use. read more
