I was seated instantly (apparently seat yourself) and was greeted immediately by Kelci,, a great server with a very pleasant and beautiful smile and a very professional and efficient demeanor. I ordered the grilled catfish with mashed potatoes and green beans. The catfish was surprisingly good with a nice flavor (even though the filet was almost tiny, luckily I wasn't too hungry, it still tasted good and the tartar sauce is came with was perfect). The sides I had were mashed potato's (again, nice flavor but no gravy) and the green beans were pretty fresh even though probably from a can, and those were pretty bland. Funny thing is there were no bread options for the meal but it was lunchtime so maybe that's why? They also have a large selection of desserts which Kelci helped me pick through. I got a slice of German chocolate cake which was huge and delicious, I couldn't finish it. Also the tea is good old southern tea, I had the half and half because it's pretty sweet but that's the way it's supposed to be! Overall the place was very clean and smelled nice. There's ample parking outside and the location is convenient. I will probably come back when in the area but won't make a drive from where I live in Cartersville just to eat here. So overall I'm giving 5 stars for the excellent service (thank you Kelci), 4 stars for the food, 3 for the atmosphere (kick up the music to add in some modern rock or something!) and 5 stars for cleanliness, parking and location. A quick online search of the area revealed this IHOP, and it was within 2 miles of the hotel. Positives: - Conveniently located close to downtown Rome. - They are open 24 hours, so no waiting for them to open. - The staff was friendly. - The restaurant was clean. - They had plenty of parking in a shared lot. - The food was prepared fairly quickly after we ordered. - The meal was good, and we even had some food left that (with a bit of augmenting) served as our breakfast on our 2nd day. We both got one of the standard sampler plates - eggs, toast, bacon/sausage, and hash browns. The coffee was fine too. I couldn't really think of any negatives from our meal here. Sure, it is a simple, chain breakfast place. But given the other options in the Rome area, and the experience we had, I can't point to anything that I'd request be improved. I haven't eaten at a wide variety of IHOPs in the last decade or so, but this one was much better than the prior one that I can recall. If you are in this area and need to grab breakfast outside of your hotel, this is a solid choice.

However, once something like that happens, it's difficult to feel comfortable accepting another item prepared in the same environment. In addition to the food issue, the overall cleanliness of the restaurant was concerning. The floors were sticky, the restrooms appeared poorly maintained, and the drink station area did not look clean. These details matter, especially in a food establishment. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes improvements to sanitation and food handling practices.

Gym weight equipment was essentially non-functional as all thepoarts had loose bolts and pulley/cable links broken. Barnsley has started to become a dump. I'd bet Private Equity now owns some or all of it and has pulled their usual "strip away expenses and maintenance and no one will notice", as decided by a 24 year old finance major.
