When I enjoy the slice of bread most in a dish which has egg and hollandaise sauce as key ingredients, something is terribly wrong. Ordered the tri-feta with over easy eggs, regular pancake, and pork sausage. Eggs were cooked well, pancake was not a pancake...had a weird texture, and there was a single sausage link. For over 10 dollars this was not a good meal. Daughter ordered two banana pancakes, however the kitchen only made one. It was quite large so she was good with just the lone pancake and liked it. I tasted it, still had the weird texture as mine. Wife had an omelette, which like my eggs seemed cooked well. Place is always crowded but I don't get it, I found it unappealing and expensive. I was in the neighborhood and had heard good things regarding "First Watch." Hungry for breakfast, I thought, I would give it a try. The interior was cute. It was not very busy either. My waitress was not overly enthusiastic that morning and never introduced herself to me. So, we all have off days, I thought. They serve you a pitcher of water on your table and if you order coffee, the same. The first problem, the water glasses were dirty. I noticed the table nearby had to send their glasses back also. Next, the coffee was awful. It tasted like it was sitting in someone's office on the burner all day. Then I had to search for a normal plastic creamer, among the little dish of plastic creamers. Couldn't drink the water, it tasted worse than the coffee. That's sad, bad coffee and I can't drink their water either. Ok, so I order the power wrap and ask for it without mushrooms and ask for gruyere cheese. It arrives and is super bland. I can't find any turkey. I don't carry a microscope in my purse and heck, what happened to my cheese? They left off the mushrooms but forgot to sub the cheese. What a bland tasting wrap! It was terrible! The best part of breakfast was the fruit! I happened to use the restroom prior to leaving. I prefer not to go into detail regarding the cleanliness of the women's restroom. First time there on Thursday, 10/24. The interior is super cute, kind of rustic, farm-y, large space. The server was pretty friendly but being told that we've never been there, she set down the check and never came back. ‍ I ordered a special that will be going away come November, truffle and mushroom omelette. It was came with fruit, which in general I think is kind of weird depending on the season and what's in the fruit bowl. It also came with a slice of ciabatta with a nice little spread but nothing special. The omelette had plenty of mushrooms, which I liked, but considering truffles and mushrooms are so similar it needed another flavor. It also came with a weird little bed of arugula on top. The ciabatta bread was more like a bread stick with butter on it. Very hard with cold butter which I don't like butter. I think this was the third time stopping here but the first time for eating here. If you do not get here early expect a significant wait. This is inside of a strip mall so there is not a lot of seating so after 9am there starts to get a longer and longer wait. I got the turkey sausage gravy and biscuits with scrambled eggs. I am the biggest sucker for a good photo. What do I see right when walking in but a burrito photo the size of me almost and I knew I had to have it lol. We were quickly sat, was truly shocked there was no wait on a Saturday at 10 but I'm not complaining! Our server was fast, friendly and attentive. Very surprising find! I work in the area, and I watched the building that this restaurant is housed in go up about a year ago, figuring nothing terribly special would open in a strip mall. Accordingly I didn't even bother trying out until this past weekend when I finally got around to reading the yelp reviews. In the end it was so good we went two days in a row. They were terribly busy the second day, and my wife noticed how well the hostess was managing things. Indeed she was welcoming new customers, in addition to ringing up exiting customers. Everyone was being treated fairly and in order. The menu is varied and full of interesting items. I tend to like a spicier breakfast, so I went with breakfast tacos the first day and their chickichanga The next day. Both were terrific, and had just the right amount of ingredients without being silly. The service was wonderful throughout, and made us feel very welcome. Better than average coffee didn't hurt either. I'm very happy for this place, and I hope to be back soon. read more

The restaurant was very busy so I knew the food would be good. So here is what was good - the coffee. The rest was disappointing. It was extremely loud. I know restaurants are noisy because they contain people who love to talk in between bites but this was ridiculous. When the eggs Benedict arrived to the table I had to laugh. The eggs were the size of a quarter and the Canadian ham was just a few slices of deli ham. It was on a long roll. Can't afford English muffins I guess. Next to this disaster was a plate half full of lettuce. No flavor. I ordered a pancake hoping for a reprieve from boring and was not disappointed. It was boring as well. Famous franchise. I've tried other locations too, and they all have the same casual, busy vibe. Waiting time can be long on weekend afternoons, but that was expected. It will take a little bit even after you're seated for food to come etc, but the staffs are great! Very attentive, constantly checking on you, and they'll let you know they're there. I think the conversation while waiting for the food is sort of the point of weekend brunch with friends anyway, so I think it's actually great. Plus, it's not THAT long; probably 15-20 minutes. This time I tried the morning market veg omelet. All omelets are served with toast and a side salad. Good portion--nothing too big, but not too small either. The toast was very tasty! To me, the texture is the soul of a good toast, and theirs are great. The salad was fresh and the dressing was light. The omelet was not as fluffy, but it contained generous fillings. All of that is pretty minor except for our lukewarm food! It is also on the loud side in there as well if you care about those things! I love first watch, and can't seem to get enough of them. I've eaten at a few different locations across the country, and got hooked on them when I lived in Phoenix. They seem to be farm fresh, and serve somewhat healthier food. I finally had a chance to eat breakfast here and I loved it as always. Place is well decorated with plenty of seating. The hostess and staff were friendly and personable and helped me navigate the menu to figure out what to order. I don't eat pork, so it was nice to see a menu that wasn't loaded with tons of pork options for breakfast or lunch. I ended up getting their breakfast tacos which were fabulous and filling. I got them with chicken and all the fixings, including diced potatos. My server was fabulous and friendly, and even though it was a bit cold inside, I loved every minute of it. I also love how the place is decorated. Modern, farmy and welcoming is just the half of it. Also, their portion sizes are great and prices are fair for what you get. Update: I'm here for a second time. I really like the check in feature that they have with yelp. It works really well and I'd highly recommend using it if you are going to come here. The first thing that happens when you're sat down is they ask if you want coffee. Cool I guess. I feel pressured into it. It's not bad coffee for a breakfast place, which is a plus. The negative however is that the waiter did not even ask if we wanted water or what we even wanted to drink. Just coffee. The service still is subpar here. It's like they want to turn your table around as quickly as possible. Took a very long time to get our food. I got the parma hash and the person I came with got the avocado toast. The waiter never came back to check up on us to see if the food was good. My partner said that not checking up is the "cardinal sin" of being a waiter. She only came back to hand us the bill. If there's one thing I hate in this world it's having a lick hit on me. I had a lick and a half hit on me with this place. The skillet was 90% potato. It tasted more fresh than the last time, but the quality is just not there. Everything tastes like it has been sitting in the refrigerator for a week. Flavorless. Parts of it were cold too while other parts were piping hot. How is that possible. My company said the avocado toast was good, but not stellar. If you wanted to serve frozen food and it tasted great, I'd be fine with that. But to serve food that you claim is fresh and isn't, that is also a woeful attempt at having flavor, is unforgivable. The coffee that they force on you, they charge each person there $2.78 for a cup. They never picked up any of the trash from our table. It just sat there the entire dinning experience. So I take it they aren't going to kick people out when they arrive 10 minutes before close. I don't have high expectations of the food since they don't have a high standard for their hostess staff for a customer service business. The hostess has walked by me 5-6 times and not once assured me that my food would be coming out. My food took about 15 minutes to come out. The bacon on their carry out bag is telling of their heavy praise of meat at this place. The veggie burger was dry and tasteless, though big in size. The side of greens was less than stellar and it tasted like a shot of vinegar was sprayed onto the salad. My hubby liked his power wrap, at least one of us enjoyed our meals. This worked well, we did have a short wait once arriving, but it was not bad in comparison to what we saw for others. The restaurant is warm and welcoming, the decor leans towards natural and simple. Troy, MI has recently been popping with new & hip restaurants, and First Watch was on the top of my list to visit! I was not disappointed; the place was busy but PRO TIP download First Watch's app so you can put your name down and escape the long wait. My friend and I ordered the Açaí squeeze to share, and it tasted fresh, tart, and healthy - everything I expected it to be. We also ordered the Matcha Latte Pancakes and The Elevated Egg Sandwich. The pancakes were SO soft and fluffy, but the matcha flavor was not strong at all. The sandwich was excellent. Overall, portions were hearty for a decent price! I'm satisfied with my experience. It was busy so the service (expected 45 min wait on a Sunday morning) was on the slower side. I was very excited to have breakfast here with my parents while they were in town. The menu was enticing as they offered plenty of healthy options. They also have plenty of gluten free options which is great. We started off with drinks, two hot teas and I ordered a featured Açaí juice. When the waitress was delivering our beverages things took a turn for the worse, she accidentally ended up tipping her tray and ultimately dumped my entire juice which was very red because it had açaí and beets in it all over my stepdads lap. I know the server was mortified but she kind of ran off without an apology and left a few other servers to come clean up the mess, we even had to move tables. A few minutes later the manager came out and was very apologetic and kind. She comped our entire meal and also gave him $20 for dry cleaning his clothes. (Aside from the fact that they have really tall windows to let in a lot of sunlight and to help heat the place up.) The food was really filling and delicious. I had the Bacado. It was an omelette with bacon and avocado. I really liked the dressing they used for the side salad. I don't usually finish the bread when I order breakfast plates like this, but I definitely wiped the plate clean. Great portion sizes when you're super hungry.
