But the wait didn't end there. The waitress took her time taking our order and then we waited for our food for about 30 ish mins. Never got checked on once. We did have a snack though because our water had leftover food in so we weren't too hungry waiting for our food. Other than sh*tty service and nasty water. The food was pretty great, so probably head to the First Watch in Newport News because I'd rather get shot there than go to this crappy one. read more

Doing some Christmas shopping and came here for breakfast during lunch time. It's our first visit here. We started with coffee of course...they have flavored creamers! Five stars just for that lol. We ordered their steak and hash meal and their carnitas breakfast burrito. Wow...it was truly amazing...the steak and egg has had some spinach with mushrooms and the flavor was so fresh. We loved the way the cheese was crispy on the breadstick that came with the steak and hash. The carnitas burrito was amazing...I love how the potatoes were crispy but tender. The beans and proportion of eggs, pork and everything was so tasty. Please see pic of the burrito cut in half so you can see the deliciousness yourself. The server was really good. I met some friends here for brunch on a Saturday mid-morning. They were quite busy and we were told a party of 5 would be about a 45-minute wait. Our friend realized there was a table outside vacant so we asked to take that one and they gave it to us. It was a beautiful day so we were happy. They were packed inside and with numbers increasing with COVID we were glad to be outside anyway. Our server came over and gave us menus. She was very nice and knowledgeable about the menus. I ordered a carrot crush and water. The crush was a mix of carrot, orange, coconut water, tumeric and lemon. It was delicious! As soon as I saw this particular item on the menu, I knew I had to have it...The Truffle Mushroom Mash. It came beautifully in a shallow bowl. Golden brown potatoes with onions, bacon and cheese, sauteed mushrooms, spinach and a truffle sauce over eggs (I preferred scrambled). This dish was one of the best brunch menu items I've ever had. My friends had pancakes and other items that even though I don't remember what they were, remember that they all loved it. I am so glad I finally had a chance to visit First Watch! I had bookmarked this place and pass a lot while driving and kept telling myself my next day off I was going to try it. Boy am I happy I did! I went on a Tuesday morning. It was not packed at all. It has an open concept with plenty of seating and natural light. I ordered the farm house hash which was a skillet. It was very good. Eggs Benny's are my brunch guilty pleasure, and they had a few on the menu to choose from. They kept the coffee coming and the food came out in a timely manner, considering it was so busy. The food was good, although I felt like the potatoes could have been a tad bit crispier. There is an item on the menu called million dollar bacon, which to be honest, is 4 expensive slices of bacon sweetened up with brown sugar and maple syrup and a little spice. I think if it were more than 4 slices, I would have been a little more satisfied with the price. But I really do like this brunch environment, and I am sure I will choose to come here again for a nice sit down morning. read more

I was a regular until earlier this year, when I bit down hard into a small twig buried in my Power Wrap. OMG, it hurt!! I had already overlooked a salty Farmhouse Hash and dry Floridian French Toast from this location on previous visits, but I couldn't ignore nearly chipping my teeth. And I could have choked on that stupid twig! I took the wrap to go and was eating it at work when this happened. The twig was a solid, rough piece of wood about an inch long. I wish I had taken a picture of it, but I quickly threw it away with the rest of the wrap as soon as I realized what it was. I called the manager, and he apologized. But he was defensive. Said it was probably just something they used to hold their sandwiches together. Yeah, right. That twig was something you wound pick off the ground...not find in a restaurant kitchen. Or at least you SHOULDN'T find small twigs on a kitchen work table where food is prepared. To be fair, most of the food and beverages I had before this incident were delicious. They offer a wide range of healthy dishes and fresh juices, portions are generous, and the presentation is visually appealing. Some of the servers were better than others but, for the most part, they did a nice job. I haven't gone back to a First Watch since, but I would as long as it's not this one. We were looking for breakfast around the area to accommodate 8 of us friends. We came across this place. We were seated in about 30 minutes and we had to wait outside in the cold. My wife ordered eggs benedict and one of the eggs was even missing in the plate that was served. It was just covered with a lot of Hollandaise sauce. We asked the waitress to serve a new plate of eggs benedict. When the new plate was served, the new eggs were even not done well. I ordered the scrambled eggs with mushrooms and potatoes but they were just fair. We ordered fresh squeezed orange juice but they just tasted like Florida naturals. Ambience was okay and the restrooms were clean. There were adequate parking spaces nearby. Honestly I don't recommend coming back to this place. read more

Nom nom nom! Had the special Smoked Salmon Tzaziki Toast, after taking forever to decide from all the fabulous menu items. So fresh, delicious and satisfying! I dont really care for radishes, but paired with everything else on the dish, it made for a delicious bite. This place is hopping at brunchtime on Saturday, but the wait was actually less than 20 mins, with quick and efficient table turnover. Service was excellent, and everything on the menu looked to die for. Open concept makes it quite loud inside, but we didn't mind and still enjoyed great conversation. Will return for sure! read more

The staff was friendly we were seated right away, we went on a Friday an hour before they were going to closed. Our waitress was lovely and kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. My friend got the tacos and he forgot to ask for sauce for his meal, but he took a bite and thought it was amazing he kept eating them and didn't care to ask for it anymore. Holy cow---yummy. My girlfriend and I shared the chicken salad melt and the sweet honey pecan salad. Both were amazing. The service was on point too. Just the right amount of attention! Especially since we had to send the salad back since it had the dressing on it and we'd asked for it on the side (since we were sharing i wanted one dressing and my friend wanted another). All fixed with minimal fuss. The one star lost was for the side salad to the chicken melt. It was just some greens with a bit of dressing. Really leaves a bit to be desired. I heard some good things about First Watch in Newport News but it is journey to get there from Virginia Beach for breakfast. So when I heard they opened a location here around the way, we decided to check it out and celebrate a birthday. The inside is beautiful with a farmhouse theme. Wooden floors and custom wooden tables with unique lights and decorations make it a welcoming place. We came in after 1 so the brunch crowd was starting to thin out as First Watch closed at 2:30. Our waitress was friendly but we barely saw her. She was probably busy getting the restaurant together since it was close to closing time. We ordered the Hacienda Hash and Farmhouse Skillet and since we were in a group, it came out a little later which is okay. The Hacienda Hash is a seasonal menu item which was delicious! The seasoned potatoes with chorizo and chipotle ketchup went extremely well with the eggs on top. The Farmhouse skillet was good too with the million dollar bacon. The bacon was super crispy and flavorful which was the star of the dish. Solid food and we will come back! read more

First watch is a quaint little brunching spot that I am very happy to have eaten at. There was a slight wait time, but we enjoyed some refreshing cucumber lemon water and hot coffee while we waited. Just a quick note, the vanilla creamer is soy based, so if you don't care for soy products (like my husband) stick to the original and hazelnut creamer. Once seated, we were greeted by our friendly waitress who introduced herself to us as Beth. We noticed the wait staff do not wear nametags, so it was nice that she introduced herself. We have never been there, so she recommended that we start off by trying the refreshing Kale Tonic drink or the Morning Meditation (a layered orange and beet drink). We couldn't decide, so we tried both and I loved them cause they were not very sweet and tasted so FRESH! The Morning Meditation was a definite favorite, but I am also low key obsessed with beets! My husband is a bit more traditional and enjoyed the fresh orange juice because he doesn't care for veggies in his drinks. Once we scanned the menu we decided to start with blueberry muffins (to hold us over until hot food came out), and followed them with million dollar bacon, the pork chop breakfast, smoked salmon benedict, and a lemon ricotta pancake. The muffins were good (contained nuts) and were topped with a coarse sugar which added a crunchy element! Husband enjoyed his all pork breakfast and some oatmeal with fresh berries (contains nuts). The smoked salmon benedict was a perfect size, not tiny and not big, and it quickly got devoured, along with a side of potatoes! The best item IMO was the lemon ricotta pancake with warm syrup, fresh strawberries, and the lemon curd topping. The food along with the attentiveness of our waitress (she came around just enough filling drinks, removing plates, and ensuring we were satisfied with our food) was spot on. Needless to say we left very happy and satisfied, and yet there are so many more items on the menu that I must try! We will certainly be back with friends! read more

Everything about this place was awesome. I was eating by myself and the community table made things pretty casual without feeling like I was taking a whole table from other patrons. The menu was simple and easy to navigate. I went with the ham and cheese and tomato soup lunch special. Hands down this is the best hot ham and cheese sandwich I've ever had! The bread was perfectly toasted and the mustard adds great flavor. The soup was also pretty great. Slightly textured so you could tell it wasn't poured out of a can. Probably my favorite breakfast chain. I moved to Las Vegas and they don't have any there so every time I'm home I make it a point to come here. The food was just as good as I remember. I ordered the farmhouse skillet hash. It normally comes with bacon, however they let me swap it for chicken sausage at no extra charge. I also ordered the seasonal juice "Red Medicine" which was a mix of cranberry, pomegranate, cinnamon. It was very good, slightly sweeter than I was expecting.
