As a Biddeford native, I was SO HOPEFUL to love this place. I came in for Biddeford Restaurant Week and got a half-order of fish and chips and the fried diver scallops. Both were extremely greasy (stomach aches all around), had too much batter. I wish I'd taken a photo but the scallops looked like UFO ships there was WAY too much batter and little flavor. Plus they forgot the 2 free ice creams advertised as a special for restaurant week. The best part were the fries and curry dip. We were extremely disappointed and based on the rave reviews are hoping it was just a bad day. However, we won't be rushing back anytime soon. read more

We eat at Fish & Whistle 1-2 times every month. We have had great food and friendly service every time! The fish is locally sourced from sustainable fisheries. The milk buns, used for any of the sandwiches, are baked in house and are AMAZINGLY good. It is fun to sit at the bar and watch all of the food being prepared. The portions are large, so pace yourself and leave room for the very tasty deserts! read more

Saw the good reviews and decided to give this new restaurant a try. It was actually pretty busy and only 30 minutes until closing. No problem for them. They courteously took our order and the food was out quickly and we never felt rushed. We both had the fish and chips, and it was delicious. The fish was very fresh and the breading was very light (I hate a ton of crust). The fries were also good. The slaw was just ok, but I think it was just a little different style than I was used to. The restaurant was nice and clean and service was good and pretty reasonable in price. Great spot for a quick meal. Glad to have them in Biddeford!! read more

Only had the chicken sandwich, but it was delicious. I'm a huge fried chicken addict and this stands up w any of the sandos. Nice fish style breading, perfect tangy slaw w buttery grilled roll and pickles. Partner had the fish and chips, high grades for the fish, chips were mediocre. That would be the only element that can use some elevation. Nice to see the wave of restaurants hitting Biddo! read more

I really enjoyed the way the restaurant was decorated. I really enjoyed the menu and the way that it was presented. I like how the atmosphere is laid-back and not very judgmental. Additionally the food is something you would only get it from a very talented person. The fish, french fries, the salad everything was excellent. The only thing I would caution you against is the coleslaw. It is very much tasting of celery seed. Not that it's bad. I don't like celery seed but but maybe others do. It was a really great place. Waitstaff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The BEST fish and chips we have ever had (and we've eaten them in London). We had the large portion and the fish stayed crispy crunching the entire meal. This place was every bit of what they advertised - some of the best fish and chips we've ever had. Three in our group had the sandwich and one had the half portion fish and chips. Service as quick the staff was attentive and working hard to keep the dining area available since the line started queuing back to the door right after it opened. read more

I stopped in today with my daughter who knows the menu well, so she made some recommendations. Everything we had was amazing. Fish chowder, fish-n-chips & the green goddess salad. We also had dessert which I believe was a melon (flan) topped with figs. I have never cared for melon but I finished every last bite. Not one complaint and I may have been voted most likely to complain more than once. Lol Thank you to all the staff and especially the owners. First time for take out. Easy online ordering. Delicious fish chowder. Light broth and plenty of fish. Bite basket was lightly breaded fish and scallops. Also yummy. This is simply the best seafood in Southern Maine. The attention that goes into every detail of the menu comes through to the last bite. I challenge you to find a better fried fish, chowder or fish sandwich in all of New England. The soft serve and desserts at Fish and Whistle are next level! We have a winner here folks! The large portion of fish was moist with an incredible crisp but light fried coating! The Chicken sandwich was also quite delicious, homemade flavor with the slaw and tartar sauce. Fries are straight up hand cut shoestring...no off oil flavors.... we can't wait to try the Squid! Stopped in today after reading the rave review in the paper. This little place does not disappoint. The fish is amazing. Best batter I've ever had. The service is fast but friendly. We had out food within 10 minutes. I only have two minor quibbles. The noise level makes conversation almost impossible and the pickles are teeny tiny. You can't go wrong with any selection on this menu; everything is beyond fresh and delicious. Unexpectedly, their biggest asset is the ice cream/sorbet. I recommend starting with their salad; extremely refreshing, and a perfect start before indulging in their delicious salt n vinegar dusted fries.
