Eager young waitstaff. Very pleasant and helpful. Fried shrimp was ok, but had an slight aftertaste like the oil in the fryer needed to be changed. Or the shrimp spent too much time in the freezer. The Herb crusted Cod Oscar was disappointing. It was served Luke-warm. Tasted bland, perhaps more Hollandaise sauce. Biggest disappointment was the scarce amount of crab meat. Review based on 2 visits. I wish the food here was half as good as the ambiance and waitstaff. First visit was very hit/miss. Calamari was excellent but fish & chips were pretty greasy. This last visit, red beans and rice were decent (had better) but the worst was paying $16 for elbow macaroni with runny cheese (it pooled up and which way I tilted the bowl it came in). To be fair about the price, the macaroni contained shrimp, sausage and crab. I still believed it was over priced for drippy cheese and boxed macaroni. I probably will not be back. It is crawfish season and Fish City Grill knows how to cook 'em! Went with my husband to dinner last Friday. We met at 6 and there was still a half hour wait for a table so be sure to plan ahead as they don't take reservations. We decided to grab a seat at the bar and start with a pre-dinner drink. They have a limited wine select, but have some decent choices. The beer selection is pretty good as well and they carry my husband's favorite on tap (Coop F5) so he was happy. We decided to start with a cup of soup; I ordered the roasted jalapeño soup and my husband got the crab bisque. My soup was just ok; the flavor was good, but it lacked salt. Adding some table salt helped, but there was still this sense that something was missing. My husband's crab bisque was tasty, but not the best crab bisque in town. For dinner we did the crawfish boil and it was delicious! The crawfish was seasoned well and was cooked perfectly. We added a couple of Andouille sausage links and it was some of the best I've ever had. They were spicy and full of flavor and really added a lot to the boil. The service was good and the environment really laid back. We've been here a few times now and this is one to keep on the rotation. read more

Came on a weekday evening for dinner with a group. Server was great and gave us time to thoroughly look at the menu and order. I ordered the salmon kale quinoa salad and everyone else ordered the blackened or grilled trout with two sides. I loved my salad! Everything was chopped up and salmon was grilled to perfection. Grilled trout wasn't overly seasoned and grilled well. Vegetables were slightly over cooked so It was ALMOST mushy and fried were crunchy but cold. Oyster nachos are delicious-- 6 per order. Pico on top is tasty and makes for a great presentation. Chipotle honey shrimp tacos were a plentiful portion- 3 tacos jam packed with fried glazed shrimp. The guys came in for the crawfish boil, and wee unfortunately disappointed. Tiny crawfish, one potato, one half corn Cobb, and sausage was $3 extra. Sausage was a good choice. However, this time I made the big mistake of sitting at the bar with a really rude bartender named Lance who could care less about service. I'm concerned for him if he personally thinks he can make money with his personality. It's sad! No tip today. The rest of the staff, especially David, very accommodating and polite. May have just found our new date night place. Such a pleasant environment, good atmosphere (I had worried it would be super loud but it was not) great staff... I felt comfortable being a little dressy but I would also be comfortable in jeans or brining the kiddos. Our server Ashly was sweet and the chef came out and explained the wagon wheel (ask for it!!) and we sampled all the soup and the chipotle shrimp (ooh gonna have to get tacos sometime!!) if we weren't going somewhere after I may have taken home some of the delicious jalapeño soup!! And next time I WILL be getting the chowder! Shrimp and grits were great. I almost didn't order because it had brown sugar bacon and I'm not a huge bacon fan to begin with, let alone sugared.. but it was soooo good to have that pop of sweet. Let me start by saying we've never had a bad experience here. Our visit on Mother's Day was excellent. The service was very good and the food was excellent. We ordered Shrimp and Grits and have to say it was the best Shrimp and Grits we've ever had. I would rate this slightly better than what we had in Charleston, which is known for this dish. Few places I go get a five star review but this place more than earned it. The menu is full of tasty looking entrees, what I ordered lived up to the description. The staff was incredibly helpful and nice. The place wasn't too loud so if I wanted to bring a date here I think it would be perfect. It wasn't overly crowded but that is probably more likely due to the time of day I came there, I can absolutely see this place swamped with customers during peak times. Another visit and Wow! My top shelf margarita, (though $9.50), was amazing! I started with, perfectly shucked, Blue Point Oysters on the half shell. Fresh! served with horseradish, lemon and seafood sauce. No shell bits means the liquor was perfect, cold and tasting like fresh sea water. Finally, I had a personal favorite, shrimp & grits. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned & grilled. The grits were a wonder; creamy and cheest without being gummy; seasoned with garlic and, I think, pickled red peppers in the sauce. Fabulous. read more
