Fish district is a great seafood option for food that gets done fast. This location in the Carlsbad Gateway shopping center was very clean, service was courteous, and all items tasted great. I ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy sandwich with a side of battered fries and a pint of Japanese lager. The Po' Boy was great. The shrimp was crunchy, but soft inside, and the Sriracha mayo provide just the right amount of kick. We were very pleased with our visit here are certainly will be back for more.

Update: Still good, great food! I really miss the outdoor tables, it was so nice to sit and enjoy the meal. Now there's no seating besides a bar type outdoor area, which makes it harder to come unless it's takeout since it's busy inside. I was also sad to see the lemonade go, it was a favorite and a highlight for me. Now it's just bottled drinks. Customer service could be a bit better, but the food is what makes this place amazing. Shout out to the chefs! They're the reason I'll always come back!

Great food. Fresh off the boat fish. Has wine. Indoor seating. Staff is friendly. Located in Bressi Ranch.

First time here and I enjoyed the food so much! The gentleman placing our order was polite and patient. I got the salmon and kale bowl which tasted healthy and delicious. The kale was seasoned well. If you like onions, then you will like this bowl. My husband got the combo box. It came with fries, fried fish and shrimps. He loved that it came with 3 types of sauces: cocktail, thousand island and tartar sauce. We were full and satisfied with our dinner.

We loved all the food here. Made fresh, fast and with friendly customer service. We were the only ones eating in house at the time, but this store had a steady stream of to-go orders. Decor was a soothing modern coastal, dining areas and restrooms were very clean. A spectacular sunset outside added to the ambiance. Started off with the excellent New England clam chowder ($7) that had lots of clams, medium thickness, not too salty. Next up calamari fritti ($12) which was light and crispy, not rubbery at all. My mom and sister ordered wild ahi tuna plates ($17.50) and I got the battered Alaskan cod with fries ($14.50.) Praise to the cook for making our fish exactly right! The tuna was seared & tender and my cod was hot, flaky and not greasy. One of the sides was a sesame cabbage salad that I could've eaten a bucket of, it was so delicious. Their fries had that nice extra crunch and seasoned perfectly. The young man helping us recommended the wasabi aioli dip which turned out to be my favorite. Fish District is a solid choice for high quality, non fancy seafood that won't break the bank compared to the other resturants in the Carlsbad/Oceanside area. We will be back!

It's been growing on me as a nice healthy option near Bressi Ranch. It's been around for many years and needs more recognition as a decent neighborhood eatery. I think it's not top of mind because the seating is fairly limited- I'd recommend having no more than 5 people in your party at the most. There are only about 6 tables inside and three outside. I do enjoy the flexibility to order different styles of fish. I usually get a salmon plate with a grilled filet with greens and veggies. I'd love to see them doing some kind of wine happy hour- it would be great to sit outside on the bar with a glass of wine and small bites.

Food is very good. Restaurant is clean. Came here to dine in one afternoon. The place was quite busy with lots of takeout orders. There's several tables for dining in. Ordered a clam chowder and the seared ahi bowl. The clam chowder was amazing, loaded with clams and the flavor was on point, nice broth not too salty. The bowl was good but a bit plain, would have been nice to have some additional ingredients like corn or black beans to add to the flavor. The ahi bowl just had lettuce and rice. Overall nice experience. Parking can be challenging depending on the day due to the popularity of Bressi Ranch.

Traditional style salmon, taco, and Baja style shrimp taco

Parking was easy on a Friday evening. It was after 8 pm. It wasn't busy. I ordered the traditional style salmon taco, and the Baja style shrimp taco. I didn't realize until, after ordering that the salmon was not wild caught, but it was tasty though. The shrimp didn't have much flavor, but the other items in it helped. I'll have to look further if they have other wild caught seafood since that's what I normally try to order.

Ok, if this review was just for the food it would be high, but unfortunately my experience was mixed. I have been craving fish and chips for about a week, which is rare, but I needed to get rid of the craving. We arrived at about 8 (I know they close at 8:30) and the restaurant was empty. The guy at the counter was friendly and polite. We ordered to eat in and sat down to wait. There was a lot of to go business so people were coming and going the whole time. One of the staff members was complaining to another about a previous customer and how she wanted something off menu and they were not going to give it her no matter how persistent she was. He went on about it for a while. Then they brought our food. It looked wonderful, the fish was golden, perfectly cooked on the inside and the fries were perfect. We happily dug in and it was everything I had been craving. They were apparently getting ready to close (it was 8:10) and they rolled out the mop and bucket after complaining how bad the bathroom and water in the bucket smelled. As we sat there eating I watched one staff members open a bottle of bleach and pour some into the bucket. I was a bit surprised they would do this with customers eating but I assumed they would probably roll it back into the back. They did not. Slowly the whole room started smelling stronger and stronger of bleach, to the point it made me a little nauseous and I couldn't eat any more. We emptied our trays into the trash and left. Maybe that was their goal to get us out? It was 8:24 when we got in the car so we weren't keeping them. This is likely a training issue but I think future visits will be during the day. It was really disappointing.

    Awesome fish & chips!

Ordered the Small Boston White Clam Chowder ($6.99), 3 Piece Fish & Chips with fries ($21.99), and the Sea Bass Plate ($25.99) which came with two sides - opted for Spanish rice and black beans. The clam chowder was just okay and nothing particularly special. The sea bass with garlic butter was a little bland and definitely needed some hot sauce or tartar sauce for extra flavor. The Spanish rice also tasted like it had been sitting out for a while and was a little dry. I did appreciate that the black beans came topped with some cheese and were served in a little tostada bowl - a nice touch. The fish and chips were hands down the best thing we ordered. The fish had a super crispy batter and the fries were crispy as well. Definitely the standout of the meal. Pelly's is located in a shared plaza with Ralphs, so there are plenty of parking spaces available. Both indoor and outdoor seating and it's a counter-service setup where you order at the counter and they'll bring the food out to your table.

Alone or with a group, it was a super cool place to go. IT'S NOT THE COOL PLACE IT USED TO BE I gave up a few months ago ordering the whole broiled artichoke which used to be amazing but now is always small, tough and burned. The sand dabs I ordered last night were mushy, greasy and tasteless. The Parmesan 'crust' was soggy. I had to ask the bartender 4 times for lemons (none came with the dish) because she would only give me 3 tiny slices at a time - perhaps they are being rationed due to Strait of Hormuz related supply chain issues? It's possible the complimentary sourdough bread is being rationed as well. IT'S NOT THE COOL PLACE IT USED TO BE In the past this restaurant was lively with all kinds of fun and warm interaction between staff, regular customers and tourists; now it is just hectic and loud. In the oyster bar area there are tv screens literally everywhere so the vibe is more sports bar-like than the vibe of a quality oyster bar. I no longer trust the quality of the food and I no longer enjoy the staff who's attention is vapid rather than warm and welcoming. IT'S NOT THE COOL PLACE IT USED TO BE

The food was just as impressive. We started with the Spinach & Artichoke Dip, which was the perfect appetizer. For dinner, we ordered the Center Cut Filet, Cha Cha's Spicy Rigatoni, and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and something we'd happily order again. If you're thinking about dessert, do yourself a favor and order the butter cake. It absolutely lives up to the hype. What stood out most, though, was the people. The ambiance was absolutely fantastic, delivering a polished, fine-dining experience with very reasonable pricing. The meal was overall delicious, and while there are already plenty of five-star reviews, a few specific details stood out to us: The Starters Excelled: We actually found the creative appetizers and starters to be the absolute highlight of the meal (my favorite was the oysters but everyone had their own!) , even outshining the more expensive entrees (notably the steak which was a little underwhelming, though the fish was good). The Famous Broccoli Lives Up to the Hype: Yes, the roasted broccoli was truly exceptional! Superb Drinks & Kid-Friendly Touches: The craft cocktails were delicious, and we appreciated that they are highly accommodating to families with a dedicated kids' menu.
