Update: Still good, great food! I really miss the outdoor tables, it was so nice to sit and enjoy the meal. Now there's no seating besides a bar type outdoor area, which makes it harder to come unless it's takeout since it's busy inside. I was also sad to see the lemonade go, it was a favorite and a highlight for me. Now it's just bottled drinks. Customer service could be a bit better, but the food is what makes this place amazing. Shout out to the chefs! They're the reason I'll always come back!

    SALMON & KALE bowl

First time here and I enjoyed the food so much! The gentleman placing our order was polite and patient. I got the salmon and kale bowl which tasted healthy and delicious. The kale was seasoned well. If you like onions, then you will like this bowl. My husband got the combo box. It came with fries, fried fish and shrimps. He loved that it came with 3 types of sauces: cocktail, thousand island and tartar sauce. We were full and satisfied with our dinner.

We loved all the food here. Made fresh, fast and with friendly customer service. We were the only ones eating in house at the time, but this store had a steady stream of to-go orders. Decor was a soothing modern coastal, dining areas and restrooms were very clean. A spectacular sunset outside added to the ambiance. Started off with the excellent New England clam chowder ($7) that had lots of clams, medium thickness, not too salty. Next up calamari fritti ($12) which was light and crispy, not rubbery at all. My mom and sister ordered wild ahi tuna plates ($17.50) and I got the battered Alaskan cod with fries ($14.50.) Praise to the cook for making our fish exactly right! The tuna was seared & tender and my cod was hot, flaky and not greasy. One of the sides was a sesame cabbage salad that I could've eaten a bucket of, it was so delicious. Their fries had that nice extra crunch and seasoned perfectly. The young man helping us recommended the wasabi aioli dip which turned out to be my favorite. Fish District is a solid choice for high quality, non fancy seafood that won't break the bank compared to the other resturants in the Carlsbad/Oceanside area. We will be back!

It's been growing on me as a nice healthy option near Bressi Ranch. It's been around for many years and needs more recognition as a decent neighborhood eatery. I think it's not top of mind because the seating is fairly limited- I'd recommend having no more than 5 people in your party at the most. There are only about 6 tables inside and three outside. I do enjoy the flexibility to order different styles of fish. I usually get a salmon plate with a grilled filet with greens and veggies. I'd love to see them doing some kind of wine happy hour- it would be great to sit outside on the bar with a glass of wine and small bites.

Traditional style salmon, taco, and Baja style shrimp taco

Parking was easy on a Friday evening. It was after 8 pm. It wasn't busy. I ordered the traditional style salmon taco, and the Baja style shrimp taco. I didn't realize until, after ordering that the salmon was not wild caught, but it was tasty though. The shrimp didn't have much flavor, but the other items in it helped. I'll have to look further if they have other wild caught seafood since that's what I normally try to order.

Here's part of our receipt $$$$!

Food is very good. Restaurant is clean. Came here to dine in one afternoon. The place was quite busy with lots of takeout orders. There's several tables for dining in. Ordered a clam chowder and the seared ahi bowl. The clam chowder was amazing, loaded with clams and the flavor was on point, nice broth not too salty. The bowl was good but a bit plain, would have been nice to have some additional ingredients like corn or black beans to add to the flavor. The ahi bowl just had lettuce and rice. Overall nice experience. Parking can be challenging depending on the day due to the popularity of Bressi Ranch.

    Awesome fish & chips!

Absolutely the best fish and chips we've ever had! The batter was perfectly crisp, the fish flaky and flavorful. The mango shrimp tacos were scrumptious--plump, juicy, and bursting with fresh flavor. On top of the amazing food, the service was so friendly and kind, which made the whole experience even better. We loved it so much and can't wait to come back!

Ok, if this review was just for the food it would be high, but unfortunately my experience was mixed. I have been craving fish and chips for about a week, which is rare, but I needed to get rid of the craving. We arrived at about 8 (I know they close at 8:30) and the restaurant was empty. The guy at the counter was friendly and polite. We ordered to eat in and sat down to wait. There was a lot of to go business so people were coming and going the whole time. One of the staff members was complaining to another about a previous customer and how she wanted something off menu and they were not going to give it her no matter how persistent she was. He went on about it for a while. Then they brought our food. It looked wonderful, the fish was golden, perfectly cooked on the inside and the fries were perfect. We happily dug in and it was everything I had been craving. They were apparently getting ready to close (it was 8:10) and they rolled out the mop and bucket after complaining how bad the bathroom and water in the bucket smelled. As we sat there eating I watched one staff members open a bottle of bleach and pour some into the bucket. I was a bit surprised they would do this with customers eating but I assumed they would probably roll it back into the back. They did not. Slowly the whole room started smelling stronger and stronger of bleach, to the point it made me a little nauseous and I couldn't eat any more. We emptied our trays into the trash and left. Maybe that was their goal to get us out? It was 8:24 when we got in the car so we weren't keeping them. This is likely a training issue but I think future visits will be during the day. It was really disappointing.

This is a chain store. There seem to be three of them in SD. I went to the one in Carlsbad. It was recommended by a friend. You can scan the code to order directly. No tip is required. My friend always orders salmon + salad every time. It's very fresh, healthy and delicious. I ordered a poke bowl and a taco. The poke bowl was great, very filling. The taco was a bit ordinary and not recommended to order.

Looks like 2 mozzarella sticks and a piece of fish

I have been eating here for years. Never had an issue until last night. 3 piece fish and chips had the smallest pieces of fish I've ever seen. They are usually twice the size I received last night

After a long day at Legoland, we were ready for dinner. We decided on seafood and found this place nearby. I didn't get a chance to look at the menu before we left our hotel room, only my husband did haha. When we arrived, the restaurant was located in a shopping plaza directly in front of Stater Bros. There was plenty of parking. The restaurant was quiet, not too busy. When you walk in, you must place your order at the counter first and then sit down. We ordered the shrimp basket, shrimp po boy, poke and chips and a kids chicken tender plate. All were delicious. We will keep this place whenever we're back in Carlsbad.

Crispy rice poke. Must try! So good.
    Yaejin R.

Great casual spot for some quick food! We ordered the Chowder Fries and Crispy Rice Poke and they were both great. There was plenty of parking. The two girls working here were so pleasant and friendly. They offered to make any suggestions on the menu and throughout our dining experience, they were just having a blast working which gave off such positive energy.

Have to say, he wasn't wrong. These were some of the best fish and chips I've ever had and the quantity was huge. It was $28 for the combo with shrimp and worth every bit. Somehow these were so crisp and flaky, but not oily at all. The tartar was the perfect accompaniment, I just wish they gave more. Even the fries were so good, battered for crispness but not too thick, and the middle part was smooth like mashed potatoes, they were addicting. Ate way too many! My wife really enjoyed her grilled mahi plate too and was so happy they served rice, us Asians have to have our rice lol. The medium chowder was huge, even for 2. Curiously it was under seasoned, almost no salt at all. Maybe deliberate for older clientele? But a little salt and Tabasco fixed it right up. Tons of clams which is the important part, and great flavor once seasoned. This is another true 5 star spot and must visit any time fish and chip lovers are in the area.

Don't buy gift cards…read more equest for Review of Customer Service Experience at King's Fish House Carlsbad Dear Corporate Management, I am writing regarding a disappointing experience at the Carlsbad King's Fish House location and the handling of a gift card issue that I attempted to resolve before my visit. Prior to dining at the restaurant, I contacted your corporate office seeking assistance with a gift card problem. I was assisted by an employee (Erna Moyers) whose email signature identified her as the receptionist. I also called and asked to speak with a manager and Erna refused to transfer me to a manager. She informed me that she had spoken with the restaurant manager and assured me that everything was in order and that there would be no issues when I arrived for dinner. Unfortunately, when it came time to pay, that was not the case. Despite my efforts to address the issue in advance, the gift card problem had not been resolved. What should have been a simple transaction became an uncomfortable and embarrassing ordeal in front of my guest. Most concerning was that the manager took my phone and searched through my emails in an attempt to locate information related to the gift card. While I gave permission because I was trying to resolve the situation, it felt highly inappropriate and should never have been necessary. Had the issue been properly handled before my visit, none of this would have occurred. I am also frustrated that when I previously requested to speak directly with a manager, I was not given that opportunity. Instead, I was told the matter had been addressed, which proved to be inaccurate. I have enjoyed King's Fish House in the past, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I would appreciate hearing from someone in management who has the authority to review what occurred and explain how this situation was allowed to happen after I had made a good-faith effort to resolve it beforehand. Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.

The food came quickly, so there was no issue. I got a bivuoac berry cider which was delicious and very drinkable. I opted for some clam chowder, rocket salad, and the seafood curry as well. The clam chowder was delicious and creamy. Not TOO rich and not too salty. The rocket salad was pretty standard. I don't order any fish with it since I was ordering so many items already and I didn't want to be too full! Just wanted to add some veggies to my meal. The seafood curry had some great flavor. I was a bit surprised that the curry was more of a soup consistency. I was expecting a thicker and more saucy consistency but it was still good. I think it could've been a bit more flavorful.
