First off, the friendly confident customer service from Snaho really made me and my sister feel welcome. She knew what she had to offer and answered all our questions about the menu and specials! We came here in time for happy hour and I got the ahi poke nachos...best. Nachos. Ever. Crisp, corn tortilla chips with great quality ahi poke and perfect amount of sauce, sides etc etc I could go on forever and ever. My sister got the fish house salad and we both finished everything (no leftovers everything was to die for!) The hot chai drink is also made homemade from spices in an authentic Indian style. They offer dairy free options as well such as soy and almond milk, even stevia as a sugar alternative! My sister got another order after being the chicken nachos with black beans. I've got to say Snaho knows what she's doing. The salsa, beans, meat, cheese (she even has dairy free options for cheese as well!! Vegan if you may) is absolutely perfect. Every dish is very well thought out and complements one another. It has a really cozy atmosphere here and the outside seating is wonderful. my only suggestion is don't buy the largest clam chowder, and eat that by itself, Santiago Canyon is a long road! As mentioned, the service was nice, but I do have to give some constructive criticism, the oyster crackers, for the clam chowder were a bit stale. I told that to the chef, he could've given me a piece of bread, and that would've helped me during my drive. But a piece of toast is not suggested in lieu of crackers. This place was interesting, seems like it's a combination fish house and Indian restaurant, but I went all seafood for this visit. I ordered the clam chowder, popcorn shrimp, crab cake, and salmon plate. The chowder was good, I don't know if it was made in house or not, the popcorn shrimp was really good, the shrimp was fresh so that was a plus. The crab cake was just ok I've had better but I could tell it was made in house because the green and red peppers that was mixed in looked fresh and it was nice that they used real crab meat. It is in a plaza with cars going in and out. We tried the fish and chips and the grilled salmon wrap and the food was great for a good quick lunch bite. You can order at the counter or at the table when the staff stops by the table to take your order. The price point for lunch is on the higher side compared to normal prices at other places for the food quality and amount. The Golden Fries were good and try the Fish House Corn at least once to see if you like the flavor. I was informed that it was cooked in coconut milk. The staff was nice and friendly! Came to this place and they sat me down right away the people were nice and friendly, no complaints there. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the service. The rice tasted old and hard, the ahi poke and sea bass tacos didn't taste fresh at all, and even the fried clam strips were off like, how do you mess up fried clam strips? Everything looked good on the menu but totally missed the mark on freshness and flavor. Then came the price nearly $30 a plate. I was honestly shocked. I come to a restaurant to get good food, not disappointment. For this quality, I could've stayed home and had my wife cook me a bad meal at least then I wouldn't have paid thirty bucks for it. To top it off, I asked for a Pellegrino it was great then asked for another, and they brought me a Perrier. Close enough, I guess. I was really hoping it would be good because the staff was kind and attentive, but sadly, I will not be returning even if they improved. For what I paid here, I could've gone to Panini Kabob Grill, had better food at half the price, and honestly, Panini Kabob even makes a better fish. Skip this place! Food is only OK. Prices are ridiculous. I ordered the catfish From the Fryer, the grilled catfish from the Specialty Plates, and an extra piece of a la carte catfish. Per the menu, the catfish From the Fryer came with 2 pieces of catfish, fries, coleslaw and stale garlic toast. For the same price, the grilled catfish from the Specialty Plate came with only 1 - yes 1 - piece of catfish, coleslaw, rice, and stale garlic toast. The a la carte order came with one more piece of grilled catfish and no sides. It cost as much as the other complete meals - for a single piece of grilled fish and no sides. (So we had 4 pieces of catfish, 2 coleslaws, fries, rice, and 2 pieces of stale garlic toast. The total for that was more than $56! And then there is an "additional" charge on the receipt for $2.28. Additional for what?? After tax (before tip), the total for two mediocre catfish dinners was almost $64! I know food is more expensive than it used to be, but that's insane.
