This place is great for Sunday brunch. We got there towards the end of brunch so it wasn't too crowded. The food was great! They have a variety of locally brewed beers. We eat lunch with friends at fish bar quite often. We always have a great time. The servers are wonderful and the food is always good. At lunch they have a really resonable special combo. You get their wonderful clam chowder with a choice of entree and salad. All are very good. salmon is perfect, the shrimp is great and the Caesar, wedge and the house salads are all terrific. The food was absolutely all around amazing. Some of the best clam chowder I have ever tasted. My fish was perfect and so was my wife's. The place is a far cry from Sharkee's - totally cleaned up and nicely decorated but still has a So Cal beach vibe - and still the most expensive thing on the menu was around $14. A note to the owners. Service was friendly but slow. I ordered my second glass of wine before my entree arrived and did not get it until I had two bites left. Even the laid back would be unhappy about having no wine with their fish. The table next to us had to ask for their drinks a second time as well. One other thing. Some of the patrons seemed to think it's laid back enough to let their kids run around like it was a Chuck E Cheese. This place is way too good for that. I would nip it in the bud. You're better off drawing an adult crowd now that you've scrubbed the cheap beer and sweat out of the place. I would tell everyone I know to go and will be back soon. read more

We've been twice - it was packed both times. The first time gets 5 stars for amazing clam chowder, delicious and inexpensive lobster tacos, really great service and a nice stiff drink! This last time was not quite as great - the chowder was a bit off , my husband ordered a lobster and was kind of dissapointed, my scampi was pretty decent, the service was just OK, the hostess was kind of rude too. Probably just a bad night though, and we will definitely go back it's a really great place - fun, good food and very good value. Just park in the covered metered lot across the street and walk instead of hunting for street parking. We went for recently advertised happy hour which included $5 Absolut cocktails. Too many menus. Happy Hour menu , Monday Specials menu, Regular menu, etc. Apps ordered were good, nothing to rave about, the 4 of us have had better. Couple of us ordered Absolut martinis. And seconds. Drinks not bad. When bill came, there was a $2/drink surcharge on the martinis. When we questioned Jeremy, our waiter, he said the surcharge was because there was more vodka in the martini. We said, BS, menu didn't say this, martinis are a cocktail, you didn't tell us, this is BS, etc. We were actually polite because he was a good waiter. End of story, he comped us one drink. Not the right answer. Not a repeat. This place doesn't have its act together. It's won't get local repeat business (that would be us!). read more

I was so happy to find FishBar last week. I was craving Halibut and did a google map search for Fish Restaurants within a reasonable proximity to my office. I'm so glad FishBar came up. The worn beachy exterior had me expecting picnic tables inside and I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful but still comfortably casual interior. They did not have Halibut on the menu the day I went, so I ordered a salted salmon that was delicious. My waitress had the perfect balance of being there when I needed her and leaving me alone when I was enjoying my lunch and reading. The bus boys never left me with an empty iced tea glass. My family ate at this restaurant on New Year's Eve. It was the first time we ate there. The clam chowder was excellent. The lobster tacos were a disappointment and I sent them back. The Fishbar is my favorite restaurant in Manhattan Beach. I give it 5 stars on both the food and the ambiance. It's a great place to watch the game. I would recommend going at night, however the wait can be up to an hour...so get there early on the weekends. My favorite dishes are the buffalo shrimp and the shrimp skewers which are laced with bacon. I also love the raw oysters. You can't go wrong with any dish.... read more

One star for the food and one for the beer, both are slow, over priced and served warm. What happened to the Fish Bar? This used to be a great place to have a great meal watch a game and hang out for a few drinks with friends. The new Fish Bar has bland flavorless appetizers, followed up by over cooked meals created with poor quality meats served on filthy flatware that still has chunks of the meal the previous customer couldn't stomach. Thank god for the warm beer in the dirty glass served within twenty minutes or less guaranteed. The server was very nice and apologized for each item of disgust, so much so that I felt more sorry for her than us. She said that the busboys wash the silver and frequently just squirt them with water and wrap them back in the napkin ready to place on the table (really gross to think about). The Fish Bar is now synonymous Dive Bar. I wouldn't go there for any reason other than people watching. Mostly watching for when they realize they just ate something they didn't order, something ordered by the person before them. Oh, I should add, limited parking, dirty seating area, rundown look/feel and unhappy employees due to poor management. OK that's enough, I'll be nice now... The cool ocean air when I exited the Fish Bar reminded me that there are good restaurants just down the street and all I had to do was walk away, so I did and that was nice. read more

I will keep this short, never order steak at a fish house never order fish at steak house and NEVER ORDER MEXICAN FOOD AT THE FISH BAR. I do not even know where to begin. We had quesadillas which were lacking but I was dumb enough to try the lobster enchiladas, which were not really enchiladas, no cheese dipped in you guessed it the same sweet chipotle sauce which was not good on the quesadillas. I can safely say that my date had fish and chips... which were good. Oh did I mention that my meal .... of course came and it was cold in the center. Service was OK... but we kinda disappeared towards the end... had to wait for a check a long while and were not offered desert. .... LOL ! But that was ok. Not going back... for dinner. read more

Came here for a late lunch, and everything was excellent. Menu had a lot of options (mostly seafood) but you had the option to substitute fish for chicken, etc. in some of the wraps and salads! They have a really excellent deal for a soup, salad, and grilled entree for only $9.99 that my dad really enjoyed. My chipotle shrimp wrap was delicious and the Lobster Roll even pleased my mother's atlantic lobster accustomed taste buds. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is very comfortable. It is not much to look at out front. I assumed it was a dive bar that replaced sharky's. But I was wrong. I finally went in and it was very nice inside, and the food and atmosphere are great! I have been wanting to try this place as I heard great reviews and was disappointed. On the positive side I will say the staff was all very nice but too many negatives. 1. The table, I am 5'4" and small and could barely get in the table as they had the leaf folded under and there was no clearance for my leg to slide in and then the table stand was so big I was not able to put my feet on the ground. A tall person would have been miserable 2. We ordered to Scallops Rockefeller - Advertised as Applewood bacon on it but pretty sure it was bacon bits same in the wedge salad 3. We were not done with our apps and our entrees came and they just piled them all on the table. 4. I had the sauteed spinach side and it was just lukewarm wet spinach, no flavor and Brussels sprouts were drowned in dressing. 5. Our meals, though they came out early, were lukewarm, so guessing the fish was pre-cooked and then they threw the stuff on. 6. Waitress walked by a bunch of times but water wasn't refilled until we flagged her down I understand this is a lower price point restaurant so not expecting the same as others but we both felt Red Lobster would have been better. Really confused on all the hype. If you want a meal of fish versus typical bar food while watching sports I can maybe see the appeal. We won't be going here again. read more

I used to drop by Sharkeys before it became Fish Bar. Fish Bar is a step up. The decor and design is very nice. Tons of TV's and small tables, tables with high backs and booths in the corner, something for everybody. MY problem was the bartender's rude and snooty attitude. Not sure why this guy is working here. I ordered the Fish Tacos and a Beer. Both were good. Had to ask for the bread? Hello Bartender? Water? Hello Dude? The place was pretty empty so this kind of service is just lazy. I like this place a lot but that bartender still bugs me. Maybe he just broke up with his girlfriend? This place was a mixed bag. First, the good: The food was great overall. The crabcakes were delicious. I ordered the Mac N Cheese with crab (which also has truffle oil). The busboy accidentally brought us the Lobster Mac N Cheese, and hubby and I ate it. Then the busboy came back with the correct order and apologized profusely. It kind of worked out anyways - we actually preferred the Lobster Mac N Cheese to the Crab one. The lobster one was creamier and cheesier, whereas the crab one was oilier. The only food item that was kind of meh was the Fish and Chips that hubby ordered. We got it with salmon, and it just kind of had no real taste, even when dipped in their tartar sauce. We had the cinnamon roll with the cinnamon crunch ice cream on top. It was delicious! There are plenty of things on the menu I'd love to try, so I would definitely have planned to go back if it weren't for the service. First, I called before going in and asked about the wait. I was told it was 10 minutes. We got there 15 minutes later and was told the wait was 20 minutes. Fine, no problem - we walked around and enjoyed the sunset. 30 minutes later I asked how long it would be and was told that there were still 5 parties ahead of us, but that we would be seated in 5-10 minutes. I didn't see how that was going to happen, but whatever. About 25 minutes after that we were seated. I don't mind waiting for a table at all - but please, have experience hostesses that can give accurate wait times! Anyways, we got a table and ordered. Our waitress, Morgan, was terrible. We had to flag her down every time we needed something - ketchup, an extra napkin, the dessert menu, etc. She never came and asked if we needed anything. Thank goodness for our busboy - he was great and really tried to fill in the gaps. I totally get that the restaurant was busy and we are not difficult customers at all - but when we are paying good money for the food, we expect decent service. The food deserves 4 stars. The service deserves 1 star. I give it 2 stars overall. I will return one day just to see if maybe we caught this place on a bad night. read more

Came here for Happy Hour, for $6 you could get wings as opposed to on the menu $11 for 1 lb. We got 6 wings. So we basically got half the food but not half the price. Same thing with the other items. This isn't happy hour it's sad half hour. read more
