First, let's talk about the location. It's in Rancho Cucamonga, which is a huge plus since it's close to home. Hopefully it sticks around for a while because it's a nice addition to the area. Ordering was a little confusing. There are two different apps, and one was taking orders for the next day while the other only showed late-night availability. Neither really helped, so I decided to just head over in person. The restaurant itself is a small hole-in-the-wall spot with very limited seating, so don't expect to dine in comfortably while you wait. The music gave the place a nice soulful vibe, and I liked seeing the fresh fish on display before it's prepared. Customer service was average. Nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. I was told my order would take about 30 minutes, so I walked over to the mall across the street to pass the time. I even gave them an extra 15 minutes just to be safe. Unfortunately, my food still wasn't ready. In total, I waited about an hour before getting my order. The good news? The food was worth it. I ordered the fried catfish, fried red snapper, fries, greens, and red beans and rice. The catfish was perfectly cooked, the fries were outstanding, and the greens were flavorful. The red snapper was a little overcooked, and the red beans and rice had a bit too much seasoning for my taste, but overall everything was fresh and delicious. If you don't mind waiting, this is definitely a solid seafood spot. I'll be back, but next time I'll make sure I plan for the longer wait. Save your money and your time. We paid $70+ for our food and waited 1 hour and 9 minutes for our order. To make matters worse, it was sooooo hot inside that I literally sweated my hair out. 5-6 tables and over an hour wait time-never again! One girl working the front was new, so I understand she was learning, but the other employee with the light brown hair had the worst attitude. After I requested a refund, the girl came back and said the manager told her that the girl at the front should have told us it was going to be an hour wait because it was Sunday. I told her, "She didn't tell us that when we ordered." She responded, "I know she didn't." So I'm confused... if you knew we weren't told there was going to be an hour wait, why wasn't the situation handled differently? The people sitting next to us told us they were also told it would be a 30-minute wait, and even their food was taking longer than that. Because of the excessive wait, they called the manager. The manager said she could give me half of my money back. I explained that at that point, I didn't want the food at all. We had already waited over an hour, and I was completely over it. She continued to say they would refund half and that if I didn't want the food, I could leave it there and they would give it away. I asked to speak directly with the manager, but instead, they referred me to the phone number on a poster. An hour and 9 minutes. $70+. No communication about the actual wait time. Poor customer service. And then I'm offered half a refund for food I no longer wanted. Save yourself the frustration. I would not recommend coming here. As far as the response from owner: I asked for a full refund without the food and was told the best is I would get half my refund, NO I was NOT given the option for a full refund without food. I did not want the food anymore due to poor customer service and gruesome heat in the restaurant. I was also told if i didn't take the food and half refund , you guys would give the food to someone else. SMH I am telling my friends, family, and social media the way I was handled here. This place has delicious and fresh seafood! Came here during a work lunch since we were around the area and was pleasantly surprised. The portions are nice and the fish is fried in a way where it's not too greasy. Their hush puppies are also amazing! I wish I lived closer as I would love to be able to eat here more frequently. Not even a fillet, more like a catfish tender. The coleslaw had no flavor. Red beans & rice dry. Greens tasted like they were from a can. Hush puppies were the best part of the meal but dry. I threw everything away! Shrimp was rubbery and dry. I had high hopes for this place. I went to try this place after seeing an Instagram video about it. I haven't found a really good fried fish spot in the IE, but I give this place my stamp of approval. I ended up getting a special, so I could try a little of everything I had a taste for. Overall, the food is good and was cooked/seasoned perfectly. I give this review 4/5 starts simply because my food wasn't hot when I got it home. The ride was about 8 minutes from the restaurant, and considering how long we waited for the food, I expected it to be as fresh as possible. My sister said her food was still hot when we got home. I rate my plate (2 fish, 3 shrimp, 3 oysters, red beans/rice, dinner roll--see photos) an 8/10 because it wasn't hot. My sister tried grilled red snapper with grilled veggies and white rice. She rates her plate a 7/10 because she was choking on bones in the fish, and her dish (not pictured) was a bit on the salty side. We attempted placing the order online for pickup to avoid having to wait inside the restaurant to order, but the site wouldn't allow us to order. I'm not sure if the business stopped online ordering because of how busy they were or what. If you run into the same issue, I suggest maybe calling to place the order beforehand. My sister and I waited in line for maybe 15 minutes to place the order and waited another 35ish minutes for the food to come out. We were well aware that the food would take that long because the cashier let us know before we placed the order. Communication and customer service is A1. I'd definitely go back to try other things on the menu. Pricing is reasonable, too. They play good music, so waiting in line wasn't too bad. The flavor of the food was nice, my snapper was fried to hard, but my main issue was that it took 45 minutes to get my small dinner and it wasn't crowded the excuse was "oh my god we lost your receipt and didn't know who the plate was for" some bs excuse, which I would have been ok, if they would have compensated me for my inconvenience and their incompetence! One comment to the owner to consider, the ordering required the staff to type everything in, rather than have easy codes, digital pics, or something to make that part of the ordering process a little faster. FOOD: Of the items that I tried, I thought the standouts were the grilled Mahi-mahi, Fried Shrimp, Fried Catfish, Mac-n-Cheese, Collard Greens, Hush Puppies, Banana Pudding, and Apple Cobbler. I grew up on the East Coast and these were some of the best Hush Puppies I've ever had! Got the mani-mahi & red snapper grilled, Dover sole fried, sides of collard greens & yams. Man oh man was I in for a treat! My group ordered so many other things on the menu & we each tried each other's food. Hush puppies, shrimp, rolls, mac n cheese, potato salad... corn bread!!! Desserts? One of the better Southern seafood joints in the area. The fried red snapper? Amazing. The fried catfish? Just as amazing. The yummy (and large) tubs of red beans & rice and mac & cheese? So amazing I couldn't even stand it. But I think the real star of the entrees was that grilled mahi-mahi. That was like somebody planted heaven on my tongue directly and told me to just let it grow. That was one of the most tender, flavorful, and just seasoned right fishes I've had in a few years. I was kicking myself that I didn't order more of it. And to cap it off was a generous portion of banana pudding that was a great end to the meal.
