My friend received a gift card for this place and boy are we glad she did. We made an early reservation for 5:45pm. This was a great time to go on a Wednesday. It wasn't busy which is great since it is a small venue. We each got a cocktail...Golden Hour and La Catrina. Then we shared the blue crab cake appetizer, Koshihikari Rice, and key lime pie. It was the perfect amount of food and all was flavorful and delicious. I would love to come back for their oyster bar for lunch some time. Our server was also great and since it was our first time, he was able to give us recommendations. As we were leaving, it was starting to get busy. Oh, and you can see the ocean from various seats around the restaurant!

I normally only go to restaurants once unless it's an all-time favorite, but Fishing with Dynamite definitely deserves that status. Came here with a last-minute reservation on a Monday night and every single dish was perfect.

Excellent seafood restaurant in Manhattan Beach. Great raw bar and creative menu, complemented by outstanding service. Our server gave great advice on the oyster selection and then guided us through the menu. It's small inside, but busy and they clearly turn over tables quickly and keep their kitchen busy all day. The Koshikihari rice was a highlight - an umami-rich risotto-style dish, as was the crab cake. Very highly recommended.

The food here is top notch. Make reservations ahead of time as they do get busy. This establishment doesn't have much seating but the servers have everything down to get you in and out as quick as possible while enjoying your time. Our server was the perfect match for our date, personal and patient. Everything was amazing and would definitely come back. The Key Lime pie is the best part, not too tart or sweet. Enough for at least 2 people.

Delicious! I came here with a friend and we shared the Peruvian scallops to start. The scallops were FIRE. Just imagine the sweetest, freshest scallops, perfectly marinated in a tart and briny way. I definitely could've had a dozen of these! For my entrée I got the Koshihikari rice with uni and egg. I would say it is pretty good, definitely heartier than a porridge. It had a nice flavor of seafood but I think the addition of something bright or crunchy would've been nice to break up the heaviness of the dish. The salinity from the Uni was lovely though. Overall, this place is really cute and the service was on point. I would definitely return again to try other things on the menu!

Love love loved my experience here. It's a delicious oyster spot right by the water that has seasonal and rotational oysters. We got 3 different types of oysters, but our favorite was the Love Shuck. They had live Uni that day, which was ok... I'm spoiled from having gone to school at UCSB and having fresh Uni pretty much on deck. We got Crab Cakes, Koshihikari Rice (which is similar to a risotto), and the Grilled Hamachi Collar which was a seasonal special and so good... The food was amazing, and the price was appropriate for what we ordered (we had 3 people with all the food and drinks and it was around $330 give or take). I thought the staff were super attentive and friendly, the location was superb, and the food was amazing.

Food & service 10/10 !! I love to get the scallops . Iv never had anything like that before, the flavor is amazingly balanced and fresh . Mussels are freshest + plumpest mussels Iv ever had with a beautiful warm bread that comes in the side . They have a full bar so if you're wanting wine or a nice tequila etc they have it all. Love to go walking nearby amazing location in beautiful manhattan.

Koshihikari Rice - Trust me, this is the dish to order!!!

I went back for my third visit in as many years and once again I was blown away. The restaurant is tiny so we had a counter seat that was right by the kitchen and the bathroom, but it was fine. We were just happy we got in. We had a few fresh oysters and great drinks before our entrees. My husband had the seared scallops which were perfectly made and plated. I ordered the Koshihikari Rice and loved it as much as I did 3 years ago when I had it. Seriously, I don't know that I will ever not order this dish. It's got a unique flavor to it I have never had anywhere else. We will definitely be back!

The food, incredible! Uni available on weekends, it was incredible. Terrific oyster selection, also had raw scallops available, all were delicious. The fish sandwich was delicious with a homemade gribiche (a tartar sauce upgrade). The rice dish was otherworldly, creamy like a risotto with crab, shrimp, etc. the desserts were delicious, too. It's a small friendly venue with outdoor seating, a good bar selection and super friendly service. Will go again when back in Manhattan Beach.

Can't believe it took me so long to actually try Fishing with Dynamite. The restaurant is pretty small so weekend reservations can go quickly. The service is excellent and the seafood is super fresh. It's a bit on the pricy side but worth it for a great meal. Located in the heart of downtown Manhattan beach. Street parking is easy to find. Would highly recommend for a date night.

We got a ton of stuff here and everything was fabulous. Started with some oysters, a salad, and bread rolls. The rolls were warm and buttery. The oysters were fresh but quite small for the price (we wanted them to be small though). For entrees, I had the most amazing fish sandwich and my cousin and aunt split the crab pasta and the rice dish. The crab pasta had a wonderful meaty flavor that almost reminded us of bolognese. I was sad that I was almost too full to eat more of it. The fries with the fish sandwich were thin and crispy and salty- my favorite type of fry. The sandwich itself was juicy and flavorful, and it had the most amazing sauce on it. We were sadly too full for dessert but I'm sure it would've been great. We were helped by a waitress who gave us some food recommendations and was attentive. Cute location and interior by the water in MB.

Great vibe, incredible wine (the orange wine was BOMB), delicious food, and top-tier service. I made a reservation weeks in advance without realizing how small and popular this place has just a handful of indoor seats and a few tables outside. Every bite was incredible. We ordered the hamachi and I definitely should've asked for a side of chips to scoop up the extra avocado and sauce left on the plate. Everything was fantastic and perfect for sharing.

    Robert C.

I call this a slice of New England in the South Bay. I should focus on the slice in the sense that the place isn't large so be sure to make a reservation. It's popular. Just a heads up. The interior has a cool nautical vibe that makes you feel like you're living that sailboat life. The oysters were perfection along with the delicious lobster rolls. I'd do it no other way.

Are there vegan options? If so, what?

    How's the parking?

Street parking and some garages but depending on the time of day street parking is hard to come by.

    Is there a kid's menu?

No, not that I know of. I was there in July. I've been there often and they've never had a kid's menu. The place and tables small, not particularly child friendly regarding space.

Is it good for groups/large parties?

Not really. We are a family of 4 and we were very cozy in there

I see outdoor seating but is it dog friendly?

    Yes

    Where to park?

There is a public parking lot less than half a block up manhattan Blvd.

My nephew had the teriyaki chicken, unfortunately the first chicken he got was undercooked and he didn't want to get sick, general manager Nick came over and was amazing to him! He made sure it came out hot and fresh and cooked better. Just for reference , it wasn't severely undercooked but he didn't wanna take any chances. The shrimp grilled in the shell is lackluster because the shrimp often sticks into the shell and dry out, harder to eat and less delicious, in my opinion. Look I would've given this place 3 stars, but the customer service and wait time was ridiculous. Hear me out, this is my experience from last Saturday. So first it can be challenging to find this place, since the pier has so many level to it. Look for the elevators. When you get there, for the first time, you see a main line, well for what? Then you see other lines, well for what? Then you see an oyster line, oh. In order to determine what each line is for, you have to do independent research. From whom? Well the employee, who do not show case any form of customer service. There were so many people lost and confused. To break it down, each "Order Here" has their own area of what can be ordered by the pound and/or cooked. So not all lines are equal. There is a crab line, seafood boil/pre-seasoned seafood, oyster, clams, I think I saw fish and fried platters, which was the longest. So after much deliberation, an employee managed to wrangle the customers to form a line. Although his mannerism seems like I'm just done with this place. One might consider ropes to further avoid these mundane confusions... I got Ana's seafood boil mix, $99. It came with a lobster, dungeoness crab, peeled shrimp, clams, sausage and potatoes. The employee told me about 10 mins. I'm like okaaaay, only 10? I walked to their souvenir shop, nothing crazy or must haves. Just cheap Chinese things with their name printed on. I return in 10 minutes. The guy doing prepping/expediting the pick order was in a frantic state. Older white male, white mustache. He was running around, mixing orders up, couldn't even tell what customers had what. The employee that wrangling folks came to help him collect himself. So 10 minutes wait turns to 15, 20, then 30 minutes. I had 2 other employees check up on my order, they said it's not ready. Okay. Finally about 35 minutes it's ready. He didn't even call out my order, I had to wave my ticket. The first rule of speed of service, never over sell the time. If it's gonnabe 30 mins plus, say 40 mins, gimme a bs reason, short handed, etc, I don't care! But why would you tell me it'll be 10 mins?! So finally got the food. Flavor was pretty good. Lobster, was okay. I wished the shrimp had the head on. Clams were big. Sausage was good. Potato seemed like the diced ones from a can, they were so small. The crab, however, is the driest. Yep, for a place that exclaims "Quality Seafood," it was kind've of a let down. They taste like the bottom batch of the crab at Las Vegas buffet. You know the batch that sits on the bottom, they don't ever rotate because the employees don't care. So it's just marinating in its own dry filth. The crab was so dry I could put that in an Advil bottle instead of cotton. So now if you ask me, would I come back? Maybe, just maybe. Anytime soon? Nah, not right now. Also with the mention of a tourist trap, it's no different than Seattle's Pike Place and surroundings.

When we arrived at our table, they had a card signed by staff congratulating us, and it was a night to remember. Great food, great service, and the warm hand towels after my dad demolished the baby back ribs were the cherry on top! Our group also ordered the chilean sea bass, salmon, and bistro plate. 10/10. One of our final meals as a family of two was Valentine's Day 2026. It was our first time being seated indoors, and the ambiance was dim and romantic. The meatloaf special was fantastic! Fast forward to June 2026, and we brought our 3-month-old son to his first NIck's meal (unfortunately, he could not partake) and to celebrate my husband's first Father's Day. My bf doesn't even like espresso martinis and he enjoyed it. Service was great! Ambiance was very nice with beautiful plants and aesthetic. It's also on the Michelin list , which I can see why.

It's been awhile since I've been here so I thought I'd update my review. Since my review 13 years…read moreago the space has been remodeled, updated and are bigger (there's more space). The food is solid. It's as tasty and well put together as I remember it to be. We started with the bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits. I think these have been here since day one. They're FULL of lovely smoky bacon pieces and are at least 4" round! It's a pretty hearty appetizer. We quickly moved on to dinner, here's what the table ordered: Lobster & Sweet Corn Risotto - the risotto was cooked perfectly. Be sure to mix that poblano pepper butter in the middle up, it adds a great smoky chili flavor to each bite. My oinly complaint about this dish is that they used claw meat. I'm just not a fan of lobster claw, it's too gelatinously rubbery for me. Skirt Steak - Oooo, this was medium rare to perfection. The smoked paprika chimichurri gave a burst of flavor and a mild heat at the back of my throat. Chilean Sea Bass - Chilean sea bass always cuts like buttah! 2 people ordered this at our table and I'm pretty sure they loved it, that side of the table was pretty silent for 15 - 20 mins. Pork Porterhouse - This dish had the most flavor. The spaetzle was cooked and browned on the griddle, it had a fantastic crispy crust. It was a little on the salty side BUT I think 's because it needed more carbs to tame the salt. For me, it would have been PERFECT with a little rice or mashed potatoes or creamed sunchokes. Parking still sucks in MB but right behind the restaurant is a parking garage that's free after 6 pm.
