The guys who helped me were very efficient and pleasant to work with but the suit was poorly made. Amongst other issues, amazingly, the sleeves were sewn in backwards on the first garment send from their Asian factory and the many attempts to repair all of the fit issues were time consuming and only partially successful. The pockets are still too deep, the pant legs ride up way to high when I sit down (lots of shin showing) and though I was told at the time of purchase that they offered "life time alterations" I was told today that what they meant was that they "only" charge what the tailor charges them for any work they do. I never should have accepted the suit - my bad! I cannot recommend this company. read more

First, what is Fit Wel and how does it work? Fit Wel is a little hole in the wall on Wilshire. They measure you onsite for your suit/shirt. You pick the fabrics, style (collar, cuffs, pleats, vents, etc). Then they send the order off to China for manufacture. The order will return in a month, and they will make any final minor alterations that may be needed there on site in about a weeks time. My person opinion is that they are great, and I've been going to them for probably 10-12 years. Let's talk about their service: Mr. Vasu in particular is great. He captures all of the fine details of your measurements and posture, he knows the fabrics backward and forward, and he gives useful advice on picking styles. Everyone else is also very attentive, and when you call for status updates, they are always very friendly and helpful. In terms of product, it is also very good. On the low end, the suits range from $400 to $600 for the cheaper fabrics, and I forget what the shirts cost, but I want to say about $80. I'd say that while the low cost material is not fantastic, it's still on par with comparably priced suits/shirts from a place like Macys or Nordstrom, but with the added benefit of being custom fit and, in most cases, better constructed. Because on the low end, it's only the material that is cheaper. The FitWel shirts/suits are still made the same way as the more expensive ones. I typically buy the med/high suits and shirts that cost about $1,100-$1,200 for the suits and $100-$120 for the shirts. These are made using very nice materials like Dormeuil, Zegna, Loro Piana, and Vitale Barberis Canonico. Dollar for dollar, these are definitely nicer than comparably priced suits from the department stores. In terms of suit construction, the Fit Wel suits still have a well constructed interior canvas that 1) gives the suit a more substantial feel than the department store ones and 2) allows it to hang more nicely without interior bunching or movement. Also the trousers have a nice 3/4 lining, a reinforced waist with a no slip interior (to keep your pants from slowly falling), and nice pockets that even have an interior cell phone sleeve. As for shirts, you can really only compare stitch quality; which is fine. The area that you can't compare, and where Fit Wel wins hands down, is in the customization. Buttons, collar style, cuffs, placard, darts, etc.the shirt is entirely your own. As a point of comparison, I recently bought two suits from SuitSupply for approx. $650 each; with both using VBC material. In comparison to a $650 FitWel suit, the SuitSupply ones of course have a much nicer external material. But the interior is not a nicely constructed, as they have none of the FitWel features I mentioned above. Specifically, the canvasing is not a nice, the trousers don't have a nice of a lining or as nice of a waistband, and the pockets are just a rough linen. So at that price point (which I think is pretty average for most guys), I don't think that one is better than the other. I was very excited to pick up my suits and shirts, as you can see from the above review. Then I packed, boarded a plane, and went to my big event in another country. I pulled out my shirt there and the button on the collar was broken. I had to pay for the hotel dry cleaners to fix it. The next day I pull out my suit and all the buttons are broken on the sleeve. With no time to fix them I had to go to my formal event with broken plastic buttons on my hand-tailored suit. As a warning: please check the items you order from Fit Wel: ours were not in good condition and it caused a bit of a headache, especially after spending so much. read more

STAY AWAY!!! DO NOT leave any clothes for tailoring with these idiots. The guy doesn't have a CLUE! He literally told me it was "impossible" to repair the waistband on some Brooks Brothers slacks, where the last woman had stitched it incorrectly. "It cannot be done." He ACTUALLY said that. And turned away my business. Thankfully. I almost had this moron make me a new 3/2 roll blazer! That would have been a disaster -- never mind the wasted thousands of dollars this worthless stain certainly does NOT deserve. Go next door to 1st Class Tailors. That's what I did. Walked in, tried on my trousers, and she did her thing! Bam!!! Problem solved and ready for pickup in 48 hours. THAT is what one expects. Take your business next door. I've been a loyal customer of Vasu at Fit Wel for many many years. I've used many custom tailors in the past, but at this point I will never buy shirts or suits from any other tailor again. At this point I think most of my colleagues use Vasu as well. Here's what sets Fit Wel apart in my experience: 1. Attention to Detail - Vasu will take all your measurements with an eye towards getting every last detail correct. He'll patiently walk you through all the different options - everything from color, pattern, type of fabric, type of collar, monograms, button types, etc. I'm an indecisive person and Vasu is always willing to spend as much time as needed to get everything perfect. I've literally gone in there and spent over 2 hours picking out shirts and suits 2. Value For Money - Fit Wel is surprisingly affordable considering that you'll get a completely bespoke shirt / suit / trousers / blazer. It actually ends up being cheaper (and much higher quality) than buying a suit off the rack and spending hundreds of dollars to get it altered to my body measurements. 3. They Actually Care! - In a world now devoid of good customer service, Vasu is a rare exception of someone who actually cares about your satisfaction. If a shirt arrives and doesn't fit exactly the way I want it to...no problem he will fix it. If a button falls off a suit a year after I bought it... no problem he will fix it. I have been going to Fit-Wel since I first started working as a management consultant in 2007. Hands down, I believe them to be the best value in Southern California for bespoke clothing, especially when you compare the alternatives ($75 to $120 per shirt vs. $200 - $300). Personally, I have never had a shirt, suit or pants fit better than what Fit-Wel provided (and I am not the easiest to fit.) I am not comparing this to simply off-the-rack clothing, but rather other tailors I have visited in Hong Kong and Thailand. If there was ever an instance where a shirt did not fit right, they took it back and made the alterations on-site. I have even brought bespoke suits (made by other tailors) to have them fixed and properly fitted at Fit-Wel. I would recommend these guys to anyone and I continue to buy from them today. They have sales often and even if you don't bring in a mailer, just ask for a discount (talk to Vasu.) read more

Recently went here and ordered a custom dress shirt. Was able to pick from hundreds of materials and was measured out for a perfect fit. Although I do not even have the shirt yet, I'm absolutely positive my shirt will be perfect. I was able to pick from the littlest details - sleeve lining, neck lining, collar style, sleeve style, etc. I also was able to get Thomas Mason material. This place is awesome. Great service! Not expensive, fast and my dress looks amazing. So happy I found this place.

I first used Fitwel more than 5 years ago. The initial process and products were satisfactory. However I just experienced nearly 10 months of the most disastrous back and forth - including two roundtrip flights from the east coast to Los Angeles - to try to fix several suits and shirts that were repeatedly screwed up. The initial $2k plus charge to my credit card was reimbursed (at my request) until things could be fixed and I came away with clothing that actually fit. After the fourth round of alterations (over an exhausting 9 months) made the garments worse than one could imagine, I simply gave up. Dozens of hours of my life were wasted on this effort and it resulted in ZERO items fitting the way they should. After the last shipment of ill-fitting replacement garments arrived, I awaited a call or email from the owner to see if I was satisfied. And if not satisfied, at least they might ask whether any of the clothing finally fit. After a month without any follow-up from Fitwel and tired of two ill-fitting, irreparable suits taking up space in my closet (along with a cardboard box of useless shirts sitting in the corner of my bedroom), I threw everything in the garbage bin next to my house. Then I found another tailor to make me clothes (which fit quite well). I was shocked to not hear from Fitwel - especially to inquire about whether they could charge me for at least some portion of the cost of the clothing - but I imagined they resigned themselves to the fact that the ordeal I endured was too egregious to even suggest I would be responsible for any payment. Several more months went by and I had almost forgotten about everything until.... BAM. A $2k plus charge hits my credit card with no warning and certainly no authorization from me. I was very confused - surely Fitwel wouldn't just charge my account. It had to be a mistake. Alas, no. It was intentional and Fitwel refused to reverse the charge. So I disputed the charge with my credit card company and now am dealing with that enjoyable process. I have also filed a complaint against Fitwel with the Los Angeles Better Business Bureau. So, if you're in the market for a tailor, let this be a warning for you. STAY AWAY. read more

Store is small but well stocked. Measurements are taken in the shop and then the suits are made in Hong Kong. Quality is good and the tailors are knowledgeable. 3 suits and shirts of the really good fabric cost around $3,000 which is very competitive for a custom job. I went here on my boss' recommendation and his suits look great and he has some from 5+ years ago that he wears often and they still look good and are holding up well. This is my first review - one tends to write negative review easier than a good one and I even signed up for this property to write a good one that good was the service. I may not have as much history and knowledge about custom tailoring but I do recognize great service easily. And the service that I received from Mr. Steve and team throughout the last 2 weeks was impeccable. My experience with Fit-Wel started off 2 weeks when I was on the search for a nice custom shirt for my wedding. Firstly, I certainly have a challenging body type (broader shoulders, smaller waist and slightly wider waist line), so I may or may not qualify for custom tailoring. While I had very specific ideas about the cloth quality and color, I received excellent advice leading to the exact right color matching my fiancé's dress, I moved away quickly from the cloth I had in mind. My ideas were always respected, however I soon recognized that it simply did not make sense and I followed the recommendation, which was dead on as I can now say. The measurement process was done patiently and in multiple rounds, even double checking the shirt that I brought with (and that I acknowledge now does not fit as nicely as I thought before, haha). I asked for a rather quick delivery within 2 weeks, which is to my understanding fairly quick and was not doable with most other tailors I asked before. I ended up bringing in my suit for alterations as well and just went there today to pick it all up again. Beyond the great service and the comfort I felt during the whole process, the results are as great. My suit fits perfect and the shirt is of the quality I was hoping it to be. What makes me rave about the place and what it truly lets it stand out of the crowd was the genuinely generous and warm service I received - after all the guys running the place gave me a present for my wedding which stands in absolutely no relation to the actual money I spent there for the alterations. Not impressed or very happy with this service. The gentleman will take your measurements in a very strange fashion and ask that you take your shirt off while doing so. The team is very nice but there is nothing premium about this process. I was ordering a custom shirt as a sample of the quality of the company first before I placed a larger order of multiple shirts and suits, needless to say that larger order will not come. The shirt arrived 4-5 weeks later and the tuxedo shirt came with a very low level material. The shirt felt very cheap and basic and it did not fit well. Under the arm pits was too big and loose, the biceps were too tight and the sleeves were about a full inch too short. Lastly, the stitching and monogram looked very poor, cheap and poorly done. Sadly, there are not that many custom clothiers in the LA area, but Fitwell is not a very viable option. Especially considering the price points and that my one single shirt was $150! Admittedly it was a tester so I was prepared to not use the shirt but its a lot of money to throw away for a shirt that I basically can never wear. read more
