My wife signed me up for this gym and I went one time. They seem to have a cancellation policy I was unaware of and they want you to send a certified letter of cancellation. They will not cancel unless you send it and they are adding charges to my account. I have a past due balance now of 89.00 and when I call to talk to someone all I can get is a customer service rep. No one in the corporate office will answer the phone. I am wondering how many other people this happened to while they fake charges, Seems to me it is a deceptive business practice and one that is gouging customers. If I do not here from someone I am going to call the attorney generals office and complain. Maybe that will get there attention! BTW the gym itself sucks the staff is only out to pick up on the female customers my wife was propositioned twice. There is a 24 hour fitness down the street is much better place to go! After speaking with someone this evening it is pretty clear they do this on purpose to get extra fees from people leaving the gym. Who send US mail anymore? So I'm at the point in my life where I'm getting back into shape. So I sought out a fairly priced gym which happened to be Fitness Connection. I signed up at the beginning of the summer where they were having a special of $10 down and $10 a month. The deal was so GOOD I had to take it. Fitness Connections has free classes that include zumba, cycling, yoga, body pump, etc. Along with cardio machines, and regular weight room machines you would see at any gym. Also Fitness Connections has a kids room for those who have kids to drop them off as workout which is also FREE! Which everyone loves to hear. My experience at Fitness Connections has been fairly interesting. For some reason EVERY male at this gym seems to think they're a trainer Lol. One of the times my friend and I were working on abs and after finishing a set we were taking a break and I guess a man from afar saw us and told us that our breaks were too long, we just playing around, and we were not taking working out seriously. Then he went ON, and ON, and ON about his own weight loss journey which we DID NOT ask for lol. So when coming to Fitness Connection make sure you have your music on FULL blast and don't make eye contact with anyone or you just might get a new personal trainer. read more

Beware before joining any fitness connection, read the cancellation policy. You have absolutely no other choice other than writing a certified letter to corporate to cancel. Three attempts by phone, two attempts in person all provide the same broken record, poor customer service response. Really doesn't seem like as much of an inconvenience as it really is!!! I tried Fitness Connection out for a week and found it to be full of teens and hard to workout since its so crowded. The reps who sign you up want to hustle you into buying a whole years worth of membership at a slightly discounted price and will be very aggressive like car salesmen. I had one keep my drivers license until he was done with his 20 min marketing push to get me to sign up. I had to push back just to get it back (not literally). They kept calling me and leaving voice mails for days and weeks trying to hustle me. Other than that its a great facility with great equipment. It's not a bad gym for the price. But at this price, it is ALWAYS crowded, which is to be expected. I have stopped going because it is nearly impossible to ever get a decent workout in unless you go around 2-4 AM. It got to the point where I never had a targeted workout because I had to use whatever machine or equipment was available. No routine whatsoever. I had my sister and son on my account and canceled because they never were able to go either. I had no issues w this. I sent both cancelations via certified mail and had a tracking number. I knew exactly when they got them so they weren't able to say they didn't and continue to charge me. I canceled April 1 and was not charged as of May 1. They do need to revamp the childcare situation. I don't bring my kid here for personal/various reasons, but I have seen issues that were unsettling. The main issue is watching a woman check in SEVERAL kids. The lady behind her was turned away w her ONE child because they were full. This place is cheap and gets the job done. They recently have been updating machines, classes, and redecorating so that's a plus. Although other gyms offer better equipment and amenities I don't think I'll ever cancel my membership here cause it's only $10. I have a membership here for when 24hr fitness is too crowded for me and on leg days I go here as they have more machines to choose from than 24hr fitness. Sauna breaks alot and the small lockers in the weight room are 25 cents whereas at 24hr they are free. Weights are hard to track down at times and they dont have 35lb weights either. They do have more treadmills, steppers and eliptacles than 24hr so that is also appreciated. On the bright side child care is free here and they charge at 24hr and this gym has more machines and benches than 24hr. I have tried for months to cancel my membership. Starting with a phone call in December 2018. After mailing letters to cancel my membership, I was told to send a letter with a tracking number. In April 2019, I sent a cancellation letter via Fedex. I have not received an invoice, have not been auto-drafted, had not written correspondence since. Where to begin? The lack of competency in your employees to give accurate information, the cleanliness of the gym, or the fact that you have to jump through hoops in order to cancel your membership. I have been fighting with Fitness Connection for 6 weeks to cancel, after speaking to employees about how the cancellation process works; however, either they informed me incorrectly or this process is EXTREMELY flawed because I have been charged AGAIN and was even charged the annual membership fee after sending in my cancellation. This is outrageous. Continuing to charge me $22.00 after my cancellation is terrible, but to then charge an additional $38.00 when that card declined (because I was cancelling) AND $38.00 for the annual fee doesn't make any sense! I would love to get answers AND get my money refunded immediately as my cancellation notice was in the mail by March 1, 2019 as I was informed by Fitness Connection employees. I have been a member now for a year and I will forever be a member. Test is packed but you have to know what times to go. They have multiple equipments, it's clean and the staff are friendly. I started off with the one in Irving mall and migrated to the one by parks, more convenient for me. Nonetheless, great affordable gym and the one in Irving has been revamped... Superb! I have another gym membership elsewhere to be honest, I enjoy being just a FC customer as I feel it's my home gym. Great friendly house keeping? Gym staff is great however the Trainers are very pushy! I would definitely decline the free personal training assessment if you know it is something you will not be interested in. Extremely happy with this gym. I'm not a cardio rat I'm a lifter training to be a body builder so having extensive amount of equipment and free weights is important to me. I'm only here in Arlington for a month and happy that I was able to find this gym that could accommodate my needs. I came here on a 5 day free pass. The moment I got there for my Zumba class they we're giving out free samples for what seemed a protein shake or so. I was running late to my Zumba class so I rushed into the locker room's which are red. I instantly met a girl & she joined me in the Zumba class it was very fun! We walked together on the tread mill & joined the sauna room aswell along with this new person. It was nice coming here.. Representative lied about the fees, they added a bullshit annual fee 30 days into my membership. They have an option to cancel online, except "it's not available in your area." So they basically make you wait around and don't even let you know that your account wasn't really terminated. You have to give 30 days notice AKA they want to squeeze another monthly fee out of you. Overall extremely shady company, what I thought was going to be like 100 bucks for a summer gym ended up being over 200. I could've gotten a membership at a good gym for that much. read more

Our local FC in Raleigh- Celebration at Six Forks shopping center- has been good about disclosing fees. They did not insist on doing bank drafts, but did credit card billing, which Clark Howard says is safer. They also have specials which apply only to the local gym- you don't get access to all the other locations. This tripped us up once, as I thought I was signing up my husband for the larger organization. But the specials give great prices for access to a lot of equipment and classes. I haven't experienced high-pressure sales here in Raleigh. I did not have to send a certified letter to cancel my daughter's membership. I did not have to wait a long time on hold. As for crowds- there are crowded times, which I avoid. Most of the time I have little or no trouble getting onto the equipment I want. Sometimes a piece of equipment is down for repairs, but they get it fixed in a reasonable time. I have seen bad reviews for Fitness Connection, and I'm just saying that not everyone has a bad experience. Well, you get what you pay for. The only time you are able to utilize all equipment and amenities ( basketball court) is early AM. If your a parent of a child that plays basketball and want to practice basketball skills with them, take them out of school to utilize the basketball courts or go before 11am on the weekends. If you try to to utilize the court after 4p during the week day the facility let's the members run pickup games/ leagues all night (when school is out) I brought this to the attention of the GM James and his response was... " We are not going to police the courts, it's first come, first serve." I thought this solution was very uncaring and rude. I think this so called GM James forgot I'm a customer, paying monthly and annual dues, or maybe he just doesn't care. They don't have a problem policing my bank account... I get the impression the staff is scared to enforce that the court are to be utilize by all members, they would rather you adjust your schedule to use the space advertised as accessible to all members. Where to begin? Lets start with UBF, Ultra Body Fitness. I got suckered into a one year "deal". A deal where the assigned trainer was always late, charged me a workout even thought I cancelled one appointment with over 24 hours notice. Then I took a break to find out that about 20 of my work outs were "stolen" from me, which was easy to prove since I hadn't signed in to the gym on any of those days. To find out that trainer was fired for "stealing" sessions. Yet no one called to follow up before I brought it to their attention. So I go back, with forgiveness and knowing they would make it right. Here goes trainer number 2. Nice guy, always on time and focused on me during my work outs. He was by far the BEST trainer I have EVER worked out with. Two weeks into the sessions he quits because "they" don't like him and have been giving him a hard time. UBF at this location is run by arrogant boys who are more concerned about hiring attractive female trainers and flirting than what they get paid to do. As for the gym, I never liked it. My personal opinion. It's not run professionally and there is no accountability. I go to cancel my membership and am told that I will be charged for January, February and that I need to send letter Certified Mail because they might not get it otherwise. You would think I was resigning from my sports team. Its a gym membership on a month-to-month basis. This gym is a joke. My personal thoughts. Was trying to switch from 24. But they dont have a steam room or pool, but do have same classes as 24. Lady showed me around, filled out her questionaire about me. Then when it came time to the prices, she used pressure tactics to sign me up right then by making up some BS story how the computer system was changed this morning to no longer offering their 9.99 deal. Lady didnt give me any info regarding personal training fees if i wanted them. The offer: $49 enrollment fee, then $9.95/mo with no cancellation fees. The math makes it $ 16.45/month with the $29 annual maintainence fee included. Taxes are not included in the price, and they want to bill you from your banks checking account, no credit cards! If i dont accept today, then tomorrow it would be, with the math done right, 1 club access for 44.78/mo. They have only 26 locations in the USA, in 3 states TX, NC, and NV. When i shared with her the math i had done, being more than what i currently pay at 24, the lady realized she was not going to sign me and get her commission. She wouldn't negotiate anything pricewise. She blew me off against the normal flow of our pleasant conversation. This place is basically trying to copycat 24 with its same amenities and classes, trying to advertise it with 9.99, but dont give in unless you have done prior research with other gyms. Even less than fitness connection's $16/mo is 24 hour fitness's $12/month for 2 years membership if you use a prepayed $370 card from Costco. This covers all sport locations ~300 in the USA. Let me start this by saying, I was extremely out of shape. I had surgery which put me flat on my back for three months and then unable to do much other than walk at a slow pace for almost a year. My self confidence has taken a major hit. After realizing I was never going to get back in shape without the gym, I reluctantly joined at this location with the reassurances of my "friend' who has been a member here for years. Day One: I was told you can't just get a membership. You have to sit with a "counselor" and go through your life history, goals, why you're joining, etc. as if they are selective about who they take $10/month from. Then you have to pay $75 joining fee up front before they will even let you try out the gym according to this guy. High pressure. Since I was committed, I joined. After work, I'd change into my workout gear and go straight to the gym. I realized that the locker rooms were not for me as they are always packed at that time with people sitting around watching TV and chatting. There are no locks provided for the lockers and you can't rent one. You have to bring your own and take it with you when you leave. Without fail, every single day for over a month, the guy who signed me up for my membership would come around pressuring me to do a "free" consultation with a physical trainer. I told him no repeatedly and said I just wanted to work out at my own pace and get back into it. I knew what I needed to do, I just needed to work back up to it. Meanwhile, these same muscle bound apes gather around in the corner of the gym and watch everyone. They do not walk the floor and give any tips or pointers that may save someone an injury (and get them more appointments). Paper towels gone or no cleaning spray? They'll watch you look for it and watch you try to get paper towels and offer NO assistance. Not their job. Go to the front and tell the girls at the counter about it and they say, "Someone will be there to fill them up in a few minutes." Meanwhile, your workout is screwed and you've left nasty equipment. Finally, after continual pressure I agreed to schedule an appointment. I showed up dreading it and the physical trainer never showed. That's right....stood me up. On my next visit, the same "counselor" came around asking me about my appointment and I told him what happened. Instead of customer service, he all but called me a liar and asked if I had "chickened out". That was it for me. I was done. Back to my community gym. I haven't been back. Forgot I even had the membership until I started getting collections calls because I cancelled my credit card. So, I called the number that was left for me. I held for 26 minutes to speak to someone and then had a rude "customer service rep" tell me they don't cancel memberships over the phone, you have to do it online. I told her I had held for 26 minutes and she said, "That's our policy" and hung up. THIS ENTIRE CORPORATION IS A JOKE!!!!!!!
