When it comes to bowling alley food, I've generally had decent luck. Fitz's Bar inside of Cedarvale Lanes is no different. This is your typical, cookie cutter bowling alley bar feel. Weirdly lit with terrible carpet, a bar straight out of the 80s, dated carpet and overall furnishings. But isn't that what makes it great? I've always had a pleasant experience with the staff. They all always appear to be super busy but stay friendly. They definitely favor the regulars a little but rightfully so. I'm not mad about it. The food is average to above average. They have some insanely good nachos which I strongly recommend. Other things, such as burgers, can be a miss but not terrible. Wings, chicken tenders, and various sandwiches are all decent. I can't say whether or not I would seek it out or go out of my way for but if you are bowling or even just in the area, it's worth having.

Best nachos I've ever had (and huge!!). Great laneside, unless you're sloppy, chased with an adult beverage. Sunday brunch also well worth the price. We stopped on our way to the airport for a nice indulgence to tide us on the way home.

Fitz's does a few things well. The Ruban is good. They have a nice selection of draft beers. The restaurant is relatively clean and the service has always been excellent. However, I'd like to bring something to your attention. Please note that it's obvious from the attached photo that corners are being cut on the portion size and quality. The cost and portion size that made this part of the meal unacceptable. *Fried Cheese Curds $8.50.

    Nachos. 9/10.

Usually stop by before going to a Gophers basketball game. We like because the service is friendly and fast. Good food at very reasonable prices. I recommend the club and nachos. It's very popular so others must think the same.

On a rainy day like today, this is a great option for food and entertainment; sweatpants and cut-off t-shirts are encouraged (and I'm saying this with love). I ordered the sloppy joe special, which just makes me adore the Midwest even more. I dripped all over my fries (a sign of some good slop), but I didn't eat the fries because they were bland and squishy. The wings were nothing special (but nothing horrid), and the breadsticks were HOT (in temperature). I barely chewed and did that whole open-your-full-mouth-and-breathe-in-and-out-fast-to-cool-down-the-bite-you-shouldn't-have-taken thing. Bread and bowling is a blissful combination that is hard to beat. We made sure to check when league ends so we could time our dinner.

Enjoyed a quick drink and appetizer with my wife in between The MN Vikings training camp. McKenna our server was great, polite and on task. Friendly staff, cooks playing around in the kitchen but still sanitary. Enjoyed sharing a delicious buffalo chicken wrap and awesome sweet potato fries. WE WILL BE BACK:)

My dinner was especially good....the chicken fried perfectly...all dark meat the way I like it. The potato salad was not what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm used to a mayo based potato salad but this was even better with lots of flavor! The corn was also delicious. Everyone was very happy with their dinners. The chicken and waffle dish was also good. Ratio of breading to chicken was perfect and perfectly seasoned. The honey butter that came with it was also delicious. The New Orleans shrimp bowl was great too. The ratio of shrimp, which was perfectly cooked, to rice was good. Lots of great flavor. I think that everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. The only "ding" would be the service. We had to ask for silverware so we could eat and had to wait for straws because she forgot. I'm still going to give it 5 stars even though the service was lacking a bit. She was very nice but seemed rushed.

What a disappointment today. Party of 4 to celebrate a birthday. I suggested the restaurant and was…read morequite surprised by how drastically different this visit was compared to the previous. I ordered the Social salad. It was good but the presentation was trash. I also got a cup of the She - Crab soup. It was also just okay and certainly overpriced. Husband got the Pork Belly Burnt Ends at my suggestion. He asked if they had sauce added to them and if so, to get it on the side. Our server said they are prepared and the sauce caramelizes so no, no sauce. He asked due to being a type 1 diabetic and needed to calculate his insulin. Well, they came out covered in fresh sauce and were too dry to swallow. There were six chewed up bits of pork left on his plate when it was cleaned away. The Texas toast was the only redemption. Lastly the two others shared the half bird entree. Presentation was haphazard and the chicken was visually dry looking. They ate most of it and said the biscuit and sweet potatoes were good. The food alone wasn't bad enough to keep me away; but combining it with the service was. Our server Laura (sp?) didn't make her debut well after we've been sitting 10 minutes. We were there at 5:30 on Sunday. It wasn't busy at all. She was very nice. Her second stop was to take our orders. Food runner came and asked if we needed anything else. I asked for water as my glass was bone dry (I even ate my ice) and others' were 1/4-1/3 full. She said she couldn't bring beverages. It's water...not vodka. Weird. So Laura eventually comes back and filled our drinks and left the bill. She did overhear the birthday happenings and was nice enough to offer a free dessert. She got her cash payment and we never saw her again. Maybe it was the end of her shift? It just felt off. The table next to us had quite a few complaints and had a different server, so maybe there was just a bad vibe with the staff today? Hopefully management can figure it out. Bathrooms were nice and decor was nice throughout the restaurant.

Perfect for a date night, friend catch-up, or solo Whiskey adventure, Volstead House is a vibe! Pair the atmosphere with top notch, educated bartenders and mixologists...you know you'll be taken care of! We started with the A La Louisiane, a spirit-forward, whiskey cocktail with some funk from Peychauds and Absinthe. It was delicious and well balanced. We also shared the Glazed Carrots and the Parm Fries. The carrots didn't hit for me, as the glaze and sauce lacked a punch of flavor but the fries were crispy and delicious. First off, going through the hidden Coke machine entrance is actually really fun and makes the whole place feel like a little adventure. The decor and speakeasy atmosphere are definitely the standout. Very cool space. VERY loud though. Like "lean across the table and say WHAT?" loud at times. The waitress was super nice and recommended a mocktail for me that called Ass in the Sand. It ended up being really good. It tasted like an elevated lemonade and was probably one of my favorite parts of the meal. Started with the rolls and whipped honey butter which were delicious. Very soft, warm, and honestly dangerous because I could've just kept eating bread all night. For the main meal, I did the Wagyu Burger with Parmesan fries. The burger itself was okay but surprisingly didn't have a ton of flavor outside of the grilled/charred taste. The Parmesan fries were actually the standout for me -- hand cut fries and parmesan fries are just hard to mess up. My partner tried the Mushroom Soup en Croute and wasn't a fan because the mushrooms were blended and he said it lacked flavor. He also had a Steak Taco special using their medallion steak and said even with lime it still needed more flavor. Finished with Crème Brûlée which is always a classic favorite for me and this one was good. Overall: fun experience, cool hidden entrance, great decor, good mocktail and bread, but the actual food menu is pretty limited and the flavors didn't totally wow me for the price. Glad I went and finally crossed it off my list, but probably a one-and-done visit for me.

Was a busy Friday night at Cedarvale lanes that's for sure. I called ahead to make a lane…read morereservation and was a bit frustrated they didn't take reservations on Fridays. They also told me they had league night which in my experience is a bit strange for a Friday. They assured me they'd still have a lane open when we arrive at 830Pm. Upon arrival they had a huge line and waitlist and everyone had to wait until league got out at 9pm; felt further frustrated. We got onto our lane at 905pm, not the worst as we got a round of pool in prior to playing. From here, the night went nice and smooth. Prices were a lot higher than I remember, $27 a person for 2 hours, but that's the economy I suppose. Got 3 games in, in 2 hours between 4 people. Ordered a couple pizzas, which were okay but a bit underwhelming. Years ago I remember this bowling alley having quite good pizza but it seems they downgraded their kitchen, at least after 9pm, and they only served personal sizes, no large pizzas. Regardless of the frustrating wait, and odd and underwhelming pizza, I enjoyed a nice evening of bowling with friends.
