Overall, just a fun place. Their food is good, the milkshakes are a lot of fun. The place itself is always a fun environment too.

Floats are fun with lots of interesting options. Definitely worth sharing. Service wasn't great.

Fitz's is a STL mainstay for a reason. They have excellent sodas and good food. I recommend coming VERY hungry or prepared to split some dishes and/or ice cream floats. First the sodas. Their flag ship root beer is solid, not overly sweetened soda. You can order a bottomless mug and switch between a few of the sodas-- root beer, creme soda, cardinal creme, and a couple others. For the ice cream and dessert lovers, you must try one of their unique floats. One whole page of their me u is devoted to all of them! They include the standards like a root beer floats to flavor variations like the strawberry soda with strawberry ice cream to truly unique like the trolley car which has creme soda, vanilla ice cream and oreo cookie crumbles. Their food menu is standard American continental, done really well. I usually get one of their burgers (the Elvis and the King Louis are 2 favorites) to split with a companion. If you mention splitting a meal, they will cut the burger and serve it on separate plates. The people have always been good to me too. Hostess is friendly and welcoming. The servers attentive and friendly and prompt. Our order came out quicker than we were expecting on our most recent visit! They are very kid-friendly for kids of all ages. read more

Bun to big for the amount of meat. They have no coffee or any hot drinks so don't go when it is a cold day or evening. All i tried here was a float and fries and honestly i was underwhelmed but i guess u gotta come here for all the crazy sodas. The ambiance is old timey so if thats ur thing u'll love it. Service was quick and our server issac was very friendly and helpful. The floats were massive, when we saw them come out we regretted not sharing. I thought the whole thing about floats was to be able to mix the ice cream and soda but they put like 10 scoops of ice cream so its impossible to actually mix anything without making a huge mess or just drinking the soda plain first. They also have many mix-ins with the ice cream which is weird almost like a sundae ontop of a glass of soda. Mine had marshmallow fluff on it and i regretted getting that one because it got too cold with the ice cream and kept clogging the straw and made it even harder to mix up lol - i wouldn't recommend any options with marshmallow fluff. Overall, it was cool i guess, seemed like the floats being massive is kinda a gimmick but i dont think i'd pay $8 for one again. I guess i should have tried one of the cooler soda flavors to be able to drink it alone before the ice cream. My friend got 'shirley temple' flavor and that one was awesome!! read more

I've lived in the area my whole life and never made a trip to the Delmar Loop. My wife and I were in the city on an errand and decided to try Fitz for lunch. My first time at Fitz as well. For a summer Friday afternoon, they were busy. We were told a 10-15 minute wait, but got in much sooner. The old building is pretty cool and the restaurant is decorated well. We were taken upstairs and seated with a window view of the street. Our server, Zachary. Was great. Super friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. We both ordered the bottomless mugs of root beer and burgers. I had the Bourbon Burger and my wife had the Bottler's Burger. Our food came out super fast! The fries were hot and well seasoned. The burgers had good flavor but nothing that blew me away. Seemed like frozen patties but the other ingredients were fresh. I think the real draw is the soda and desserts. We did not order dessert, but the ones I saw looked real good. Fitz's is definitely a place to stop if you are in the area. The only real drawback was the noise. Was in town with friends who had never been to Fitz's and thought I'd show them what it and the Delmar Loop were all about. (Chuck Berry's Blueberry Hill, Vintage Vinyl and the whole nine yards.) Came in and first ordered the obligatory app of toasted ravioli, a St. Louis staple. It was great!! The meat, the breading, just everything done to perfection. Our meals were good, and the servings were excellent. I go the bacon, lettuce, avacado, turkey, and tomato wrap, which was really good. They put a ton of avacado in it, which is always a plus in my book! We all also ordered floats and of course those were good as well. We had an 8 year old in our party, and she got extra everything for her S'more float because the waitress said she was too cute not to get extras. Service was good and extremely friendly. Our waitress was efficient and kind and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Prices were a bit higher than what I remember, but for a place like that, it makes sense. My husband and I are huge root beer people so we figured for his birthday we would take a trip and try fitz's! Upon entering the host completely ignored us when told to seat us from another employee he ignored him and looked back down, we didn't get seated until a second host came over and seated us. Our server handed us the menus, watched us pick our drinks and then asked for our food order. I had to ask for a drink menu which was for some reason on multiple tables just not ours. Was excited to come here! Sat immediately but waited almost 10 minutes for any service. Saw the menu and couldn't believe the prices for simple burgers and fries, let alone $4 for a root beer, and $8 for a float. This place was recommended to us when we saw that they were selling the soda gateway Arch. So we came here to get a tour of the canning, but it was close by then. Came here for a late lunch with a friend and had a pretty good time. Service was friendly, and the food was pretty good. I really enjoyed the buffalo fried cauliflower, and the spinach artichoke dip was really good. Had to get a root beer float, of course. My only complaint is that my friend ordered a Shirley Temple and never received it, but we got charged for it and didn't notice until after paying. Came here on a whim and there was a 30 min wait so I decided to order food and drinks at the upstairs bar. The place is pretty big. The bartender was super nice...I think her name is Danielle? She helped me with my order since it was my first time here. I got the bottomless root beer so I could try a bunch of them. I tried a little of all of them but my favorite was definitely the dark cherry root beer. I ordered the Bourbon burger which was made just the way I like my medium rare and it was so tasty with the little fried onion and bacon. Fitz is nostalgic for me. My dad used to taker and my siblings all the time as a kids, A STL favorite in our house. Haven't been in a long time so me and my sister went before a show at the pageant. It's by no means gourmet food but it's classic, The Philly Cheesesteak was a little dry, the flavor was really good but it could have used some type of sauce Aioli or even just Mayo and it would have been amazing. The Spinach Artichoke Dip was one of the best I've ever had, the pita instead of chips really brings it over the top. Cocktails were very yummy as well! Wow. This is our birthday place. The portions are grand, and the foods are wonderful. The colossal pork steak is colossal and delicious. The fish is amazing. The fries, chili, and all of the other creations just keep us coming back from 30 miles away. The soda on tap is better than the bottles and that's saying something. Let's start with Eddie who was working the upstairs...he is AMAZING!! Never let him go, he is the face and personality of this great place! The last time we were here was a year ago for a volleyball tournament and he remembered us!! He was every bit the best waiter we have had in a long time and went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. Now, my husband and daughter had the burgers and they were great. My husband is gluten free and Eddie made sure my husband had a meal he really enjoyed. I got the chili which was ok, I have had better. My wife, M-I-L, and I ate here on a week day afternoon. The place was not super busy, and we were able to seat ourselves. Our server, Jade, was very knowledgeable of the menu, on top of service, and able to memorize all of our orders perfectly without writing things down--always scares us as diners, but she crushed it! We ordered the spin dip as an appetizer, which we ordered with pita bread. The app was pretty good, but a downside is that it did come out just a few moments before the rest of our meal. My wife and mother in law split the chopped Italian salad, which was pretty good. They also split the sunny BLT without the egg. The sandwich was crispy and the fries were a big hit. For my entree, I ordered just a classic cheeseburger with pub sauce on the side. The burger was delicious and I loved the fries as well. A wonderful crisp on the fries were great! Our service was excellent, drinks were always filled, and bottomless root beer was filled and cold! The ambiance was fairly quiet as there weren't too many people and there were no bottle tours at the time we diners. The vibe was still fun and a cool environment.
