Oh but, "They'll be here tomorrow" which does absolutely nothing for the graduation today! They put together a lei (the only one it appeared they had and stuck some blue ribbon in it. They did reimburse me for the cost of the second lei as well as the tip I had left. I'm super frustrated because they had my number and at no time did they call me and say there was a problem. That would've given me more time to find another florist that could MAYBE get something together. Trying to find a florist that can pull off a lei ON THE DAY is near impossible and in a short time frame. This is the first time I've done business with The Flower Cottage, and the last. The ball was really dropped on this one.

That was the highlight of my day. I think this place is great for a cute little outdoorsy picnic in the shade or take the little ones to experience all the animals on the farm. I spoke with a friend about our experiences at Johnson's, and we both agreed, it feels like walking into an old western saloon where everyone knows "you ain't from around these parts!" I was looking to buy a magnolia, but wanted to know what the differences were, which is better for our environment, so I approached an employee who tried to avoid eye contact with me until he could do it no longer. He started stammering when I asked if he knew anything about the trees I had considered contenders. He fumbled with his walky-talky to try to find someone else to help me, but spotted (who I found out later was the manager) watering plants in the vicinity. He asked her if she could help and she replied rudely with "WHAT?" as she clearly saw me (the customer) asking a question. He stammered nervously and she followed up with "What do you want?" I jumped in and asked my questions about which is best and she said, "They're all pretty much the same." I asked if any were better for our climate/environment and she said with an attitude, "We don't sell anything that doesn't grow around here." She then curtly turned away and went on with watering the plants. I did not feel copacetic with her "customer service," so I bought my tree and decided not to go back. I would rather go to an establishment with less selection, but better service. Also, the prices are on the higher side for some things, but reasonable for others, it just depends on what it is. Either way, Home Depot works for me from now on, and if they don't have what I want, I'll research somewhere other than Johnson's. It's a shame, too, because the place is like walking through a botanical garden, only the vibe given by the staff is that "it ain't big enough for the both of us!"

Beautiful quality, incredibly healthy, already nearly taller than the established shrubs, and very reasonably priced at $129. They helped load it, answered questions, and made the whole process easy. All I have left to do is widen the hole I already dug. You can see a dip in the existing row from an earlier Photinia replacement several years ago from Costco. Love Costco but sometimes you don't want to wait. Thanks Chris!

We both opted for the red wine tasting and appreciated the variety. There were one or two I didn't like as much, but I loved being able to taste such different wines. We also decided to splurge and share the white wine tasting. I loved their Rose and one of their white wines. We ended up buying a bottle of the Red Syrah and White Fiano as gifts for friends. What really took this place up from 4 to 5 stars was house hospitable and kind the staff was! Dana in particular was so warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in, asking how we ended up in Morgan Hill and congratulating us on our recent job offers. She even brought out some complimentary champage because she was so happy for our recent life changes! I have lived in the south AND the midwest, two places known for hospitality, but have never had a better experience with hospitality than here at MHC. Can't wait to come back and try more wines while I am chilling in "MoHi" for a few more weeks!

We chose to do our tasting out on the garden patio. Once we got out there my first impression was of neglect and sadness. I hoped it wasn't going to be a reflection of the wines we'd be tasting. Unfortunately it was. All were bad, some worse than others. The "champagne" had no bubbles. We noticed this before we began our tasting. They all tasted like they came from bottles that had been opened weeks before being poured for our tasting. My fiancé asked if they had tasted the wines that morning to QC, and the tasting room hostess said she had. She either has no clue what the wine should taste like or she lied. Maybe both. We heard that this winery has been changing hands frequently and that in the past had produced good wine. I will keep my fingers crossed that who ever is the current owner will be able to turn this winery around. In the meantime I couldn't in good conscience recommend anyone making time to taste here.

I had a specialty vegetable cleaver that I needed repaired and sharpened. It had been used by someone to cut something they shouldn't have and there was a nice chunk missing. I brought it into the store and dropped it off. It was ready in a matter of days and the price was more than reasonable, despite them having to do some extra work to get rid of the chip. What j I appreciate it is that they did the repair in a manner that maintained the integrity of the Knife when they could've just had their way with it. I wouldn't have known the difference. They also have a nice variety of kitchen accessories and I was able to pick up a knife sheath to protect everyone from the now razor Sharp clever. It's nice having a local business that does quality work and took the time to explain my options and what was done. They deserve 6 out on f 5 stars!

He came home with money burning a hole in his pocket, and the desire to own a chef grade knife. So, we walk in on New Year's Eve eve. Yes, you read that right, the day BEFORE New Year's Eve after going from Asian market to Home Goods, and any possible place to find a better knife than the under 100 cheap, not very well taken care of knives that we own. There were many questions, and Eden patiently, and ENTHUSIASTICALLY educated us, for over an hour about knives. Knives forged in Japan by old sword makers, knives blacksmithed by specialty metalists. There wasn't a detail he couldn't say, but most importantly, he was just PASSIONATE about his craft. We returned the following day and bought a VERY expensive knife. It's everything my beau dreamed of and more. And the amount of knowledge he spread in that interaction was something that I knew needed to be recognized. So thank you for that. The person who ended up making the sale was not at all on your level, but friendly enough. Thank you Eden for reminding me of how important it is to work at a job you truly enjoy.

I was in Morgan Hill to meet up with some friends recently.  I was early to the event, so I had…read moretime to check out BookSmart before they closed on a Saturday.  Nestled in a busy shopping center, there's plenty of parking in the lot (even though it was a busy weekend afternoon/evening).   While the store isn't the largest, there are plenty of books adorning the walls and lining the shelves in the middle aisles.  There are plenty of the normal best sellers available, but also plenty of treasured finds.  Though I only spent 20 minutes in browsing the stacks, I stumbled upon an independently published sports book as well as 2 childrens books I haven't found elsewhere, all of which will make great holiday gifts.   Coincidentally, the day I visited was also BookSmart's 30th anniversary party!  They had complimentary glasses of champaign as well as a photo booth for their regular customers (both of which I politely declined).  It's great to see an independent bookstore thriving in this community.  The next time I'm in the area, I will stop by and take more time to check out the inventory!
