Our company held our 2016 Annual Holiday Party here, WOW. The food was VERY GOOD. Service was excellent, our private room upstairs was decorated tastefully. We had a private bar upstairs and the drinks were made very well. I would like to try this place again for dinner. I would for SURE recommend a private party here. read more

The 5 Crowns seemed to have significantly raised their menu prices exclusively to gouge the festive Xmas crowd and that's not cool . . . example - the Henry VIII cut of prime rib went from $46 (around Thanksgiving) to $60 during December. My husband and I went to Five Crowns last night with two other couples based on our recommendation, and Five Crowns did not disappoint! As usual the food was excellent, the service impeccable. All in all a very delightful evening. The only area that we believe should be improved would be the interior - just a bit on the darker, dreary side. Maybe just a minor renovation and modernization of the interior would turn this into a clear cut 5 star. After drinks, we rolled right into appetizers. My husband and his cronies ordered escargot, they claimed it was some of the best they can remember. No complaints on any of the entrees- Prime Rib is always fabulous here! To top the evening off, the waitress spilled ice cream from the serving tray, and wouldn't you know it, partially on my white suit jacket! We understand stuff happens and the manager handled the situation very well. They quickly apologized and said to take my suit to my favorite drycleaner and they would pick up the bill. Went to this restuarant becuase we were too lazy to drive down to L.A. for Lawry's. It is owned by the same company as Lawry's in Santa Monica and there are few similarities, but the food is not the same. First off, the decor is totally different, Lawrys has a clean and upscale design, whereas Five Crowns is more of a English country home and very cozy. THe prime rib is almost as good as Lawry's, but I must say the cream corn does not taste the same. THe service here is excellent since they are have smaller dinning area. The price is comparable to Lawrys, but you save 45 minutes of driving to LA. You should give this place a try. read more

Beautiful restaurant, nicely decorated for the holidays. Charming and classy. The service was excellent. My friends had prime rib which came with Yorkshire pudding and a choice of two sides. My salmon came only with green beans on the plate. It seemed lacking. In addition to the green beans, there should have been a choice of one side. read more

First time having oysters and it was absolutely delicious! And the prime rib is AMAZING:) wasn't a fan of their chocolate dessert but everything else was Great! Definitely will be coming back! Dined at Five Crowns last night for the first time in at least 15 years. The ambience was nice in a English pub decor with an atrium attached. I always had good memories of their food especially the prime rib. Last night I was quite disappointed. My prime rib came out looking very delicious, I also ordered the creamed spinach and the creamed corn. The taste of everything was ok but my dish was cold. Nothing worse than cold foo!. I also felt the accompanying horseradish had no flavor. We had strawberry shortcake for dessert and the biscuit was dry. In total our bill for 4 people was 400 dollars, definitely not worth it. read more

I recently visited Lawry's 5 Crowns with some friends. I had heard rumors since the move to corporate ownership there had been some unwelcome changes to the beloved local eatery. I had also eaten at 5 Crowns when it was under original ownership so as I was eating my meal I could not help compare the two experiences. We noticed a wedding event being held from the sign outside. With our reservations we were immediately sat down to a square table for the four of us in the center of the room. This became an issue when the entree plates came the table for four was very crowded. Sourdough bread and Swedish limpa rye. I enjoyed both, but found it odd they served unsalted butter with salt on the side. The containers for the butter were very small, enough for 2 or 3 pieces of bread so we had to ask for more butter several times. Our server arrived and we promptly had our order taken. Very nice and professional, took the time to explain streamlined one page menu. I had no issue with her service at all however service as a whole was not as expected. I've worked in restaurants and catering so I'm aware that table side service is one factor of many in getting the food the guests. We were also asked to make a desert choice with our starters and entree selection at the beginning of the meal. I ordered the Pride of the Crowns salad which I asked to split with a friend and for entree English cut prime rib (3 slices) with cream of corn and mashed potatoes for sides. There were large gaps in service for items to come out and this was quite uncomfortable for us. Several times the area we were in that had 7 cover tables was devoid of any food being brought out. I'm skipping ahead but the meal took two hours to complete. The busboy was extremely professional and if he hadn't been cycling drinks and bread for us the wait would have been worse, we had arrived with appetites. I don't think delays were from the table service either. I suspect it was the wedding reception being held outside or something to do with back of the house expediting. Regarding the food, the salad was OK. It included butter greens, walnut, bacon and vinegarette. It was very loose, only a few hints of cheese and even though I like it a bit heavy on the bacon. It was split so maybe it threw proportions off. The English cut I ordered medium rare, advertised as three thin slices. The meat was the best at that level I've had for prime rib! Very trimmed with a hint of crust and fat on the edges, done to perfect pink, zero gristle. Not much marbling so overall flavor was 7 out of 10. Creamed corn and mashed potatoes, again not much to say. I make similar with my deli sausage for dinner. Our server took notice of the delays or the "something" that was occurring during the meal. She did comp us a couple shortcake and cream deserts with strawberry sauce. The desert was a nice gesture and tasted very balanced. Fresh cream and a strawberry sauce that was not too sweet, perfect. Walking back to our car we enjoyed but all had question marks. Was the event causing delays in the main service area? Is Lawry's struggling to boost sales with events but keeping costs low by not providing needed staff? Or is there an issue with the back of the house for organization and food expediting? All still open questions, but service timings aside, a satisfactory experience. I would go elsewhere for the same price and quicker service still for that level of dining. Much improved since the corporate buy out, but growing issues still. I hope things balance out for them. read more

I've been going to Five Crowns for over 20 years and have always loved the experience. My family went to celebrate a birthday about 2 months ago. I am sad to say it was the worst experience I've ever had there. I understand they did a remodel and make over of the menu but when I asked if I could get Beefsteak Neptune (Filet w/crab and asparagus and bernaise sauce). I was told "no". We asked if there were any chef specials. The waitress said "no." We were told how they have this new organic and sustainable menu now. The waitress told us that same line over and over. The food was marginal at best. I had the usual prime rib dish but this time it was dry and didn't have much flavor. The potato's that came with the chicken dish also lacked flavor. The salmon was overcooked and dry. The prices were still expensive. I could care less about all that sustainable BS, just serve great food like Five Crowns used to. I don't think they should have changed the menu or the way Five Crowns has done business for the past 50 years. Bring back the creative chefs that had wonderful special dishes. Get rid of the Chefs that can't seem to make Beef Steak Neptune! My family will not be back any time soon. read more

I dined here during Newport restaurant week. I choose the prime rib because this restaurant is affiliated with Lawry's and I loved the prime rib when I had it at Lawry's. Bad decision. I wish I read the Yelp reviews before I made that decision. If only I could rewrite history. The prime rib was so salty. How dare they ruin beef! Oh. And don't get me started on their French Onion Soup! Horrifying! They should be embarrassed to let it leave the kitchen! The cheese on top was melted into a liquid velveeta consistency. It did not have that chewy bounce. They must have used the wrong cheese. The soup itself was salty too. Perhaps that's just legit English food. I would go back to try other items on the menu because I want to like this restaurant. I did return later to check out the Sidedoor on my birthday. The Sidedoor is their adjoining bar area which also serves food. The dining experience there was excellent. I left a review for that experience on their Yelp page. We attended our niece's wedding at Five Crowns yesterday and I must say it was beautiful and intimate!! The mimosa bar with the meat and cheese appetizers while the pictures were taken of the bridal party and families was perfect!!! The plated food, from the salad to the creme brûlée dessert was definitely 5 star quality!! The food was the correct temperature and so flavorful! Even the coffee was outstanding!! We are from Cherry Valley in Riverside County and if we lived closer, our 2 grown daughters said they would love to consider this venue for their weddings!!! read more

My family has been going to the Five Crowns for birthdays and Christmas since I can remember (they opened in '65; we've probably been going since 1970). Well, that restaurant, which I loved and looked forward to for special family celebrations, is gone. What a tragedy. Aren't there enough trendy, modern, 'hip' restaurants around? Couldn't we have kept one really nice traditional? Apparently not, as Lawry's grandson has taken over and somehow thought the place needed one huge changeover. In the spring/summer, we ask to sit in the Garden Room. What a mistake. It used to be a pretty light room; now it's a plain, open room with grey tile floors, combined with the glass ceiling becomes a tunnel of NOISE - and that was with two other tables of two, us (four), and the party of SEVEN that came in, drinks in hand, celebrating. I don't begrudge anyone else a good time, but after that, we gave up on any detailed conversation, and understood why our waitress had a booming voice. Though I understand the menu changes seasonally, it is very limited. I ordered a plate of cooked/roasted/steamed vegetables - had to ask for it, then wait for the server to ask the chef, since that is no longer on the menu (my family loved that right there on the old menu they offered a lovely dish of roasted vegetables, and it really was). No more Pride of the Crowns salad. Our server recommended something else, claiming it was 'very similar'; it was not, and that was obvious from just reading the menu. The vegetables arrived, as if tossed onto the plate from the pan. No presentation. Barely cooked. I know veggies are supposed to be 'more healthy' and it's 'trendy' to not cook them for more than 5 minutes, AND the menu is 'seasonal' so there wasn't much variety, but... really? That's the best you can do? So I ate my crunchy vegetables, sipped the champagne we'd ordered to celebrate (VERY limited wine list also), and other members of the family ordered the one thing they did keep, the roast beef - sent back by one person as it was not rare (it was medium), and the other, who had ordered the end cut, had about three bites before stating how dry it was. Didn't touch the yorkshire pudding, as that was dry. Just like old times, we were told they still served souffé for dessert - yay - and then claimed that "it actually tastes like chocolate now". Really? I thought it tasted like chocolate before, but okay. We each ordered one. Not one of us finished it. It was a mound of dark, dark, rich chocolate... served with... whipped cream?! I'm sorry, 'Devonshire Cream' is how it was described (uh, no). No more crème anglaise, sorry, guess that's too dated for the young, hip crowd they're trying to bring in (isn't that why they opened the more casual 'gastronimical' restaurant where the bar used to be?). And when they brought it over, it wasn't our server, but a couple of young girls, one with two, one carrying one, saying "Ok I got two soufflés here...?" "And I got one" - um, well, we ordered four, and the only thing missing is them smacking gum and jutting out their hips while they stared at us to instruct who was getting the soufflé. Then the fourth one came out and they realized, and tossed them down in front of us. And they were dry. Oh, and for the birthday boys? No, no. No candle, no nice complimentary dessert... cards. From the staff. Really? That's about the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I'm sure the staff are very nice people, but they don't know us. What a waste of paper and effort. Just dumb. And while they may be nice people, their level of service is just not what we (used to) expect from a place like The Five Crowns. The only warm, friendly greeting we got was from Tommy, the long lasting sommalier... wonder how long he will stay. Alas, we'll probably never know, unless we see him at another restaurant. We won't be back. Time to find another restaurant and start a new tradition for birthdays and Christmas. What a bummer. read more

I hadn't been to Five Crowns for a while , but wanted to check it out since I heard they had a new chef. Well, I was very disappointed. Where do I begin? My daughter ordered lemonade and it was carbonated so she didn't like it and didn't drink it. When we told our server he didn't offer to bring her another drink and we were still charged for the lemonade. When our entrees arrived the disappointment continued. My prime rib was quite small and had very little flavor. My husband's sea bass was the smallest piece of fish he had ever been served(about 3 oz. of fish once the skin was removed) and the accompaniments were meager, at best. My daughter ordered the crispy brick chicken which looked more like half a quail instead of the half a chicken as stated by our server. Next came dessert....obviously they don't have a pastry chef on site. I ordered the creme brûlée (New England style). That and bread pudding were my only options since I was eating off the Newport Beach Restaurant Week pre-fixe menu. When the dessert was served to me it looked very unappetizing to begin with. There were three tubes of creme brûlée and what looked like maggots alongside the tubes. When I told our server I did not like the appearance of the dessert he told me to try it and then disappeared. Well, I tried it, and the taste and texture left much to be desired. The creme was grainy, not smooth and creamy, and it was tasteless. Once again, he made no offer to replace it. When the bill came it was $146.00 plus tip. I have paid much less for much more at other establishments so, needless to say, I will not be returning to Five Crowns. read more

Had a reservation for 7:15pm tonight. Arrived at 10 til 7 so we could have a drink in the bar. Got basically ignored by the male and female bartenders and we were sitting belly-up to the bar. They'd rather wash a glass than take our drink order. When we did get served our drinks it was with great attitude as though we were bothering them. Terrible service at the bar. Got our table on time but service was very slow. Took us 1 1/2 hours to finally have our meals in front of us. Served a soup on the house that was not particularly that good as an apology. I didn't order soup....... I don't know what happened here. We have been here before and was it much better then. As it stands now, for the price especially, I doubt we will ever go back. Just a shameful effort from a once fine establishment. They should be embarrassed (and also fire the Bartenders). The bartenders were just pathetic. read more

finally had the chance to make it to five crowns!! for weeks, i have made reservations only to cancel them. five crowns is part of the lawry's restaurant chain. i had rewards certificates that needed to be used by the end of the month. five crowns restaurant is quite big with an upstairs area too (which i didn't go to see). it was surprising to me that it was quite loud in there since the dim lighting gives the impression of a date/romantic evening. customers are mostly older american folks; felt quite young there. =) it's supposed to be business casual or dressier but some people looked a bit sloppy to me. maybe i needed to look the other way to ignore their bad taste in clothing. bread - hot fresh out of the oven! two kinds, a sourdough baguette and a round dark brown bread that tasted like licorice. the texture was chewy in the middle with a nice crust on the outside. loved the sourdough baguette; the other one, not so much.. they were served with unsalted butter and a coarse sea salt. i loved the sea salt which was odd since i don't like sodium usually...hehe. manhattan cocktail - was just right. =) mary alice pride salad - mixed greens, pistachios,big croutons, crisp pieces of bacon in a light dressing. they split the salad which made it quite small. enjoyable all the same. california cut prime rib of beef - came with two sides (creamed spinach, creamed corn, mashed potatoes). i tried each, they were all pleasing. the prime rib was a perfect medium rare. they give you whipped horseradish. you can request straight horseradish -- that stuff is strong...whew!! ..in a good way of course. yorkshire pudding was great also. in terms of portion size, i felt that five crowns had smaller portions which we welcomed. the reason why we don't go to have prime rib more often is because i dread the "feeling sooo full that i'm not enjoying the food as much" aftermath. prime rib is easily the one (or two) meal i would choose as my favorite meal of all time. I LOVE LOVE LOVE PRIME RIB!!! glad i finally got to dine here. i foresee coming back to try side bar, the gastropub, since i still have more VIP rewards to use. heheh. btw you guys, the lawry's rewards program is great!! if you like their restaurants and want to accrue points for money rewards, i would recommend it. we practically only paid tip this time since we used a bday coupon and other rewards. would love to try other items on the menu. heard that the chef actually puts prime rib of beef at the very bottom of the menu since he wants you to order the appetizers and other entrees. he also came up with the gastropub menu for side bar. read more

Went there for the first time. I know it's been around forever but just never tracked down there form North OC. So glad we went for my husbands birthday. First off if u are a Newbie they offer you a free glass of champagne in an old timey glass. You got my attention! A wonderful man opened up the wine we brought. He probably was an original hire. Cute old guy that was very personable. Added to the experience. The Cosmopolitan was delish. Very strong Long Island and the martini was great, lacking blue cheese olives which is a surprise. Party of 4 and we ordered a good variety. Started with the beignets. Not my favorite but my pallet sucks. Everyone else enjoyed it. The two men got the prime rib, very happy and the two ladies got the filet. It was great, prepared perfectly but could have used a little more sear. Don't get me wrong I ate very last bite and did absolutely enjoy it. The Mac and cheese is a must! Anything with Duck Fat I order, but the potatoes were nothing special. We each got a different dessert and I think I was the winner with the sundae. Actual whole peanuts on top, soo good. The very best part of the entire experience was our server Vickie. We started teasing and joking around with her immediately. She fell right into our banter. Her service was on point! Her spirit was great and we will absolutely request her station when we come back. I think when you don't HAVE TO have the job, you actually are a much better server. Vickie is amazing, made our experience superb! read more

We haven't been here for years. It used to be the place for my annual birthday dinner, so we decided to give it another try after its recent remodel. After trying it last night, I'm not sure I can live long enough to ever go back. First of all, they put our party upstairs where the ambiance is poor. Bright lights and wobbly tables. The server was so intent in explaining the "new" menu that he forgot to pour our wine and pay attention to what we needed. The signature prime rib was "average" compared to what it used to be. All in all, there wasn't much here to make it a memorable evening - at least in a good way. read more

The hubby and I went to Five Crowns for our anniversary and I have to say, it was really impressive. The seating is a bit cramped but the service was immaculate! Every time I took a sip of tea, my glass was refilled. The food was mouth watering (is that a word) good and the creme brulee was to die for! We had such a nice time as someone who looked like a wench waited on our every whim. I did overhear (as did everyone) a dower ol lady state, about the couple next to us, that she "couldn't believe that someone would actually bring noisy children to a place like this!" The couple and their kids left shortly after that. I have to say, kids may be cute (if they are yours) but I don't enjoy a noisy one during my dining out experience either....but I have never gone as far as this ol fart and actually stated it out loud. read more

This review may only be helpful to longtime, pre-renovation (decor and menu) Five Crowns fans. You'll find plenty of glowing reviews here to provide a counterweight to this one. At present there is a restaurant at 3801 PCH in CDM which appears to be the "Five Crowns". But if you've been happily dining repeatedly at that address for decades for a variety of reasons (distinctive menu, real china and silver, background music suited to the restaurant theme and decor, complimentary birthday desserts [according to other reviews here], etc.), I'm sorry to report that, sadly, THAT particular Five Crowns is no longer there. To the best of my knowledge, there is nothing in civil or criminal law which would apply to a now-only-passable restaurant impersonating its former-and-consistently-great namesake. But make no mistake, that's the case ... and it's a crime! read more

My husband had a work associate suggest this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. There are several things that spoiled my special evening,but I won't go over all of them. I really was disappointed with the prime rib. It was barely warm although I asked for medium. The sides were dull. The soufflé was more like a molten lava cake in a fancy dish. Went to the "Five Crowns" tonight. I used to be a regular (once a week) at this high end Corona Del Mar (Lowery's owned) prime rib eatery. Since moving to Florida it's been a few years and I looked forward to the best prime rib experience (as I remembered it). The place is still quaint and has the same lovely English pub atmosphere. We of course ordered the "Prime Rib". My wife had the more done "end cut" and I ordered a bone in "Henry The Eighth" cut medium rare +. Hers came out very "well" done which is not totally necessary but was ok with her and mine came out med-well so I immediately let the server know it looked overdone. I was told that the location of my seating made meat look more done than it really was (what?), but they took it back and brought another which looked exactly the same. I tasted the meat and it was very good but still a bit overdone for me, however I was done complaining and started eating. The waitress asked us how things were going and I honestly told her that it was just a bit more done than I requested. I even asked her to look for herself and she brought over a manager who told me (again) it was the location of my seat? I was a bit in disbelief because I frequent restaurants like Peter Lugers, Ruth's Chris, Maestro, Berns in Tampa, the Golden Steer in Las Vegas, and Manny's in Minneapolis, all of which are high end beef houses and most very high on the "best of" lists. I know about the temperatures of beef. The manager however went into the kitchen and brought out another, smaller piece if beef that was cooked correctly (med-rare) and proceeded to tell me it was "Rare". I was almost full at this point, and certainly not looking for a fight, so I let him switch plates and I said nothing. The Prime Rib at the Five Crowns, notwithstanding the temperature issues is quite good. I feel it's a bit overpriced at $47, and had it been done correctly the first time I might not even have mentioned it, but in a restaurant of this caliber you don't expect to have temperature issues. After all, it's not a steak that's charred on the outside, it's " Prime Rib". The creamed spinach is still great although I don't remember them always putting bacon in it? I couldn't get a standard domestic light beer because they obviously fancy themselves above a Bud, Miller, or Coors Light, but herein lies my slight issue. If you can't get the temperature of your beef correct when a customer orders med-rare, and your going to tell him it's the light in the room making the beef look too well done (while the sun is still up at 6pm on daylight savings time), you shouldn't get so high on yourself to not carry good old American beer as an option. Your just not good enough to be snooty. This restaurant is realistically just a bit off where it was years ago, but still, for prime rib, worth giving it a try. They of course have tried to diversify from the beef image but I don't know why? It's what they do best, even if it's a tick off the old days and you can't get a domestic beer? read more

Our waitress didn't come take our appetizer order until 30min after we sat down and by then we had no choice but to fill up on bread. The chicken entree was served to me raw TWICE and finally I was served salmon that was cooked correctly. By then we just wanted to get out of the restaurant. Of the Dine Newport Week establishments I visited this year, this was the shining star by far in comparison. Ordered one price fixe menu and ala carte based on the recommendation from Ms. Miller, the first time I have ever heard of such a formal title for the server, or maybe I just dine at divey joints for the most part, or I am just easily amused. Ms Miller was truly awesome, with a great smile and she anticiapted all of our needs and made sure everything was perfect within her control. So we started with french onion soup and the english garden salad, both excellent, followed by a slab of prime rib with a delicate creamed horseradish (I like the straight stuff better, but it was adequate) cooked to a perfect meduim rare, which was by far the most tender prime rib I have had to date (though people have told me their parent company restaurant Lawry's is carved table side and is even better), and the ribeye was also excellent....both were cooked perfectly...sides were better than avg, with nicely flavored garlic mashers, creamed corn n spinach....I didn't really think the onion ring garnish added much to the ribeye...is that for crunch factor?? leave my food un crunchy then please. I hate it when the add crunch to a dish that actually worsens the flavor in the process...that didn't happen necessarily here as the rings weren't horrible by any means, it's just a stupid unnecessary component of fine dining, just gimme something that tastes good..I could care less about texture or it looking pretty. The desserts were probably the weakest part of the entire meal for me, or maybe the steaks were so good, the desserts were just overkill at that point, and they also comped some tia maria coffee beverages as it was our first visit to 5 crowns, so make sure if you mention that little fact.......and of course it will be your very first time every time you go. Still very solid all the way around, I think I could go 4.5 stars. read more

My husband and I usually go to another restaurant for our anniversary but it was booked and we decided to mix it up a bit by going to Five Crowns because they had an open reservation. I almost gave this 3 stars, but opted for 2 because when you spend this much money on a meal, you expect the highest level of service. When the waitress first approached us, she told us she was "sooo busy" and made us feel as if we needed to rush. When she came to take our order, I was trying to decide between two items and instead of helping me decide, she said "should I come back?".. We were kind of cramped in a small two person table. The food was pretty good, but overall the experience was sub par compared to Ruth's Chris where we usually go. So very sad with what they've done with 5 Crown. I have been going to 5 Crowns for over 12 years and would go, on average, 10 times a year. My wife and I cook a lot and this was one of the few places we really liked for dining out. Used to be excellent but no more. While the Prime Rib is still very good, the charm is gone, the soul of the place ripped out. The bar took a huge price increase with lesser products (no more Tanqueray but they do have New Amsterdam for $12 a glass???). The wine list used to be excellent and the wine stewards (most notably Tommy) were so very helpful; gone. Now you have the wait staff and bus boys to guide you through a wine list of mostly garbage. I understand they want to make a move into a more modern establishment that appeals to a broader age group - but I believe there is room for mature fine dining in Orange County. They've take a serious step down and I will not be returning. I did send the restaurant an e-mail with this same feedback and hope that, if they see their dining room returns decline, they might roll back and try to recapture what they've thrown away. read more

Overpriced, poor service, and the only redeeming quality was the Christmas carolers. My family has been enjoying meals at the Five Crowns for years. Tonight we had luke warm food at best, with a curt and condescending waitress, and paid wayyyyy to much for a mediocre culinary experience. read more

I came here for Restaurant Week since I've heard great things about Five Crowns. I ordered the Caesar Salad and Prime Rib. The salad was blah...just a regular salad, nothing special. The Prime Rib surprisingly had zero flavor at all. I was leaning towards ordering the Salmon but figured since it's a steak house, I should try something other than fish. My friend enjoyed the salmon, but I think both of us were disappointed with our meals. The service was impeccable and the warm bread was delicious, but the food itself was sub par. I'm not sure if this is just because the Restaurant Week menu is bad or this is how the food always is. read more

We had our wedding here and Alison and all of the staff at Five Crowns were truely awesome. They are organized, professional, and friendly. All of our guests could not stop telling us how amazing the food was. They are very reasonably priced for the area and all that you are able to get and the venue is truely beautiful and unique. If you are looking for great food, a great experience and a beautiful venue that is not the same old ballroom I highly recommend Five Crowns. P.S. If you sign up for their rewards before your wedding you end up with hundreds of points to use towards dining at any Lawry's location. Which is a nice little bonus. read more

I've been here so many times and have always enjoyed it, but I am disappointed in some of the recent changes. First of all, the servers no longer wear those great costumes and the ambiance is not as cozy and traditional English as it used to be. The menu has changed as well. I would come again, but only during Christmas time to hear the carolers. I miss the "old" Five Crowns. It had more character and was more original. read more

Delicious spot with quality food--I was recently here for a private dinner. They set up a very nice, elegant room in their upstairs. The service was excellent and the food was wonderful! I tried their Caesar salad--tasty leaves with a parmesan and these unique roasted tomatoes which were the perfect final touch. My entree was the halibut--delicate, flakey, truly melts in your mouth--with white asparagus. For dessert, the lemon cake with berries was magnificent. Our family of six went to Five Crowns for Thanksgiving Dinner. We made reservations on the first day that we could, thinking that they would book up quickly. However, I noticed that during our dinner (12:30 pm reservation), only half of the restaurant was filled - this was definitely a red flag! Service: Excellent Food: Expensive, but this is to be expected. Lobster Bisque: Good Prime Rib: Good Filet Mignon: Two thumbs down from one of the members of our party. Turkey Dinner: Turkey came in bite-sized pieces (white and dark) that included some inedible parts (what is up with that?). NO SLICES OF TURKEY that you would get at home or even Mimi's Cafe!! Kind of reminded me of Turkey Stew.... Sides were awful.....boxed stuffing would have tasted better. Mashed potatoes were just plain odd.... We dined here about 5-6 years ago for Thanksgiving and it was awesome so that is why we came here this year. I know we will not be back again. This makes me sad because I love Five Crowns - I had my wedding reception here 20 years ago!!! read more

Went here for a dinner with my husband. It was a lovely ambiance in an English-style pub. The hand-crafted cocktails were unique and delicious. The food was excellent and the service was superb. I'd check it out again in a heartbeat! read more
