I want to desperately love Five Guys. God knows, I've given them so many chances and so much of my money. But, I've never had a perfect meal at Five Guys and for how much I'm paying-- that really is just unacceptable. Especially at this location, my complaints are as follows: - Burgers are wrapped in that foil wrapper that causes the buns to get all soggy and wet and just plain nasty to handle. A burger should be able to be held in one's hand, not falling apart. What's the point of the hamburger bun if you have to use the wrapper to eat the darn thing? - Fries are so inconsistent. Sometimes the seasoning they use doesn't get on all the fries. This results in some fries being over-seasoned and some fries being un-seasoned. Quite frankly, I'd rather they just not salt the fries and just leave me to the Heinze ketchup. - Stingy as fvck with some ingredients. If I want BBQ sauce, I want A LOT. Not a tiny bit. I didn't realize that I was paying by the microlitre! - Burgers are just so dry and tasteless. I don't know what kind of beef they use, but why can't they just SEASON THEIR BEEF BEFORE THEY COOK!!!! Is that really too much to ask? And, then they grill the sh!t out of their beef. - I'm paying at least $7 everytime I come here, and afterwards, I keep asking myself why I keep coming back. Dear Five Guys, you're about to price yourself out of the market you're supposed to be catering to. $27 for two burgers, a single order of large fries, and vanilla shake !?!? I could have gone down the block to a sit down restaurant for less. The burgers are good...for fast food burgers, but not good enough to compel me keep coming back at those prices. The service is slowish because each burger is individually made, which is to be expected. The free peanuts are a neat ploy to keep customers busy while they wait and the fancy Coke machine is fun, too. However, my bet is that if prices don't get more reasonable, then we'll be saying bye bye Five Guys. Please listen to your customer base. We can't afford your prices and you can't afford to lose us. read more

Update: After my original review below, I was contacted through Yelp by a Five Guys marketing person (Kenneth) and was asked to contact someone as they wanted to make things better. So I emailed the individual (Nate) and never heard anything back. I was almost impressed that someone at Five Guys noticed the review and seemed interested, but then I realized that wasn't entirely the case. Oh well. Went in today after the renovation. Place looks nice and seems like they are still working out the kinks. I think one of the Five Guys sons was there helping get things in order. However, the visit started off on the wrong foot. A thing with this place is that the regular burgers are actually doubles. We all know that and newbies will learn. I was really put off when the cashier was determined to get me to order a double bacon cheeseburger. She wanted to hear the word double come out of my mouth. No where on the menu is double bacon cheeseburger. There is bacon cheeseburger and little bacon cheeseburger. The ignorance is going to turn off long time loyal customers. Also, the fries had enough salt to kill an entire nation of slugs. Really, like others have said, chill on the salt. read more

While my husband loves Five Guys and has for decades, I found their hamburgers to be overcooked and without much flavor. The bun was soggy. The fries were also soggy and seemed completely unseasoned. Nothing impressive at all in my opinion. In all fairness, I'll mention that my husband completely disagrees with me. read more

Love five guys. This is the only place I will eat a cheeseburger. The fries are yummy and my whole family can share a regular. It is a little expensive so we only go every once in a while. We love the drink machines. Would love it if they have a kids night for free or discounted prices for kids. Maybe just for the grilled cheese or something. read more

Ok......the unlimited peanuts are a nice touch as well as the cool soda machine. But the customer service is some straight ish! The cashier was rude and seemed generally unhappy to be there. Also, I hate that there's no kid's menu. Even with all of the condiments...my burger was bland as hell. Five Guys needs to quit fakin and add a dash of Lawry's to the meat before they cook it. Geez...is a bit of salt and pepper (or even some cumin) out of the question? I didn't mind the soggy bun but the bun shouldn't taste better than the meat. I've stopped in this 5 guys on a few occasions when I've been out on route 1 and wanted a good burger for dinner or lunch. Between this location, and the Old Town location, I've run in to a ton of consistancies. The burgers here taste fresh, they're well done, and there is the traiditonal fry choices as well. This was the first Five guys I ran in to that had the Coke machine where you can mix and match your own style of drink. This 5 guys makes burgers as consistant as you'd expect with any other 5 guys, it's a little smaller in location, but for a burger joint, it is serving up exactly what you wnt. read more

I've been on the east coast for three months now and nearly every week my bf and I keep saying we need to try five guys. Yesterday, on our drive down to Mount Vernon we decided to finally give it a try. I accidentally ordered a regular hamburger instead of a little hamburger so I ended up with a burger with two meat patties, which is a bit much for me (my boyfriend happily finished it off). I liked that you could specify which toppings you want (and they actually can get it right) and that they had some unique toppings like jalapenos (not pickled btw!). We also shared an order of fries which came in a HUGE bag. We thought everything was really good and it's obviously better than other fast food joints, but it's not something you'd drive out of your way to get. Be careful when you pull into their lot, it needs to be repaved and I saw lots of scrape marks where cars tried to brave some of the holes. read more

If you are craving a juicy, well cooked burger that drips down your hands as you eat it, this is the place to be. Mind you - the burger itself could count for your entire daily caloric intake. Just sayin'. My hubs usually gets the (regular size with 2 patties) cheeseburger and I get the little hamburger, which has 1 patty. I am usually bursting at the seams after I finish eating. Also, you have your choice of several toppings and when it's your turn to order, you better be ready to spit out your topping selections like your life depends on it. Or you might be an annoyed look by the employee taking your order. Tick tock, tick tock. The regular portion of fries is enough to share between 2 people. We have also tried the cajun fries but I admit I was a little disappointed. It just tasted like they dumped a bunch of cajun spices on the fries and didn't really toss them - i.e. some fries were covered in cajun spices and others were completely bland. read more

The first time I tried Five Guys was in April of this year and I was blown away by how amazing their burgers were. I'm not that big a fan of burgers because every time I get one it's a huge patty and dry. Five Guys has amazingly fresh ingredients and it's for sure worth the price. This location was our to go to place because the food and staff are amazing until today after I order a burger with extra cheese and it didn't come with any cheese. I kindly took it back up to the pickup station and told them the mistake the guy argue with me saying I didn't order it with cheese and one of the worker told him yeah she did well after arguing with him for a couple minutes he just threw cheese on my bun and as I walked away he yelled to the other workers "You didn't order it with cheese. Just eat it!!!" He didn't think my fiance and I would hear but we did. This was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. Our receipt clearly shows extra cheese ordered on the burger. After this experience, I don't think we will be coming back to this Five Guy's. Received a lovely phone call from management who address the issue so due to her kindness we feel better about everything. read more

I was never really been happy with this Five Guys because of the people that was working there at the time had know problems helping people of there own race however when I and other people that I know of came into this Five guys they was over looked and the employees service others instead. This location is clean, staff is friendly, and service is as prompt as it can be when each burger is cooked fresh to order. Five Guys subscribes to the concept that once beef comes in contact with the air it needs to be cooked - this all burgers are cooked until they are well done. Juicy on the inside, and seared to a light caramelization on the outside. Lettuce, tomato's, and onions are fresh. French fries are thicker cut than MacD's and gently crisp on the outside and firm yet tender on the inside. A drink, shake, two hamburgers, and a regular sized Cajun fries came to $29. Even with it being on the pricy side for burgers, the quality and price are matched in my opinion. wow, what is with all the hatorade , people? i love , love, LOVE , five guys. i come from the north where , until recently, they did have this chain. up until i came here my fav was the beloved whopper(which i still love!) but now 5 guys is much tastier! i love the way you can customize the burger is so many ways. the meat is very tasty. ive tried so many burger places in DMV and even In and Out, not one is as yummy and satisfying as 5 guys here. the fries are also ALOT. i usually eat them for four days as leftvoers. plus i have a thing for cold fries ;) the other thing i like about this location is that its close to the shoppers so i can pick up a boylans soda before and grab the meal here and the ambience? yeah i dig, they play old school music. its clean, spacious, the counter staff have always been super nice. never had a problem. and free peanuts??! which are nicely salted and roasted, so so good the parking is easy and free, thank goodness and someone complained about raw jalapenos. i honestly thought the same thing until i tried , that , and my other slew of fav toppings, makes for a most tasty burger. 100percent recommended! read more

A while ago I wrote a 3 star review for Five Guys. I've never been more wrong! This place deserves 5 stars and nothing less. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. It was so good I came back a few days later and ordered another one. I hope I won't be back because my arteries can't take too much of this. But my stomach enjoys the party. One, the meat is the bomb! Juicy with nice flavor. The bun is soft, but not too soft where it starts to fall apart. The unlimited toppings are fresh and add a nice kick. First time back since they reopened and i have to say its a big disappointment. Ok first the space is a big improvement over the previous space . Its more open and brightly lit. A much more inviting space. You can also watch your burgers being prepared. The service was excellent and professional . All the employees were well groomed , clean and seemed to be enjoying their work. But alas the burger was a let down. While it was a juicy burger they seemed to have changed the bun going with a bigger bun and made the burgers thinner and wider . And the meat needs some seasoning . That was the big problem , that the meat was bland. Ive never experienced that before at a Five Guys whether it be this one before they remodeled or any other one. Hopefully they will fix the seasoning problem as I do like the new building and will be back to see if they inprove . read more

Fries are prepared by the cup full then bagged, as if not enough, they pile more on top with the bag to catch all the spillings--moist, fresh and salty..killer fries-Large size is big enough for 2. I've yet to try the dogs or sandwiches, but if they put the same effort as they do in their burgers, i can assure you their probably good. Reg Cheeseburger-$5.39--Little Cheeseburger-$4.19--Large Fries-$4.59, ill stop there to give you an idea. Atmosphere- 5**A very clean and uniformed environment complimented by boxes of 'free peanuts' near the cashier counter. Magazine/Newsprint articles praising the restaurant adorn the walls in the dining area. A bulletin board hangs near the soda machine with available pens and notes for compliments to be pinned. Service/Location- 4**Right off Rt.1, you cant miss it. Situated next to a Mickey D's, whos only advantage over 5Guys is a drive-thru (Sitting inside, you laugh at those dining at the "Golden Arches"--in the drive-thru you wish you were at 5Guys). This is one of the restaurants I miss the most from VA. The burgers are made fresh to order. Never frozen. You can put just about any topping you want on this burger and you could never go wrong. The little burgers are huge and the regular are just wow. There is even a bacon burger / cheeseburger option in which the bacon is nice and crispy and reallly compliments the burger as well. I am just drooling thinking about it. The fries are also really, really good as again, they are made fresh to order. This is one place to go if you want a nice a burger that is made the way you like it, where the fries are good, and where you know that you will not walk away hungry. Bustling and ballsy is how I would describe this Five Guys. Bustling refers to the whole area along this newly booming area... and ballsy for placing this Five Guys right next McDonalds. This Five Guys has many tables and is begging to be turned into a drive-thru (better to compete with McDonalds). WHOO! 5 guys burgers and fries was an amazing experience. The service was quick and friendly and the portions, HUGE. We ordered a large fries but when they served it, it seemed like 2 orders instead! The people who work there are great! They are very efficient and friendly. The burgers are enormous! The toppings are fresh and good. The fries are incomparable and thick. I will order something other than a milk shake next time, though. There was no discernable chocolate taste, and the topping didn't taste like real whipped cream. The bathroom is clean. The place just re-opened after renovation and it looks great. I think it feels more open. I actually watch them make my custom burger in front of me. I say custom because you can pick from 15 different toppings for free. Like all Five Guy places, you can eat free in shell peanuts while you wait. I would have given them a five star rating, but the fries were really salty. We had to throw most of it away.
