Oh my, I'm not sure what's going on, but we ordered online, and came in even later than they said order would be ready. I spoke to a guy, who had some lady yelling at him for some random reason, and he said he had been waiting over an hour for his order to be ready. I soon realized that I had walked into a mod of hangry people who wanted their food. The usual food delivery drivers were being complete jerks. The "fry guy" was moving at a snails pace. They had burgers spread out all on the table, and seemed completely unorganized. It honestly looked like the scene when I cook after have a few too many drinks. I kept my cool, and talked to "fry guy", he went over to see where my ticket was, got side tracked half way there and never came back--uh, ok. So, I asked the lady working, who by the way was completely friendly and level headed, which is hard to do when you're buried in tickets. She found my order deep in the stack, I choice to cancel my order, and give them one less thing to do. First time ordering a burger here today. The customer service was excellent! Gentlemen with a bun walked me through the menu as it was my first time. I love a good burger and have my two fave fast food burgers. I was not impressed at all. Yeah it's nice to hear the burger sizzle and pick your toppings BUT the end result is just ok. Feeling hungry after work and not wanting leftovers, my sister and I headed to 5 Guys. This location is closest however can be hit or miss the last couple times as they have gotten our order wrong. 7:30p on a Monday and no line which was great and lots of Uber Eats orders ahead of us. With three burgers and two orders of fries, it took 15 minutes for our food to come out and seven employees working behind the counter. They each had their stations to work on and things went smoothly until they forgot a side order of sauce. Not a big deal and feasting on the burgers, they were delicious. We had several burgers, hot dogs, and tons of fries. (If you've never eaten at Five Guys, they practically pour fries all over the inside of your bag.) This location is in a fairly busy plaza with somewhat limited parking. The restaurant is wide open and bright though--great for groups. On a moderately busy afternoon, we weren't greeted when we came in, nor thanked as we left. (Eat at several Five Guys, and you'll know why that this is out of the ordinary.) We haven't been to 5 Guys in about three years. I wanted a burger really badly so we decided to give them one more try. It became a case of what we ordered and what we got. I ordered two single burgers with cheese and bacon, my wife's without onions. What we got were double burgers with cheese and bacon, my wife's didn't have onions. Close but no cigar. I ordered two shakes, one strawberry and one chocolate. What I got was a chocolate strawberry shake. Chocolate soft serve with strawberry added. Creative but not what I ordered. What was worse was the kid who took my order chose to argue with me telling me that was what I ordered. The manager who also argued with me about what I had ordered finally agreed to make two shakes. I stood at the pick up counter and waited for my shakes. And waited. And waited. I finally asked in a loud voice if someone could please make my shakes before my order got stone cold. Suddenly, my arguing friend made my shakes. Of course I had to ask for a drink holder. I thought I had talked to the manager about the shake order. This restaurant's business model is that you make your own burger by literally building a burger and you choosing every topping you want. Some people like that, some don't. Personally, I don't. The fries and any drink is added on separately with additional cost. By the time you add in the burger, fries, and drink it adds up! The seating area is plain and very "fast food" like. If you are looking for a good ambiance, this is not the place. At this location the restroom was very dirty and the one who took my order didn't even attempt to crack a smile. I think she just works there for the paycheck at the end of the week and that's it. On a positive note, the food came fairly quickly. Woukd I go there again? I've never projectile vomited before in my life-until I ate here. I ordered a cheeseburger with onions and fours hours later was gripping the porcelain throne and cursing. A former employee told me that when they clean they use straight up bleach and just kind of throw it everywhere. If that's the case-you need a better cleaning routine or school your employees on how to handle that stuff. read more

I heard a lot of hype about Five Guys. I had high expectations. I should have known going into this that I wouldn't come out on the other side as excited as I wanted to be. First, the burger. I ordered it and it came out and I had no idea it was a double patty burger by default. Not that I'm afraid of a nice big double but I just wasn't expecting it and wasn't warned in advance that I better be nice and hungry. Anyway, the bun was a soggy mess. I don't mind some grease on a burger, in fact, some grease is expected and welcome, but this was like a wet mop with my burger(s) and fixins' mashed in the middle. The flavor was decent but I wasn't wow'd and maybe that's in part due to the abundance of grease the bun had soaked up (you know, disappointed at first sight). The fries. Holy crap, a ton of fries. I had no idea how large a large was. My big mistake was I got food for the family and being accustomed to a usual large fry size I ordered 3 large fries. I'm feeding a family of 6 so I tend to go big but daaaaaamn. I had so many fries that the dog got her own paper sack of them when we were done. They were good but just way too much. So, it wasn't a horrible experience but for the price I could get a better burger elsewhere. Would I eat here again? Thought I'd have 5 Guys tonight, it's usually a good bet. I found their Ap on line and thought I would save time and give it a try. I like being able to order at my leisure and see all of the options. Well, I'm a a bit disappointed. When I arrived they all chimed in "John's Here!" and then started the fries (the Ap says they'll cook the fries once you arrive). The cook dropped the fries, then instructed a tall kid to remove the grease filters above the fryer - seemed a little odd. I mentioned that stuff had fallen into the fryer, he said it was ok. In the mean time another employee put fries that had been sitting in the bin into the bag with my burgers. Someone else set my shake on the counter. Finally a woman in a white shirt came out and they started to remake the fries and clean the grease. She dumped the old fries out of the bag and I waited for fresh fries. By the time I left with a wilted shake and cold burgers I wished I'd have waited to order in person. The woman (who seemed to be the manager) did offer to remake the shake, but I'd already been there too long. It's surprising after the Chipolte problems that little actual care to food safety was observed by the line folks. At least the kitchen is in view, and really, they've done well in the past. The last time I was in my order took forever, they were out of hamburger buns, put my burger in a hotdog bun and left half of the toppings off. If this was the only gaffe, I would be willing to try them again, but this was the last straw. The employees seem to be poorly trained, leadership non-existent, and a poor attitude. Worst Five Guys I have ever been to. This location is slow it took over 40 minutes to get my take out order which was only a burger and fries. The staff looked like they weren't trained at all. Food orders were just sitting out while customers waited. The staff cooking looked like they were confused the whole time. The manager would just walk by and say good job yet nothing was getting done. I watched 3 other customers ask for their money back. The facility was dirty with trash everywhere. Counter tops were cluttered with waste. Bathroom was filthy. I was patient and waited for my food which ended up being soggy and disgusting. Understaffed and overwhelmed lately. I've worked food service when being short staffed so I can definitely sympathize with the line cooks. The last three times I've been in have been progressively longer waits even during non-peak times. Had come to expect 30 minutes but today was 55 minutes from the confirmation email to getting handed my bag. The employees were doing what they could but with 2 people and what looked like dozens of orders in queue, not sure what more they could do than stop taking additional orders from people coming in. Staff were apologetic and refunded those who asked. Hire more staff, and if you can't get decent applicants, let your managers pay more. Franchise/corporate, this is on you, not the employees. The online ordering system, I'm sure purchased by corporate without any thought of the workflow, tells me the same "Your order will be ready 5 minutes from when you placed it" line and it has never been accurate. Either make it actually sync to the POS at stores or just remove it. I'd still be shocked but much less annoyed if it actually told me a realistic wait time for the number of orders. I would not be surprised if it has some manual override at the store that no staff member is going to actually update if they are completely slammed on the line. Similarly, your Flybuy text message that comes after you order? The one you want us to click on and say that we're at the store? Scrap it and save your branches some money on that SaaS and whatever consultant recommended it because "X% of millenials and Gen Z love texting." No employees check the tablet anyways so you still have to come up and give your name. It just smells like massive disconnect between C-Suite and actual store workflows. read more
