    Cheese dog with grilled onions.
    Lila M.

Yesterday, on February 1st, I went to Five Guys with my friend for dinner at 7 pm. I ordered the cheese dog and added grilled onions and my friend got the same and we shared a large fry. The service was very quick we didn't wait for more than five minutes and there was not a line. It looked very clean inside the restaurant, we decided to sit inside because it has been starting to get cold in Birmingham and it was slightly rainy. Also, I noticed there was not any COVID-19 protocols/precautions practiced or available inside Five Guys nor were any employees wearing any masks. I rate Five Guys (in the Brookwood Village location) a 4/5 stars due to workers forgetting to bring my fries and then getting my order wrong. Overall, I had a great experience and would come back, especially because this was my first time getting a hotdog at Five Guys.

This location was open and practicing social distancing. I got a little bacon cheeseburger and shared a regular fry with my daughter which was more than enough food to eat for us. The food of course was hot and fresh. I definitely recommend this location over and over again.

I absolutely love this place! They have the best fresh made to order burgers! I wish they would come up with combo meals because everything is ala carte. I ordered the cheeseburger, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayo... I added my own bacon. The burger came with 2 patties and I must say this burger is big and it defeated me. I was only able to eat half. I ordered fries too. 3 people could split a small order of fries.. We ordered our food to go and it was still hot when we got home. 2 thumbs up Five Guys!!

Hamburger and a load of Cajun fries!

My first time at Five Guys and I loved it!! The service was wonderful and my food was perfect. I ordered a hamburger with Cajun fries - OMG! I had to rip open the bag because my burger was covered in hot fresh French fries and when I pulled out the hamburger it was steamy too! Everything is made on the spot to be hot and delicious. I thought it was pretty pricey but it's worth it for the amount of food. My burger was made exactly as I wanted it and I guess they use Tony's to season the fries but it was all great. I'll be coming back soon!

I've always been on the fence with this place. I mean, it's a great, made to order, albeit greasy burger with the freshest ingredients and only the extras that you ask for. Cool beans, right? That's where the good points end. I don't mind paying a little extra for good food. That's good food AND the right ambience. I spent nearly $15 on a cheeseburger, regular fry and large drink. I can't really call it fast food since I waited nearly 10-15 minutes for my order to come out in a greasy brown paper bag. But I certainly don't call it upscale either. That's what I think of when I pay $15 for a simple burger meal. For that amount there has to be something a little extra, something a little bit more special, something a bit more memorable- not just with the food, but where I'm eating the food at as well. The food gets 4/5 stars, but I took away one because of the ambience of the place, or rather the lack of. Summary: good, made to order food that's not for those on a budget and not for those who want a certain ambience to go with those hand-cut fries.

Not what I expected at all... The fries were burned and the burger was just meh. It is unlikely that I'll ever go back.

I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with Ketchup, mayo, jalapeños and tomatoes for delivery. I received a cheese burger with onions and mushrooms and lettuce and soggy bread. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The guy working the front counter was great help he was really good at talking up everything on the menu. Because when I walked in and asked the very nice guy at the register what their best item was, he didn't hesitate for even half a second. "Fried chicken club sandwich. Hands down." Not "one of our burgers." Not "depends what you like." Nope. Immediate confidence. The kind of confidence that makes you trust a stranger with your financial future. So naturally I ordered exactly that. He even doubled down and told me it was the best sandwich he's ever had. Ever. That's a dangerous level of hype to put on a chicken sandwich. At that point I wasn't ordering lunch anymore. I was preparing for a spiritual experience. I got the sweet potato fries on the side and sat there waiting like a kid staring at the oven on Christmas morning. Then the sandwich arrived. And honestly? Visually, this thing deserved its own entrance music. Beautiful sandwich. Crispy golden chicken, stacked perfectly, looked like it had been assembled by a food stylist with relationship issues. I took the first bite and immediately realized what was wrong. Flavor had called in sick. The chicken itself was cooked perfectly. Great crunch. Juicy inside. Beautiful breading. But somehow nobody introduced it to salt, pepper, seasoning, spices, or joy. It tasted like the kitchen spent all their energy making it look incredible and forgot the whole "taste" portion of the assignment. My colleague ordered the exact same thing and had the exact same reaction, which honestly made me feel better because for a second I thought COVID had made a surprise comeback. The sandwich was one shake of Cajun seasoning away from greatness. The sweet potato fries were solid flavor-wise, but a little limp. Not tragic. Just lacking that crispness that makes you keep stealing fries after you're already full. This place feels like a really good concept that just needs somebody in the kitchen to become emotionally invested in seasoning. Three stars feels fair. Nothing was bad. Nothing offended me. It was just aggressively average after being introduced with Super Bowl-level hype. I'd come back, but next time I'm ordering an actual burger at the place called Baja Burger. Feels like that's probably the safer bet.

We had been saying we were gonna try it, but wasn't sure about it. I'm angry at myself for not going for this SOONER. I had the Joyland burger with fries, wifey had the egg, cheese, and bacon syrup infused biscuit with the chicken on a stick (Dipstick) with hot honey sauce. Everything was absolutely amazing. There was no "dragging, greasy" feeling afterwards which is important to us -- everything was fresh. The dipstick was as tender and delicious as could be. The burger is one of the best in Birmingham, if not THE best I've had. And the ECB biscuit was a 5/5 as well. We will be back. Service was fantastic as well as the colorful theme inside.

Now is as good of time as any. I liked the bold, vivid colors of the decor. It made me smile. The staff were....not friendly but not stand offish either. Kinda in the middle. We both felt a weird vibe out of the place. Almost an uncomfortableness that's hard to describe. The guy who took our orders was helpful though as we asked questions about the menu. We both ordered the crustburgers and curly fries. The fries were good but the burger wasn't to our liking. It was very crispy and tasteless. I've had smash burgers before (that's really all this is) and they were just really thin burgers. These were unique in that they were really crunchy pieces of....something. I would not order this again on a return visit, if there is one. The price was around $40 for both of us, another letdown. I don't mind spending more for good food. But this place just didn't live up to the hype for me. However, try them for yourself. I've heard breakfast is a winner.

Parking is primarily street parking in the area, but there is also a public parking deck nearby. I'm unsure what the current cost is for the deck, but it's worth knowing if you're visiting during a busier time. I ordered the fish tacos with black beans and chose the cheese grits as my second side. Everything tasted fresh and had lots of flavor. The real star of the meal, though, was the sweet potato cake. It was incredibly moist and delicious. Honestly, I could've eaten four of them without shame or hesitation. My colleagues ordered burgers and fries. They both really enjoyed their burgers, but neither cared much for the fries. They had also requested a couple additional items after the food arrived, but those items never made it to the table. The decor is bright and fun, though it didn't quite seem to match the style of food being served. Just my personal observation. They also have a robot that helps deliver the food alongside the servers, which felt a little unexpected for the casual atmosphere and southern comfort food vibe. They were fairly busy since it was lunchtime on a Friday, but the wait really wasn't bad at all. Would I go back? Yes. Was it my absolute favorite? No. But there were definitely things I enjoyed, especially that sweet potato cake that nearly made me consider ordering dessert first next time.

We ordered the hot chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw, and both were packed with flavor. The slaw was light, crisp, and not overloaded with mayo, with just a slight peppery kick that made it incredibly tasty. The hot chicken sandwich itself wasn't overwhelmingly spicy, but it was finger-licking good -- juicy, well-seasoned, and satisfying down to the last crumb. We truly enjoyed every bite. The ambience with its bright green, purple and white colors added to the experience. The restaurant was lively and full of people, which is always a good sign. I also caught glimpses of other patrons' dishes, and everything coming out of the kitchen looked just as delicious as what we ordered. Service was friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. Staff members seemed genuinely happy to be there and kept things moving smoothly. The location is right in the heart of downtown Bhama, so parking is metered street parking, but the prices were reasonable and worth it for the quality and uniqueness of the food. Overall, this spot delivered on food, atmosphere, and service. Big thumbs up from me -- I'll definitely be back!

These are my favorite kind of places in the world. From the moment I walked up and saw the big piles of wood outside I knew I was probably going to like this place. We had an amazing meal here. Every single bite was good. I ate myself damn near sick! I cannot wait to come back!! The day we were there the bartender was waiting on the whole place himself with just someone helping him run food and clear tables. We only had an hour before we had to be at an appointment, so when we sat down at the bar I got concerned that we would not have time to eat here. He was busy. He seemed behind. Thank goodness I was wrong. Once he finally got to us we were decided on our meals. He took our order on his little handheld register thing, grabbed our tasty beverages, and poof, off he went. C had the pulled chicken sandwich with deviled eggs and I had pulled pork, smoked chicken thighs, beans, and a giant pile of pork rinds. Holy shit it was good!!! I didn't pay attention to the fact that my thighs had AL white sauce on them until well after I had ordered. Had I know that, I would not have ordered them. I despise all things that have anything to do with mayonnaise. But.... Had I known, I would have never known. I fucking loved it! I could have eaten 10 of them. There were hands down the best smoked chicken that I have ever had. The pork was bad ass too! I dare say perfect. Beans were great, and the pork rinds side was massive and still warm from the fryer with a killer seasoning on them. There are not enough adjectives to describe this food. I am in love.
