I guess it all depends on which types of burgers and fries you like - which will help decide if you like them or not. The Burgers are big to begin with and the small fries will usually feed 2 or 3 people - although I have eaten an order by myself. The fries are made from real potatoes - not frozen and I love the taste of their burgers. Pricing is on the steeper side, but for me, I think it's a value because of how much I like them. My burger preferences go: Wendy's, McDonalds' and then Burger King as a reference point. Staff is always nice, place is clean and they have a good amount of seating available. read more

This was my third time eating at a Five Guys and the first time at this location. On my third time I am starting to think it isn't quite as great as I initially thought on my first and even second visit, but it is still very much a heavy weight contender. Everything about the burger from the flavor of the meat to the bun to the toppings and sauces you choose for yourself are great. One last note on the burger, I go with the single patty and that is all the meat I need. The two patty burger would probably be too much even for a rabid burger eating carnivore such as myself. As for the fries, who doesn't like home style, just a little bit of skin left on, cooked in peanut oil fries. There is nothing worse than finishing your meal and wishing you had just two or three more fries. This probably will not happen to you here. Even the small fry is overflowing and with the the single patty burger, is way more food than I have ever been able to completely finish. In fact I was thinking that if for some reason I were to find myself homeless and hungry that I would probably hang out around a Five Guys because people are bound to have fries left over. I do not understand why this place continues to get comparisons to In-N-Out and why some people feel that this so called East Coast institution is a threat to their West Coast way of life and their sacred West Coast institution. I give In-N-Out their due and will say they're definitely getting it done in the fast food burger market, but they're not playing the same game as Five Guys. Five Guys does not have a drive though and probably could not prepare their food fast enough to sustain one. You have to order at the counter and you might as well get your real seat because it is going to be 5 or 10 minutes before your food is ready. These places are not in the same price point either. Solo I can skate out of In-N-Out somewhere around the $5 range and Five Guys is going to be double that. What do I get for double the money you ask? I get a bigger burger with more meat, a higher quality bun, way more fries and overall more of a restaurant style meal rather than a fast food one. I have been dying to try this place since my sister & her family tried it in her area, Sacramento about a month ago. She is super picky and was all ranting and raving about it. Tonight was the night. First off the resturant was clean and super bright. We got there a little before 7pm on a Tuesday the cashier Marie was friendly and sweet and asked questions that were much appreciated to get are order right. I was a little shocked at the total amount. It was all bagged up to go with in about 15 minutes which was great! Self serve ketchup and napkin area was stocked and clean. Burgers were super hot and smelled delicious! We went home to eat. Their burgers are fantastic, cooked perfectly great amount of seasoning! Plenty of veggies & condiments included. Also fries were yum, I have never seen my hubby eat so many fries from anywhere. Overall we will be back to try more :) read more

"quick, easy, cheap, bright, loud, and fun" -Savannah Morning News, GA 2006 Five Guys Burger is a new spin to the in-n-out burger/ Hamburger Habit/ Squeeze inn restaurants. The main stay offerings include a Little burger (one patty) or a regular burger (2 patties). They also offer alternatives like a Veggie burger and hot dogs which I think is completely cool and brings back that old burger joint/ malt shop feel to the place. The biggest thing for me here was the option to have Cajun Fries. Anything with Cajun seasoning is a must for me. And last, and most interesting is that they give you peanuts. Self-serve, all you can handle peanuts while you dine in. Off the bat, this newest addition to the Sacramento area provides some cool new quirks to the old time burger. But back to the burger... it was very good. The no frills, customize your own idea is a winner by me. You can select a number of compliments to go with your burger. You can have usuals like lettuce, catchup, mustard, pickles etc... to the awesome grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalapeños, or green peppers. Then its all wrapped up in foil. Nothing fancy, and straight to the point. The bun used was super soft. At times, it was falling apart for me, but the flavor and texture was good. Good overall burger. Oh and bacon is also an option. BACON~!!! The restaurant was big, bright, fun and loud. It's a great atmosphere to run in and grab some good food. I got a cheeseburger (w/ lettuce, mustard, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, green peppers), Cajun fries, and a drink which runs about 9 bucks. So it was a little higher than the in-n-out but on par with Habit and Squeeze. But the peanuts made me laugh... so I overlooked the cost. Overall, good food quality. The restaurant itself is overwhelming with signs yelling at you- telling you they were voted best this or that in '07. Annoying. It does not make me like your restaurant or food any more...The menu looks simple, but they actually have to explain it to you because they decided to make a hamburger = 2 patties. Our hamburgers came with completely smashed buns, and they were nothing special. I'd rather go somewhere else and pay less for something more satisfying. Great Bacon Cheeseburger. On par or better than any chain burger place out there (including in & out, habit, & sonic). Fries were awesome. Fast & simple menu. 3.5 stars. I love In n Out but... ...of course I had to try the best rated burger joint for this year! I walk in on a rainy Sunday afternoon and the place is PACKED. The decor reminded me a bit of In n Out because it was red and white...the only thing that felt different were the stacks of 50lb potato bags and boxes of peanuts. Food: While you order and wait for your food, you can grab a carton and fill it with peanuts. I'm not a huge fan of peanuts so meeeeeh. You can order small burgers or double patty ones, and can make it cheeseburger, bacon burger, or a bacon cheeseburger. If you go "all the way" your burger comes with the first row of toppings written in black (lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, ketchup, pickles, grilled onions, mushrooms, etc) and you can also add toppings from the second row for free (peppers, hot sauce, bbq sauce, a1 sauce, etc). I ordered a small bacon burger with a regular cajun fries and it cost me around $7-$8. Decent, but more expensive than some places. The bread is very soft so it makes it difficult to eat your burger, which is filled with so many toppings that fall out and make your bread soggy. The bacon was not as crisp as I would have liked, but my burger tasted very homemade and not fast foody at all! A regular fries was enough to share with a friend, so that was awesome (cost $2.69) This place is worth it if you like to load up on your toppings. If not, you are paying too much for your burger. Go somewhere else. Verdict: Liked it! My main problem was the fact that I was overzealous and put too many toppings on my burger so it was really hard to eat and I was full about 2/3 into it. I had to stop. If I want to go big, I will come here. Otherwise, I will probably stick to another fast food joint for my burger fix. read more

I thought I was a hard-core In & Out fan, until I ate here. I'm a vegetarian, so I used to get the grilled cheese at In & Out (basically the cheeseburger without the meat), but the "secret sauce" or Thousand Island or whatever the heck it is was too rich for me. At Five Guys, I can order a veggie cheese and get as many toppings and condiments as I want it--at no charge--which is more than the tomato, lettuce, pickle and onion I got at In & Out. At Five Guys you can get sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions, jalapenos, raw onions, pickles, ketchup, BARBEQUE SAUCE! A1 steak sauce and more! There are so many ways to make your burger. Plus, the regular sized fries are actually of monstrous proportions and taste super crisp (has skin on it). Much better than those soggy sticks they called fries at In & Out. read more

When it comes to Burgers, I am usually very picky about where I get it from. Five Guys Burger has been a burger joint I've been meaning to try ever since I heard about it opening in California. I decided to give this place a shot. I ordered the Little Bacon Cheeseburger (single patty), regular Cajun Fries, and a drink to go with the meal. It was a little pricey maybe because I had to buy everything a la carte (would be great if they just had combo prices). But overall, I enjoyed the burger and their fries. The burger was juicy, had the right amount of sauce, grilled onions & mushrooms as condiments is a plus. The fries were nice and HOT the way fries should be. Did I mention that they have boxes of peanuts for you to snack on while you wait on your order? They use peanut oil in their fryers so I wouldn't recommend this place for those who are allergic to nuts. read more

Not sure what the big fuss is about this place. Burger was as plain as it gets. They wrap it with foil and smash it, so that when you unwrap it, it looks like dog food. Cajun fries were over-seasoned and very very salty. If you have peanut allergies, stay 50 ft away from this place, there is bags of peanuts everywhere...still can't figure out what the appeal is. Juicy and tasty is an understatement to describe these burgers. Everything or all-the-way you can't go wrong with the toppings and bacon...OH YEAH!!! And the fries...another OH YEAH!!! The others might look a lil fancier but what it comes down to is plain and simple good ol' fashioned tasty and a bit messy burger. I've always loved Five Guys! Whenever I talk to people, they always compare Five Guys to In 'N Out. People may hate me for this, but I prefer Five Guys hands down. The best way I can describe Five Guys is imagining a burger on a Sunday afternoon backyard BBQ! Sizzling, juicy ground beef, with the cheese melting into it kind of BBQ! Admittedly it's a little pricey, as you have to pay for everything (burger, fries, drink) separately, but the portions are worth it. I normally get the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger with everything on it. "I would have rather gotten a McDonald's burger for a fraction of the price and a fraction of the grease." How are these guys actually in business? Prob. one of the worst burgers I have ever had. I got 3 burgers and 3 fries and my total was $35+ HOW!?? I picked up lunch for my coworkers and every single one of them were doused in grease. We all looked at each other like...seriously? Then the receipt of how much I paid was staring me in the face. Bad form. The buns were literally wet. All of them, the bag was stained with grease like something out of a Ninja Turtles movie when they grab greasy pizza. The burgers were literally unappetizing and all and the FRIES were limp and soggy like a turtles you know what. I couldn't even finish my burger and not because it was big (which it isn't) but because it was like eating regurgitated bread.. I NEVER post complaints on Yelp but the experience was so bad I had no choice but to share. Last time I will ever spend money at that place. I normally enjoy everything about this Five Guys. But today, was totally upsetting. We ordered online, a big order, which is why we chose to do it online. Supposed to be ready by 2:42. Now I understand it gets busy and obviously it's not always going to be ready by said time. We go in at 2:47 and was told we're just going to be waiting for the fries, all the burgers are done. So by 3:10 I start to get irritated since I know it doesn't take over 10 mins for some fries. I go up there and ask someone about my order, and they said that no one called out my order so it's just been sitting up there for almost 20 mins now. He hands me my burgers and said he's getting the fries. Then when I get my fries, it doesn't even look like the amount I should've gotten since they just dumped the fries in the bag without the cups (because I've already been waiting so long). Well that's great and all but not if you got 5 orders of fries and all different sizes for different people. But the one I knew didn't look like the right size is the small bag of fries we got, when it was supposed to be 2 large fries. Looked like enough for one small fries. I get it, it gets busy. But I don't think they should've just let our burgers sit back there for 20 mins. read more

This was my second time here, the first was when it opened. I have to say I was quite dissatisfied and disappointed. For the price of your burger and fries you would think it would be a pretty decent burger. It was almost a 10 dollar burger, crazy. It looked great but there was no wow factor for me. I couldn't figure out what makes people spend so much on a burger that tastes subpar. I would have rather taken had spent the money on a dad's burger. The seasoned fries tasted like diner fries but the shakes were pretty decent. Staff was nice and well attentive, no complaints. Place was clean and bathrooms were well taken care of. Burgers are fantastic, the employees are always really nice and attentive. My only complaint with this location particularly is they're very stingy with the fries. We come here quite often and are always disappointed at how stingy they are with fries. A large fry, you're going to get one cup full, with a small handful extra, a large fry is almost 6 bucks too. It's really weird because I can honestly say that this place isn't that memorable. A huge con about the place is the peanuts. I'm not allergic but my nephews are. They use peanuts to occupy their customers to eat so the residue and scraps are around and they also use peanut oil so it's a double whammy. My husband and I went last Sunday after 2PM. No line, the person taking the order was pleasant and quite helpful. They even accommodated us by providing the Cajun spice for the fries on a small container as I prefer regular fries. The meat was quite juicy even for the single patty. The additional extras, grilled mushroom was a great additional making this burger a notch up from "In & Out"; it would really wow me if there was avocado. My husband stated the buns could have been a little more robust. Between us one order or fries was enough. We thought the drink was a bit more than other places. i would eat here again but only once in a awhile. this place is often compared to In-N-Out and Habit Burger and it should be. i ordered the regular size bacon cheeseburger with everything but no mushrooms and no hot sauce. overall the quality was average but nothing great. the cajun fries was alright but they gave too much that i ended up not finishing it. the prices are a bit expensive ($6.19 for bacon cheeseburger). aside from the food, customer service was great. my suggestion would be to opt for Habit Burger and In-N-Out. read more
