I came here on a slow day and it still took a while to get a simple hamburger. they wrapped it tightly with aluminum foil but the entire burger fell apart when I was 1/2 way through. The place is pretty clean and the staff was polite. not sure if I would be back though. read more

After hearing from my friends over and over about how good Five Guys was, I finally dined on some last week. So how was it, well lets go over the pros and cons. Pros: The Guy behind the counter who took my order was very friend and unusally enthusiastic than I've seen other fast food workers. I had ordered my burger with jalapenos and he caution me than their peppers were sliced fresh and might be too intense. Pah! I can handle the heat. Their portion of fries were very generous, they were overflowing out of their container and into the bag, and with numerous free toppings, there are thousands of custom burger creations that one can make. Cons: As Rodney Dangerfield once said, "The food aint' great but the portions are terrific!" This describes their fries. Overly season and mushy, I expect a good set of fries to be lightly toasty on the outside and soft on the inside. These were just soft, but this is just a minor nitpick, where Five Guys really dropped the ball is their prices. For a quarter pound burger (with free toppings) fries and drink, it was 11 dollars and change. I would expect a lot more from my burger for that price. I can go to any chain steakhouse and get a bigger burger, fries and drink for almost the same price. So while the burger was tasty, for what I paid, I would expect a lot more. So, if it wasn't for the price, I would say Five Guys is a decent place but as is, it just was too expensive and a little underwhelming. read more

Once you get that beef hankering for a good burger, you can't shake it till you find that burger that satisfies your craving. I have ate at 5 guys in Olathe many times and always thought their food was top notch. I have since learned that visiting a different locale can change everything. I opted to visit the Legends location instead of returning to the tried and true. When we walked in, there was music blaring so loudly, the girl at the counter had trouble hearing what we were ordering. Seeking a seat in the dining area, I moved tables three times because every table seemed to have a speaker over it. Now I am not one of those old people that crab about music in the dining room. It was even my kind of music..Satellite 80s hits. What I did object to was the excessive volume. You couldn't talk to each other across the table without yelling. I would have enjoyed it at a lower setting. Not appropriate for a dining atmosphere. I don't want to eat at a nightclub. We waited almost 12 minutes for our food to be announced. The cook was literally shouting the order numbers for anyone to hear it. He is probably hoarse after a shift of that. I have to say, the food we got did not meet the standards that I had been shown at the Olathe store. The burger was mediocre at best. But the real disappointment was the fries... They really tout that they have the greatest fries around. And I would have to agree, till now. During our 12 minute wait we noticed that all the fryer baskets were full of fries hanging over the oil vats, already cooked and getting cold. And that is exactly the fries we got cold, rubbery, and most of them about an inch to two inches long. I was used to hot, crunchy long skin on fries....a slap in the face to say the least. Our bill was $22 for two....it was worth about $8 in my book for what we got. I think I am on a roll when it comes to culinary disappointments, This is my third bad review in a row. This place was hopping Saturday night after the Great Midwest Balloon Fest. The crew did a good job keeping up. Burgers as usual were good but the sautéed mushrooms were not sautéed very well and looked like they came from a can rather than fresh mushrooms. I hope this does not spread to their other toppings. Every time I come to this location (it's close to where I work) i try to go when there's not a rush during the week otherwise you'll be waiting over a half over for your order. So I just would go there for a milkshake and no one would be in line and no one would make my milkshake till about 5 or more minutes later. We got there about 15 minutes before closing and the employees were all very cheerful. Very satisfying cheeseburger with lots of topping choices. My friend & I shared a small order of fries and it was plenty for both of us! Munching on the peanuts in the shell while waiting for our order was kind of fun. Clean restroom with hot water. A run of the mill burger joint where a regular burger is actually a double and a order of fries could be a meal by itself. What can you expect? A greasy burger so big it's hard to take a bite out of, a massive order of soggy fries, a endless supply of...... peanuts?, and a pop machine with every type of pop on earth! (maybe a little exaggerated on the pop but there is a ton of choices) Seriously though. The burgers were fairly good. (green peppers and fried onions on a burger are awesome) Beats any drive through place your gonna go to that's for sure! Tried both types of fries. (reg & cajun) Both were pretty greasy and soggy but the cajun one's masked that quite a bit. For what your getting the wait seemed pretty long the two times I've been. The seating at the legends location is very crammed together. Quite annoying if it's busy when you go. They do have a GLUTEN FREE option. Basically you get your burger minus the bun and a fork! You can also have the fries and peanuts. Good way to get your burger fix if this is a issue for you. Conclusion OK burgers, lame fries and a price point that can easily be matched or even beaten by a better destination! Not much I can say that hasn't been said already. My kids love the overpriced burgers here. Agree with the rest, you get a lot of soggy fries. I admit, I do enjoy the free peanuts here. It does get packed here at the Legends location and finding a table is sometimes a challenge. Our table was dirty and I asked one of the workers to spray it with the cleaner and paper towels she had in her hand but she instead left and came back with some nasty looking cleaning rag to wipe it down with. Now the table is wet and probably even dirtier from that rag but hey at least there's no more crumbs on it...and fortunately for us, the long wait for the overpriced food allowed for the germ infested table to dry. We weren't singled out in terms of the wait so I'm not going to complain and I also think it's ok since they are made to order. Not my favorite for a burger but my kids love it so I'm ok with it. Today as I waited for my food, I saw someone refilling the ice in the coke machines. He wore plastic gloves and carried a bucket of ice. He then used a ladder to dump the ice into the machine. This was gross to me because he touched the ladder with the gloves ON and then touched the ice...some of which landed on top the machine and he touched it and got it inside. I won't be getting ice there again. Also, the floor of the area where they make the food was dirty and I saw a piece of cheese slide off my burger and touch the silver counter (which I hope was clean!) read more
