I wish that I had read the reviews before I went here. This was my first and probably my last time eating at Five Guys. The free peanuts is cute but that is not enough for me to waste almost $15 on a burger and a small order of fries. This place is kind of like one step up from Wendy's, Five Guys is Wendy's bigger Stronger younger brother but with much higher prices. The "home fries" are not like fresh cut fries from home, they are some kind of processed fries that sort of look like fries from home. OUR TABLE WAS A MESS FILED WITH ENDLESS BUNDLED UP NAPKINS AND PEANUT SHELLS, AND SALT ALL OVER MY PANTS FROM THE FRIES, i wanted to shower after eating this meal. i felt violated. and i dint wanna ruin the interior of the car. my friend couldnt wait for the experience to end. the salt and fat content of the burger made him aggressive and yell at innocent children out of his car window . during our ride home he was still so upset and out of control from the side effects of such an obese disguisting meal that he forgot where he was going and lost his sense of direction and compassion towards others. he began yelling and regretting the experience and money wasted. after about 15 min. he realised he shouldnt have yelled at those kids - once the effects of the 5 guys mushrooms went away. he also spent 20 min. in the bathroom, which is 20 min of his life tht he wont get back. -RICHARD read more

Brand new 5 guys opens on Miracle Mile! Woo hoo! It was not open to the public today, tomorrow is the big opening. There were a bunch of people outside getting rather upset because they thought it was open to the public...... unfortunately it was not. Up until late, there have only been a few burgers on Miracle Mile and they have been very busy.... 5 Guys is going to be mobbed for quite awhile. If you have ever had 5 Guys before you will know what to expect here - big burgers, lots of fries. I made the mistake of getting the "Mini Burger" thinking that it would be small - its not. Its huge. Apparently "mini" just means that there is only one patty. - good to know. Really yummy though - I would probably put it just below In and Out. Although there is so much more of variety to how you can order here. This place is much greasier than In and Out, however. It' sgood stuff! If you haven't had 5 guys yet, this is a good spot to go and check it out. I doubt you will be disappointed. read more

I always give places another try. This time my friend was treating. Got a bacon burger. Pretty damn tasty except no bacon. I was already 3/4th into the burger. I basically told the lady "i just noticed there was no bacon in the burger!". She said "do you want another one?". U think i got this fat turning down free meals? I said "i guess!". Not a bad burger, the bun was soggy half way through eating it, that's a peeve of mine. Kinda reminded me of In and Out Burger nothing made it stand out to me. The fries were really good, the strawberry shake had a weird after taste not sure what that was. The ambiance was not my favorite and cheap paper to go bags for your dining in order. Hmmm. I dunno. Guess the effort on the FIVE GUYS side pales in comparison to other stellar burger joints and it was almost $20!!! Not worth the money, sorry guys. I'm sure people will continue to go. It's not in-n-out quality but its close. The burgers are great. The fries I wasn't really too keen on they were way saltier than I'd have preferred. I love the Five Guys style. The way you're welcomed into it's white and red checkered restaurant with open boxes of peanuts with baskets and a scoop for you to munch on while you make an order and wait. The way the menu promises variety and customization by fully showing all your choices. That the "little" choices are by fast food standards as big and priced around a competitors "normal." That whether ordered to go or in your order will come in a brown paper bag like a school lunch, the seasoning of the fries scattered across the napkins and foil-wrapped burger. And especially how the employees will sing out your order, then if not fulfilled in a timely fashion another worker will join in jubilantly, and then another if you still don't walk up, to the point where mathematically there could be an order that takes so long to be redeemed that the entire conglomerate of Five Guys will be shouting "Order 66!" across the globe. read more

Now that Five Guys is open it might be time to stop referring to this stretch of Wilshire as the Wig District and start calling it the Burger District what with The Counter being a stone's throw away. When we walked in the line was about 20 people deep but it moved faster than Pinkberry when it was all the rage. For being open only a few days, it was a very organized and tightly run ship. Our order was up in no time. The small burger is plenty big (especially with calories listed on the menu). It's definitely in the same league as In N Out. It reminded me of the burgers at the Parker Meridian in NYC and that's definitely a good thing. Is one better than the other? Gotta go back for more research (with all the toppings there are a ton of options) but after the first visit, comparing the two is probably going to be apples and oranges situation. In N Out does get the edge on the fries though. The Cajun fries were more salty than "seasoned' and the standard fries were solid. They're VERY generous with the fries so you might want to split an order. Two small orders were way more than plenty. read more

The service was good but the restaurant seemed a little grubby. I should have realized I was in trouble when I saw the big open boxes of peanuts. I got the large order of fries (well done), and it wasn't until after I ate one did I think to ask, "Did they fry them in peanut oil?" Answer: yes. Bad news. I am allergic to nuts! So I had to throw out a $5 bag of fries. They really should put that on the menu: "We use peanut oil." Also they do not have Cherry Coke in their awesome high-tech Coke machines. Come ON! read more

My friend and I were in desperate need of a burger! Not sure what happened but our order got lost in the sauce. The amazing staff went above and beyond as soon as I brought it to their attention! Honestly, I have had similar issues with 5 star restaurants that did not resolve an issue so efficiently! They made a duplicate order for us to take home, gave us extra fries and drinks too! Everyone was apologetic from the cashier to the cooks! It's not the mistake that makes a business a bad experience, it is how it is handled. Thank you! This is the worst burger chain in the world. The burger patties are super low quality- the burger meat in Taco Bell tacos taste better. I also busted my tooth on something hard in the patty. The patties are small, dried out, and fall apart as soon as you try to lift it with a fork. The atmosphere is decent but the food is for sh*t. read more

I just moved the area and quite honestly I'd never heard of this place before. I've never understood why people wait in line for a hot dog at Pink's but if that was the case here (it's not) I would totally understand. The ingredients are fresh and the food is all made-to-order. I normally prefer a little more pink in my burger but even without it it was juicy and delicious. They have a great selections of toppings so you really can customize to your tastes. The fries are medium cut skin and cooked to perfection. The combination of the potato, skin, peanut oil and salt takes me back to my childhood and the cone of fresh cut fries I'd get at Fanueil Hall in Boston. read more

I wanted to leave from the moment I walked in. This place is loud. When you walk in, they yell. "TWO AT THE DOOR." When you order, they yell. "FLIP TWO PATTIES." The whole time you're there, they're yelling 'FOUR AT THE DOOR,' 'FLIP FOUR PATTIES," "THREE AT THE DOOR." Then there's the music. Loud rock-and-roll plays non-stop. Not just any rock-and-roll--but the crappiest you can imagine. I swear they played a Meatloaf song while I was there: not even a Meatloaf song you've ever even heard before, just some random loud yelling Meatloaf song. I suppose to some this is charming. To me it was very unpleasant. I saw a sad-looking woman waiting for her order. I said "I wish it were louder, I can almost hear myself think." She said: "I know--I just want to get my burger and eat it in my nice quiet car." It's also ugly. Everything is red and white. There are posters bawling out reviews from a dozen smaller cities around the country--in case you neglected to understand that you are in a CHAIN RESTAURANT. The chairs are even ugly: they're metal painted with fake woodgrain. Is this supposed to be charming? Why not just--oh I don't know--have metal chairs? Finally, they are not efficient. There must have been seven people making burgers--but only one taking orders. There was a crazy lady at the front of the line order. She engaged two cashiers in a five-minute conversation. The cashiers could not figure out to take her aside and answer her litany of questions. So four parties stood in line waiting. It turned out the crazy lady had ordered fries. That's it. Just fries. Fries and a water. She took five minutes to order fries. As for the food, it's fine. The hamburgers are very tasty. The bun is dreadfully sweet and soft. But the burger itself is fine. The french fries start good but get worse. They are real whole potatoes, apparently cooked fresh and with the skins on. But the fresh hot potato taste wears off quickly, and what's left can taste off and varies tremendously from one fry to the next. In short: order in advance and pick up, don't be there any longer than you must, take your food and go, but eat nearby, since the food can't bear the temperature change--it must be eaten hot. I'm sure others feel differently. They can all weigh in. I understand from the signage that they're crazy about this place in Charlotte. Now I understand why I do not live in Charlotte. Clearly, there are many fine places to eat a burger in LA. Many like In 'N' Out. There's The Counter for the gourmet. There's Irv's for the old-time-y crowd. Umami Burger makes everything wet and sweet--so if you like that, there you have it. But if you want to sit and talk to someone and enjoy a meal without constant yelling and bad music, this is not the place for you. P.S. They have free peanuts-in-the-shell. The burger is OK i guess but the fries were way undercooked. I appreciate they dump a bunch more fries in the bag but for the prices they charge they should give you an extra burger too. My problem with the place is the ambiance. The lights are too friggen bright. On top of that the staff SCREAMS out the order numbers. I had PTSD after eating in this place. "NUMBER SEVENTY EIGHT!!!!!!!" Everybody in the place heard you the first time, chief. In fact, everybody on the block heard you. "FOUR IN THE DOOR!!!!" High energy is one thing, screaming and scaring the crap out of the people walking in the door is another. What's up with the smell in this place? I assume it's the cajun spice mixed with the peanut oil. That smell is unmistakeable. My friend remarked that it smelled like they were cremating Gandhi. That's pretty right on. If you like free peanuts while getting a whiff of the burning Mahatma, this place is for you. Everyone wondered how 5 Guys would stack up to the In N Out love out here and frankly it's not even a contest. Throw in the fact that you have so many high end burger joints within a few miles of this place (Umami, The Counter, Short Order, Father's Office, etc) and I'm left to wonder how this place survives in this location. read more

Never thought I'd say anything awful about Five Guys but yet... here we are. The review is not about the food but as to how their employees was trained. I ordered a milk shake and if anyone has ordered that before, you know that the cup they use is the flimsy, cheap one and with a huge crappy cover. Even if you don't order your shake with a whipped cream they'll still give you that terrible cup. I don't get why they don't just put it on a regular soda cup with the decent cover. I asked the guy who took my order and handed me my shake, Jared S. (that's the name showing on my receipt) if he can do me a favor and just pour the shake to the soda cup as I am taking it to go. I don't want the shake to accidentally spill in my car's cupholder. You guys, you know what he said?! He said "We have to charge you for the cup." Is he kidding me?! First, I am not asking him to change the size of the shake. Second, Five guys wants to charge for the cup because...they think I'll use the cup to help myself to a free soda?! It's mind boggling. This place cooks their meat patties without having them frozen and stored in the fridge! The burger tastes fresh and reminds me of a home-made burgers. However, I would have to say that In n out is better because of their special spread sauce, that I love. But I am still willing to give this place a 5 star rating because I believe it's far better than other fast food hamburgers, and their cajun fries SO good and serves lots of quantity. I will be coming here more often since it's closer to my house than In n out ! read more

Fast food burger joint with some fun quirks like in-shell peanuts while you wait. A little pricier than the more common fast food spots. They don't have a veggie burger but you can get a bunch of fixins on a bun. I love the fries with the cajun spices. I waited so long for a five guys to open near me and it finally did! I was so excited when they opened, but then I realized that their employees are terrible with adhering to five guys standards. I have ordered to-go three times from them only to realize that they have forgotten the bacon on my burger, once I've gotten home. How can you forget the bacon three times?? Especially since the charge extra for it. They always offer a free burger, but they just forget the bacon again. Am I asking for something so unreasonable? Terrible service. Went here hoping to cure a hangover. I was totally left hanging. The burger was cold (and I ate at the location), the patty was thin and dry, the bun was uninteresting. The only reason they get two stars is because of the free roasted peanuts you can have while waiting. Staff is always friendly and have never messed up one of my orders. Food is always warm and great quality. Location is very clean. Parking is located in the garage behind the storefront and is free with validation. It's kind of expensive for a burger, but that doesn't stop me from visiting when I'm in the mood for a quick burger. read more
