ALLERGY WARNING: If you have a peanut allergy, STAY AWAY from Five Guys! They cook in peanut oil, which gives the food its distinct taste. That said, I will continue this 5-star review by stating I have no such allergy, and the burgers and fries are absolutely mouth-watering. My first taste of Five Guys was outside Albany, NY (Rensallear) two summers ago. Having never even heard of the place before I had no clue what to expect, but boy was I in for a surprise. I'm glad they opened up nearby! The burgers are cooked thoroughly, yet still juicy. It's nice to have the luxury of ordering each preferred topping individually as opposed to other chains which throw everything on it and force you to say "hold the _____". A1 Steak Sauce as an optional condiment is an added bonus. If you're not much of a fry guy (like me) one regular order of fries will be more than enough, as the servers toss a generous extra handful into each bag. And they're so delicious! If you're a fan of good ol' fashioned greasy American burgers and fries, then you will love Five Guys. Be prepared to pay a few bucks more per meal than you would at any other popular fast food franchise, but it's totally worth it! read more

We are really pumped that Five Guys opened up on our path to NH which we journey to often. It is a great stopping spot right off the Meritt for food on the go. The bummer is it's not as quick as you might want in the need fast food situation- but the Burgers are definitely better. The Burgers are very good and they pack a punch for a good price. The topping choices are great. The hot dogs are good too. The fries, I have to pass on. They throw too many in which means they are making a ton of fries at once and the quality isn't that good and they are often too greasy. I also wish Five Guys would throw a salad on their menu- it would be cheap and easily sell. I probably won't seek them out in the city, but we'll definitely keep stopping on our trips to NH and will be happy to do so. read more

I decided to order a bacon cheeseburger and regular order of fries online because I live about 15 minutes away. When i arrived here to pick up my food, the staff was very friendly and told me they were cooking my fries. I love the fact that they wait until you walk in the door to cook your fries so they are not soggy. Let's just say by the time i got home there were barely any fries left since i ate most of them lol. Even after a ride home of almost 20 minutes, the burger was still excellent. I ordered my burger "all the way" which includes mushrooms and onions; it was delicious. The bun held up very well and the burger was cooked perfectly. AWEsome each time I have visited...and boy have a visited. Burgers any way you want them and really you should put on the barbecue sauce!! No extra charge for extra toppings. The servers are always peppy and great. You won't have to wait long for your order, and to spend your time they have peanuts to munch on. You'll have to avoid the whole establishment entirely if you have a nut allergy because they use peanut-oil to fry everything and there are peanuts in buckets everywhere. No different from any other 5 Guys I've ever been to, which is a good thing. They're expanding very rapidly right now, but so far I haven't noticed a decline in quality. Hopefully it stays that way! Although I am now a vegetarian, when I ate meat, I remember this being the best cheeseburger I've ever had. Even now, I'm tempted to get one. Quality ingredients and food, friendly service, and excellent fries! It's a bit more expensive than other burger places (McDiabetes and Burger Killing) but it's what's inside the food that makes it sooo much better and worth the extra money. The burgers are amazing. It reminds me a lot like In-n-Out in California. Maybe better? Either way, this place is amazing and will definitely leave you full by the time you leave. Advisory to the wise: the regular burger has two patties. I guarantee you that it'll leave you in a comatose state afterwards. If you have a meeting afterwards or was the designated driver to Five Guys, then go with the Jr. Burger. As a side note, this place is part of the trifecta of awesomeness with Five Guys, an alcohol store, and a music store all within the same plaza. What more can you ask for? read more

The burgers are giant and beastly, but they're made just for you and they're so delicious! To not finish would be a sin! Watching them being made is half the fun. The french fries are good (cajun or regular), and abundant. Three people can split an order, easy. Easily the most consistent in terms of food, service and cleanliness. Burgers and hot dogs where o.k. The problem is the way they go about serving. While sitting there eating, you have to hear the whole crew YELLING. They start off when a customer is walking towards the front door. One cook yells " 1 or 2 or 3, etc .more " to the crew. ( that means they yell out how many people are about to enter the restaurant) Then the whole crew yells "IY " Then they yell to you how are you. Then they yell your order to the crew, then they yell to the crew that your order is going on the grill, then yell when it's coming off the grill, then they yell your number when its ready. So they do this to every customer, mind you over the music that's being pumped into the restaurant , it gets so loud in there you cant even have a conversation while eating. I've probably eaten in a dozen different Five Guys, and I've eaten at this one multiples times. It is an experience! The crew behind the glass is constantly engaged in their customers. They are fantastically entertaining. They call out customer counts coming in from the lot, in line, and waiting. They greet every customer coming through the door and playfully fill orders. When I order, I sit and watch and always leave feeling good. Check it out for yourself sometime! read more

This update is a bit overdue - so after a complete changeover of staff in 2011, this Five Guys got back to being great in '12-'13. The burgers and veggie sandwiches are consistently very good, and I appreciate that they've added a smaller serving size option for fries. The staff is quite friendly and courteous. I will note that since Five Guys first appeared in our area, prices have crept up a bit, but it still represents a good bargain. Overall, back to excellent. read more

My wife and I had lunch here today. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by one of the guys in the kitchen. We ordered the standard burgers and fries, ate some of the free peanuts and waited what we felt was a relatively short period of time - given that it was during the lunch hour on the last full day of shopping before Christmas. The guys in the open kitchen interacted us while we waited for our food. When our order was ready, one of the guys in the kitchen apologized for our wait (we were thinking what wait), and gave us extra fries - which amounted to almost a full bag of fries. Good food, great service. We will be back the next time we're craving a burger! read more

I still love Five Guys. UberEATS has made it much easier to enjoy their delicious food at home with my own great beer. As a restaurant, it's not much, but for takeout/delivery, it truly is tough to beat their burgers. It's the tastiest burger I have ever had delivered to my house and easily beats out some of the "classier" (and pricier) establishments (ie Prime 16). Don't forget about the hot dogs! This place is going downhill... maybe the summer help, I don't know. I placed an order through the app and gave them 25 minutes. When I showed up it wasn't ready and I had to wait. But, of course, the burgers were both dry and cold. The cashier looked at me like She didn't know what a web order was and just walked away ... I had to ask for my drink cups. They failed to put the condiments on my daughter's sandwich and mine looked like it was assembled by throwing the toppings from across the kitchen. The Fairfield store is much better run ... I might try Oxford next time. This isn't the first time I've been disappointed here in Amity so I won't be coming back. read more

A little pricey, but the best fast food burger you can find in Connecticut for sure. The burgers--doubles, unless you order a 'little'--are delicious, with choice of free toppings. The fries are also amazing, with or without cajun seasoning; however, after eating a burger I rarely have room for fries. And when you order fries here, they fill a styrofoam cup--and then the rest of your paper bag, covering the burgers with as many fries as can fit. It's a crazy amount of fries for the price. I've been unable to finish a large with two friends. All in all, the best burgers and fries in the area, great value, pretty fast, takes orders by phone, and there's even the free peanuts while you're waiting. One of my favorites. read more

The best burger and fries you are going to get in New Haven! Everything is fresh from the beef down to the freshly cut potatoes. The dinning area is always clean and the staff is always loud, upbeat and friendly. Not really craving a burger? They have delicious hot dogs, grilled cheese and fresh fries. They also have a yummy veggie melt with a base of mushrooms and grilled onions for those who do not eat meat. Mmm mmm mmm. When I'm craving for a burger I will most likely be in line at this location. Their menu is short, sweet, and simple. They don't mess with what's going well: the burger and the fries. Burgers can be custom ordered with the toppings chosen at no extra cost. If you do order the burgers - you have to get the fries: crisp, fresh, crunchy, and piled up over the burger, so fresh you can see the grease spots on the brown paper bag. Its not overly salted like other fries. They treat those spuds so special that there's a sign posted saying where the potatoes came from. The people working at this location are very courteous and greeted each person who came in. There's no walls between the kitchen and the dining area so you can see how hard they are working to give quality food. Yeah the the food is a little greasy, so try not to count your calories if you have a five guys burger....just enjoy it..don't feel guilty because ..You ain't got time for that! read more

Very greasy, but very friendly!!! After eating here I felt like I had to be hosed down... The staff is very friendly and very helpful, especially the first time I went to Five Guys. The attendant at the counter (I wish I got his name) explained the ordering process to me in great detail and also offered advice to lessen my confusion. You know how it is the first time you go to a place. As for the food it just did not cut it for me. I tried Five Guys 3 times just to give it a fair shake. Once in Farmington, CT and twice in the New Haven, CT location. I don't eat a lot of greasy food so that may have been the problem. I thought the double cheeseburger and the fries were extremely greasy. On all 3 occasions the grease was literally seeping through the bottom of the French fry bag. The French fry portion was huge; however, on top of being greasy they were extremely salty. If I ever go to Five Guys again (if someone else wanted to go) I would see if I could get them unsalted or not get them at all. I'll do a shot of Crisco instead. While I was eating I could hear people raving about the portions. I would rather have quality over quantity. Although I'm active, I'm not in the best of shape, but now I can understand why most Americans are overweight. It's from people continuously eating greasy, fattening food like this. five guys is poppin up all over .. hopefully thats not the start of lesser quality or money problems. i have been to this five guys a few times now and eaten there and gotten it to go - note to self, its always better there. the burgers? i can't comment on them - i am a vegetarian. i get their interesting grilled cheese with onions and peppers and a very big side of cajun fries and they are really very ummmm interestingly delicious. everyone tells me they have great burgers, and the places are always busy .. the price is decent too for what you get - and this one is pretty convenient off rt 15 by the tunnel.. read more

As far as burgers go, this place is up there as one of the best. It definitely has that nostalgic 50's feel to it, with the paper hats and the simple menu. The burgers are great, the little burger is enough for me, but they have the big burger for you meat lovers. The fries are what sets this place apart. You get bucket portions for a small price, and they are cooked in peanut oil to give them a really unique flavor. The staff has always been friendly, and they work hard to get your food to you as quickly as possible. Definitely a fun weekend lunch destination. read more

When I am in the area -well worth visiting for lunch. I can see why they are successful. The burgers are tasty and you can have it your way-they aim to please. Fantastic food, and great prices. $10 gets you enough food for a generous filling meal. The staff is wonderful. They are permanently in a good mood, it seems. French fry portions fill the bag.
