Thank you 5 guys. Thank you for the atrocious "veggie burger". After a long day I was VERY excited to indulge into a juicy veggie burger but no. No. You know what I got (after countless minutes of waiting)? A soggy bun filled with LETTUCE AND not 1, not 2, but 3 tomato slices. When I finally got my burger and unwrapped the foil, I went in for that delicious bite I was so tensely craving. Almost always a mob scene during lunch at this place...and for good reason. The burgers are among the best in the city (i'd say top 10 - not as good as Shake Shack or Burger Joint), but that's real good considering this is a franchise. Yes the burgers are greasy, but always juicy and very tasty. The line moves fast here, and they give you an option of 16 toppings you can throw on there. I personally put Lettuce, Onions, Ketchup, Mayo and A1 Steak Sauce... delish. The fries are usually decent too, but sometimes a little too greasy/ soggy to enjoy. Hard to find seats during lunch time here, so better to take out. read more

The fries were good but not as crispy as I would have liked -- the guys working there were funny though, my friends had the cup of fries they ordered and the guy just threw some additional ones in the bag. So yeah the fries are good but that's about it. I paid $11 for a burger that tasted exactly like a McDonald's burger -- they put relish on it when I didn't even order any! It's not that it's a bad burger, it's just ridiculous for what they charge your for it. The patty was as thin as my pinky whereas you can get a big fat juicy burger at Shake Shack or New York Burger for the same or lesser price -- both great places. If you're reading this, don't waste your money at Five Guys, go to the other places. read more

Overrated!!!! I heard so much about this burger joint that I decided to give it a try. The order was handled quickly but the portion was tiny and the fries were "meh". They could have stuck a slider in the bag and i would not have been able to tell the difference. There is a Five Guys in Yonkers and that restaurant is awesome! This Five Guys location is located on 3rd Ave just blocks away from Time Square and numerous Broadway shows. Great fresh burgers, like all of their locations. This location could have been a bit cleaner, but the employees are motivated and seemed to get along better than most fast food places. Definitely worth going back to. read more

Came here for lunch with a friend. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato and split a regular cajun fries since my friend recommended it and going anything larger would be overkill and a small Mello Yellow (can't remember the last time I had one of these). The burger was juicy and greasy but oh so good. Bacon inside was crisp and crunchy. Cajun fries were decent but I prefer their regular fries. It does get super packed during peak lunch time, if you can get there around noon you should still be able to get a table. read more

Five guys is an ultimate classic and all though it is a greasy burger joint the restaurants are well kept and clean. But hence this website is about food and five guys gives you the best of it. Peanuts are optional as you await the calling of your meal. The atmosphere captures those good old perfect burger and fries. I normally get the little cheese burger all the way with fries. Always been a fan of 5 Guys. First tried them when I lived in MD. Their burgers are amazingly huge and fulfilling. But their fries CONQUER all. My basic order when I go is usually a Little Cheese Burger and Regular/Small Fries. Today my office decided to order lunch from Five Guys Burgers and Fries, we chose this location simply because it is super close to our office. I placed the order online, which seemed like a good idea, super convenient, and it allowed me to specify exactly what we wanted on each of the 4 burgers and it even allowed me to select a time that I would like to go pick it up. Well, my co-worker picked up the order and when we were unpacking it we realized that all of the burgers were wrong, each of the 4 were missing condiments that we had requested. I decided to call the restaurant with the intention just to be courteous and let them know that there were many errors with our order and maybe the manager could address that (I was not looking for any money back or a new order or anything) I just thought I should tell them to help improve things. WELL the manager got soooo nasty with me from the moment I said that our burgers were incorrect she didnt even let me expain (and I was not being nasty or short or anything while talking to her). The manager asked me what # burger was incorrect my response to her was "I'm sorry what do you mean which number burger" she got loud with me and said if I would just look I would see that the foil that each burger was wrapped in would be marked with a number. I went on to tell her which burgers were in correct and which condiments were missing on each. Her response to me was "well what would you like me to do about your missing mushroms and lettuce?" I am shocked that this was the way a manager responded to me especially because I was not at all being rude or short with her. I will never order from this location again! Nobody deserves to be spoken to in such a rude manner ESPECIALLY a paying customer. read more

This has been my burger go-to place when in the mood for a good burger with fries- usually in Queens. The meat is always very fresh and the the overall burger is tasty. I love their fries also because they're dry and crunchy but not in this particular location- the last time I went here (which I do admit was probably over 3 years ago), they were very greasy but they never fail to be consistently perfect in Queens locations. Great food, as we all know, but be prepared to see some wild behavior. Last time I was there, a scrawny 20-something drunkard (who had to be seconds from passing out) was screamed at by female staffer and threatened with calls to the fuzz before the meth-head slowly slumbered off. The way the staffer handled the situation made it evident that it wasn't her first rodeo, like the lion tamer whose not afraid of the giant beast and whips it with impunity. I guess this review is more for Five Guys overall then this particular location, but they're all the same. I've had Five Guys in 3 different statesa dn it's always good. I first tried Five Guys at Penn State while visiting my girlfriend. She raved about how good these burgers and fries were, and that they give you peanuts and can throw the shells on the floor while you wait, so I had to try it. I had to agree with her, at that point it might have been the best burger I have had. I've tried a lot of burgers since then, and this is still near the top of my list. What's great is the consistency, I've never had a bad burger or fries here. The fries are almost better than the burger. They are freshly made. I love how they have a sign telling you where the potatoes were from that they used to make the fries that day. They also give you a ton of them, usually more than you can finish. My girlfriend thinks that these burgers are better than Shake Shack, and I highly disagree with that, but their fries are definitely better. read more

This was my first time to Five Guys after hearing rave reviews about it all over the place. To be fair, my expectations were to compare it to the big fast food chains like McDonalds and Wendys so there was no uber high bar set. Yes, it's expensive (over $9 for fries and a "little cheeseburger"). Yes, they do have those barrels of peanuts you can munch on while you wait (and they're pretty fresh). Yes, they do give you a cup of fries and then shovel more fries in after that. I didn't even get to eat my Five Guys piping hot because I had to walk it back to my office in the rain and then run off to a meeting so I ate it lukewarm and it was still FREAKING AMAZING! Really good burger and really good fries. I just wish they wouldn't put two tomatoes on my burger because it makes it squishy. But tomatoes are expensive and I guess they want you to experience the luxury all those jet-black Amex holders get to experience in life. I digress. Am I at one of those 50s retro diners that I went to with my parents in the 1980s? Checkerboard tiles, two toned, Huey Lewis and the News playing "heart of rock n roll" overhead. Cheesy, but fun I guess. Cherry coke on tap is a plus for me. Lots of extra fries in the bag even though I only ordered a small (oh, I mean a "little"). But the down-side is that there's grease everywhere! The bag has grease on it, they wrap the burger in aluminum foil which has grease all over it. I didn't order it to go so why is it in a bag? I have to reach into the greasy bag and grab onto a greasy burger in foil and from the start of my eating experience I'm a mess. Not good. The burger tasted really good and I liked having the option of selecting all of my toppings for free. The fries were not hot and tasted like they had been under a heat-lamp too long. Fresh cut fries are generally good but not when they are luke-warm. WAAAAY too expensive. $13 for a burger, fries, and a coke? Clearly this chain was started before the recession and this owner and his 4 sons haven't heard everybody is broke. Clearly the brainchild of an out of touch baby boomer. Came here on a Sunday night with two friends. It was empty so no lines, always a nice thing. For some odd reason, they had run out of cheese, so they offered to give all three of us free bacon. I ordered a double cheese (without the cheese) burger with a lot of toppings (they let you order unlimited toppings, a cool feature). Unfortunately, the burgers came out dry. please allow myself to review those restaurants known as five guys (fg); all establishments of said restaurant in both brooklyn and manhattan. the first item to note when you walk into a fg establishment is the music. aside from the fact that it can be a little loud, it's pretty good. they pipe in classic rock from sirius/xm which I could listen to every day. give that place a star (+1). next you order you food and there is nothing worth mentioning about this detail. its the same as anywhere else. during your wait for your food you have a couple things that need to be taken care of: some prep. first get your ketchup. fg has huge ketchup pumps for you to fill little jello shot cups. second grab your napkins. fg will add a couple napkins to your bag. the only problem with this approach is they typically put the fries under the napkins so the napkins tend to get a little greasy. next get your soda and enjoy the free refills (+1). fg keeps their soda machines in proper working order because of the fact that they offer free refills. i mean if that is enough to influence my decision to eat there, i can't imagine i'm alone in that thought. lastly get your peanuts. fg offers free shelled/salted peanuts to their customers (+1). the only thing that would cause me to give this fact two stars would be if we could throw the peanut shells on the floor. the only thing left to comment on is the food. oh yeah, it's good (+1). but that's to be expected. i mean just look around each and every location at all the accolades posted on the walls. this location offers a very narrow dining area. everything else is exactly what you'd expect from this great chain read more

I've been going back a lot lately and I've decided to add a star. The taste of the burgers still doesn't impress me at all, so it still doesn't qualify as 4-star in my book. However, the fact that they turn raw potatoes into fries and ground beef into a burger the old fashion way (meaning no ingredients that you can't find at your local grocery store) deserves an extra star. It is a much healthier option in fast food compared to god knows what they put in McDonald's food or the school lunches. If you even call that food that this! The second reason why it deserves an extra star is because their fries are not that bad. In fact, I am quite fond of their cajun fries; even though it is as simple as sprinkling some dried cajun seasoning on top of their regular fries. As a matter of fact, I recently went to restaurant that served the crappiest cajun fries I've ever had, so since this fast food joint beats restaurant quality fries, it's another reason they deserve a compliment from me. read more
