For a fast food burger it is pretty good. They are kinda lack on the seasoning - not only the cajun fries but the meat itself. Wish this place would have been better, and it should have been better. Burger was fine. Fries are mediocre, could be much better with a little care on their part. They stuff styrofoam cups full of them, with as many "falsies" in the bag as in the cup. What I advised other people in my party to do (who had arrived later) is to empty the fries out of the cup (onto the brown paper bag all orders come in, whether eat-in or to go) to keep them from steaming and getting soggy. The fries would be much better if they simply switched to larger paperboard containers than small styrofoam cups. Staff was pleasant, they act like they've actually received some training and are pleased to have you there as customers (unlike the counter people at most fast food places). Only sodas for sale, really wish they'd extend their menu with shakes. Place was clean. Piped-in rock music, but not too loud. I ordered the fries in the nyc university place location, it was about their 3rd week in business at this location. An hour later I was in Saint Vincents hospital bent over double experiencing food poisoning. You really don't think I'm going back there ever again and it makes me queezy at this point whenever I see one of their new locations springing up. By the way, the cajun type fries that evening were pretty bad. Service was inept. A lot of screaming signs at this location blare to the passing consumer how they make are the best burger ... A solid burger joint that is reasonably priced with burgers cooked to order. You can get any number of toppings on your burger for...the cost of the burger. That's right- free toppings with a variety of standards like pickles, tomatoes, onions, etc. It's basically fast food but way better then any traditional fast food joint like McDonalds or Burger King and they post their calorie counts for those keeping waistline watches. One order of fries is plenty for two people as they pile them into a bag and you'd be hard pressed to down them all. You can also get cajun fries- no extra cost for the cajun seasoning. Bleecker Heights Tavern is above and accessed through Five Guys. This combination makes for a good sports viewing experience of you are looking for that. read more

Yes, the burgers are delicious and come with toppings, but no, the Cajun fries are not seasoned that well and the staff is very meh. When we ate here around 8pm one night, they were already out of grilled mushrooms and jalapeños. Uh, you're supposed to be open until about midnight on weekends and you're already out of two toppings? Lame! The peanut barrels were also bottom-scraping while the Coke Zero was running clear. Despite the fact that I notified 4 different employees over the course of 30 minutes that the Coke Zero was not working, the best reaction I ever got was, "yeah, yeah one minute." Uh, no. Fuck you. I want my Coke Zero right away, especially when it's clear that no one even made an effort to fix the Coke Zero or give a satisfactory answer. Fuck you in the ear. I just stopped in here to grab a burger quickly. They were not crowded, yet they forgot the cheese on my cheeseburger. The employees who were cleaning and etc also seemed intent on making as much noise as possible. I know it's not meant to be a quiet place, but did you have to slam everything around? This place serves decent and expensive burgers and fries. The place is crowded, hot and sticky gross. I swear you can feel the grease on your skin. The burgers are made in such a hurry that the more toppings you ask for, the less of each topping you get. Also, the fries which were supposedly their claim to fame, were soggy and I wasn't happy. One of the latest additions to the tradition is Five Guys, with locations on 55th, Bleecker and LaGuardia. Actually, to call it new is not completely accurate, the chain has been around since 1986 and it did have one location in the five boroughs - but it was in the hard to get to (for most of us) neighborhood of College Point. Lately, though it's popping up everywhere and I couldn't be happier. It's a dietary splurge to be sure, especially if you tack on some of their yummy Cajun fries, but when is a burger a health conscious choice anyway? Theirs is moist and flavorful with a great squishy bun (I hate buns that stand up too much to the burger) and fresh toppings. The menu offers a regular (one patty) or a large (two patty) and an array of free toppings. Be sure to tell them all the toppings you want, they won't assume lettuce or tomatoes or anything else unless you specify. I usually add some hot sauce, which only heightens the eating experience. The environment (at least at the Bleecker location) is pretty clean and cheerful, particularly for a fast food spot and the food is miles away from the assembly line "junk food" of more typical chains. read more

I'm a burger snob and this place didn't hit the b-spot at all. The regular is actually two patties and you can put as many toppings as you want. Mine lacked the basic of salt and pepper treatment leaving the only the bbq sauce to flavor the burger. You've seriously NEVER had a burger unless you've eaten at Five Guys. The options are plentiful, the burgers are GREAT, the wait staff is kind, it's clean, and FREE SODA REFILLS. I'm actually a pretty big fan of Five Guys, and as they've expanded the past few years, I feel happy to see their success. Five Guys is basically a step up from Wendy's (I like Wendy's), and they have great grilled burgers and fries. I tend to get a Little Cheeseburger (1 patty) instead of the regular (2 stacked patty's), since I don't need to be that much of a slob, although I have had Regular Cheeseburgers before if I was super hungry. Also, one order of fries is HUGE, and you should split it between two people. This isn't just me being a girl, this is a seriously large amount of fries. i've only had five guys in lancaster, PA. i'm still an in n' out fan, but five guys makes a mean burger. they get bonus points for all the toppings you want. don't get too greedy because your burger will be a pile of condiments. i had me the bacon cheeseburger, grilled onions, lettuce, and grilled shrooms. i inhaled it and a regular cup of fries. don't forget about bleeker heights tavern upstairs. pair that tasty burger with a brew. you won't be sorry. read more

Good neighborhood burger - not my favorite because the patties are pretty thin - there is only way to cook them (med well), and you generally need 2 patties (the regular burger) if you are hungry. All toppings are free, and they have a wide range of toppings. Also, like previous reviews state, the amount of fries they give you in the regular (smaller size) is ridiculous - 2 to 3 cups full - it's too much to finish on your own, and maybe perfect amount for 2 people - I like the cajun style also. Le Parker Meridian Burger still takes the cake for me, followed by Island Burger (super thick burger that you can get med rare). read more

one unsuspecting thursday evening my co-workers and i all simultaneously made some horrible, horrible decisions about alcohol. the next day, with our eyes shaded, faces pale and hands shaking, we decided a group recovery was needed at five guys. it was certainly just the kind of food my hung-over ass needed. greasy, cheesy, salty. i wouldn't say anything was particularly spectacular, though. the place was also a little rough on the eyes, although i did see some employees working feverishly to clean stuff up. i guess there weren't enough of them to keep up with the crowd. the one thing i will say about five guys, is that they have a monster soda fountain selection. this allowed me to create my all time favorite soda mix (well, at least a close proxy). i LOVE putting fanta strawberry with dr. pepper. they didn't have either of those, but i was able to mix cherry coke with mr. pibb. plus, free refills. :-) read more

I find this burger to be better than both burger joint and shake shack but its not as "hip" and really not a place i would go on a date but the burger, if you want a fast food burger is really freaking good. Been to this place a couple of times both times on a somewhat late night. This is the penultimate burger joint no frills, no fuss, no muss. You wait on (what has been for me anyway) a very short line you put your order in and in a matter of less than 10 minutes you get a burger that was probably the normal thing in the 50's but is rarely seen in today''s diners, fast food places, and delis. The burgers are a nice size with plenty of whatever you ask for on them. Pickles, onions (raw or fresh) and too many other toppings for me to name here. And the fries.......forget it I really don't care how big an eater you and your friend might be, even if you've got two friends with you one order of fries should do. They heap the fries on ya' in a greasy good ol' paper bag(yes they still make those) that they also throw your well wrapped burger into. All in all, this place a a good time every once in a while spot if you want to chow down on an old school style good old fashion burger and fries. read more

The burgers here are better than Blue 9, by which I mean I can actually find the burger part. Still, this isn't a super burger place, nor is it worth its burger prices. I would return though! The stars here are the fries, but even so they aren't super, just extremely numerous. I got the regular, and there was easily a metric ton. I secretly love the fries at Shake Shack, and this place would get 6 stars if all the ten zillion fries Five Guys provided to me were of the Shake Shack variety. Can't tell the difference between the burger here and the one at burger king. Except the burgers here are around 1.5 times more expensive... yeah I get that they use better ingredients but still, this place shouldn't be compared to the likes of In N Out and Shake Shack.
