The food might be okay when bought in person, but we made the mistake of ordering in. The food was extremely expensive. It arrived warm and damp from the steam. It took a long, long time to arrive. Ordering was confusing and difficult. The order was correct, but not at all what we expected. I've ordered out at other local burger places and somehow they managed to get it here in better shape and more quickly. It was very disappointing. I when into the 5 guys shop at the river in Rancho Mirage. There was a man stand in the middle of the store reading the New Testament out loud without a mask. My son and I walked in without a mask and were told we could not order without a mask??? Now the guy reading the New Testament was ok without a mask an we were not...was it because we both were wearing Star of David and my son was wearing a Yamaha or was it this unmasked ""Prophet " has unknown power. I hated this food! I came here on the way back after watching the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament and it was terrible. We ordered fries and they weren't even in their boxes, they just scooped fries and dumped them in the bag. The fries were so salty and hard to eat because it felt like you were eating salt. So, I love this place their burgers are the best, but I'm not sure when we'll be back again. I came in 11 minutes before they closed, sorry about that. I really try not to do that but we were craving it and I rushed out of my job to get there. I was totally prepared if they had closed because it was late, but when I went in there there were a couple people in line, so I was like "Phew, just made it." I walked in and got in line and they finished with the one person and then took the order for the couple in front of me, but when I got up to place my order I was told that they were now closed. I said it's not even 10 yet and was told they were understaffed and closing early. I wish there was a sign saying so or at least when I walked in or got into line I should have been told they weren't taking anymore customers but NOPE. Instead they let me wait in line just to be told they closed when they just took an order. That is not acceptable and horrible customer service. I can totally understand the understaffed situation but let people know right away and also the manager walked by and told the employee to tell me that. He didn't even acknowledge me until I got his attention and asked why I couldn't order when the people in front of me just ordered and again I was told the same thing. I personally love Five Guys. Known for their fries and amazing burgers but this location, in particular, severely disappointed me. Customer service was below-par and the food was average. When we complained about how the milkshake, as it was quite melted once we received it, the worker thought it was amusing to make fun of my mother's comment about how runny the drink was. Just moved to the area and due to lack of burger joints, I made the drive here. It is located inside the plaza called "The River", where Yardhouse and Cheesecake Factory is, across from Old Spaghetti Factory. I was a bit confused when looking for 5guys since it is hidden within the plaza. Park in the back where the fountain is, near Starbucks. Walk toward Ben&Jerrys and you'll see 5guys hiding next to Bath&Body Works, across Forever21. The kids working are all smiles and there's plenty of seating. I like to take my food out to the patio and eat under the sun, by the water. Fries and peanuts are packed with salt so get sauce on the side when ordering. Grilled onions and mushrooms are perfect for any burger. If taking out, opt for online ordering or you can just take a seat and enjoy some salty peanuts. read more

Went there the other day. Burgers were OK. Visualize an "un-greasy" version of "In & Out". The staff was very friendly, intelligent and our meal was ready in a short time. So far so good. The reason I gave 1 star was for the lack of ambience. If you go there with someone and don't intend to engage in any sort of conversation; your OK. if you do, be prepared to shout at each other. The music (if you could categorize it in the broadest of definitions) was set at a level, both inside and out, at an "ear drum piercing" level. A couple of the people, that were in my group, had been to more than one of this restaurant chain locations in the Coachella Valley and said it was the same. I rarely eat hamburgers and the one I had at Five Guys was like a home cooked burger made with the best quality meat. The burgers here are really good. You have the option to put what ever condiments on your burger and you can choose between a regular size burger or a little burger which is just a smaller version. The little burger is enough for me. I love the little bacon cheeseburger. I would also recommend the Cajun fries they definitely enough to share. I would give negative stars if I could. Quite possibly the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Had a 1 1/2 hour wait for a restaurant near by and decided to get my nephews fries because he was so hungry. Which should be a simple fast order ended up being 25 minutes wait for a Lg Fry. The lady frying was on it. Yet we were still waiting. Approached the man at the register and asked if he could just get her to hand us be large fry. He said sorry and that were very busy. The little girl flipping burgers aggressively said you have a 10 min wait. Everyone has fries. The fryer baskets were full and our receipt for the fries ended up in the floor. At the risk of sounding like I'm not-picking.. the woman flipping burgers was using her teeth to tear stickers for the burger wrappers, gloves were on. Second time trying Five Guys. I must be the only one who doesn't care for the burgers. I don't think this place is as great as the endless quotes on the walls say they are. This place was great! The fries were really good and the burgers were too...but the burgers were incredibly messy and there was no warning on how big they would be. A good suggestion is to keep the foil around the burger until you are almost done. I learned this the hard way. We ordered the large fries and it was supposed to be enough for five people.
