(the tables are still kindof awkward - was afraid the door was going to hit the girl sitting at the 1st table outsie) The gal that took my order was friendly, the place is still clean. I'm still not sure why they have peanuts. I ordered a Cheeseburger and she asked if I wanted a double ( I should have asked... if that was because the meat was so thin) I ordered cajun fries because I didn't remember liking their regular fries and a soda. My order was $10.54. I went inside to get my food because I wasn't sure if they bring it out or what.... The burger and bun were better this time but, I didn't really see a meat patty. It was pretty thin. They gave me WAY too many cajun fries. ( I know this is going to sound weird) I'm complaining about too many fries! I had to dig the fries out of the sack that were on top of my burger then I saw there was a cup of fries. I sat the cup on the table and never touched it. This place don't even deserve a 1 start tbh. Came in on the 11.6.2024 at 8 pm. Food was garbage. I asked for jalapeños on my burger and ofc they forgot to put it on. I had to ask for it. Not to mention I asked for lettuce on my burger and they put a tiny little piece of lettuce. My husband asked for extra lettuce on his and they put tiny little piece of lettuce on his burger as well. I'm not sure why this is happening when u can clearly see the order details on the receipt . That just shows how incompetent and unmotivated these workers are. I haven't been to one of these in awhile, but I feel the quality has been consistent from what I remember. The menu isn't too extensive, and pricing can add up. I enjoy the free peanuts, although I thought it was a weird concept in the beginning, it's something you look forward to if you visit again. For just a cheeseburger and order of their medium fries, it was almost $13! I only got the small cheeseburger that is a single meat patty. When it came to the fries, at least you do get a lot but they were extremely salty and too soggy. The cheeseburger was a messy disaster. Both buns were soggy and watery and the burger was falling apart. Way too much mayonnaise! It tasted like a Carl's Jr. famous star cheeseburger. I should have hit up Carl's Jr. and got the combo for $8. Or better yet hit up McDonald's and get medium fries and a double cheeseburger for under $5! Quality food, customer sevice l lacks. So five guys for me is a solid 4-4.5 out of 5. Today I went in for good food and I got it. Now the issue was with the service, it was good at the start when I ordered and arter I waited. The lady called out a number that wasn't mine but looked at me. When inspecting to see if it was mine we inquired to the manager(or assistant manager, couldn't tell) and were told "oh you took the wrong receipt". Burgers are getting up there in price everywhere now so yea you'll spend $8 bucks just for this burger. I treat myself to their burgers every once in a while and it's always worth it. You get a ton of fries and can top your burger with anything you want. A custom built burger so it should be what you like. Updating my review today! So....after a fair bit of traveling around, my husband and I came home to a house with zero food! We are lazy as can be today, still in jammies and lounging on the couch watching golf. HUNGRY! Neither of us had it in us to even attempt to get food. Enter UberEats! As we scrolled through our options we agreed on Five Guys. There's always concern when ordering a burger for delivery but we took our chances. And I'm SO GLAD we did because it was awesome! This is my second time eating at five guys. The first time I was in Arizona a couple of years ago, before they hit Cali. We were drinking for awhile and hit it up. In my drunken state I ordered a bacon cheese burger with every topping they had!!! ### FIVE GUYS vs IN-N-OUT ### So, I didn't think it was going to be this soon before I was gonna update my review on this place... but yah, I went here for lunch today and they've definitely gotten a lot more organized and a lot quicker.. or maybe I just missed the lunch rush.. but hey, good enough for me. Let me try and break it down... BUNS: In-n-Out (IO): Claims it is freshly baked Five Guys (FG): Baked at specially selected bakeries My thoughts: Meh... it's bread! If you get it "protein" style... no matter... TOPPINGS: IO: Nothing really stated on the menu, you can get tomatoes, onions, lettuce, mustard, mayo, ketchup, and/or their special sauce...maybe others, but i'm not sure? FG: Your choices are printed right on the menu... shrooms and jalapeno peppers are also a choice... you can even get bacon on ur burger! My thoughts: I think FG wins this cuz they have more choices... and BACON! FRIES: IO: Supposed to be healthy...only one size FG: They have two sizes - regular and large... regular feeds 2ppl IMO, large feeds 4... AND they have two flavors: five guyz style and Cajun style... My thoughts: I've never really been a fan of IO's fries but they have gotten better... Cajun fries from FG is the f*cking bomb!!! If you ain't into greasy fries tho... you ain't gonna like FG's... OPTIONS: IO: As previously said, they have a hidden menu so your options are almost limitless, plus the names are fun: flying dutchman, protein-style, animal-style, 4x3, 2x4,3x4... FG: Googled to see if they had a hidden menu... didn't find one... so I guess it's WYSIWYG... My thoughts: Eh... no biggie... with FG, you tell em what you want on your burger and they'll do it... with IO, popular combinations have a fun name associated with em but it's not necessary... it just makes it easier to order... BTW, they both serve grilled cheese sandwiches.. but i haven't tried the one from FG yet... COST: IO: Reasonable! Double-double combo with fries and a drink is about $6? FG: Something similar to a double-double would cost you about $11...the burger alone is $6... My thoughts: Hmm... sometimes, I feel like spending $6 on a meal.. sometimes I feel like spending $11... just depends on how heavy my wallet is at the mo... OTHER THOUGHTS: IO has pretty unique flavor and their only found in five states, all in the southwest, so they're relatively rare... only available in 10% of the US... FG is expanding... and their flavor isn't really that unique IMO... but you can order online (or on their Android app) and then pick up at the store... IO doesn't have that option... I'm pretty sure if I was on the east coast, I'd be craving some IO... just like I'm craving some White Castle since we don't have that here... CONCLUSION: By the count on this review, FG beats IO in the size of their burgers, the choice of toppings, and their fries (unless you don't like the grease)...But IO beats out FG in price, having shakes and possibly being slightly healthier... and since we're comparing burgers to burgers the hotdogs from FG don't count for anything... So, to sum it up... it's pretty much even... it just depends on what you're feenin for at the moment... read more

The little burger (the only difference is the number of patties, I guess) was plenty big enough for lunch; I skipped the fries which were plenty generous last time: I'm not that much of a fan of fries anyway. Next time I'll try the "everything-everything" or "really, I mean ALL the way." I don't really understand the comparison with In N Out, it's an entirely different buger experience; or maybe I've just lost some of the In N Out romance in the past thirty years I've been eating there? The employees handled our food and order well and were communicative with us. I'd also like to applaud them for not throwing back the same energy their manager had towards them. So I don't know where to start but I was very disturbed by what I saw today. The manager, who was wearing a black shirt and a black hat was verbally abusing and berating his employees in front of a busy restaurant, FOR NO REASON. He was yelling his head off and screaming. I was sitting there for a while and heard the whole thing go down and was very disappointed and I very much so never want to go back there again. I don't want to eat where the manager thinks of himself as the second coming. Whatever your name is, don't take yourself so seriously, and treat others how you want to be treated. You made your company look like anything but likable today. Even after you disrespected and belittled your employees, they still respected you, I can't say I would've done the same. It took every bit of maturity in me to not say something. It was a VERY uncomfortable experience. I had 5 guys for lunch, what did you have?? Upon coming in, I could just think of the different jokes, but after putting all the giggles aside, I took a look at their menu. The menu here is simple and easy. They have the normal burgers, but their burgers are double stacked and their little burgers are single stacks. Just keep that in mind when you come here. They also serve dogs here and veggie burgers. They have fries, regular style and cajun style and soft drinks!! They have cherry coke!!! awesome point there. Another plus for the five guys is their toppings for their burgers. grilled mushrooms!! yum yum, and the best part is that you don't have to pay anything extra for the toppings. they also have different toppings here like relish, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, A1 steak sauce, BBQ sauce, and hot sauce. this place has won many many awards which they are surely proud of because they are posted all over the walls. seating inside and outside and just be careful where you step because they have peanut shells on the ground. This was the First time I tried Five Guys... Heard a lot of hype from the so called burger experts. So I decided to try it myself. The guy at the counter was very friendly and helpful with ordering burgers and the toppings because you can basically build your own burger. All the toppings are free you just choose from a single patty to a double patty with or without cheese or bacon. But the prices are pretty expensive for a burger, so I got a double cheeseburger with grilled onions and mushrooms with mayo and lettuce, and Cajun fries to share. I got the fries well done because I read a lot of bad comments about soggy fries. So for 2 double cheeseburgers and Regular fries it came up to $16. When we got our burgers it was wrapped in foil and in a paper bag. My brothers burger was missing his mushrooms and both our burgers weren't that well constructed. The meat was tasty though you could taste the freshness, toppings were good( the grilled onions were cut a bit large) the bun was a little soggy not toasted or grilled. All in all the burger was good... Not great but good. The fries were a thicker version of In and Out style fresh cut fries. The well done fries had a little crunch to them but they so oily and they drown the fries in so much Cajun seasoning I think my blood pressure went up with each fry. After my meal I felt sick and nauseous. So if I had a choice of In n Out vs Five Guys I'd go with In n Out. It's still a good burger ....but it ain't all that!!! read more

Lucky for me that my home is equidistant from Five Guys and In N Out. Today I decided to go to Five Guys and see what all the fuss is about. First of all, if you have a peanut allergy, steer clear of this place. But if your an elephant or just like peanuts you'll be pleased to be greeted with complimentary peanuts. Burger - I ordered the little burger which was tasty and messy like any good burger should be. Definitely the highlight of my experience but I find the $4.30 price tag a little high for what I got. Fries - Given the mixed review of fries,and signs throughout the restaurant boasting these spuds, I wanted to taste them so the fry guy gave me a generous sample of both the regular and Cajun fries. If you like your fries slightly crispy on the edges and mushy in the middle then you'll probably enjoy these. For me, the fries were just average although the Cajun ones were tastier. (As a side note, the cashier insinuated that the fries varied based on who was working the fryer. Hmm, consistently inconsistent hence the varied reviews?) Atmosphere - The mediocre to bad music playing was too loud for me. The seating area probably needed to be better planned as its a bit crowded. But there were plenty of tables open right in front of the bathrooms...uhh, no thanks. The restaurant was a bit messy, tables not cleaned off and peanut shell remnants about. Service - The service was awesome. All of the employees were pleasant and eager to please. My burger came out quickly. Thank you very much for that french fry hookup. Summary - I'd go back for another diet coke and little cheeseburger. I'll probably skip the fries though. Five Guys is ok, just like several other burger competitors. I like it and will go back. The $5 - $7price is a little expensive for what you get but there are plenty of free toppings and you get free peanuts to eat while you wait. The portions are not huge but ok. The menu is limited but the food tastes good. The Cajun fries are pretty good and are in my top 3 for fries at burger places. People are so picky about their burgers and I love it when people say the burgers are bland or have no taste, when they talk about a burger place. What were these people eating? Even if you just ate the burger by itself it would have a little flavor, but who does that? Order some toppings and put on your sauce of choice. People are passionate about their burgers, and I like Five Guys, Counter burger, elevation burger, smash burger, Lindy's on 4th in Tucson, and many others. These places are better and more expensive than Wendy's, In N Out, McDonald's, Carls Jr., etc. but you get what you pay for and those places have some good burgers too. Big-Juicy-Fresh-Classic-Different. 5 words to describe 5 Guys. Alright so the secret's out. I first had this nationally franchised burger a while back, but when the first came to SD I wasn't in too much of a rush to try it again as it's very popular, but when it comes to your backyard you have to go. I would have reviewed the one in SD, but found this to be more opportune. The burgers are a nice blend of fat to meat. The National Standard of 80/20 doesn't apply here in Southern California. I prefer a 70/30 unless I can get grated onions in the mix. I'm not quite sure what they use. Here it's not about the sides like most burger places, but it's about the toppings, they are classic all American choices unlike the more exotic and untested Counter .A lot of people compare it to In-N-Out, but it's really not a comparison. One is a fast food joint with very little options and was built on simplicity, speed and goodness, the other is built on toppings. The burgers here are much larger, not the fits in one hand hamburgers at other places(sorry In N Out, only kids get the regular and although the double double can be eaten with 1 hand everyone prefers 2, so yes that is a 2 handed burger, but it's a double also) make. Now don't go crazy here, most combinations with more than 2 toppings dilute the burger itself. Yeah you can put whatever you want on there, but the toppings accentuate the meat and the sauce accentuates the meal. To those who prefer more traditional fries to INO you'll like them here because they're thicker, more substantial and stay crisper longer. A few of you will be disappointed because it's not the well oiled machine yet, it's new, but you figure it's a national chain. It's not yet up to par with the other locations. A few of you won't like the prices being higher as it's not fast food, but the majority of you will like this place. Give it time, figure out your winning combination and don't be like so many others before you and overload a good burger ruining it with 4 toppings. Might as well get a salad at that point.
