After hearing about this fantastic place, or allegedly fantastic place, I finally tried it yesterday. I find it to be perfect for me. Really mediocre food at a slightly higher than necessary price with plenty to complain about. I went in for lunch. My initial impression was this. Loud and not too clean. The yelling out of the kitchen, or whatever you call the area behind the counter where people were cooking, was constant. Loud. The interior of the place was loud. The floor and table, even though the restaurant was less than half occupied, seemed a bit dirty. Blasting was Def Leppard almost drowning out the screaming of what I assume to be part of the show of the staff, but not quite. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger and little fries. The burger itself was small, or at least not large. Another descriptor may be unremarkable. It tasted like a less than average fast food burger. The bacon was two ribbon thin strips. The meat a bit dry. Nothing to write home about. I don't mind spending money on a hamburger, if it merits it. But this one did not, and certainly did not strike me as worth the cover charge. The fries were crap. Soggy, greasy, cut potatoes that could not decide if they were wedges of fries. Not a crisp one in the cup, just greasy and limp. 3.5 stars, I'm tempted to give them four, but they are a fast food chain after all. I got the cheeseburger, which is apparently a double cheeseburger. I love how much cheese they put on there and how messy it was. Definitely a tasty burger. Everyone is comparing this place to In-N-Out, so I guess I'll add in my 2cents. I have been here twice and due to training I won't be here again until May/June. But to all the California natives, say it with me now: 5 Guys is better than In-N-Out. I get it. In-N-Out is a staple on the west coast. Fine. When people visit, you take them to In-N-Out. It's like, "oh you have to see the Golden Gate Bridge" or the Charles Schulz museum. Heck, when I passed through Texas, the natives told me to try WhataBurger. It was just like I&O except in Texas with a different name, but faster. But since you have limited experience on what constitutes a quality burger by setting the bar with I&O, let me fill you in on something. The best burgers are cooked on a charbroiler or open flame of some sort. Their fries are amazing and cooked in peanut oil since it's slightly better for you. Hence my reason it's not 5 stars. Not cooked on a char broiler. To everyone reading this who have not given it a try based on some biased favoritism... Due yourself a favor. Go in with an open mind and in fact, have someone go to In-N-Out and do a taste test. You may be giving 5 guys 5 stars. Now someone tell me how great pizza is out on the west coast so I can educate you again. If you get a chance, venture to Sacramento and visit a DQ Grill & Chill. I honestly don't get what the big deal is about this place. Burgers are messy, buns are soggy, fries are meh, service is crappy, takes forever, and the prices are way too high. This location was clean & not too busy. I had my first burger @ 5GB&F today. I must say it was 1 hell of a burger, sooo tasty! My Order: Little Bacon Cheeseburger Fully Loaded with All Toppings. Really fresh tasting burger with all the fixins! 1 patty was a perfect size, I don't think I'd be able to finish a Dbl Patty! Reg Fries split for 2 with a side of Cajun Seasonings. I must say I liked it better getting the seasonings on the side so you're able to control your own flavorings rather than ordering Cajun Fries itself. I had a better experience today at 5GB&F rather than my 1st visit @ the Hacienda Dublin Location. Maybe because it was over-rated with it being new to the area, and it was just to hyped up & wait was long. Also, maybe because I had ordered their hot dog & not the burger during my 1st experience at the other location...So rule of thumb when ordering anything from anywhere for the 1st time...try ordering what's in the name of the business before ordering something else on their menu! read more

I frequent Five Guys occasionally not because their burgers are great (they're good) but because their fries are delicious and plentiful. Only four stars because their only option for a cheeseburger is bland, boring American cheese. Offer Swiss, cheddar, pepper Jack, anything as an alternative to nasty American "cheese". After reading the reviews I decided to give 5 guys a try. Some people hate it some people love it. I really loved the burger! I decided not to order fries though based off the other reviews. Anyway, back to the burger... I had a "little" Bacon Cheeseburger... it was delicious! The best part, my bacon was crisp. Once again, I have no idea what their food is like, although from the other reviews I'm just as happy that the ear-splitting, screaming cacaphony emanating from over-amplified speakers drove me out before I made the error of ordering anything. I actually did go inside - briefly - before fleeing. Don't their neighbors in this Safeway shopping center complain? Even if i wanted to go to Baja Fresh, the spillover from the "music" at Five Guys would prevent that, too. Yep, it's just that annoying. Does Santa Rosa have no noise ordinances? Another putoff: the self-aggrandizing, self-congratulatory signs all over the place might be more impressive if one could forget that Zagat's has also proclaimed KFC to be the best fried chicken in America. This place nearly lived up to all the hype. They have plenty of options for toppings,but I kept it simple with BBQ sauce, cheese, and bacon. I split an order of the cajun fries, which were very good. I, like several others was mentally comparing this to In & Out when I first entered the doors. I like that When you enter the establishment, you can see, front row seat-style the entire kitchen at 5 Guys. I can literally take notes on what each and every person is doing in the kitchen. I am vegetarian, so I had their vegetarian sandwich. It is AH-MAZING. I personally was blown away. I prefer it over the In & Out version. I love that all toppings are free. I got a veggie sandwich (basically a burger without the meat). And it was okay, nothing special. I like In & Out better. But it was a lot shorter line than in&out, so I'll be tempted to go again. I had to try Five Guys at least once. Unfortunately, it was really nothing to write home about. I'd like to emphasize that I never give 1 star - at least I haven't yet. So, I was told to do it right and get the Bacon Cheeseburger with the Cajun Style Fries. Sure, everything was fresh and tasted alright, but it was overly hyped up for me and I felt let down. I was trying out 5 guys for my first time on the west coast...I was happy that you could have all the toppings included on my cheese burger...but then I realized that I had to pay for fries and a coke! $12.12 for a meal?! Here's everybody's first mistake: comparing everything to in n out. Going in with a bias will only dampen your dining experience. I went in on a Tuesday night, an hour before closing. Walking in, husband and I hovered a bit in the back, trying to decipher the menu and decide how much grease we wanted to pump into our arteries. The guy at the register noticed our hesitation and explained the menu to us and was super helpful. Thank you for that! The burger itself was not as bad as everybody states here. It was not watery or bland - in fact, may be more flavorful than in n out. However, it is much greasier than in n out... But also juicier. Personally, I prefer the burger patty here than in n out because in n out has some thin ass patties. This, in addition to all of the toppings, made my burger experience pretty damn good for a chain / fast food. The fries have some serious ownage on in n out as well, mostly because I love the flavor and starchiness of the fries. No, they're not crispy, but damn so they hit the spot. Unfortunately, in n out fries remind me of chalky little matchsticks. Even their fries "well done" doesn't do much to compete with five guys. Overall, great experience. Went here on September 4th 2021 and I got a blt and girlfriend got a burger she said burger was good but my blt looked and tasted like a 3rd grader made it...bacon was burnt and on a burger bun...floors were extremely dirty there was food bits everywhere and tables and chairs most of them had food bits all over them too....fries were good read more

What can I say that hasn't been said by everybody this place is amazing. Five Guys in general is just a great place to eat at but this particular Five Guys has great customer service their shakes are amazing and pretty fast service. The guy at the counter was even giving us recommendations for which types of shakes we should try and gave us a discounted price. Went there today and was surprised the wait line wasn't that bad, considering it just opened on Valentines Day. It is more pricier then 'In n Out' but you do get a bigger hamburger , which has many free condiments to choose from to build that hamburger! The food is served in a paper bag which really didn't bother me. I ordered fries as well which were tasty in my opinion(if you order a large, they will give you a lot more extra in that paper bag). Comparing it to 'In n Out', I would prefer 'In n Out', but would try Five Guys again. You also get free peanuts(help yourself to the big box of peanuts). my biggest complaint was the LOUD music. My wife and I have heard all the hype about this place, so we had to try it out. First - service The service is pretty good. The staff is friendly and you can tell they're working their tails off as the line is never ending. Second - seating Because the kitchen is part of the place, there's not much seating, which is unfortunate because there's always table vultures circling, waiting for a table to free up (including us). When the weather warms up it'll probably be better since the outside seating area will be an option. But right now, with the volume of people that are there, there just isn't enough seating. Third - the food We liked the fact that there were a lot of free condiments to add to your burger, like grilled onions, mushrooms, lettuce, pickles, etc. and you can also add some jalepenos, bbq sauce, A1 sauce if you feel like it. I'm guessing you need all these toppings because as some other reviews said, there isn't much taste to the burger. We both stuck with a "little burger" which is just one patty. The standard burgers have two patties, which would probably be a little much. The buns do tend to turn to mush if you have a lot of toppings. I imagine if you added BBQ sauce or A1 it would be much worse. I just had ketchup and mustard and it was already barely staying together. The fries are ok. I think the oil isn't hot enough because they are a little mushy. I'm guessing this is because they are constantly running fries through the fryer so the oil doesn't get up to temp. Overall: It's an ok burger. If I happen to be in the area around lunch time I might stop by again, but I don't think I'll make the effort to go out of my way to go there. First visit, got the bacon cheeseburger with everything. It was easily a candidate for one of the best burgers I've ever had, there were so many good flavors that went perfectly together. The fries were average, but they were very fresh and hot. The floor was littered in broken peanut shells and the music was way too loud, but I will definitely be back for to-go orders. Well mixed review... staff was nice and the size of the burger was reasonable for the price... but tables needed to be cleaned... every table appeared to have grease spots and/or crumbs... nothing horrible but obviously needed some attention. Greasy fries so-so burgers what is all the fuss about had better burgers in other places

Went here kind of against my better judgement. I'm gluten-intolerant, so I couldn't get the burger with a bun. Regardless of my dietary restriction, I like a good burger as much as anyone. Instead of doing something helpful like wrapping it in lettuce, what I got was two pieces of meat covered with chopped cooked onions, mushrooms, wilted lettuce and about 1/4 cup of grease wrapped in foil. I tried to eat it, but it was literally just a hot mess. And not particularly tasty. I took it home and wrapped it in some suitable bread and ate it anyway. I'd say it was mediocre. Probably a step up from McDonalds or BurgerKing. Not as tasty as a In-n-Out, but more expensive. It was kind of like the flunky version of In-and-Out, and I'm not really a fan of them anyway. I have a feeling that most negative reviews are from "In n Out" folks who are in denial. Been going to 5 Guys since I discovered them years ago on the east coast. Always a solid burger and excellent fries..although I can never seem to finish all the fries they put in the bag. I don't go to this location very often, but when I do it's always a great burger. Yes it's loud, but if you've been to any other locations in the USA, they're all like this. Employees bark out the orders and yell when they talk. It's just what they do. I'll say right off that Five Guys is alright and I will come back occassionally. I am not the hugest fan of their burgers, but I really like their fries. The overall ambiance of the place is very much like In N Out (you knew they would be compared, just like all the other reviews). They do have more tables, but you still get the loud and crowded feel. I really want to like the burgers here, but I just find them lacking. You get to pick from a large list of toppings at no extra charge, which is awesome. The problem is quality. The toppings don't add that much flavor to a burger that is already lacking in flavor. Nothing seems fresh. My other issue with the burgers is that they are wrapped in a foil wrapper tightly so that they come out smooshed with steamed buns. It's just not something that I'm a fan of. While I'm pointing out my gripes with the burgers, please understand that I think of them as "alright" only. I don't think that they are terrible. I really enjoy the regular fries here. They are meaty and thick. In comparision to In N Out, Five Guys wins the potato catagory hands down in my book. Personally, I don't care for the cajun seasoned fries. Everyone has very individual taste in fries, so just try them out and see what you think. One thing is for sure, you get A LOT of fries. I do really like that you can watch them make everything while you wait. It's amazing how so many people move around in that small space to prepare your food. Overall, the burgers hear are really good. My go to is the double bacon cheeseburger with everything on it. The fries are always good. As well you can snack some peanuts as you wait for your order, and who doesn't like peanuts. The staff at this location are always friendly. Well, I debated between two and three stars. I'm giving it three based on the fact that the hot dogs rock. I ordered online to avoid the line. Two minutes after my appointed time, they called a name. Not my name, but one that ended in the same letter. That was the only similarity - I heard the other name clearly, so it wasn't a case of a garbled voice (the guy had a big, booming voice). After 5 or so more minutes, I went up and asked if the other name was really supposed to be mine. "Oh yeah, that's you." No, "Sorry about that" or mention that my food has been sitting around a while. Just a bit of bewilderment and attitude. Get to my car and open the dog. My bacon is missing. When ordering a bacon dog (as evidenced on the attached receipt), one expects bacon. I go back in and get the same reaction. Still no "Sorry about that." Fortunately the dog was really good. Split down the middle and nicely cooked. I wasn't in a fry mood, so no review here on those. You know, thinking about it, I am gonna give them 2 stars. Very cool place! Pros: Free peanuts Clean Very friendly staff Lots of fountain drink choices Small size or large size burger available I enjoyed my burger very much. I had a little bacon cheese burger and it was just enough to eat without stuffing me so full I could not walk. I did not care for their fries - BUT I am not one who enjoys natural cut fries from anywhere. I like very dark crispy fries so don't not try this place because I am picky about how my fattening potatoes are cooked before they go strait to my hips! They did not have ranch dressing, which would have been cool but all in all - cool place. People are comparing them to In & Out - I don't think they are anything alike, except for the colors of their drink cups. Not as gross as fast food, not as premium as a sit down restaurant gourmet burger. Price - for 2 of us with fries and 2 drinks was 20.00. If you think about it though, the only place you will get a burger meal for under 9 bucks is at a drive through fast food place so, it was fine. read more
