Our favorite steakhouse in Milwaukee. We love the old school supper club ambiance, the food never disappoints and the service is always top notch! It's our go-to for special occasions and recommend it to all of our family and friends.

We appreciated our anniversary dinner here the other night. We had time to enjoy a drink at the bar. One of my pet peeves though is they don't include prices for all drinks on the menu. Plus, the glass of red wine I got was a very light pour considering the price. C'mon, guys. However, the rest of our night was amazing. Our server was super friendly and attentive. We did get bread, salad and our French onion soup all together very fast. Couldn't eat fast enough and made us feel a little rushed. But, then we had some time until dinner showed up, which helped. The steak was perfectly cooked and great with the jus and mushrooms. Our server brought out a slice of key lime to share for our anniversary. Very nice gesture.

Upon arrival our group of 3 pulled up to complimentary valet. Then we sat at bar for cocktail time our server came over with menus we placed our order at the bar prior to being seated. This was my first time dining here it was an interesting looking establishment it gives vintage supper club vibes. Let's get to the food the Scampi was my favorite the steak was awesome! The house salad / salad dressing were really good. I love bread and the house bread was disappointing it was flavorless. My friend was disappointed with her Cosmo. I was sad because the bartender theatrics lead me to believe he was making good drinks. This was still a 5 star experience.

An iconic old school supper club experience! Feels like a step back in time, done in all the right ways. From the second we walked in the door, we received top notch service. The atmosphere is really unique; Christmas lights strung throughout and wreaths/trees adorning corners. We were seated upstairs where they had Breakfast at Tiffany's playing on a movie projector which was a quirky and fun touch. Our food was excellent; steaks come with a relish tray, a salad (which the server brings to your table family style) and bread. We all ordered ribeyes which did not disappoint and I'd say, was one of the best we have had in Milwaukee. Sides were delicious and generously portioned. Cocktails were lovely and although we didn't have room for dessert, we made sure to take some to go because the menu was hard to resist. One of my new favorite places!

I'm a big fan of supper club restaurants and Five O' Clock did not disappoint! It definitely gives that classic restaurants feel with a darker atmosphere. Our waitress was so kind and attentive all evening which I appreciated. We went for our anniversary and they gifted us a slice of pie to celebrate which was lovely. Service starts with fresh bread, veggie tray, and salad with choice of dressing. We also tried the calamari, which was tasty, and french onion soup which was delicious. I thought my prime rib was well cooked and full of flavor- overall really enjoyed it! The steaks are served in a lot of sauce on the plate just as fyi. Leftovers are also packed up by staff in plastic bags which was a new one for me personally. Overall we very much enjoyed our meal and would definitely recommend trying out if you are looking for a classic WI supper club/ steak restaurant. FYI- there is free valet parking available if you prefer to avoid street parking!

Excellent service from start to finish. Always valet or uber to this historic steakhouse, but well worth the trip. An old school supper club feel with some the best steaks in the area.

Old school supper club setting with amazing service! I was able to get one of the last two prime rib left in the kitchen that evening. I have to say meats by Linz heritage cut was out of this world. I will definitely be back to this little treasure in Milwaukee.

The staff is kind. The decor is stuck in a time warp filled with estate sale items. The food was pretty mid for the price. I don't think I'd return when I visit Milwaukee next.

My family and I go to the 5 o'clock steakhouse 1 to 2 times a year because this is one of the best places in Wisconsin to go to for steak. The steak is always tender and the service is always 100%. Great.

This place was definitely not what I was expecting. Was more pricey than your standard high end steakhouse, which was fine going into the "supper club" experience thinking all that plays into the price. We got drinks at the bar which were very tasty. Our server was quite awkward and kept giggling the whole service and just kept saying "oh that's really good" when asked about different items as though she had no idea. Did not know the difference in the different cuts of meat as we were asking. We end up getting a porterhouse steak and wanted to spit as that's a big cut and were told it was a $14 upcharge on an already $72 steak to split it even if we got some appetizers to split. When we go the steak it was supposed to have au jus on it, but instead it was swimming in a bowl of it which completely ruined any crust the steak had and made it feel soggy. The fat was not rendered properly. Probably the worst steak I've ever ordered. The relish tray barely had any edible components on it including a whole raw radish not even sliced? The place was nicely decorated to fit the old school ideal and the cocktails were good, but that's the only positive of the night.

So glad we got to experience this place when we visited Milwaukee for the weekend. I feel like it gave us the full experience - beginning with the traditional Milwaukee supper club vibe of being greeted, waiting and ordering dinner while at the bar, then being escorted to our table where our salad and accompaniments were waiting. The salad and bread were SOOOOO good. The peppercorn ranch dressing was the best I've ever tasted I literally wanted to drink it (IYKYK). We ended up asking for extra to go because I was so obsessed. Steaks were fabulous and cooked to utter perfection as you'll see in my pictures. Overall just such a great experience. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

Old school classic in Milwaukee. This is what we all wish we could find in the big cities on the coasts. The place is straight out of the 40s and 50s and feels just as vibrant as it must have then. I'd describe it as an old school Jersey italian steakhouse without the italian aspect. Don't know how else to describe it but for those who get around that should make sense. The service and hosting is over the top. The food is excellent. The prices are so low you feel like it's a flashback to 2010. The prime rib was one of the handful of the best I've had anywhere. The Christmas decorations up year round to the doorman who packs heat lends to its charm. This is a run, don't walk stop if you can make the time to drop in.

Ask the Community - Five O'Clock Steakhouse

If we had a group of 25 people for a birthday would there be some discount rate so we could all eat and drink at a lesser than 'menu price' cost? Just wondering, we want good but not expensive - not sure what we need to do.

THE BEST. hOW CAN it can be rated so highly by national lists and only be ranked 6th in milwaukee?

    What is the dress code?

Same as above, casual, it is an upscale supper club after all. Slacks for both women and men, I too saw people in shorts and think really? Some get really dressed up in nice dresses and men in jackets, not many but a few but it’s totally not…

For my steak, I went with the Australian Wagyu filet. It was not as rich as a Japanese A5, and more tender than an American Wagyu. Right in the sweet spot between those two. I probably did not need to use my knife. Delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, but not so much so that you felt bothered. This was a work dinner, otherwise I absolutely would have sent my meal back. The steaks were overwhelmingly salty--so much so that it completely overshadowed the quality of the meat. The asparagus was overcooked, the ramp chowder was just okay, and the dessert honestly tasted like something picked up from Sam's Club rather than made in-house. The drinks were very good, and the service was attentive and professional, which is the reason I gave this place 3 stars. For the reputation and price point, I expected much better. I would start with the red snapper which is a gin Bloody Mary spicy which was good but boring garnish wise with a string bean, shaved carrot and a thin pickle. The staff was excellent from start to finish. The menu has some very good items but I was there for the smothered browns which is similar to a slinger from the St. Louis area which I love. The smothered browns is crisply hash browns topped with melted cheese, chili, two eggs topped fresh chives with toast.. The smothered browns were so delicious and seasoned nicely with mild chili, just a great combination. The toast was excellent because it was a great quality bakery, an artisan style I like say with that nice chew like a sourdough. Overall this was a great upscale casual restaurant to chill on a Sunday morning having the brunch experience and reasonably priced I thought.

Chef-owner Karen Bell leads the way here, and you can feel her touch throughout -- from the creative menu to the casual-elegant vibe. The décor blends exposed brick and warm wood with soft light and a friendly hum from the open kitchen. Our server, Matthew R., had only been with Bavette a couple of weeks, but his background in restaurant management showed. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and offered great suggestions. Before our sandwiches arrived, we shared a cup of pork and tomatillo pozole topped with cabbage slaw and a dollop of sour cream. It was piping hot, bright, and deeply flavorful -- the kind of starter that makes you stop talking for a minute just to enjoy the next spoonful. Having read rave reviews of the Korean steak au jus, I nearly ordered it, but Matthew suggested the roast-beef with cheddar since I'm not a big lunch eater. Excellent call. The sandwich was divine -- tender, flavorful beef layered with melted cheddar on a crisp, perfectly toasted roll. The beef-fat fries had great depth of flavor, though I'd love them even more if they were twice-cooked for that extra crunch. Being more of a gin or vodka drinker, I couldn't resist the Gin Old Fashioned on the cocktail list. It was delicious -- smooth, aromatic, and balanced enough that I happily ordered a second.
