They all come on a plate full of dark gravy with mushrooms on the plate. The gravy is delicious with the plain mashed potatoes no frills the mashed potatoes soak up the gravy. Oh my God it was so good!! Steaks are done medium rare perfectly -- i recommend skipping the shrimp cocktail. The 5 shrimp are hard and rubbery for $20 --but everything else was so good. The salad is large. The dressings are delicious. The hot bread is good. French onion soup is so good. It's one of the best I've ever had... the tiramisu at the end, try it. You'll love it. We can't say enough great things about our visit to the 5 o clock steakhouse. Everything from the entrance and getting a drink at the bar to the salad service and entrees were all fantastic. The only complaint I had was that I ordered and ate too much. There's very few places around today that make you feel like you're going back in time for a classic, amazing dining experience, and this place definitely provides that. What a great place! Arrived early for a 6:30 reservation on a Saturday night hoping to get a spot at the bar for a cocktail. Was unable to get close and our hostess, Debbie, suggested she could arrange for our table early and upstairs so we could enjoy a drink while ordering. How great is that! Nick showed us to our table and away we went. Fantastic people at 5 O'Clock! Once we sat and ordered cocktails we skipped the appetizer and went right for the main act. We all ordered steaks that were prepared perfect for 3 of us and one slightly over done. Flavor was great on all of them and the sides were delicious as well. I'd recommend the crab filled mushroom caps. Probably the best value on the menu. Our server was attentive and prompt without making us feel like we were pressed for time. Coffee and a dessert to share followed. Once completed we did find our way to the bar for an after dinner drink. Great bar staff and mixologists here. We were welcomed by friendly staff, seated promptly and had an amazing server named Crystal (she made us feel right at home - one of the best servers I've ever had)! We went again for our 5th anniversary celebration and it didn't disappoint, this is a yearly trip that we save up for. I suppose this would be our 3rd time celebrating there to be fair. We always look forward to going here. We had reservations for 6:30, but they always stick us at the bar to pregame our meal which is a nice icebreaker. An old school dinner club atmosphere that I cannot recommend enough. We started our night with some classic brandy old fashions and waited for our table to be made. At the bar we waited and had our order put in. We decided to go with the seasonal mussels and crab cakes for our appetizer, some beer battered onion rings to go with our porterhouses medium rare. They come out with a great salad to start that had parmesan peppercorn dressing, bread and a relish tray. Then the appetizers get there which were nice, but I have to say I was not a fan of the mussels. The crab cakes were good, but the mussels were just ok. They were in this tomato white wine sauce that I think was overpowering for mussels and the mussels themselves seemed of lesser quality. We get the steaks which were amazing, so freaking good. They had the au jus and the button mushrooms that paired so well together. This is what I came for, the service was great as well. Once we switched over to sodas, our waiter never let our glasses empty. The owner even came over to us a few times over the evening to check in on us. They gave us a free dessert of key lime pie which was a nice cherry on top. We will be there again at least next year, the only criticism is the poor mussels which I didn't want to bring up because I know they are better than that. We had a great meal!! My husband and I shared the Tomahawk 32 oz Steak and a side of Mushrooms (I didn't realize it came with some Mushrooms). The steak was excellent and the presentation is phenomenal. Apparently some people want to take the rib bone home, but we're a long way from home so that's a no-go for us. The couple we were with each got the Fillet Mignon. Melt in your mouth!! The wife isn't a big meat-eater but she really enjoyed the Fillet Mignon. The ambiance is pretty Frank-Sinatra-era-supper-club, which stands to reason since it's been in operation since the 1940's. The lighting is cozy. The serving staff is attentive. There is no required dress code, so my running shoes and t-shirt were acceptable. We didn't have room for dessert, but the items sounded yummy. read more

This review should have been shared over a year ago. A very dear friend and extended family member was losing his battle with Stage IV Liver Cancer. Even though his docs advised against it, he wanted one last big meal from the Five O'Clock Steakhouse. His wife contacted them, asking if they could bring him in. While you were willing, his condition was worsening and made it impossible. I contacted your team about doing a carryout. At first, they explained their food didn't carryout all that well and offered to sell the raw products with directions on how to properly prepare them. I explained his condition and location, with no way to prepare the food. We were at the Cancer Hospital at Froedtert and it didn't look like he'd be going home again. I'm sorry, I don't remember her name, but a young lady took the order for rib eyes, baked potatoes, salads, asparagus and a chocolate dessert fit for the Gods. They had it all packaged up beautifully and in fact, helped me pack it into a specially made suitcase. To avoid problems with his medial team, I smuggled it into his hospital room. The salads were terrific. I'm not sure what you do to your dressings but they're the best I've ever tasted. The steaks were beyond perfect. Tender, juicy, smothered in mushrooms. Claiming it was phenomenal would be an understatement. The potato as always amazing. The dessert.... The dessert was wonderful. None of us had a dessert that rich in years. I can't thank the staff for the care they took, putting our last meal together. The food was wonderful and I cannot possibly say enough great things about the meal. read more

0 Stars for management and food quality, 4 stars for waitstaff, service was OK, however a $20 "Adjustment" on a $55 poor quality NY Strip that I barely ate and was thrown away before management review was not a good experience. My dining partners had OK steaks, but not stellar. "Average Quality" at best. I also had to basically argue about this not being enjoyable and being low quality with the manager. A good restaurant and good management would have removed the complete price of a bad item. The style of cooking steaks here may be different than most other places but had my actual quality of the cut I had been decent and not extremely gristly this would not even been posted. Had a lovely evening here! My wife and I had a somewhat late dinner here on 6/20/2020. Everything was just terrific. From the get-go -- and even with the additional challenges presented by the COVID situation -- the staff handled it perfectly. The service was outstanding with our server, Zarija (hope I spelled that correctly!) being helpful and attentive throughout. At least 2 or 3 additional people came by to check in during the dinner. I had the porterhouse and my wife had the NY Strip. Everything was spot-on with the steaks cooked as requested. I was surprised to hear that the owners are apparently the same people who own a very highly regarded Chicago steakhouse, Chicago Prime. Sadly, my experience there was not nearly as good and we have decided not to return there. Perhaps we just caught some people on a bad evening, who knows! Yet the owners really nailed it with the way they have run Five O'Clock. We plan to return here on our next visit to Milwaukee I can't recommend this place highly enough. Great food, great service. Great vibe and good food! Five o'clock steakhouse has a vintage supper club vibe. Once we checked in, we sat at the bar until our server came to take our order. We ordered a bottle of wine but the cocktails looked really good! Our server was super nice and gave us recommendations. We ordered the shrimp cocktail as a starter, I got the New York strip and my husband got the bone in filet. We ordered the mashed potatoes as a side to share. We selected the dressings for salads and when we were sat at our table the salad and bread were already waiting for us. The ranch dressing was sooo good and the bread was excellent. The waitress recommended to add butter and honey and it was delicious! The shrimp cocktail was great! Our steaks were cooked perfectly and were soo juicy! They were very big so we had leftovers! We then ordered the carrot cake for dessert and got a small piece of key lime pie on the house for my husbands birthday, both were soo good definitely recommend the carrot cake! Oh Five O'Clock Steakhouse I wish I lived next door to you! I would be there every night! The location is easy to get to. I've heard the neighborhood is a little rough but I felt totally safe. Valet was standing by and off we went for my sister's birthday celebration. Oh the history of it all... the room lost in time screams an era where a night out for dinner was an event. Dark and swanky, I was compelled to order a Tom Collins and my sister ordered an Old Fashioned. This quirky place has a system where you order your meal while waiting at the bar. Drinks flowed, expertly prepared by the savvy bartender. Off we went to our table in the mirrored and chandeliered dining room. Our server was even more attentive than the bartender. She was an ace with customer service and personality. In addition to the relish tray and warm bread, we ordered appetizers, steaks, fish and desserts. Everything was perfection. We stepped out in the back where smokers go. Although I don't smoke I was glad I got to see it, as it was set up with a fire pit and comfy atmosphere. Clarification: 3.5 stars. I just love the old school vibe here. I simultaneously felt like I was up north and in my grandparent's rec room. It's the epitome of a Wisconsin supper club. They've been here since 1946. Did we even have television in 1946?! Were we still sitting around radios for story time? That was a long time ago. Picture drop ceilings, wood paneling, mirrors on the wall, mirrored beer signs and many mid century modern decor items. I didn't vote for the guy but there's a photo of a very young looking George W. Bush on the wall which is pretty nifty. The food here continues the old school supper club vibe. Guests are given relish trays, bread sticks, a bowl of salad for the table, warm fresh bread. Entree sides are served family style. I found the steak fries to be so deliciously crispy on the outside and mashed potatoie on the inside. I wondered if I could stop by just for a carry out order of steak fries. Actually, I'm still wondering about that. Steaks here are charbroiled. Overall, the food was delicious. My apologies, I didn't take photos of the food or kitschy venue as I was dining with a group and didn't want to get roasted for taking photos of my food. It was a group of coworkers and now I'm "that chick." My one criticism is around customer service. This rating would be incredibly different had the customer service been different. I felt very rushed through my meal. As in, I'm still eating my salad and the steak is being served. A restaurant like this is an experience. Being rushed is such a shame and really changes the overall experience. There were numerous times and ways that my table was rushed, this was a theme throughout the entire meal. It seemed that because we were no longer spending money our dining experience was effectively over. Now, there are definitely things that they do to go above and beyond in service to guests. There is valet service available which was great because it was way too cold outside to walk any further than your car right in front of the entry. There is street parking but no private lot to park. This restaurant requires reservations and even has a sign on the entry door stating this. I didn't ask but I'm wondering if they still take walk-ins. I am not certain. Immediately upon walking into this place I could see this definitely had that old school supper club atmosphere. We were asked to sit at the bar and our server would take our order there before we would be seated at our table. I'm a water girl so not much to share on cocktails except that the bartender always kept my glass full. Our server greeted us at the bar, took our orders and then proceeded to prepare our table with salad, vegetables and bread while we continued to wait at the bar. The dining room was spacious with low lighting, as expected in a supper club. We both ordered the filet mignon, his the Kings cut and mine the Ladies cut. It was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. Perfectly prepared. The steaks arrived laying in an au jus sauce with mushrooms. The sautéed spinach spinach was good but not my favorite. When we made reservations they asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and I mentioned it was our anniversary. At the end of our meal, the server surprised us with a delicious piece of cheesecake. All around disappointing dinner. We checking in ten minutes early for a 6:00 reservation and we were told to take a seat at the bar. We refused to sit there and the hostess was very adamant that my husband and I NEEDED to take at seat and actually proceeded to FORCIBLY make us. She said our server would greet us there. We had no intention of sitting at the bar. Why you ask? Because I'm a recovering alcoholic that didn't want to sit that close to booze. Which brings up another couple of issues. One, we didn't get to our table until 6:30. So I had to sit somewhere which I felt uncomfortable for about 45 minutes. Second, the server interrupted us multiple times to tell us the status of our table that was occupied. It was SOOOOOO irritating. He finally just took our order at the bar and said salad would be waiting for us. I thought after that, the food would make up for this entire situation. Unfortunately, it did not. Our steaks were just ok. We've made better steaks at home and I highly recommend Carnivore. These steaks were not worth the money whatsoever. read more

My mother always preferred the baseball cut filet. I like my mushrooms and sauce (like Au jus) on the side. Our favorite appetizer was the shrimp scampi. But the Bacon sticks which is very thick cut bacon is worth a try. Not quite as good as Peter Luger's bacon in NYC. Still very good bacon here at Five O' Clock. We used to love this place. Food is excellent and service is usually top notch. Last night was a different story. Our waitress was very snappy and and seemed annoyed. She kept professional but not personable by any means. When we asked to split the check in certain ways she said "we can only split it in equal amounts". What??? We were 2 couples and 2 individuals, how are we supposed to do that!? I ended up paying for my own birthday dinner cuz she would not put different amounts on each cards. I have not experienced this here for our previous visits. I don't know if they changed their policies or she was just plain lazy but we will not return. Also, they seated a lady with heart condition upstairs and she was struggling going up and down. I'm sure they could've found them a table downstairs if they tried. Enjoy the dated decor! The bar makes great cocktails. My favorite is a whiskey old fashioned. They muddle the orange and cherry! After placing your order with your waitstaff from the bar, they take you to your table where a fresh salad is waiting with warm bread, butter and honey, The relish tray is full of olives, pickles, carrot sticks, radishes, etc. Their steaks are spot on! They have a char to them which people either love or hate. I don't care for it so I order it with no char. They are very accommodating. What really makes the entree is the amazing au jus! We had dinner here last night. The atmosphere is really neat and the service was great, just what you'd expect from an old school supper club. For the price, I'd have higher expectations of the overall quality of all our food. I will say the bacon wrapped tenderloins with blue cheese sauce is one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life. Our group also really liked the Thai buffalo shrimp. Everything else was just average. The prime rib wasn't very tender, and the fries, calamari and onion rings were just average. I had my first dinner at 5 o'clock steakhouse and the meal was fantastic! We started at the bar and were promptly greeted by Nicole who gave an excellent tour of the menu. When we were ready, we were guided to our table and proceeded enjoy many courses but the highlights were the biggest filet mignon I have ever seen and a gorgeous ribeye. This place is great, you shown up and start you in the bar(my first time here was for Work and I thought I should try and have those above mentioned 12 martinis, don't worry this review is my second time with only one martini). The bar makes a great cocktail, blue cheese olives always get me. Once seated the food starts and doesn't ever really stop. Relish tray, bread, salad, any apps you mistakenly think you will be able to each. I highly recommend the French onion soup that is as mmm mmm good. So the main courses the meats if you will. With the filet there are a king and a queen cut, so you know my ego goes right to the king cut. I consider myself a pretty big eater and I couldn't get close on that king.
