This isn't Jacobs & Co. or Alexander's, but for a "small" big city, it'll do. We had reservations in the dining area, but per our request, they moved us to the bar area to watch some games, which they accommodated. If there was something that really stood out, it was the service. Everyone was attentive and had a grounded vibe that I appreciated. The drinks are the perfect blend of strength and mixology, a rare feat. The food was good. Now that there are so many cows in WI, I wish they had more local prime options. I was looking forward to their Japanese wagyu, which was advertised as coming from a prefecture that I had not tried before, but it was sold out. Their "somewhere from the Midwest" ribeye did the job. Now, the sides...they're up there. The risotto and twice-baked potatoes were perfect accompaniments. And the creme brulee and doughnuts finished the stuffing process. It'll do what it does if you're into specifics and care about where your meat is sourced, and you can taste the difference between beef from different ranches; you won't be wowed, but it'll still take care of a steakhouse craving.

an amazing stop for quality steak and atmosphere. The staff makes sure your experience is top quality and worth the money. I got the waygu ribeye for the first time... and wow it was genuinely the best steak I have ever had. I recommend the caramelized Brussels and baked twice baked potatoes for sides! And I always get the crème brûlée to finish! Never have been disappointed with my experience here.

We had a solid experience at Carnevore! Certainly not the best of the best as far as steakhouse experiences. The tomahawk was slightly underwhelming from a size perspective and sides were decent but nothing overly memorable. Fun and swanky atmosphere and we appreciated the personalized touch for our anniversary! Service was great. Would give it another shot.

Visited Carnevor for the first time on my birthday and I'm so glad I did! The vibe was perfect and I appreciated the details of a personalized menu and complimentary dessert! Our service (from our server to the waitstaff) was five stars and everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks (the Milwaukee Street Sour should be a regular menu item - it was that good)! I understand now why this place is so beloved. I'll be back!

We went here for my boyfriend's birthday. It is darkly lit and the decor was tasteful. The service was great as our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We started with the thick cut bacon which was amazing! It was tender while also having a crispy edge. For my main, I got a Caesar salad with Mac & cheese. I didn't care for the Mac and cheese as it was very sharp tasting. I think it was because of the goat/blue cheese. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye and mini twice baked potatoes. He enjoyed both! They also gave us a donut dessert for my boyfriend's birthday, so that was lovely!

Amazing experience! Love the ambiance, the food was incredible, and the service was immaculate. Went here for our anniversary and we had a great time. I ordered the ahi tuna and my husband ordered the ribeye. I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything on this menu! Will absolutely be back. Best espresso martini of my life ! :)

Since our last visit, we have toured other steakhouses. Like they say, distance makes the heart grow fonder. We came back tonight to find the same great service, wine and food. Mark (manager) really took care of us and made us feel like family. We love the Omar Cabernet Sauvignon reserve. The last time we were here they were out because it's such a big seller. It's a very comparable to a higher end wine but for a great value. All the steaks were, again, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Service was impeccable. Ambiance was quaint and satiable. I would be here every week if I could. Best we can do is be here every month when we visit from California. Worth the trip every time. Keep delivering that unbelievable experience.

We recently went to Carnevor to celebrate a birthday! It was really good! It was also really cute they customized the menu for Jordan's birthday! All you have to do is email them and they will put whatever you want for the occasion! Our server was great! It was really busy and lively inside. The filet was excellent as well, paired really well with the truffle mashed potatoes!! Jordan also got a dessert with a candle. It was a really good date night celebrating his birthday!

The best steakhouse in Wisconsin. Hands down! Amazing experience every time. Book a reservation before you go.

I was genuinely excited for Carnevor. The space is gorgeous, the menu looked promising, and I had heard great things. But sadly, the experience I had fell flat -- and by the time anyone showed concern, the moment had passed and the damage was done. We started with the steak tartare, which was aggressively seasoned but unfortunately riddled with silver skin -- it got stuck in my teeth with nearly every bite. I gave up on eating most of it and asked the server for a toothpick. She returned and, without a word, dropped a handful of toothpicks in front of me before walking away. Not exactly the level of service you'd expect at a place like Carnevor. For entrées, all three of us ordered steaks. I asked for a medium NY strip, but what I received was unmistakably well-done. Before I could even cut into it, our server breezed by asking how everything was -- then disappeared for over 20 minutes. No check-in, no chance to get the steak fixed, just silence. I sat there, untouched plate in front of me, hoping someone would notice. Meanwhile, the sides were just as disappointing. The "cream corn" was not cream corn at all -- just dry, regular corn without any richness or depth. The asparagus was limp and soggy, and the crispy brussels sprouts were anything but -- soft, oily, and flavorless. Had someone explained these weren't traditional versions, I would've gladly picked something else. Eventually a busser came to clear plates, noticed I hadn't eaten mine, and I told him it wasn't good. He took it and tossed it without a word. Another 20 minutes passed before the server returned -- asking if we wanted dessert. At that point, my guests were finished and ready to go. When I finally explained what happened, I was met with, "Well, if I'd known you didn't cut into it, I would've come back," as if it were my fault for not signaling distress sooner. The manager did comp the steak, which I appreciate, but honestly -- I didn't come here for a discount. I came here for a memorable meal and a great night with my colleagues. I would've gladly paid full price had I been given the chance to enjoy what I ordered. Carnevor is clearly aiming high, and I saw dishes around me that looked fantastic -- just not ours. But when service is inattentive and food quality misses the mark across the board, even a beautiful setting can't save the experience. Maybe it was a bad night, but for me, it was a wasted one.

One of the best choices in Milwaukee for a great dining experience. From the moment you walk in, everyone seems to be on a mission to make sure you receive the best experience possible. Carnevor has been opened for quite some time and they haven't lost a step. On our last several visits we have had Diane as our server. She is so welcoming and personable. I highly suggest asking for her when you visit. I appreciate the professionalism of every employee there. They seem to really care about making your dining experience one to remember. In my experience they have always exceeded typical expectations. This isn't a budget friendly restaurant but what steak place is? The steaks are always perfectly done. Start your meal with the beet salad. It has whipped goat cheese which really elevated it. The surf and turf is a nice switch up from the usual steak. I have tried several of the sides, including risotto. However, I am usually so full a side isn't necessary. Order the donuts. They really are special! If you are local, you should consider signing up for the Carnevor Club. You get one point for every dollar spent. Once you get 250 points you receive $25 in rewards.

After many years of a visit to Carnevore, I finally experienced a meal at Carnevore. The restaurant is smaller than I thought it would be and dark inside. There was very little room between our table of 6 people and the neighboring tables. The staff was attentive and polite. The steaks were cooked well, even the ones ordered filets ordered medium (gasp). The mushrooms were really good but tiny. We ordered the steak Tartare, which was okay. I had scallops with my NY strip, which were prepared well. Overall, I recommend it. It has a cozy ambiance and good option for steak.

We celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary here. Whitney was our server and she was fabulous. My husband had the wagyu I have the prime fillet we had the mac & cheese with lobster and asparagus. Everything was phenomenal and we ended with crème brûlée and a very sleek sexy restaurant. We definitely will be back.

We started with cocktails, hubs had an old-fashioned and I had a paper plane. Stella's bread service was warm rolls with a chili garlic oil. Spicy! Everything we ordered we split between the two of us. We started with the Caesar salad which had the best anchovy dressing. Next was the grilled octopus with a creamy yogurt sauce. We could cut the octopus with a fork because it was that tender. For our main entree, we shared the bone-in ribeye. They offered different toppings, but we were glad we had it naked because it was perfect - tender, medium rare and flavorful. We chose the roasted carrots as a side and they were charred goodness. Most of those spots only open for dinner, so I was thrilled to find that Bavette La Boucherie now serves lunch. My friend, a local, told me the restaurant originally began as a butcher shop. While that's no longer the case, the space still pays tribute to its roots -- shelves lined with kitchen knick-knacks, butcher-block counters, and a display of local provisions that hint at its past. Chef-owner Karen Bell leads the way here, and you can feel her touch throughout -- from the creative menu to the casual-elegant vibe. The décor blends exposed brick and warm wood with soft light and a friendly hum from the open kitchen. Our server, Matthew R., had only been with Bavette a couple of weeks, but his background in restaurant management showed. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and offered great suggestions. Before our sandwiches arrived, we shared a cup of pork and tomatillo pozole topped with cabbage slaw and a dollop of sour cream. It was piping hot, bright, and deeply flavorful -- the kind of starter that makes you stop talking for a minute just to enjoy the next spoonful. Having read rave reviews of the Korean steak au jus, I nearly ordered it, but Matthew suggested the roast-beef with cheddar since I'm not a big lunch eater. Excellent call. The sandwich was divine -- tender, flavorful beef layered with melted cheddar on a crisp, perfectly toasted roll. The beef-fat fries had great depth of flavor, though I'd love them even more if they were twice-cooked for that extra crunch. Being more of a gin or vodka drinker, I couldn't resist the Gin Old Fashioned on the cocktail list. It was delicious -- smooth, aromatic, and balanced enough that I happily ordered a second. Great food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Bavette La Boucherie is a gem I can't wait to revisit.
