I made a wild & crazy choice....the Hot Pastrami Sandwich...that I've almost always exclusively ordered from Jewish delis (like Sauls in Berkeley or Langers in LA & Pastrami Queen in NYC) on light rye with fermented kosher pickles (except the one like those I had at Harry's Haufbrau in San Leandro) Any way ....what a surprise! Although not at all like the deli classics style, this generous pile of thinly sliced GRILLED smokey juicy meat with lettuce onions pickles tomato & just mustard on an oblong soft bun hit a homer! It was teriffic! As was David's cheesebuger even without the tomato?? (begged a bite) It's a neighborhood gem... too bad its a bit far but then again not as far as In N Out in Alameda or Pinole...will try the Philly Cheesestake next trip after I get released from the ER for cardiac arrest

There is no one in the place, there are four (high school aged) workers behind the counter. I stood there for a good minute. Not one came over to me. I moved over and got one of their attention since they were not going to come and assist (because you know, they were busy goofing off - there was no adult there). The order was NOT ready in fact, they didn't even make the fries. So they started the fries and I stood there while they were cooked. Why did you tell us it was ready when it wasn't remotely ready? I got my order and left, got home and realized the burrito wasn't there. I went all the way back and they said "we refunded the burrito, it's only served for breakfast" First off the menu does not say this. If it's only served during a certain part of the day THEN SAY IT ON THE MENU. Second, no one thought of letting anyone know it was refunded. Just did and went on about their day of goofing off. The people at the store there couldn't give a flying yahoo when I voiced my displeasure. The last couple times we've been here the service was almost non-existent and the orders are always messed up. And this was the last time. Management will read this and just laugh. They could not care at all. Time for poorly run businesses like this to be done.

Inevitably, distractions happen, so I've had a few meals where it has been either overcooked or lukewarm from sitting. I gotta say tho when the meal is on, it is definitely on! My brisket was dry and tough, with no sauce. The jollof rice was mildly seasoned but nothing inspiring or evocative. My wife's fried chicken was crispy and juicy but lacked any particular seasoning. And while the website menu says that combos include plantains, neither of our combos did. We called to ask about it, but after going through the answering service again, we just hit a voicemail. Our message was not returned in the following hour before closing. We will not be going back.

The sweet cream batter already gives it sweetness on its own, but once you add butter and syrup it really takes it over the top. Overall, a really good breakfast and definitely a solid option for breakfast or lunch in the area. They can get busy, but if there's a wait it's worth sticking around for.

The fries were good as well. They look like in n out style fries because I think they make them fresh in house but the flavor was fantastic and tasted waaay better. Everything tasted perfectly seasoned and fresh. There have been a few burger places popping up in Richmond but this is THE spot to go. Between the friendly customer service. As for the tenders, they were large, well seasoned with a dry rub, crispy and juicy. It's two days later and I am STILL thinking about my food which is a great sign. The chicken was fresh, but it was far too hot to eat and I actually found that it tasted much better after sitting out for 20-30 minutes. Not sure how they can improve this, but that's how I felt.

The fish was fried fresh and the tartar sauce was good, albeit in two tiny containers. I had the beans and rice and coleslaw as my two sides. I did wish the sizes were bigger, they were in big "condiment" containers and even smaller than Popeyes' regular sides. I did really liked the flavor in both sides. The beans and rice was more dry like Popeyes instead of being super watery at a lot of Southern places. The coleslaw had a few raisins in it and I actually thought it added a nice sweetness to the coleslaw.
