I thought that was very thoughtful on their end and decided to take their offer on it and get a massage from a different person this time around. I went back with my fiancé today and I received a massage from Steven and he got a massage from Danny. Steven's massage techniques blew me away and he was able to get out all the kinks and tightness around my neck and shoulder area. I have never had a worse experience with a massage in my life! First the man in the front was beyond rude and made us feel so uncomfortable from the second we walked in. I did the special yelp offer and he walked me in while being so loud and disrupting around. I specifically asked for a private room but it was just the public area. Then in the MIDDLE of my massage, he came and told me to stand up and moved me to a different room (still not private) In an almost yelling tone, Talk about a "relaxing" experience. My roommate and I decided last minute that we were in need of some TLC after a rough week. We called on a Friday afternoon and made a reservation for the 90-minute massage (60min body/30 min foot) that evening. We were BLOWN AWAY. Because we had reserved two massages, we were placed in a separate curtained area with just the two of us. (In the common area, you keep your clothes on, but in the private space, you get unclothed). My masseuse was Eric and he was phenomenal. He frequently checked in on me to make sure that I was enjoying the massage. The atmosphere was very calm and clean, and I noticed how every masseuse changed the sheets on the heated tables after every customer (I notice these things!) The foot massage was amazing and targeted areas I didn't even realize needed targeting! When we left, Kevin (I think he may be the manager but not sure) checked in on us and asked if everything was to our liking. And it certainly was. My back has been aching for some time now and today I felt like I really, really need a good massage. Seems easy enough given that there are tons of spas all over Orange County but from my experience over the years, expensively priced service in five star hotels don't always equate to a good massage and neither do those places that offer cheap deals. After reading up on places and reviews on Yelp, I called several businesses for prices and information, and ultimately decided on Five Star Spa. The receptionist was very welcoming and kind enough to answer all my questions over the phone professionally. The other places I called was lacking in over-the-phone customer service. My masseuse was Tracy. We didn't talk much which was great. From time to time she asked if the pressure was good and after a while, she figured out I was happy with the level of pressure. I hate it when a masseuse/masseur tries to make small talk when I'm paying for a service to relax and not talk. The combo I chose was $56 for 90mins (45m back, arms and legs, 15m neck, shoulder, face and chest, 30m feet). It was a heavenly 90 mins with Tracy! I don't want to describe every detail of the session but I will say that my whole body felt invigorated and rejuvenated at the end of the session. That massage was just what the doctor ordered! I loved it so much that I got gift certificates to give to my family for Christmas. I wish I had discovered this place sooner but that's okay because I'll definitely be back for more. This place is absolutely amazing!!! Everyone was very attentive and nice. Spa was very clean. I got the 90 minute combo special and it exceeded my expectations. My masseuse, Daniel, was fantastic. He found the spots where I was tense and worked on those. He checked in with me multiple times to make sure the pressure was to my liking and to make sure I was doing okay. The hour massage was done with hot rocks and oil. The table was heated, very nice touch! The foot massage was even better than the full body massage. Daniel took his time and didn't rush. The older owner is extremely rude. There has been two separate occasions we asked for a female masseuse and he gave us male. When we refused the male he yelled at us as if it was our fault then after pressed on the issue he admitted we asked for females but said he only had males. That's terrible customer service to try to manipulate your customer into thinking they're crazy and didn't request something very specific. I was so excited to try this place. My husband and I went after a long awaited night out. We signed up for the 70 mins body and 15 min foot massage. Both our massages were only one hour long. When we went to pay they have a notice that they charge 2.00 for credit card which I completely understand. However if we are paying with one card on the same transaction I do not understand the reason to charge 4.00 when it clearly states per transaction and this was one transaction. It's your typical Asian massage parlor that you see saturated throughout Garden Grove/Westminster/tustin areas, but right in my own backyard in Irvine! I'd need to try out their different offerings because it's not always clear exactly what each option includes and as everyone has said, asking specific questions in English is not really an option. It would do them so good to get a fluent English speaking receptionist. Otherwise.... I guess the other option is for me to finally learn my mother tongue. First time at this spa and first time experiencing a full body massage. Me and boyfriend walked in around 4:25pm and was kindly greeting by their receptionist, Richard. He let us know that there was a wait time and told us we can come by after 5:45pm (which was understandable). He then proceeds to add us into their schedule and tell us about the massage options they offer. We decided on Combo 1 (1 hour, $35 for head, neck, back, legs and feet). As 5:45pm rolls around, we went back to the spa. Initially we were anxious but excited for the massage because we both needed some knots and kinks relaxed. We were brought into a common room and then the massage experience began. My experience. My massage intensity was medium firm and my focus point was my right shoulder. Although I didn't catch her name... my masseuse was great! Despite being a tad bit ticklish and tense, she was able to really get the knots and tension out of certain areas of my body. His experience. It was great. Nothing to complain about. I'm ticklish at my feet but other than that a lot of tension is off of my back and neck for a while. I'm new to the area- I normally get massages in the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley area, so I'm used to massages in the $20-$25 range for an hour, but the 70 minute combo massage deal for $36 is awesome! I just ask "can I use the Yelp review?" and they've honored it both times I went. I called both times for an appointment- the first time was on a Thursday afternoon, and more recently, on a Sunday evening. I just called right before leaving the house asking if they would have room for me in 15-30 minutes, and they were able to accommodate me. The receptionists speak English at varying levels. The one I encountered on my first visit was a little difficult to communicate with, but he was polite and respectful, so not a problem at all. The second time, the receptionist, when I entered, immediately confirmed my appointment, type of massage I wanted, and preferred level of pressure. He also asked if I wanted to use the restroom before starting. (Bathroom, by the way, was clean and well-maintained.) Then, he led me into their main massage room, which is a dark room with calming music with 8(?) massage beds. The massage itself is fantastic! The therapists use a lot of pressure, which I like, but are also sure to ask you if the pressure is okay in case you want a little less. The second time I went, the bed I had was a little squeaky and the women in the bed next to me was kind of moaning a little which was uncomfortable, but besides that, it was perfect. After the massage, they offered me a cup of water, and then I quickly paid and was on my way. Great experience overall. Be sure to tip them generously! We get a lot of massages around socal both at high end spas as well as chinese foot massage joints, and unfortunately this was not a place we will ever go back to. Both my wife and I felt that the therapists were not well trained or receptive to feedback. A basic expectation is that the therapist will find and attempt to ease up any perceptible knots, but this was not the case- basically just paid for someone to roughly rub your back in a haphazard manner and also do strange things such as pull your shoulder blades out repeatedly which was neither therapeutic or pleasant. Which of course I left a tip of $10. On the table, next to the massage table. Just the negative vibe after the massage was such a TURN OFF. He said sorry sorry quickly after. But for pulling that after my massage it just leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth and gave me anxiety. I had a good massage but I'm left with this.
