Steve and his team were more than accommodating when I brought my beloved '97 Jetta GT in; that had just been smacked in the Mission (no fault of mine). Where I confidently believe most shops would have totaled my car (due to its age and mileage), Steve understood my situation and worked with me (and the driver-at-fault's insurance company) to arrive at a perfectly workable solution. I cannot say enough good things about Matt's Auto Body! Once again they help me out and save the day. My husband's car tires were WORN down to the last thread in less than a year. Bring it to a tire place and we find out the alignment is off. Don't know how it got off, but it is. Bring it to Matt's Auto Body and even though they didn't' make the alignment go off, they fixed it for me. No problem. No issues, no blaming anyone else, they just took care of it! And because we at the time only had one car between the two of us and were super stressed out with work and moving to a new place, they even helped me out by getting it done the same day that I brought it in. Wow. Just... wow. Our relatively new Honda Insight got rear-ended while stopped at a light. The car is about 5 months old. We took it to Matt's at the suggestion of our insurance company (USAA, who also rocks). They took the car and said it would probably take about a week and a half depending on how long it took to get some of the parts in. A few days later they called to give us an update and told us that the damage underneath the bumper wasn't as bad as they had feared. A few days later, about a week in total (so less than their estimate) they called back; the car was ready. I was apprehensive; it's the first time I've had a brand new car. I half expected that you would be able to tell it had been hit. Wow. Just.... *WOW*. I can't even tell that the car has ever been *driven*. Everything is perfect; I don't think it looked this good when we drove it off the lot. It looks like I took it in to have it detailed. Even the interior was spotless - cleaner than how I gave it to them. To top it off, when I went to get the car I was running a little late. They stayed open for me and after I signed the paper work offered to drive my car over to the rental agency 2 blocks away while I returned my rental. Great service, great results. read more

You might say "unfortunately" I have had occasion to need Matts several times in the last three years. BUT fortunately, everyone at Matts is super competent AND in a good mood!! I have recommended Matt's many times to friends - and they are still my friends! I actually enjoyed getting my cars worked on, great results, very timely and honest. They explained all steps, showed me the difficult damage to my car and in the end it looked like new. Very impressive even a year later. There were no delays that were not anticipated; they were patient with my schedule and totally compatible with Hertz (just around the corner for a rental). Wish I didn't need to keep coming back for body work, but driving around this town is getting much more risky. Someone sideswiped me on Masonic. This shop did its usual 5-star job on the repairs -- couldn't tell it had ever been hit. It was ready on Friday as promised, and Milton went above and beyond by replacing tire pressure sensors on the front (where one wheel had been hit). Hertz is just around the corner from the shop, and they will come to the shop and pick up the rental when your car is ready. Takes some of the stress out of the situation. read more

I'm thrilled to be writing this review. Best auto repair customer service experience in my life, period. I had dented and scraped the left side of my SUV. My insurance carrier recommended a few shops and I chose Matt's based on the other great reviews. I was able to drive in at my convenience to obtain an estimate. Steve, the owner, was beyond friendly. He explained how the process works with my insurance carrier, took my information and told me that he would follow up when the insurance carrier approved the repairs. Steve followed up the next day and we agreed that I would come in the following Monday. When dropping off the car for the actual work that next Monday, Steve was again friendly and reassuring (and even joked with my wife). He told us the repairs would likely be done Friday. On Thursday, he called to confirm the car would be ready on Friday. I picked up the car Friday afternoon and it looked FLAWLESS. Again, upon pickup, Steve was helpful and friendly. What's wonderful about Matt's Auto Body is the amazing combination of (a) top notch work and (b) excellent customer service. Dealing with the aftermath of any car accident (even minor ones) can be an emotionally draining and stressful process -- but in dealing with Matt's, I felt like I was in great hands! Great auto work here. Had to take my smashed car out of one body shop because of delays - so I got it towed to Matt's. Milton helped me get my car there, answered my questions, told me the repairs beforehand and was great about calling me through the weeks of work whenever I had a question. These guys were great! I brought in my truck whose steering column was totally destroyed by someone trying to steal it. It was a mess. I towed it to them and they sorted it out. Found replacement parts, assembled everything, tested all the parts to makes sure they work as they should. All the while keeping me in touch and telling me where the work was at and what was next. They were communicative, fairly priced, timely, and did an amazing job on my X5. Additionally, it's a metallic black color which is very hard to do and they did an amazing job. In the past 10 years, I've had occasion to take two crashed cars in to Matt's for significant body work. Both times, I was pleasantly surprised at how fast the turnaround time is, particularly when dealing with an insurance company. Both times, the cars looked brand new when finished. This last time, literally 12 months after the front end work was completed, I finally noticed that my windshield wiper fluid wasn't working (i guess i just don't clean my windshield that much). I went back to Matt's a _year_ after having the body work done, showed them my year-old receipt that stated that they removed the hood and disconnected the wiper fluid, and they assessed and solved the wiper problem on the spot (tubing clogged with plastic) and didn't charge me extra. They also didn't complain about it or try to insist that it wasn't related to the body work, which I really appreciated. I will definitely be using Matt's for all body work in the future. read more

This past August, with no warning at all, a huge branch from an old Cypress tree dropped onto the back of my jeep wrangler, crushing the hardtop and crumpling the body at the rear. Other than that it still worked OK (except that the rear lights were gone) so I drove the jeep to a few auto body repair places for repair estimates. All advised me that my insurance company would probably declare it a write-off but as I don't have damage insurance I figured I'd see if it could be repaired for a reasonable price. Matt's Auto Body stands out from its competition in a lot of ways. First, rather than the dirty oil-stained and scrap-littered yard you see in typical auto body shops, Matt's facility is spotless and very well organized. You get the impression that nothing here is lost or forgotten. I dealt with Milton, who is professional and thorough. Matt's was the best bid I got on the repair (and certainly the most detailed) and they mostly stuck to their estimate for the final work -- the price went up about 15% because they took the trouble to locate an exact match for my (out of production) hard top (even though they had originally warned me that they would probably not be able to do this). They called me first to ask if I wanted to pay the up-charge to get it and I was very happy to do so -- they even ate a bit of their markup to make the price more reasonable. They finished the work on-schedule and the Jeep looks amazing -- like nothing bad ever happened to it. It was of course also spotless, shiny, and looked better than it had in years. I hope to never *need* to use their services again but if I do, they will be my first stop. read more

I took my car in for a bumper repair and they drove my car 448 miles. I left my car there for a week. When I call the shop, the owner, Milton denies everything. He claim the mileage that I wrote down was wrong and they have a lot of other cars around his shop. How can you explain that? Remember to confirm mileage with the owner when you drop off your car. You can't rely on them for being honest!!! read more

Had an accident denting the right rear panel of my car. Took it Matts and was unhappy with ther result. A second opinion from a different body shop revealed that Matt's is well regarded locally and that the repair, although not perfect, was not totally shotty either. When confronted the manager, John Rodriguez, opined that I had a case but that the outcome of any additional work they could perform would not be much better than the current result. He was willing to refund me $ 500 of my deductible. My insurance company, USAA, which rocks, had encouraged them to do so. That attests to their desire to make things right but it does not make the job perfect. read more

Had them fix our car after my wife was rear-ended. Insurance took care of the money, and Matt's provided excellent customer service and follow through. They had the vehicle less than 2 days and had it done earlier than promised. For that I would normally give someone 4 stars since I believe that kind of service should be the standard (though we all know it's not), but I gave them an extra star for detailing the car inside and out! What!?! Who does that anymore? We had planned on getting it washed that weekend because it was filthy, so we were ecstatic that they had done it for us! Wow, what can I say other than do not take your car anywhere else in the city. I got side ended by a sleepy driver pulling out of her parking spot in the morning (ugh) and I chose Matt's autobody to get my car fixed (my mechanic recommended them to me). Avoid these fraudsters. Had my 4Runner repaired there after an accident 6 years ago. The front bumper they installed started rusting within 18 months. The paint work on the hood also started to chip and peel shortly later. But it was a daily driver I park on the street and intended to trade in on a new truck soon, so it wasn't worth the hassle to complain. Fast forward to today. I never traded the truck since it's been bulletproof. Another front end fender-bender recently revealed that they not only used a cheap replacement bumper (rusted completely now from the inside out), but they also completely failed to replace the underlying bumper reinforcement bar. When a friend pulled the mangled bumper off to replace it for me, we realized the reinforcement bar is just not there! This could have been a HUGE safety issue had I been in a more significant accident, causing extensive damage to the air conditioning, radiator and frame components -- and completely compromising the airbag system. They billed my insurance company $2700+ for body and paint repairs -- and apparently did nothing else but inferior paint prep followed by slapping on a cheap $100 Chinese bumper face plate. We took our Mini Cooper to Matt's after my husband drove over part of a big rig tire on the freeway (he had NO choice but to run it over!) My friends had taken their Mini to Matt's and highly recommended the shop to us. Matt's worked well with our insurance company and got the repairs done in 10 calendar days! I rarely give places 5 stars, but after the trouble I had with Lofrano's & Sons, Matt's Auto Body was a godsend. My car got hit by some idiot trying to quickly change lanes, and it sandwiched my car between his and a parked car, damaging the front drivers side and the whole passenger side. I called USAA, they referred me to Lofrano's in the Mission. You can read my 1 start review for that shop if you'd like. So after 5 visits and my car not being fixed, USAA suggested Matt's a few blocks from where I live. When I went in, the place was spotless, very spacious, and clean. My remaining issues were alignment, a piece of the window that kept popping out, and runs in the paint left from the shop before. Milton was extremely professional and knowledgeable. What I liked the best was he wasn't pushy and gave me options. He said I could take it back again to the other shop if I wanted for one last try, but if I wanted, he'd take care of me. On the spot, he said he'd order a piece just in case I came back, which I did! He also did a whole inspection on the car pointing out little things like the paint job having dirt and not being polished. He even put some gas in the car since I was almost on E, and drove me to enterprise to get the rental. He called to follow up on any updates too. After I left my car there (only once unlike the 5 at the other place) EVERYTHING was fixed. The car was finally aligned! My paint was spotless and shiny as ever. He fixed my window, and told me he had to replace the left suspension, put two new tires on, and a ton of other things the other shop didn't do the 5 times I took it there. Almost $2000 in extra work had to be done. Glad I wasn't paying for it! All in all, I wish I wouldve taken it here from the beginning. USAA referred me after the rear-window to the station-wagon was smashed in to steal my bike and Zooter scooter. Though unable to replace the window before the rest of my 3 day stay ended, the shop vacuumed out the glass, taped the edges of the window frame to prevent cuts from loose glass, and installed crash-plastic over the window to seal the hole and prevent fumes from coming back into the vehicle while driving on the highway. Since this happened at the beginning of my "Spring Break" vacation to the city, the manager permitted me to leave the vehicle in the shop for 1 1/2 days. What further took the sting out of the theft - all of the work was complimentary. Thank you. It is quite understandable why your shop has such a great reputation. read more

I have a classic car a large Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham but I don't have a garage and I live near a high school. I've had my car vandalized on several occasions. Every time I bring my car in, Milton is so pleasant and respectful and treats my car with such care it always comes out looking like the damaged never happened. He is an expert and perfectionist. I am always amazed at the work quality and reasonable price he charges. I think he cleans off the car too because it always looks cleaner than when I bring it in.
