Someone crossed into a protected lane and merged into me causing damage to my 2011 VW Jetta's left mirror, front panel, tire and rim, headlight and bumper. So I reached out to Tony's since it had great reviews, they are in network with AAA, and it was closest to my home. When you drop by for a consult, I recommend pulling over in the side street or directly in the shop (if there's room) since street parking might be hard to find. When I dropped in, Ivan answered all 38297 of my questions and was very patient, honest, knowledgeable, and reassuring. Customer service from Ivan and Ed in person and over the phone was excellent from start to finish. If you're looking for a quick service, this might not be the best fit since their services are in high demand and they get booked out. I had to wait a couple weeks to bring my car in due to their busy schedule, the holidays, and waiting for parts to ship to their shop. However, it was worth it due to the quality work they do. If you're also looking for a lot of mechanical work, this MIGHT not be the shop for you either (but be sure to ask). I say this because they specialize in body work and might need to outsource some services. But they're well-connected and will get the work done! They use an app and texting to keep you posted on the status of your service. However, I found that calling was the best way to get an accurate update. They passed the estimated completion date by a day or two, but offered a fair explanation since there was unexpected internal damage and parts needed. Overall, this was a nerve wracking experience since I was worried my car would be totaled, but Ivan and Ed eased my nerves and did impeccable work - my car was looking brand new! If you are looking for an auto shop that goes by the book, Tony's collision center is NOT for you. Ed and his excellent team who previously ran the shop no longer work there, and the way the new management handled my recent interaction with them was completely backwards and illogical. When I confronted them about it, I was lectured and blamed by the manager for everything she perceived I (as the customer) did wrong. To sum up my experience, I brought my car in last week because the right front door panel that had previously been replaced and repaired by the shop had started sticking out again. I had been told by the previous shop owner that the area was under lifetime warranty and that if it had any issues in the future, to just bring it back in for a covered repair. When I arrived, I was told by the manager who walked around my car and looked at the area that the repair would be covered by the insurance company via a supplement to the original claim. They for some unknown reason submitted a preliminary estimate to my insurance company via their sister company, "Amazon Collision Center." The insurance company submitted a payment to them and sent the confirmation to the email address listed (amazonautobody@gmail.com). Without having received this confirmation or an authorization for repair from the insurance company (because it went to the alternate shop's address), Tony's Collision Center went ahead and scheduled the work today and did the repair. They never called me to let me know that there were any issues with the insurance coverage or that they found other damage to the right front bumper that suggested the panel sticking out was not related to the original repair. I called several times to inquire about the status of the repair. The first time they told me they would call me back in a few minutes but didn't. The second time they told me that the repair was done. There was no mention of anything else. When I arrived to pick up my car, the manager pointed to some other areas of damage on the car and told me that the part sticking out was my fault and that I was responsible for the payment. I asked what the status of the supplemental claim was, and the manager said it was still pending. They had not even sent photos of the other areas of damage to the insurance company yet but were telling me that the insurance would deny it due to being unrelated to the original repair and that I had to pay. This immediately sent up a red flag in me and I was legitimately worried about being scammed. She refused to call the insurance company or to provide me with any documentation of the repair that had been done (I like to keep records of any work done on my car). When I refused to pay, the manager told me she would just cover the cost herself. I immediately called my insurance company and spoke with the claim adjustor who told me they authorized the repair last week and already sent the payment. I then asked them to speak with the manager to let them know that. Instead of apologizing for the miscommunication and for asking me to pay for something that was already paid for by my insurance company, she lectured me for 10 minutes about everything I did wrong, repeating that the damage was "your fault." I would have been happy to pay for the damage incurred by me and unrelated to the prior repair if they had submitted the correct information to the insurance company and the insurance company had come back and refused the authorization to repair. However, this is not at all what happened. They went ahead and did work on my car without knowing that it was paid for by my insurance and without getting my authorization, and then tried to get me to pay out of pocket for something I didn't owe. It is unfortunate how lacking they are in communication skills (with both insurance companies and their customers), customer service, and basic management principles of their auto shop. read more

This shop is no longer Tony's Collision Center of years past. Tony sold the business, although they will tell you that Tony only comes in sometimes and is still the owner. During my five visits, they did not even do any work in the SF location. They use a sister shop in San Bruno; it's in the fine print of some documents they have you sign in--total bait and switch. The quality of the work was amateurish at best. The paint job was not finished on the inside of the door jam; it felt like sandpaper, tape marks remained around the windows, and parts were incorrectly reassembled. Here is the best for last: they dented the inside of my door jam and claimed it was their prior. WTF?! It's a good thing the insurance adjuster has all the photos prior. After pointing out all the issues, they were willing to fix the car, and this was a small job. No, thank you! They will never go near my car again; if you are smart, you should let them, either. I told them they could eat the deductible, and they did. I just wanted the work done professionally like the old Tony's. Buyer beware! Who ruins a brand new car by themselves? Moi! *sigh* I did not see that pole, I swear! After calling my insurance provider, my rep offered a list of recommended body shops in my area. I called Tony's and asked if I could stop in to get an estimate on a repair. I'd backed into a pole and dented the rear driver side of my car. The bumper needed replacing as well as the rear lights. Although I was 5 minutes away, Ed greeted me as if I had made an appointment days in advance. He and owner Tony provide the most polite service I have encountered in a male dominated environment. Most mechanics, or body shop owners are brute, grumpy and not polite. These two changed my perception. They've been in the business for over 25 years, so I trust they know what they're doing. Tony and Ed maintain a clean, organized, efficiently run shop, equipped with every tool and hydraulic works required to return your car to brand new condition. There is even an enclosed commercial paint space. After I delivered my car for repair, I was given a time frame of when I could expect my car to be finished. They were men of their word and my car was ready as promised. My car was literally off-the-lot fresh! There was no sign of my idiot maneuver. My 21 year old vintage Volvo looks BE-U-TI-FUL!! Tony's Collision Center did a SUPERB job - they not only saved my original fender, took the dent out of it, repainted it, blended it with the door, put on new pin striping, - they ALSO polished and DETAILED my ENTIRE car. (even vacuumed the interior and polished all the windows.) It shines! Between the detailing and fixing several other things besides the fender, they did work that would have cost several hundred dollars to have done separately. It all started with the 'sccrrraaaape' and 'screeeech' sounds as the garage door came down on the back of my beloved Audi A3 one terrible afternoon. The result: multiple deep and serious vertical lines where there used to be paint on the trunk door and bumper.. plus, two of the rings on the logo sliced right off and not to mention, my heart breaking into a million pieces. A few days later I managed to back up into a little post that I swear to god came out of nowhere. Smashed the tail-light on my two-ring audi or just my 'Au' as some would call it. Awesome. Seeing it all as a sign, the next day I called up Geico and they told me to go to Tony's Imported Body Shop to have them fix my car for the damages caused by the first accident. At first impression, the shop is eerily quiet and immaculately clean, which made me a little suspicious and unsure if it was really a repair shop since most shops I've been to are noisy, greasy and dark. Turns out they do the painting next door and they just store the cars in the area by the office. Don't be scared. Ed Navarro was really friendly and helpful. I mean, no attitude, no cheesy sales pitches or trying to get me to fix more things than I needed- He's just like 'Yep, No problem. We'll get it fixed'. I decided to pay separately to get the tail light fixed and he gave me a very reasonable quote. Let me tell you, I almost didn't recognize my car when I went to pick it up. They fixed EVERYTHING! There were other nicks, dings, bumps and scratches totally unrelated to the garage door accident... ALL GONE. They even washed it and buffed it all shiney. I have a brand new car. Not only did they fix everything. Ed also left out the labor costs for the tail light so I only had to pay for the part. Who does that?! My brand new Prius got into a freak accident and the front corner of my car ended up scattered on the freeway and there were wires hanging out. It was ugly. You'd never know that anything happened when you look at my car though. They fixed the body up and got all my sensors working again. The repair took longer than expected but I got frequent updates from Ed. They were respectful with my car and my belongings. I didn't end up with extra damage to the interior or exterior, which I've experienced with other repair shops. They also offer a 10% Yelp checkin discount, which I was able to use for my repair. I had taken my car to two other places for an appraisal on repairing my autobody damage before I found Ed Navarro at Tony's. Warm and friendly, Ed at Tony's Imported assessed my car in record time, didn't try to sell me anything unnecessary, and provided me with a thorough estimate. Before I brought the car in, he ordered the parts to cut down on the wait time. My car was finished exactly when they said it would be, it looked like new and they even vacuumed the interior. And, the total charge was lower than the estimate, amazing! The only minor complaint I have is when they removed and replaced the HOV stickers on my prius, they placed one in the wrong spot. The side of my new Subaru was keyed. 2 months after I bought it. How annoying is that? Before I talked to my insurance I took it to a few body shops to get an idea of whether it could just be buffed out or if it was going to be a total repaint of the side. Tony's (and Ed in particular) was recommended to me by a friend who had had a lot of work done on his Subaru. They had one of the more reasonable estimates, and more importantly Ed's customer service and overall professionalism was miles beyond anyone else. He explained simply but effectively exactly what they were going to do, and why they were going to do it. I really appreciated him taking the time to do that rather than just writing up an estimate and sending me on my way. My insurance is State Farm and they are not on State Farm's "preferred" list but it was very easy to schedule the appointment with the adjuster. It's definitely worth the extra phone call or two to set it up, and Ed dealt with the adjuster and the insurance so all I had to do was show up at the end and pay my deductible. They seemed pretty busy there but they still managed to get my car done in about 4 business days even though they had to wait on a couple parts (taillight and rock guard) and it was left over the Thanksgiving weekend.
