So glad I stumbled across this place after getting coffee next door! All I needed were the turn signal bulbs replaced on my Chevy Volt. Seems like a simple job, yet I have been calling around and bringing my car everywhere and somehow no one is capable of changing them for me. I had become very frustrated thinking I'd never be able to get them changed. One shop told me I don't have front turn signals and that the only turn signals are the ones on the side mirrors (turns out it has both). Ijust got the car from Shift so they were willing to reimburse up to $150 but the Chevy dealership charges way more. I guess there is a lot that needs to be removed to get into the lights. Anyway, it was a simple job for this shop. 1/3 what it would cost at the dealership and took only 20 minutes. I was so relieved someone was finally willing to help me. I'm fairly annoyed with Shift for making me find someone myself, but that's beside the point. From my experience I feel that this shop is versatile and able to figure out any type of car even if they haven't worked on it before. This review is late but based off of me going to this place for six years. I am a woman who knows very little about cars but is also very weary of being ripped off and over the years I've ended up doing a lot of research on body work and gotten quotes from many a body shop as my Prius has been under attack in SoCal. I've used FixCarNow for body work multiple times and regular maintenance. Their service is consistent and professional. The use of the loaner car ends up saving a lot of $. When I moved to OC I thought I needed to find a new bodyshop, and ended up getting both sides of my car scraped along with the usual Prius tax of having the plastic undercarriage come out. I spent 5 hours running around OC a few months ago getting various quotes from five different places. The range of prices provided to me was ridiculous and the only place that had more competitive pricing than FCN was essentially saying they wouldn't blend the paint, which no body shop should ever offer. Instead of paying $2,500, I decided to give my old heroes a call. I knew before calling FixCarNow what they would charge me and I was correct. I ended up saving about $1000 from them and felt confident they'd take good care of me. They worked with me given that I couldn't get back up to LA during the week. Yes, the people working there are people, and over the years there have been a couple of small miscommunications. Everything was easily resolved and clearly just a result of human error. Honest pricing and trustworthy business practice are two of the most important things when finding a place to do work on your car. I went here recently to look into getting my brake pads changed and rotors surfaced. This place quoted me $450 for just the front brakes! I took my car to another spot in South Pasadena and they replaced my brakes and refinished my rotors for $130 in 45 minutes. Who knows if this place does good work, I'm not really sure, what I do know is their prices are unreasonably high. read more

When you go to any quick oil change lube place with all their bad service and reviews, one of the biggest red flags is them asking you to do unneeded maintenance and in particular changing your transmission fluid. This place is no different than every other scammy service. Went to get a simple oil change, an hour later they call saying I need to get my transmission fluid changed. Guess what I just had it done within the year and they made the claim I should go back to where I had it done to ask why its so dirty, probably in hopes I'd just tell them to do it. This is a huge red flag for myself having gone to many of the quick oil change type places. Keep an eye out for this yourself. Note: If you're honest with your customers they are more likely to come back. tldr: stay away. read more

Two stars because the work I did have them do for me was done fine. I brought in my 2007 Ford Focus to have my door handle and driver's side mirror replaced. All was well there, and I liked my experience enough to come back a couple days later (today) to see if they could do 60,000 mile maintenance. They asked me to drop off the vehicle so they could inspect it and give a quote for the maintenance. I got a call 2 hours later where I was advised that they didn't find anything problematic during the inspection (awesome!) but that the maintenance would require a full fluid flush of every fluid in the vehicle with a total cost of over $900. This sounded wrong, so I went to Ford's website and, sure enough, that is definitely not standard for 60,000 mile maintenance. I took the vehicle to another shop who confirmed my suspicions and told me the maintenance would be around $200. I am left with two possible conclusions to draw from this. Either the mechanic at FixCarNow was incompetent and did not correctly determine what maintenance was required for a very common vehicle model that he must've serviced dozens of times, or he knew that the maintenance did not require flushing all of the fluids and was trying to gouge me for unnecessary service. I considered confronting them about this when I went to pick up the vehicle but figured I wouldn't want them doing the work regardless of which one it was, so I didn't bother. Definitely shop around after they give you a quote, especially for maintenance-related tasks. read more

I didn't want to write this bad review, and held off because I had been in the process of resolving my issue but things only got worse. They have mechanics in my office building, and I dropped my car off for an oil change and to check the tire pressure. Things went fine, it was affordable and super convenient. I left, my car smelled a little like oil but I've heard that can happen if oil spills during an oil change and your engine needed to burn it off. As far as my tires, the light went back on the next day. I thought the tire was done, but put air in it and the light has never gone on since (this was weeks ago). So I'm not sure if they even looked at my tires? As for the oil change, about a week later, I noticed oil coming out of my car. I popped the hood and saw there was no oil cap. They had left the oil cap off, and I had been driving around with oil running all over my engine and the interior of my hood. I had to clean this up twice, and refill my oil as well as purchase a new cap. I emailed them requesting a refund, and the owner said he would do it no questions asked. I assumed my credit payment was simply being reversed. Two days later, I received a call from the mechanic in the building saying he wanted to talk about what happened. I called and after a lengthy conversation, in which he took no ownership, and continually said "IF we did this, then we're sorry," he said I should come down to process the refund. I came down the next day, and he asked to see my car. There were still remnants of oil, and while they offered to give me free oil changes and clean my car up I had just had it and wanted my refund. Then I was told he didn't have the check to give me my refund after all. So why did he have me meet him? Great question! He said he would call me the next day to give me a check. A week later, no call. I call again, he apologized and said he would have a check that afternoon. Two days later, I had to send another email to the owner because I had not heard and I was tired of chasing down these people when I had already spent my weekend at another mechanic fixing their mishap. I was told it was a "busy week" for them, and that's why I hadn't gotten my refund. While I appreciated their efforts to make the situation right, I continually felt like they were not taking my business seriously and did not find it important to right their wrong. I completely lost trust in their company as mechanics and as someone who values their customers. I finally got my refund - but too little too late. read more

Sorry to say this, but I didn't really have the best experience. While the customer service was good in that they are willing to pick you up and even offer services to drive to your location to do basic care maintenance and repair, the actual repair wasn't so good for emissions repair. I paid $95 and only got the Timing set worked on only. It would have cost $200 something more in labor to get a full service emissions repair to ensure I past the smog test. When I brought it back to the smog test place at Overland Smog Center, I not only failed it again but the guy said I was overcharged and his recommendation to check the EGR Circuit for cleaning was ignored. Instead of bringing it back to Fix car now and pay the extra $200 in labor, the Overland Smog Center was able to have the EGR circuit fixed for much less than the $95 dollars I initially paid. Perhaps the other services at Fix Car Now may be better, but for smog emissions repair, it didn't get the job done. Perhaps for others it could be different read more

The only reason I am giving FixCarNow 3 stars instead of 2 is because I think the owner realized how horribly they were trying to take advantage of my zero knowledge of cars and as a result of that, let me go without charging me. They also gave me a loaner car for a day which was cool, but unnecessary which I would later find out. My car started to squeak on my passenger side one day. The next day I felt some weirdness underneath my feet. The 3rd day my breaks had almost no resistance. FixCarNow was open on a Sunday and I read the great reviews and despite my father's insistence that I go to his guys, I went ahead and got my car diagnosed here. They wanted to charge me $400 to replace my break and rotors (even I know they are overcharging me by at least $200 for this), replace the wheel hub assembly ($450), and add/change my ABS sensor for ~$450 (which I never understood why this was necessary). They "capped me" at $1100 dollars and I was like, "Holy shit! These guys are giving me a deal!" My dad flipped his shit, called me a moron, and we got my car out of there. Long story short we went to my dad's guys and they replaced the ball bearings in the wheel that was messed up and changed my rotors and breaks for $185. They did it in 45 minutes. I would have EASILY paid $1100 because of how naive I am and it feels like the FixCarNow guys would absolutely prey on that lack of knowledge. Bottom line, they wanted to charge me $1100 for a $185 job. Never again, sorry guys. read more

I would not recommend using Fixcarnow. I am extremely disappointed with my experience. Summary: The repair failed after only a few months. They tried to sell me an different repair that I did not need. My family mechanic found that the part was installed incorrectly, they used the wrong kind of fluid, used silicone to seal a hose instead of replacing o-ring. Fixcarnow was unwilling to correct the situation. Long Version: I had a power steering pump and hose replaced by Fixcarnow from the garage in my building. After the repair, I was told that, although the pump had been fixed, my steering would still have problems because I needed a new rack and pinion. I was quoted a price for replacement of the rack and pinion. Fortunately, I declined. I moved from Los Angeles shortly thereafter. A few months later, my steering, which was never really fixed, became much worse. I thought " I guess Fixcarnow was right about the rack and pinion" so I took it to a family mechanic in my new location. After examining the car, my mechanic told me that the pump had been installed with the wrong fluid and that the pump had developed a leak. because silicone sealant was used as a sealant, instead of a new o-ring. Moreover, he inspected the rack and pinion and determined that there was no problem with that system. I called Fixcarnow and spoke to the owner. He told me that he would only help me if I brought the car back into the shop so that he could inspect it. I told him this wasn't a possibility since I had moved. He said he wasn't obligated by law to do anything and that there was nothing he could do. After I protested, he said that he could only help me if it was a problem with the part. He said he "would try to get a replacement part." But in order for that to happen, I would have to photograph the entire steering system of the the car, send him all the parts, have my mechanic perform tests on the fluid, etc. And what if it was a defective repair? No help. According to him, were it not so, "people would be calling me up all the time, trying to get money." That suggests to me that my situation was not unique. I understand his point: it would be better for him to fix the problem that he created in his own shop. But that is not a possibility for me because I have moved. Fixcarnow's unwillingness to make things right under the circumstances coupled with the shoddy workmanship and misdiagnosis of my problem convinced me that I should warn other potential customers. If you go here, prepare to have to go back. If you can't go back, you're out of luck. Avoid Fixcarnow. read more

So I've been waiting to see what happens to my car after the incident at FixCar and it's been running fine. I am now ready to write a review. Originally I came here for some auto body work. They quoted me lower than everyone and had a free loaner car which was great. So I figured since they did a good job on the auto body work I'd try them on other stuff. Big mistake. My engine light and VSC light was on so I took it in for them to look at. They told me the coolant temp sensor is failing and the thermostat needs to be replaced and coolant system flushed. That's a lot of work right? I took the car in and dropped it off but I started to get suspicious after reading the invoice. I called 10 mins later to stop the work. I came back to the shop and they made me sign some sort of waiver form that says there could be possible damage to the car if I don't get this done. So after this I took it to another mechanic. After a short while he calls me and tells me nothing is wrong with my car except that one of the radiator tubes is unhooked from the engine. That's awfully suspicious and potentially dangerous... I went to FixCarNow because of a car emergency. While driving home from San Diego my car died and I had to have it towed back to LA. I had a lot of time to kill waiting for the tow truck, so I did a google search for repair places open on a Sunday (because of course this incident had to happen on a Saturday evening). FixCarNow was the first result in google and happened to be near my house. So first thing Sunday morning I have my car towed in. I explained the problem and they said that they would look at it right away and get back to me with what they thought was wrong and how much it would cost. They offered me a free loaner car, but I declined that and got a ride home from the shop. It ended up being a crack in the cooling system for my hybrid engine. When I googled that problem, it said that it should be about $800 to fix it. My quote was $720. I was told I would get my car back that evening, but unfortunately due to one of their suppliers being closed on Sunday, I had to wait an extra day. My car has been working great since I got it back and now that my car passed 100,000 miles, I'm planning on bringing it back to a check up. read more

Stay away if you have a Subaru!! It's official they managed to almost get me killed once (see my first review) and now have cost me $1400+ for a new catalytic converter on my 2007 subaru outback. My new mechanic was pretty surprised that I needed a new cat so quickly, however when a shop like fix car now puts the wrong size spark plugs in your car it can cause that type of damage. If they do the work right I'm sure you will not have a problem, but if you had the experience I had then you'll see how unprofessional and dishonest they can be. After having some issues with a misfiring cylinder I took my car to the dealership and found out Fix Car Now managed to somehow put spark plugs in my car that were close to an inch too long. So Subaru replaces my spark plugs with the correct ones and then gives me the ones they replaced with some old subaru ones for comparison. . I went back to Fix Car Now to let them know they did a bad job and show them the spark plugs that they put in my car. Chance gave me my money back for the bad spark plug job roughly $200. I mentioned they probably ruined my catalytic converter as well. Chance said there was no way that damage could be caused by the spark pkugs. He even brought his chief mechanic out to BS me as well. I'm not a new car expert by any means, but when sparks plugs cause misfiring and are not correctly burning the gas in the cylinder this can cause gasoline deposits in the exhaust system (catalytic converter). The right thing to do in my opinion would be to own up to the bad work and either pay for the catalytic converter replacement or do the job for free. Now both the Subaru dealer and 2 other mechanics have stated that the bad spark plugs could cause catalytic converter damage. This happened almost 3 years ago but I've managed to chug along until recently without getting the converter replaced. I just thought it would be a good idea to let people know what I experienced here. They could have replaced their mechanics etc. by now but the accountability of the ownership is definitely something to question. Please see my other review of this same shop stripping a bolt on my tire then almost getting me t boned in an intersection. Never heard of stripping a bolt on the wheel before this incident. Hopefully they are doing better work now and you won't have to come back when something isn't done right. read more

We have had our cars (MB & Jeeps) serviced here for years. Today my low aIr tire dash light came on. Drove in and the owner Chance had one of his mechanics check all my tires. Filled them all with air at no charge. I did tip the gentleman $5.00 as I was happy with his service. Nobody was trying to sell me anything I didn't need. This establishment is as honest as they come. March 2017 my car wouldn't start. AAA came out and tried to start the car. They couldn't. They said my starter needed to be replaced. I had it towed to Fix Car Now. Jimmy said he would have his mechanic look at the car. I went home. Jimmy called me the next day and said they charged the battery and the car started. He wanted to keep the car overnight to see if the charge held. It did. When I came to pick up the car they didn't charge me anything. Jimmy stated they really didn't do anything and they wouldn't charge me. This is the most honest and reliable automobile service facility. read more

Smashed up the front end of my car right before the holidays and needed to get it fixed up and drivable. Wasn't looking to getting it back to perfect - just not smashed up. Basically needed to get the radiator cross bar straightened out, a new hood and a new bumper. Being that I walk by this place all the time, I thought I'd swing by and just see what they might be able to do for me. When I got there, I was greeted by David, who took some photos of the damage and said he would send them over to their body shop guy who would prep an estimate for me. This was on a Saturday, so I should expect an email Monday. Got an email from Lalo - who handles body work - with an estimate that included everything I had asked for including painting. Since I was looking to do the least needed to get things back into shape, I gave Lalo a call, chatted a bit about what he would be doing and he adjusted to exclude the painting for me. He was extremely polite and professional. I dropped the car of on a Monday and got a free loaner car, which was a life saver. That Thursday was new years day, so I didn't expect to get the car back until at least Saturday. Got a call that Wednesday that it was back and ready to go. Headed over and everything looked great. Work was excellent - above and beyond to fix some of the details of the grill. Dealt with David again, who was extremely helpful and professional. The price was a bargain and way under the budget I was willing to put into the fix. Not only is FixCarNow extremely conveniently located, the staff was extremely friendly, and the work was not only fast, but of high quality and low price. There was wierd sound coming from the car and burning smell too...when i took my car to fix car now. The manager told me that they will take it 2 hrs to just diagnose the problem... After 2 hrs they called me and said battery needs to be replaced and alternator too and gave me estimate of $ 760. After much bargaining they finalize it to $700. As i was in emergency i had to give up there demand.When i did some research i found that alternator and battery can be replaced withing $400. It was a good lesson learnt for me. read more

I recently had a head job on my car and the transmission feels good. I see the shop growing....continued success to them! 5/28/2013 I received a message today from one of the owners at FIxCarNow, and I must say it's very timely as I have a new found feeling of renewal with my 1997 Jetta. I was recently thinking about getting an Audi A4 or another BMW, but I'll keep my old 1997 that I just cleaned up. My transmission is really solid along with a recent head job (on my car folks) the Jetta is tight. No need for an Audi or BMW when VW is in the same category (my opinion). I have to say this is exactly what I expect my experience to be like. Straight to the point. Doug the skilled mechanic that worked on my car went through every aspect of my repair, what happened, and how it needed to be fixed. I'm not an expert on cars, but I do know MY car, it's parts, and how things work. I was schooled in what my car needed repaired, and how long I had to get it done, and what to do to get it done. I took my car to Fix Car Now to get new brakes for my 16 year old Corolla. I was almost 100% certain that I needed both front and rear brakes. I also knew that I might have waited too long to get them fixed. I was prepared to pay for a lot of really expensive work. I told them all this so it would have been a perfect opportunity for them to oversell me. Additionally, My car had been dragging at intersections...but I didn't say anything about that although I should have since it was a safety issue. I am happy to say that Jimmy was totally honest and informed me that I only needed the rear brakes done and that my spark plug and valve cover gasket needed to be replaced and the area cleaned. I realized that this was probably what was causing the potential stalling at the intersections. I had this issue about 6 years ago too and it cost me more than $500 to fix. I dropped my car off the night before to get an early start. I had a call from Jimmy by 7:45 am with the above prognosis. My car was ready by 2 pm that day and I paid half of what I paid 6 years ago for the gasket valve and spark plug service. I drove straight to Best Buy and bought a much needed new lap top with the money I saved. Jimmy was kind enough to keep the shop open later to drop off the car the night before. He really went above and beyond. I live close by so I was able to walk home. I was so pleased that I went back to get my smog checked which was easy and convenient too. So pleased with these guys. I took my VW Bug there last week and explained the issue, they said they would check it out and call me right away with the diagnosis. They didn't charge me anything until they let me know what the problem was. I dropped it off in the morning, they drove me to work, which was so helpful, and then called me later that day to let me know the issues. The car was ready the following evening but due to my hectic schedule I wasn't able to pick it up until the weekend. They were so nice, and accommodating and let me leave the car there until I was able to get it. I didn't feel taken advantage of or anything. I don't know anything about cars and my dad lives in Washington state, Jimmy told me to have my dad call him and he would be happy to explain everything to him. I felt very comfortable there and really love also that they are open on weekends for any future issues that may fall on the most inopportune moment- a weekend. I totally trust these guys and will definitely be taking my Bug there for any future issues. I live in Los Feliz, but am so thankful to these guys that I will drive there in the future for sure!! Brought my car in this morning because I had been hearing my brakes squealing for about 2 weeks now. I asked them to replace the brake pads as I thought that was the problem. After their free diagnostic, they found that my brake pads were still in great condition and let me know I didn't need the work done. They weren't able to find the culprit making the sound but told me to come back if it still causes problems. Point being, they could've easily had me pay for unnecessary parts and labor, but didn't. Honest, nice guys, and I'll definitely be back for any future problems. Also, after they put my tires back on and I drove off the lot, my car hasn't been making the screeching anymore. Magic? Maybe. If this review were just for service, it would be a 5 star. Were it for price alone, it would be 2.5 stars. They are very nice and competent. The work they did on my car is excellent. The staff communicates very well, and let's you know everything up front. Excellent service. Unfortunately they are a bit pricier than other mechanics in the area. Of which there are several. $129 for an alignment is a bit high (received several other estimates and most were $90-$110). $110 a piece for standard tires... a little high but not unheard of. $189 for new spark plugs... is a bit high given that most other mechanics will charge $140-$160 for this. I'm very happy with the service, they were very professional, and I also ended up paying about $60-$75 more than average for the work. read more

Great service. Professional, Convenient and Hassle free. I was having a custom daytime running light installation done which most shops including the dealsership wouldn't take on. Not only were these cats super friendly, but on top of that they gave me a ride home while the work was being done on my car. They've always, as their name states, fixed my car in a timely manner and I've appreciated how every person I've spoken with over the years has taken the time to explain what's going on with the car as well as offer suggestions or options. And while I am not very knowledgeable about car engine details, I've never felt like anyone was impatient with my questions or being condescending or trying to provide anything but service with integrity. I've been living in the neighborhood for a year and FixCarNow is my go-to place. Jimmy makes sure he understands your needs and then he goes over and above the call of duty to deliver. Example: Normally, I don't use my car a lot, and so I let Jimmy know there is no rush. I know he has a lot of customers who sometimes have pressing schedules. But the weekend before Thanksgiving, I had a road trip planned for Red Rocks outside Vegas. The trip had been planned for over a month, and then the "Needs Maintenance" light came on the morning before the trip. It turned out to be a combination of alignment, steering column, and engine block mounts. Jimmy got all the work done (4 hours of labor) and my car back by the end of the day. Jimmy is extra scrupulous about costs, letting you know things in advance, and managing little problems instead of gratuitously replacing stuff. He makes sure you know that keeping you safe is his top priority, and protecting your wallet is his next priority. Just a really good guy. I trust Jimmy, and I hope you'll give him a chance. So I was having a brake issue (air in the line) and got it fixed at a place by my house. I wanted to get a second opinion at another place for peace of mind just to make sure there was no underlying issues that caused the air and that more air was getting in. So I took my car to fixcarnow. One of the owners greeted me (sorry I don't remember your name) and was very nice. Unfortunately I am one of those people on a right budget so I have to take advantage of free services where I can; so it was great that they had free brake inspection. They told me that my brakes looked good that there were no leaks or anything, they also gave me a quote on some other issues with my car which were really great compared to what another place told me. I am going to go here to get it fixed as soon as I can afford it (they had a great price, I am just on a really right budget, but I should be able to come in soon!) As I am new to the states, the first place I heard about was PepBoys so went there. Got a horrible deal - they asked me to pay $1700 to get my radiator replaced. By coincidence I walked past FixCarNow and Jimmy said he could do it for under $900! Ended up paying $700 - super and fast service.
