Ordered steak tacos and got dry pork that looked reheated from weekend leftovers. How do you mistake pork for steak? Chicken and pork I would understand considering they end up in similar color when cooked, but STEAK?! As a Mexican who grew up eating authentic food and had tried many Mexican restaurants. I have to say this place was really underwhelming. I wasn't expecting a 5 star restaurant but I was expecting some flavor in the food. I had the fish tacos and the chipotle sauce was flavorless. Taco had minimum cabbage and hardly any cilantro.The Red salsa was watery and was flavorless, like really, it only tasted "spicy". The green salsa looks nice but again, watery, flavorless, and just "spicy". The most flavorless Mexican food I have ever had. Horrible experience. The young man taking our order acted like taking our order was an inconvenience to him. I pronounced something wrong and he made me feel stupid by laughing at me snickering to the cook in the back. My company orders catering from here often and i place the catering often and safe to say I will be ordering from a different place from now on. I had high hopes from what I have seen online. In total I got 4 shrimp tacos, 2 steak. Elote, quesadilla, and two Margaritas ( which come in a regular unlabeled bottle). I spent about $70 here in total. The only good thing about my meal were the margaritas, which were good. Online you see $3 margaritas on Monday's but their $9 with tax. When I got the food it was cold honestly. The only hot thing was the elote. Nachos chips tossed with un fresh lettuce, no jalapeño, and 5 tiny chucks of meat (hard cartilage bc it was nonchewable) Never again!!! Will no recommend! Tasty Mexican food at a great price - need I say more? Overall, I think 4.5 stars would be more accurate, but rounding up. I ordered the Street Corn Burrito combo (rice + beans on the side) and a horchata for delivery. Everything arrived correctly and quickly, and it was a super affordable dinner and lunch for the next day! I though the Street Corn Burrito was fantastic - literally so good! It was a chicken burrito and it was so satisfying - it had the perfect level of spice, smokiness, crispness, and sweetness. I would highly, highly recommend!! Onto the rice and beans - I thought they were just meh. Not good, not bad, just there. I feel like they did help fill me up though, so they helped the meal last longer which is a plus. The horchata was pretty good! I'm a sucker for a good horchata and Flaco's makes a decent one. Would recommend. All things said and done, I plan on ordering from here more often! Firstly, Flaco's tacos is not handicap or stroller friendly. Also it isn't very big on the inside but that's not really my issue. My issue is the tacos itself. Me and my wife had the ground marinated steak tacos. They give us good size tacos but it was not tasty what so ever! I would honestly say it was gross. The tacos were literally draining grease. It made my stomach hurt a bit after words. I didn't nor would I try anything else after and wouldn't recommend. If you do try them at least steer far away from the steak tacos. If it helps we aren't from Chicago but have had far superior tacos especially for the prices they charge. This is criticism not hate. read more

Solid place for affordable Tex mex: tacos, burritos, margs, etc. The place is on the smaller side but they churn out food quickly, good if you want something quick and convenient on a weekday. The tacos range from good to ok: my favorite is the al pastor but the fish taco is a bit bland and not worth normal price. However, the daily deals are what make Flaco's 100% worth going to. Every night is a different food or drink deal, my favorites are the Monday $3 margs (they don't skimp on the alc!) and Tuesday $1 taco-of-the-day. Also, Wednesday's you can get one of their big burritos for just $5, beats even chipotle! While it might not be the most authentic or impressive Mexican food, Flaco's serves satisfying Tex-mex with some of the best deals you're gonna find in downtown Chicago. read more

Decided to stop in here last week, as we saw a lot of people going into this place. It's a cozy location that is located in what appears to have once been a private residence. The place is very casual, but the food is top quality. We were there around lunch time, and although it was crowded, the service was very fast. We opted for one each of the fish, steak, pollo (chicken) and al pastor tacos. All of these were delicious. We happened to go on a Tuesday when their special is Taco Tuesday. You can get a taco for $1 and Lagunitas IPA for $4 on Tuesdays. The day that we were there, the special Taco was a ground beef taco, and it was a best-seller. It is my understanding that the flavor of the taco in the Tuesday special does change from week to week, so check out the little sign on the counter when you get there. When we go back again I'm going to get the combo which is two tacos, Mexican rice and refried beans for 7.95 or a burrito combo with Mexican rice and refried beans for 8.95. Keep in mind that there is an additional charge for steak, fish, taco of the week or the cowboy flavors. They also do catering and I have added pictures of their catering menu, so if you need to order something for the office or for a party, I would not hesitate to use Flaco's Tacos. read more

This is a place where I can go over, and over, and over again. The food is just delicious. This is a casual place, wich fits perfectly with the street food that's being served; Whether for lunch from the office, after a day of shopping or a day at the beach you will fit right in; and if you happen to need a snack with that drink with friends, they offer cold beer and excellent margaritas. But, calling it a taco stand doesn't give it justice. Yes, the menu is limited, and tacos are king, but there is more than just tacos; along with burritos, salads, tamales, pozole and quesadillas, It is the set up and quality of the food that makes it special. Add to that the friendly service and specials of the day or week, along with the drinks, and you've got yourself a restaurant. Stopped here for lunch today and it did not disappot. Everything was scrumptious. The food came out quickly but they do not cheat on the flavors. The tacos were flavorful and 10/10, the burritos was delicious and filling, the tamale was delightful, and the chips and guac were a huge serving and absolutely delicious. Flacos might be my new favorite taco joint in Chicago! I found this place when I heard they were giving out free tacos for national taco day earlier this year. I was in the area for lunch and decided to check it out. Flacos was a decent sized place and could seat about 30 people and they have outdoor seating. It was literally in a walkup condo building. There weren't many people there when I stopped by on a Wednesday around 12:30pm. They also have some pretty good food and drink specials during the week. I ordered the Al Pastor, chicken, and steak tacos. I thought the Al Pastor was the best as it had a pretty good spice to it along with pineapple sweetness. The steak was my second favorite and the chicken is well boring chicken. The portion sizes were actually pretty big and bigger than other taco joints in the city. The tacos had a ton of meat in them. The red salsa had a kick and the verde salsa wasn't spicy. Both were delicious! The Spanish rice and refried beans were meh, but they usually are. Interesting enough it did come in a fried tortilla shell. Like I said above, Flacos Tacos might be my new favorite taco joint in the city. I think it is right up there with Velvet Tacos and Antique Tacos, but it definitely beats Big Star and Broken English. There are a ton of taco joints that I have to try, but I think this is my favorite so far. It is definitely a great bang for your buck! The tacos are $3-$4.5, but these are bigger and have a lot of meat. I will be coming back to this place quite a bit! read more

My first time went to Flacos Edgewater had corn chix bowl really nice! Like a corn-a-copia of flavors. Rice was flavored the best I've had in a restaurant.
