Order at the counter place with a wide selection of affordable and delicious options. Food was fresh and festive and service was quick and friendly

Consistent lunch spot for my coworkers and I. Quality is the same on each visit and I would highly recommend the bowls! Their chips are freshly made and their guacamole is delicious. On occasion they have an horchata with espresso- I wish this was a staple menu item! It is delicious, but I've only seen it available once or twice. Their lunch staff is friendly and the service is very quick. Their aguas frescas are also fresh and delicious. There is seating and restrooms inside, and when it is warm out you can sit on their patio.

This was a very random stop for us on our way to catch the Red Line. We had joked that we wished we could just get a margarita and suddenly Flaco's appeared! We ordered the margs before we actually looked at the menu and realized they're all frozen, which isn't typically my favorite, but these were really good! We also decided to get a couple tacos since we had the opportunity and they were delicious!

This was my first time in Chicago and my husband's second, so I let him take the lead when it came to finding tacos. We had been walking around all day and were on the verge of getting hangry when he remembered a place he'd visited on his last trip. When we walked in, it wasn't too packed--it was still early for dinner. My husband ordered the pozole, while my mother-in-law and I both had the chicken tacos. I also ordered the sangria. Everything was delicious and packed with flavor the service was great and the restaurant was clean but more can you ask for would definitely visit again if I was in Chicago

Delicious little taco shop. Food came out really fast, every taco we tried was delicious, and the frozen margaritas were surprisingly strong. A nice chill spot for a quick lunch with a nice vibe. Would definitely recommend.

Really great tacos! Absolutely delicious! I was impressed by how full they were. Great prices also. The food came out really quick.

During a work trip in Chicago, I wanted something quick-ish to eat, so my concierge suggest Flaco's Tacos. The service? Excellent. My server explained my options and kindly put my drink in a to go bottle for my convenience since I had a bit of a walk back to my hotel. This spot is super festive with indoor and outdoor seating, so perfect for Taco Tuesday or any lovely summer session. I ordered the shrimp tacos with rice and beans, and jamaica/hibiscus drink. I don't love corn tortillas but my gosh- these were fantastic! Fresh, seasoned well and paired wonderfully with the two sauces (red and green). The rice and beans were a hit too. As a West Indian, I'm used to more ginger and spices in my hibiscus drinks, HOWEVER, it was a great way to cool down. As much as I want to explore what else Chicago has to offer, the temptation to return here has been living rent free in my head! P.S- I hope they create a shrimp and/or fish option for the bowls!

Food was great. Really liked the queso, I'm not usually a huge fan but this was delicious. Guacamole was great as well! Pictured all our food! Chips were homemade, crunchy deliciousness!!!! Service was good. Self service and come first come serve on seats. Bar type stools and a few low tops. Authentic Mexican for sure

We're not too late for #tacotuesday We love heading down the street to get some Flacos Tacos! Even their outside seating is quite nice and rustic. The sauces are made with perfect consistency every time we eat here! Plus $1 tacos where could you go wrong?

The place is small with a hard time to walk around when it's full. It's a nice bar restaurant and didn't realized until we were leaving that there's a back area. The bartenders could be a little more social and happy bc that seem a bit dull and unhappy working there. Unlike Martin he was happy. Mildred was our server and she did phenomenal. We stood at the door for about 20 minutes before someone finally told us the wait would be 1-2 hours. Keep in mind, the place is pretty small and already crowded, so there's barely any room to stand while you wait. After getting on the waitlist, we decided to go to a nearby spot for food--but not even 5 minutes later, we got called back saying our table was ready. When we returned, we were seated along the wall in a very tight space--so tight that if I stretched my arm out, I would've hit the person next to me. We noticed a large table nearby had been sitting for a while without food. When their food finally came out, it made us realize our wait would probably be even longer. After another 20 minutes passed and we still hadn't been able to order, we decided to leave. I'm not sure the space is fully ready for the rush right now--it feels overcrowded and service is slow. I'll give it another try once the hype dies down. I'm happy for their success, though--just be prepared to be patient when you go.

Cinco de Mayo at Barrio was EVERYTHINGGG…read more We fully committed to the holiday and ordered honestly the entire menu and somehow every single thing that came out was better than the last. Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. We kept looking at each other after every bite like "okay wait... THIS is the best thing here" and then another plate would arrive and prove us wrong again The carnitas fried rice??? I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot. The service was also AMAZING from start to finish and made the entire experience even better. One of those dinners where you leave already talking about when you're coming back If you're looking for the place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, date night, tacos & margaritas, or honestly just an incredible dinner in general... this is IT

The drinks were better than the food. I ordered the chicken nachos. I expected the cheese to be melted liquid cheese. It was a very small portion of barely melted mozarella cheese. So. The atmosphere is easily for dates, friend outings, after work outings etc. The restaurant decor is nice. It puts you in the mind of a European garden. There is no parking but a garage across the street along with metered Street parking. Beware parking cost $46 for about 2.5 hrs. The food bill was $141, way too expensive for tacos and a few margaritas. I will pass on this place.

Appetizers were quac and chips, and shrimp ceviche. The guac was really good, but the ceviche was the star. Served on a bed of cucumbers, it was visually beautiful, and the flavor was fresh and complex. There was also a LOT of it. We ended up taking some home. Entrees were steak and shrimp for me, and Tampiquena for my friend. In both dishes, the steak was done to perfection. The sauce that came with my shrimp was spicy and deep--lots of flavor layers there. Both of us took home portions of our meals because there was a lot of food on the plates. Finally, the service--the servers are attentive without hovering. If we needed something, they were there, but never intrusive. It is hard to believe this is a little neighborhood spot, given the service and the quality of the food. It was not too busy tonight--we ate early--but I recommend reservations. It is very popular with the neighborhood. Bottom line, we each had 2 margaritas, appetizers, and entrees, and our bills with tip were around $105.00 each--totally worth it! Try this little gem--you won't regret it.

Only real negatives were that they did not offer any draft beer options and the Chips y Salsa ($3.75) had a meager quantity of chips to eat their tasty and generous tomatillo and 3-chile salsa options. Would actually go 4.5 stars based on those 2 factors, but gave the benefit of the extra half star due to how good our service was and the excellent flavor of the veggie sandwich.
