Worst service ever! Never will go there again... My wife was there today for a quick bite after our 2 year old daughter's swim lesson. She ordered a drink which was served to her in a glass container. After some time, she decided to transfer the drink into a plastic container to take outside. She was then told that she cannot do that, and its against policy...which was fine. At this point, my wife decided to stay there and finish the drink. HOWEVER, after a minute, another girl walked up to her and insisted that she transfer the drink back to the glass container or they will take the drink away.....basically being rude, obnoxious, and confrontational. As my wife had already committed to staying on the premises and finishing the drink, she told the girl that she did not need/want to transfer the drink back to the glass container. At this point, the girl insisted on taking the drink back for a "refund"...which was a gift certificate...for a restaurant we were never going back to! When we called out the glaring gap in logic, the girl got even more confrontational...leading to my wife walking out Please note that this was my wife, with our 2 year old and my nanny....not young kids who might sneak drinks out into the street. This is BY FAR the worst experience we had ever at a restaurant... The tacos are alright.....but DEFINITELY NOT worth the abysmal customer service....STAY AWAY! read more

My boyfriend and I ordered steak tacos from Flaco's. They were the worst tacos we have ever eaten. The meat was fatty and tasted so bland. Absolutely no seasoning. I would not recommend Flaco's Tacos to anyone! I would give this place 0 stars if I could. read more

I feel compelled to review this place based on two items: fish tacos and aguas frescas. The fish is so rubbery and has such a crispy outside that I can't bite through it - the whole piece of fish comes out of the taco! It is over seasoned and the tortillas were cold. I have loved Flaco's and their tacos ever since I discovered the South Loop one. The food is incredible but recently I was encountered with a very frustrating experience with one of their servers. At each point of my meal, he came to my table and told me flat out that I was being on my phone too much. The first time he told me it had taken me 7 seconds after talking to me that I was back on my phone. After I had had a long shift at work, this was the last thing I wanted on my time off trying to decompress. He repeatedly came up to me saying "wow you really like your phone." It was upsetting and felt a little like harassment on my time to be at peace while eating. read more

I got the steak tacos with rice and a bottle of coke. The steak didn't really taste too good. It was mushy and the marinate just tasted funny. The rice was also pretty poor. For $11 that I was charged, it was not worth it. read more

YUM! Stopped for lunch - everything was pretty good. We had tacos, burrito, quesidilla and guac and chips. I personally didn't have the tacos or burrito, but I can't wait to go back and try. I always eat here on taco Tuesday for $1 tacos and it's nothing to get excited about but the tacos are good for only $1. Today I watched the cooks prepare the food, they don't wear gloves. Idk if they are passing inspections because the same towel the cook used to clear the dirt off his board is the same towel he used to clean his knife and continue chopping veges with. I love Flacos Tacos! Service is good. I've eaten there, but I usually order delivery and they are always early. Their online ordering system is awesome. You can select less or more of any ingredient. It's great for picky eaters like myself! I've tried the ground beef, al pastor and chicken tacos. The chicken are my favorite. They really fill them up! Ground beef is usually my favorite, but theirs doesn't have too much flavor. The al pastor was fine, but I just am not a fan of pineapple with my meat. I've also had the chorizo quesadilla. It's greasy, huge and amazing! They have so many delicious looking baked items also, but I haven't tried them yet. I will get to them eventually........ :) read more

I really do come here quite often, especially on mondays. But today I experienced something I did not find appropriate or acceptable. The manager/owner was kicking paying, well behaved customers out of the restaurant for charging their phones. They unplugged their phones and he asked them to leave, when they questioned him he gave them two minutes or he was going to call the police. They say in confusion while other customers watched the uncomfortable situation. I stood with the people he was kicking out, it was unreasonable and not right. The food here has always been good as well as the server. This is the first time I had seen this man working the store and over heard he was the owner. I sampled a steak burrito, and one of each tacos. Great flavors in each and I enjoyed each one thoroughly. Steak as noted in other reviews was kinda dry and chewy. Margaritas and the sangria were great. Over all though my favorite was the ancho chicken taco! read more

Been here 2 times on a Wednesday and a Thursday. They have fantastic daily deals such as a $5 burrito special on Wednesdays and a $10 three mini burritos with rice and beans on Thursdays. Food tastes great too, but I am primarily shocked by the low price of their food and good quality. read more

I've been spoiled by the availability of cheap greasy delicious Mexican food in California, and so far I haven't found a place here that can replicate that. I come to Flacos when I'm having a super craving for Mexican, but always leave a bit disappointed. I can't quite place my finger on it but the food here is just missing something. Definitely needs some more flavor, that's for sure: you can almost save the meal by drenching it with hot sauce and salsa. But that shouldn't be the case. read more

This is a great place to enjoy California style Mexican food. Its a great place to take your family to. The portions are large. I ordered a California burrito and it filled me up. Love it! Very fresh and really good service. The closest I can come to Baja Fresh in Chicago (which is my favorite mexican fast-food-type restaurant ever.) Lots of good authentic items on the menu that all look incredible. Their salsa verde is also to die for. Plus, they always have specials every day of the week, so it's fun to go in there and be surprised at what they're cooking that day. And, Wednesdays are half-priced margaritas, which are really really tasty! All-around win. read more

Having been a Flaco's repeat customer, I shall share a few additional observations: 1) Sometimes you get pieces of other meats mixed in with your meat. Like beef in your chicken. If you eat all meats, this won't be a problem. If you don't, it will be. 2) The quesadilla is pretty much terrible. Don't ever get it. 3) The Oreo Dream Bar is the fluffy and chocolately and delightful in every way, and you should put it in your mouth immediately. 4) They have a liquor license. Saturday...20 sumthin degrees... a gorgeous day in the city....my son was at work at Bloomies so when break occurred we wanted a lunch that didn't carry the 900 shops recommended value of 13 to 30 dollars an entree which consisted of a skinny slice of pizza or a salad with diced up morsels that are described so decadently on the menu..not!!...so..we walked to Flacos Tacos. I already had knowledge of the decadent fresh warm chips and the above average delicious Guacamole, so I couldn't lose. Today I tried the daily special. Three corn tortilla Chicken Enchiladas with Tomatillo Salsa and topped with Crema accompanied by Beans with Rice all for 8.95. Nice. Let me tell you..those Enchiladas were stuffed beautifully so that you were able to taste the seasoned chicken and all the glory of that salsa. Great filling ratio. The beans and rice were a common side found in all americanized Mexican eateries, sadly nothing special. My son had ordered the El Pastor Burrito, which I had not sampled, but it was extremely generous for the price of 7.95. All in all I love this place...the staff were wonderful today!! Especially Yeshi ( dynamic personality) and our greeter who took our order...sorry I didn't ask her name... So all in all..a great lunch choice...worth the dollars for quantity, quality and flavor. It's right by work for me so I guess it's a good substitution when I need a taco fix. But if I had a choice, I would drive down to Pilsen and get some carne asada tacos for lunch instead at one of the taquerias. Since I can't take 2 hour lunches everyday, this place is "aite". They do put cilantro and onion on their tacos, but it's not enough. They do give you lime, but it's just one lime. They do have horchata, but it tastes watered down. Meh. This place is ok. I had the traditional tacos with beef and the beef was like cool rubber. I just picked it off since the line was so long. I also got a pork tamale and it was delicious. It was a red sauce pork in a flavorful dough with a fair amount of spice for a tamale. You have to know to ask for the sauce bottles or grab them from someone else's table. And don't be shy about sharing a table with strangers, this place is pretty small inside and out. read more
