Called to speak with sorry excuse for a manager, LEO and he basically told me it wasn't his problem. He was very rude, short and nasty! I was servicing a couple of my Eyelash Extensions clients downtown and had an hour for sustenance before my next. I wanted something quick but not the typical McDonalds or Chic'fil'A up the street fast food. Now, I can't tell you how many times I've visited the Starbucks in that same row of businesses and never noticed this taco spot before, but POOF, that day there it was. I didn't expect much but boy was I impressed. I ordered 3 Ancho Chicken tacos, a side of guacamole, and a traditional frozen margarita. No lie, those tacos were some of the best I've tasted in a long while. I don't eat pork, or red meat (with the exception of lamb here and there) so I consider myself a bit of a chicken and seafood connoisseur. The chicken had the right amount of seasoning, great flavor, and moist. Priced at $2.45 per taco, I felt was pretty reasonable. So was the $5 frozen, refreshing, buzz delivering, and thirst slaking margarita. My only concern was, HOW COME NO ONE HAS EVER TOLD ME ABOUT THIS PLACE? This will be my go to for now on. Unfortunately this was a really disappointing dinner. We tried 4 tacos (2 came in a taco platter and two were separate add ons). The cowboy taco was the best in taste. Delicious Mexican food! We went on a Thursday and they had a special for $3 Sangria and $8 mini burritos. The atmosphere is casual and the staff is friendly. Also on days where there aren't specials the food and drinks are pretty inexpensive. The only negative thing is that the entrance door doesn't always close, and if it's winter time the air gets in and it gets really cold so basically someone has to get up and close it every now and a lot of the times it's a customer. So maybe they should try to fix that. read more

I'm excited that Flaco's Tacos has opened up in my lunch zone. My wallet and waistline are not. The tacos are really good, but don't forget to get chips and guac because the chips at Flaco's are incredible! I'm not sure if they have their liquor license yet. They will eventually serve margaritas, sangria and beer. A fast-food joint with margs? What's better than that? For the teetotalers out there, they have Mexican Coke in glass bottles. Score! Oh, and they also have dessert! Tacos, margaritas AND cupcakes? Best business model ever! My only complaint is that it's a tad pricey. I'm checking out this place for the first time & I really do enjoy it; I will return! Especially since they know how to do a taco authentically meaning dressing it with only cheese, white onion & cilantro (I learned that this is the proper way to garnish a taco when I lived in Pilsen!). I had a ancho marinated chicken & a lime-grilled steak traditional taco which were both delicious & since it was Tuesday, I had to get their $3 sangria (it was OK but I've had better!). I decided to try this place out for lunch. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. The price of my meal was very reasonable and you get a ton of food. The ambience was very clean and had a good vibe the wait staff were pleasant and tended to my needs in a timely manner. The menu was a little confusing as they have a paper menu but also items written on the wall, so it took me longer to order my food. I'll keep this short and sweet. I had a burrito from here on my lunch break and bit into a big ass chicken bone. The four or five times I've eaten at Flaco's the food has had very little flavor and left me feeling queasy. The only redeeming qualities for me are their margaritas and their cupcakes. I have previously rated this restaurant well, but after my last experience I am changing my review. I live very close to this restaurant and order from it often (delivery about once a week). I recently signed up for their email list and received a $10 off coupon via email. When I called in to use it, they said they "weren't authorized" to take the coupon over the phone. I was obviously a little surprised, because if Flaco's Tacos can't authorize it... who can? After a few rebuttals and an offer to print it out, they finally agreed (with some attitude) and delivered the tacos a bit later. A bit later they called me and let me know the coupon had expired the day before and there was no way they were going to honor it. I started to say how I've been a long-time customer, but the girl hung up the phone on me. I called back immediately, asked her why she hung up, and she accused me of swearing at her!-it didn't happen. She refused to give me her first name- once again something she "wasn't allowed to do"- and hung up on me again. All I can say is wow. It takes a special talent for someone to ensure a repeat customer never comes back. Since my horrible experience I have tried Carbon's Live Fire Mexican Grill. The Tacos and guacamole were delicious and superior to that of Flacos Tacos and most importantly, their employes and customer service were A+... I highly recommend Carbon, and Carbon is where I will be fulfilling my weekly cravings for Mexican Food from now on. read more

Flaco, flaco, what the heck or who the heck is a flaco?? Well, according to Wictionary: Adjective flaco (m) =thin, skinny Hmmm...ironic considering nothing here is small or skinny, yes the portions here are quite LARGE. I opted for two tacos, one Arrachera (steak) and Al Pastor (pork) and my dining companion and I also split some chips and guac. The were pretty loaded with well-marinated meat, chihuahua cheese, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro and double-wrapped in tortillas. I always get excited when I see double-wrapped tacos cuz I know it means the tacos are loaded and one little puny tortilla can't handle all the meaty wonderfulness. I have to say the Al Pastor was my favorite, the meat tasted like it had marinated for several hours. My friend got the chicken torta and complained it was a little dry, I imagine the Al Pastor might be a little better? The guac was generously served in a bowl with a heaping basket of chips and rightfully so, they were $5.95 (a little pricey, even for guac in my opinion, but it was yummy). In other news, they have a HUGE dessert selection (think 3-4 types of cake including Tres Leches cake, 3-4 types of cupcakes, and several other delicacies), but I had to resist because it would not be so good on my wallet or my waist. That being said I WILL be back to try the dessert, it looked delish and reasonably priced. So glad there is finally an authentic Mexican joint downtown/next to Loyola! read more

I was craving nachos for a long long time and while walking down Michigan Ave, I searched for nachos nearby. I came across Flacos Tacos and decided to pay a visit. Long story short, my cravings were satisfied BUT I was very unhappy with the chips. They were drenched in oil. There should be an option between getting baked chips or fried. A friend told me about the one on Dearborn so I was very excited to try it. The chicken tacos were good, not mind blowing, but good. The chips are what sing here though. They are big, flaky and have two "layers" as opposed to the typical one-layer tortilla chip. The salsa it was served with gets two thumbs down, but the salsa they serve with the meal made a great substitute. Tacos=3 stars, chips=5 stars. This location is always busy though so be prepared to go in, eat, and get out. No dilly-dallying here! read more

I have lived a few blocks from this place for years, I used to go all of the time and I always loved it (would have given it 5 stars) but the past year or so every time I have gone it has been a negative experience. Multiple times they dont make the correct order (do not include added avocado), they have given my order to another person, not included the requested salsa - no eye for customer requests or attention to detail anymore. The atmosphere is casual and the margaritas are nice. I usually order the vegan burrito, which used to be great. Now it is soggy, undrained beans, used to have sauteed spinach and then it started having just romaine lettuce. Burrito not wrapped tightly enough and then the undrained beans drip all over the place. Seems to have lost all sense of quality control, but still seems to be an okay stop if youre looking for uncustomized, basic tacos, and daily deals. read more

This place is great for grabbing a quick bite, and they have so many deals! For instance, I forget which day but, they've got $1 tacos and $3 sangria days. The food is quite delicious, too. It was so bland and so cold and full of stale rice with rock hard bits that were clearly scraped off the side of the container. Now my stomach is feeling queasy...not sure why I even ate the few bites that I did. Please, Flaco's, make an effort towards better quality food. My burrito today was abominable. The rating is more for the service than the food. I've tried the tacos which were a little dry, but once you put salsa on them, they're ok. The Tortas however, are great!!! I'm a very picky eater and have been going here at least twice a week for lunch. Sadly, there is a very rude young man working the register. He is very unprofessional. I went to Flaco's Tacos last night and loved it. This location is super convenient - right off of the Magnificent Mile. I ordered the flaco bowl with vegetables and my friend ordered the chicken burrito. Both of us loved what we ordered. I love eating at non-chains but hadn't been able to really find one in the burrito/taco area, but now I'm hooked! Loved it! Inexpensive and so delicious! read more
