He is courteous, efficient friendly and knowledgeable. He showed up yesterday ahead of time to install a new dishwasher. Not only did he do the install expeditiously, he took away all trash and the old unit. As a previous homeowner but only renting now, I appreciate someone who shows up on time. Called flaherty plumbing to get an estimate to have our sewer injector to be replaced. When they arrived. They said the injecto needed to be replaced . Estimate cost. Material and labor $1,000. The plumber was here for a total time of 1 1/2 start to finish. When I went downstairs to see how things were going. He informed me the cost was no longer $1,000... but $1,500 total. My wife and I were a little taken back. Cost of new injector was $289. Balance was labor. We asked why was the change from $1,000 to $1,500. We were told by the plumber. That's what he was told. We paid. Didn't receive any bill for service in person. we found flaherty to be very missleading. And to be ripped off is totally not right and unacceptable. Buyer beware read more

GREAT SERVICE IF AN ONLY IF YOU NEED A 15K BOILER INSTALLED SAME WEEK - because that is always the answer. (I suspect service guys are paid on commission). Called them twice (yes, to their credit they will send someone out quickly) after our longstanding plumber retired. Both times the different service tech gave the same recommendation. "You need a new boiler and we can have it installed within the week. 10-15K." First problem was actually a failed pressure relief valve (much less than 15K). Second problem was just a leaking gasket (MUCH MUCH less than 15K). read more

My tankless water heater was acting up and leaking. I called these guys because they were the original installers and their number was on the paperwork. BIG mistake. I called Sunday and left a message. Monday I received a return call to make an appointment- and was told I needed a credit card to do so. Ok- they've been burned. Got it. Appointment window is between 12:00 and 3:00pm. I work until 4- so I asked for a later time. "No- that's the only available." So- I have to leave work 5 hours early. I called at 10 am on the day to ask if they can give me a narrower window. i.e.- "is the plumber running behind? Is he still on his morning project? Coldly: "the plumber will arrive between 12 and 3." So I missed 5 hours of work to race home and wait. And wait. And waaaiiitt. At 3:20 I get a phone call! "On my way to you now- I'm about 45 minutes away." I left at 11am for nothing! Guy arrives and immediately tells me that the company that made my heater went bankrupt. Can't buy parts anymore. The temp/pressure valve is leaking- they can replace that on a flat rate fee for $440. Changed a couple leaking O-rings (that I supplied). Told me my water pressure was 10psi above recommended pressure,, and said he could install a reducer for $660. I declined the added services, and thanked him for fixing the leaks. $350 charge for 90 minutes of his time (including the $99 show-up charge) to change 3 o-rings. The next day I received an estimate for EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS (US!) to replace the hot water system!! Here's the punch line: The $440 valve cost $17 on Amazon and took 35 minutes to replace. The $660 PR valve was $66 at Home Depot and took 45 minutes to install. Oh- and the heater is fine. Just needed the orings and the $17 pressure valve. I understand everyone needs to make a living- but charging homeowners $500/hr when they're in a bind? That's just gross. read more

Very disappointed with their service. I have requested a call back and never received. I was told by technician I will get an email regarding diagnosis and charges,I never got it. Got charged 350.00 for a plumbing diagnosis which I am not convinced if it was a correct diagnosis. I kept on asking how much for a repair and he keeps on saying ,oh is expensive without actually taking a moment of his time to see the prices,and then he tells me we will send you all the info,which I never got. The good: Competent and efficient plumber who even put on shoe protectors without being asked. VERY skilled and professional. Showed up exactly when promised, with a rather short wait to get an appointment. The less than excellent: They charge "flat rate by task", not "per hour". For example, 15 minutes work on a sink is billed at $140+ (not including the $79 show up charge), then on to the next task with a fixed rate charge. The effective hourly rate when billed this way can easily approach $300. Flaherty takes a credit card when you book (which I assumed was to protect against people calling multiple plumbers and only paying the first one who shows up). What they don't tell you is that your card will be charged before you even get a chance to review the bill. I suspect they do it this way to avoid arguments when customers find out they were not paying an hourly rate. They can improve by telling customers about the flat price for the work they are ordering, and that they will charge your card before you even see a bill. Got up today to find we had no hot water. Went into my basement where I found lots and lots of water under my Rinnai water heater and water still pouring out of filter unit above it. Called Flaherty and they came out very quickly and determined that the filter housing unit had a large crack in it. Our technician, Jake, went to store to get a new filter unit, installed it and re piped everything back the way it should be. He did an excellent job. He was early to arrive, competent, and polite. I would highly recommend Flaherty Plumbing, as well as Jake, in particular. read more

They will use the excuse that the work needed more than they anticipated but they poorly plan upfront and then try and get you to pay for their poor planning. You can't trust this company. Do not hire! They will make you pay for their incompetence. I hired them because the property manager of the apartment complex recommended them saying "They know in and out of the place". I called them and explained that the shower was banging and probably the cartridge needs to be replaced. They came next day and said it needs to be replaced but they need the water to be shut down by the management. I called them several time after that for a month and they just told me they would call me back and never did. Finally I was able to arrange a water shutdown and get them in. They fixed it and charged me for the first visit too. They were supposed to know that fixing a shower needs a water shut down and came only after arranging one, as they were familiar with the complex. Even though it was their fault that they needed to come twice, I had to pay the price. read more

Worst plumbing and heating services in the area with a lot of rookie plumbers and even service managers guessing around and not being accountable for fixing an screwed boiler installation installed by them only 2 yrs ago. Thank God i found a new local plumber which was recommended by LAARS who are accountable and knowledgeable with LAARS boiler. Summary of problems caused by Paul Flaherty at my house - Screwed installation of LAARS boiler (see the image for before-after; they didnt follow installation manual and screwed inlet-outlet pipes) - Due to the screwed installation, i had problems every winter after installation and they had no idea but replaced some other unnecessary parts. - Flooded my wooden floor while tring to repair(they later reimbursed the repair cost only but not my lost wages ) -Didn't reimburse for the lost 2.5 day-off from work to take care of repairing the flooding caused by Paul-Flaherty's plumbers. - Huge mental stress due to the boiler which was installed incorrectly. Details: Ever since the Laars boiler was installed at my home about 2 yrs ago( Nov 2017), i was repeatedly having various boiler problems every winter. ERROR 44 The resolution/diagnosis provided by "Paul Flaherty plumbing" was replace {AirPressureSensor and replace ControlBoard} and repeat this process. They were happy as they could bill. I had to take multiple second opinion from "LAARS technicians" and " an other plumbining company". Both, came to the same diagnosis and conclusion: It was a screwed installation by Paul Flaherty plumbing company in terms of venting (most obvious) and multiple other sections. See the screen shot below for Air vent. The air outlet was installed at lower height than the inlet. This was clearly against installation instructions in the manual. This caused intake of the exhaust gases and cross-contamination leading to a state where the burner is heavily contaminated and lowering its age. The only good thing i can say is that the owner is a bit responsible and listens to the customer problems. Hence 1 star. But based upon the plumber's skill set, it deserves 0 stars. read more

They came 3 weeks ago because the furnace they sold us and installed wasn't firing regularly. It would stop working for a day or two and then start working again.Out came the electric heaters. The tech came during a period while the furnace was working and said everything was fine and did nothing. That cost $90.00! Then 2 weeks ago the furnace stopped cold dead! Another $100+ visit (as in no credit for the first do nothing visit) and the second tech said the pressure switch was broken and preventing the furnace from firing. He said the part is known to be flaky and like to fail sporadically (as in the first tech should have ordered the part when he came out). He said it was a cheap $30 part and would order it and have it within a day or two and come back to install it as it was a 5 minute job. Well 2 weeks later they haven't managed to get the part. This is an American Standard unit, not exactly rare. We still don't have heat in February in New England. I can't wait to see the electic bill this month! read more

Wow! Highly recommend and I am a discerning customer. I rarely write reviews but when a business stands out, it should be noted and commended. Jody was extremely capable, replaced faucet, fixed toilets, diagnosed shower problem, contacted Kohler and arranged for faucet replacement at no charge to me, and is coming back with special parts to complete service on high efficiency boiler. All handled in 100% professional and courteous manner, even wearing shoe covers every time returned into the house and masked throughout entire visit for covid safety. Great job! read more

Watch out for this company with regards to technicians skills set which to me are very much like apprentices. Had a plumbing request to have a bath tub water stopper fixed , what they did was to make it worse creating a water line leakage. Not only we had to pay them the first initial request but when calling them back to have them come out to put back the device originally removed [which fixed the leakage problem ] but wanted to charge me again for fixing their initial mistake. I have deal with many professional plumbers in the past as I am a landlord who owns several units but I would never use this company for any plumbing related work. read more

The prior owner of my condo used Flaherty Plumbing for work in the unit and they do a lot of work in my complex as well. I feel they are a bit pricier than other plumbers based on my shopping around. However, I am willing to pay a little more for their services and the peace of mind I have when they're doing the work. The guys always show to do the work when they indicate that they will do the work. They complete the job in the time frame that they estimate the time to take (which is great because more time = more $). I also appreciate that they are familiar with the condo complex that I live in and where all the shut offs, etc are located. Will continue to partner with Flaherty and refer to them. read more

I had Paul Flaherty Plumbing come to my house to clear a clogged bathroom sink. The advice I got was to cut the pipe and possibly replace the entire length of pipe going into the wall, for probably 6 plus hours of labor. This for a sink that actually cleared itself after pouring draino down the sink. It was backed up with hair. I had them do work before and they did a great job. NOT this time around, and for nothing I paid $90. All set with Flaherty Plumbing. Sucked! read more

I had nothing but a professional experience with Flaherty Plumbing. This is in stark contrast to other local plumbers, and I really am quite grateful for the service. Here is my story: I needed a complete conversation to gas (new gas line, furnace, dryer, stove, hot water heater), and some kitchen sink/dishwasher work done. I went through two other plumbers who were impossible to get a quote from, one of which never showed up to do the work. The second plumber was even more money but it felt like I had to beg her to even come do the quote, and when I agreed to the quote/contract I never got return calls, ever, I tried multiple times over 10 days. Finally I called Flaherty and they came immediately, quoted the work for less than the other plumbers, were able to start almost immediately, and they did all the work on-time! This work really stands out in 3 ways... 1) They converted my oil burning boiler to gas with a kit, saving me thousands of dollars compared to a replacement (my boiler was still fairly new). 2) They happily allowed me to purchase the tankless hot water heater from a 3rd party without complaint. I know this costs the company some profit, I appreciated this a lot. 3) The plumber doing the work spent a little extra time to improve my set-up, not a huge deal but probably an extra hour of work and it was done without extra cost. Definitely not in the original quote, he just wanted it to be "done right." It's been 2 years since I had the work done, and u have not had a single problem with any of it (there was a lot!). read more

My condo association hired this company to check the heating system in my unit. The problem was inconsistent heat between rooms. The repairman spent about 10 min and did the following as described in the invoice: No heat in one of the bedrooms Tenant did not think heat was working correctly Thermostatic valve turned down upon arrival Turned valve setting higher Heat working throughout unit Turned up all the way, fin tube getting very hot Found heat and thermostatic valve working correctly Set at medium heat According to the company, the technician spent 40 minutes in the unit and they charged Service Call - 1/2 hour : $85 Labor 0.5 : $65 Truck and travel : $35 I called to dispute the Labor, $65, since the technician definitely did not spent more than 30 minutes. But they claimed that the technician called to tell them he spent 40 minutes and that is the only record they have. No signature from me. They also refused to discuss the bill further with me since my condo association management company called them. As you may read in other reviews, there were more cases of overcharging by this company. If you work with them be sure to get an invoice on site and check all the items carefully. read more

Things are changing with this company and it does not appear for the better. I am in the middle of a bad plumbing experience and the person who answers the telephone is being rude and dismissive and unresponsive despite the fact that I have been a customer for 20 years and have spent more than $1000 in the last 2 weeks with Flaherty on repairs and maintenance. ...and incidentally the furnace is not working during this very cold week. It pains me to write this, because for years Flaherty was responsive to emergencies, helpful and courteous. But after literally thousands of dollars spent trying to correct a heating system which only worked sporadically, Flaherty recommended we replace it. We did. Very expensive. But the new system was insufficient to heat the zone, so we went from bad (old system, when it worked, it heated the place) to worse (new system, totally inadequate on cold days). It took over a year and countless pleas to listen to us to get Flaherty to respond to the problem, and the proposed solution was...more money to replace existing radiators. Not a good experience. Shame on me for not reading these reviews beforehand, but I was referred by a local handyman. I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a business. I created a Yelp account just so I could warn people about them. First off, it's very clear no one in the company communicates with one another. I have had to explain the situation to every person that called. The first guy came to my house and gave me an estimate. After that he came back with a quote that was above the range of the estimate. But I relented and said just do it as I had already paid $165 to have this guy come out. Before the job I receive a call from one of the receptionist girls who already has an attitude. I ask if she read any of the notes and she responds "No, why would I have those?" I don't know, maybe because then you'd know how to do the job? After the job I receive a call from from maybe the same girl who gives me the total, which is 50% more than the quote, asking for my credit card number. I refuse since the total is not what we discussed. She gets angry and insulting then hangs up on me. A month later I get my credit card bill and there's the full charge. They charged my credit card without my authorization or even contacting me. They might as well have stolen my wallet while they were at it. I had one fleeting pleasant experience with this company. A woman called me to try and resolve the issue. She apologized for the improper billing and horrible customer service. She actually heard they way the receptionist girls were talking to me and was disgusted. She said she would contact Paul, who was on vacation, and come to a solution. Unfortunately, I never received that call. If I could give negative stars I would. This is the perfect example of how not to treat your customers. If these reviews deter even one person from utilizing this businesses services then my job is done. I hope their desire to rip me off a few hundred dollars is worth future business lost. read more

This company did extensive work for me-the work was ok but then they out and out lied to me about a rebate that I would get ($800) on a furnace. After it turned out that the furnace was not the right one for ANY kind of rebate they refused any responsibility. It's hard to check everything out when you need a furnace in the middle of the winter and it's 47 degrees in your kitchen. I will never trust this company again. Update-check out their BBB rating it's a "D" and that's BEFORE I add my complaint! Had to have an outdoor faucet and the indoor shut-off valve replaced. It took about two weeks to book the appointment, but they called the day before to confirm. Eric showed up on time (even a little early) and was extremely careful about the work he did. He was knowledgeable and diligent, completed the job quickly and did not leave any kind of a mess. Flaherty's always comes through when I need them!! I have had them over to my house for clogged drains (tub, bathroom sink, kitchen sink) and they've found ways I could be more efficient in my water use. I've also had them help with the installation of a new gas range and they bent over backwards to make sure they could be there to disconnect the old and connect the new. Last year they did a great job with a gas leak in my furnace and did a thorough cleaning and check of the unit to keep it going strong even after the 50+ years its been in my house! I only call Flarherty Plumbing for my plumbing needs because I know they'll be there when I need them! read more

Got a live person to talk to, not an answering service! Had professional help. Turns out my heater was NOT set up properly when installed by a different plumber.
